Healing is pointless outside raids. In dungeons/frac you can’t heal enough to prevent ppl from getting 1-2 shot and you do 0 dps to contribute. So you’re looking at dps druid choices which are berserker set, or condi druid viper set.
Legendary armor is meant to reward players for doing the most challenging content, which is raid. Your question is like asking why is legendary backpiece tied to fractal and pvp. Ofc they want to reward the people who do those content, and to prompt players to step out of their comfort zone. In the end legendary armor is just a fashion icon like everything else endgame in gw2, so being exclusive is actually a good thing.
Over a month of AB looting has proved in fact that AB multi map does not affect the economy nor does it break the game and neither is the ability to map hop a glitch. Seriously there is nothing negative about AB looting, IT IS LITERALLY THE SAME AS SILVERWASTE in terms of how it affects the economy. So all the people qq-ing about how AB is breaking the economy look again. Look at how the prices of items ingame has rised and dropped over the last month and you can see that AB is actually stabalizing the tp by generating needed mats such as ectos, the jeweled needed for HoT legendary AND it is providing tons of mithril, elder, and mats in general thus keeping the price nearly the same as it used to be a year ago. Look back on 4 months ago before AB was buffed, EVERYTHING was 2x more expensive than they are now. Legendary was at 4-5k average, and mithril/elder, t3 mat price was popping through the roof. You people might want to observe the economy before throwing random statements around like AB is breaking the economy.
It’s pretty balanced right now BUT DB is the only t1 server currently open while TC and BG are closed. So DB is still getting bigger everyday as more people transfer. ops? Did someone say balance?

I honestly feel like SoS’s server skill across is board is quite low. First they have so many casuals who don’t bother following tag. Second they have very low number of roamers, and the roamers they have generally lose in fights against other servers roamers. Their commanders just gave up attempting to fight other server because the casuals don’t have good builds and get first pushed/downed in 5secs before the fight begins so they sit in tower and ppt. The pairing with NS saved SoS from destruction. Of course from what I observe of SBI, they are not much better except they do seem to have more devoted wvwer, and they bounce back like kittenroaches after getting wiped over and over again they just keep coming back with numbers. So I give them points for devotedness, meanwhile once SoS players die they tend to lie on the ground waiting for a res or just observe. Mag doesn’t have much skill across the board when zerging, but they do have more roamers which makes them win small skirmishes and of course they have advantage in pure numbers. FA has good commanders, good numbers, and good roamers so they win across the board and established themself in t2 solidly. As for the lower tier servers, they pretty much lack everything from numbers to commanders to having ‘new’ players who just enter wvw for the first time. Most of the players in t4,5,6 just eventually transfer to a higher tier server if they decide they enjoy wvw and want to keep at it.
HoT on initial release was definitely not what it was hyped up to be. The HoT maps were unrewarding and mastery points felt like a grind to do. I still think for people new to HoT it will be a bit of a upward struggle to enjoy it. However HoT begins to feel rewarding once you unlock most of your mastery and no longer have to grind for more exp and the new maps instead become more like a journey or adventure, which in my opinion is truly what the devs intended behind all the time gates and exp gates.
HoT to gw2 is like a cap increase. Lv80 is no longer the cap, instead having elite spec and 166 mastery points is the new cap. Of course the journey toward the cap is a bit of a grind, but it’s something you only get to experience once, and you only have to do it once since mastery is account wide. Unlocking mastery is like opening up a new world of possibilities and rewards.
There’s already plenty of content for living world… HoT released 4 brand new intricate and beautiful maps with each map full of achievements and events to do. There really does not need to be MORE living world progression as far as I’m concerned for at least one more year. I’m far from being bored in gw2 between all the things to do daily. Instead I agree with many of the opinions above, PLEASE work on bug fixes and perfecting your current content. After that I’d like to see all 16 new legendary weapons, and fractal backpiece and legendary armor released because that’s what many people bought HoT for, including myself.
I don’t know about other people, but I’m only pvping to hopefully advance in rank enough to get the wings :x I don’t enjoy pvp at all frankly. Meeting toxic players making me despair at this game, also pvp class balance is terrible right now. Just… no. If there was another way to get ascension I would be all over it, but probably not. Anet wants us to grind a looot of pvp in order to obtain those beautiful wings. sigh I mean I understand, the wing is gorgeous… I would happily pay 4000 gems for it, in fact I kind of want to beg anet to put it up in gem shop.
In solo que Foefire map seems usually like a death trap. Yet I don’t understand why people keep selecting it. This map greatly benefits the better team-comp team because they can zerg around and win all team matches. Not to mention it’s flat and allow ranged characters to shoot at you. It’s literally a death trap to solo ques where if you’re unlucky enough to be matched against a better made team, it’s usually GG. Strategies don’t mean a thing in Foefire, there’s no mechanic other than ’band together and kill the other players as soon as possible.
I understand foefire is very popular in competitive and pre-made teams who can team fight on even grounds. But for those ppl who are queing up solo, PLEASE stop selecting foefire! You’re just putting your chances of winning into the hands of the RNG god.
In solo que, Kyhlo and Nihfiem is usually better since the terrain interfere with grouping up to zerg everything, and there’s a unique mechanic that can help you win other than winning team fights. So again I hope people who are queing up solo can STOP picking foefire!
Bumping this for the devs to find
I’m looking for a medium to large size guild 300+ member that is active with organization for pve activities i.e world bosses, maguuma maps, missions. Raids and fractal groups would be a nice bonus but not necessary. I prefer a guild with diverse range of players that likes to enjoy the game in all areas (pvp, pve, wvw, and instances).
I can fully rep if required, and use TS however I have no mic. Communication is key but I’m looking for a guild that communicates on guild chat as well as TS, with TS being necessary only for large scale events.
Raid wise I’m experienced with all three bosses and have been raiding since it came out. I’m happy to join any raid groups with any of my 6 characters, but a raid guild is not what i’m looking for.
Bump, please fix this soon Dx I want to finish this crafting so i can move onto my next item. Please thank you
I have the same problem as well. There’s no recipe in my weaponsmithing list for Balanced sword hilt, i crafted Weighted sword blade already.
Zerker is not the only build available for thief, there are condi thieves out there too. Why only buff up auto attack thief and not condi thief’s traits? Again Anet tunnel visioning on how they think a class should be played.
Well first of all I’m happy for you that you love this community so. For me I’ve played games with much better community than gw2, most of those games were casual mmorpgs that had a small population but very friendly people. Comparing to those games, gw2’s community is absolutely hateful at times, forums and ingame chat both.
Yes, I regret. After playing HoT for a while i feel like it’s a huge waste of my time and I’d really like to quit. Problem is i paid $50 for this expc and I really do want to get my money’s worth somehow, god knows Anet will not refund me so now i’m stuck trying to waddle through the grind of masteries and not enjoying myself very much.

Warning – rant ahead
Ever since HoT came out I’ve been toiling away and pretty much playing alot more than I ever did before HoT, and 2 weeks later i’m at 75 mastery level. BUT it has not been a rewarding experience at all for me. The map rewards are terrible and so is the exp and the mastery exp curve. Worst of all with the change to events and tagging them don’t get credit, i’m stuck being stationary while waiting for events to complete. This causes boredom to set in real quick, and i end up trying to multi task by watching my 2nd monitor for movies. EXCEPT the mobs in new HoT maps thanks to Anet hurts like hell and kill me in in 1 second flat when I turn away and I’m dead. Then I have commanders on my map yelling ‘the dead waypoint’ so i waypoint and come back, and this happens a few times. Why for gods sake do Anet always have to listen to players and change the way the game works? What was wrong with the old event system where you can tag? It was perfect, people could actually be productive with their time instead of standing around hitting a few more mobs to satisfy the rest of the whiners who grumble about leechers. So i’m a casual and lazy, I like to spend 30min and do 10 events instead of 1hr doing just 5 and now I can’t. HoT is just a gigantic waste of time, forcing players to stick around for 1.5hr long event chains and getting very low returns in both exp and items.
Yea I agree, having played some action rpgs before, i can definitely say GW2’s action camera is a inferior version with none of the benefits of the real thing and all the setbacks. The problem stems from the fact single target skills rely on the cross hair to find a target to lock on. This is a major problem as gw2 has too many single target skills and without a target those skills simply will not cast and show a ‘interrupted’ cooldown. A true action gamestyle dictates you can cast a skill in any unspecified area according to where your character is facing no targeting required and that the cross hair is simply to ‘aid’ in long ranged shooting accuracy.
I don’t see a problem with difficulty of the map as a whole. If you die, you can just waypoint and start over and perhaps think of some way to run around or get a few friends to play with you. After all you are walking around in a lv80 zone, the difficulty should be higher than other areas. I do think event rewards should be more than just some exp and copper or else no one will feel properly motivated to actually stick around in the new maps after their masteries are done.
My objection is more geared toward the poor coding and planning for the launch of this expansion. Anet had over half a year to prep for the launch of HoT, not to mention the closed beta events and weekends they had to test their server and codes. Yet on launch what is happening? Server crash everyday because their server is not dealing with with the sudden influx of players. New living story having bugs and problems all over. New fractal merchant getting disabled with no warning and we can’t even buy the new AR stuff to advance in fractal. Not to mention the new builds plaguing us 2-3 times per day forcing players to relog and cutting off our enjoyment AND still not fixing the server problem. Seriously Anet ‘WHY ARE YOU SO UNPREPARED?’
This is unprecedented poor service by a gaming company that hosts a pay to play. If I knew HoT launch was going to be such a disaster i would have held off pre-purchasing and saved myself 4 days of hassle trying and failing to enjoy HoT.
400HP is ridiculous, each of the skills cost 15-35 points whereas the old trait skills costed 3-15. There’s nothing special about the new skills other than the fact its new. Why should players who spend $50 already for this expansion have to do 3x more work just to obtain something that is equal to the other traits?
Pretty much what i want to say is covered by everyone else above me. I bought gw2 and enjoyed it for this long because i knew it was a casual game. What i enjoyed about gw2 is how you gain exp from doing anything you want, and each level the same amount of exp is required to get to the next level. Thus making it so gw2 is a linear progression. But with mastery system linear progression has been kittened. 1st mastery you need 550k exp, 2nd you need 1mil, i don’t know how much the third requires but I’m sure its a very terrifying amount for players who should have hit end content and thus don’t need to grind. The WHOLE point of getting to lv80 is to enjoy the end content casually, not to grind some more.

I swear to god please just give us elite sec for free without needing 400 hero points and i’ll love you Anet. I can’t stand grinding in Maguuma to level up mastery and running around maps desperately trying to find where the hell these pesky SP are and then gathering a group of people to do it. It’s just way too time consuming and all i want is my elite spec so i can go back to my casual gameplay of 3-5 dungeons a day and doing daily then log off routine.
Fun = 2
Annoyance = 12
It was fun for the first 2 hours as i got to explore the new maps and fractal etkittenil i realized unlocking my mastery requires endless amount of grinding dungeons, and in the case of Maguuma doing repetitive pve events. I can’t unlock my elite spec without spending days leveling up said masteries doing pve content that i have absolute no interest in.
Thanks Anet. I’m sure you think players love to send hours and hours doing the same content because Silverwaste was so popular. Except you seem to forget SW was only popular for gold, but the new maps don’t give much $$ and very little in terms of rewards. Only motivation to do the event on new map is to grind mastery so we can UNLOCK OUR SP. Much appreciated challenging, and intense content with skewed reward to effort ratio.
Also why do old players who played majority of Tyria content not receive a head start in Mastery exp? Just because there’s a new system doesn’t mean you get to ditch your old player base and say ‘kitten you for playing this long, we don’t care. You can get a fresh start like newbies of gw2.’ Yea geez thanks alot Anet for the consideration.
