Raids forcing stats on certain classes?

First of all if you think the only way to deal damage is Zerks, you are so utterly wrong…..

You don’t exactly do more damage as a zerk than a condition build. The damage is just done differently. Most of the time our Condition team were done with their split boss before the zerkers…. And that was with 3 conditions and 4 zerks.

Second of all metas change and it was about time some more flavour was added to the GW2 meta rather than just Zerk builds.

Third of all my necro is not forced into condition or zerk. He can do both and equally well I could even tank with him with no issues. Second of all, my herald isn’t being forced into condition, healing, tank or zerk he does all four equally well and I could continue, but I’m not gonna because should have been obvious by now that you are not forced.

The raid DIDN’T in fact get beaten within 15 minutes. That was just pure BS. Check out this twitter post by DnT attempting some backpedaling damage control:

Raids forcing stats?..

Oh you mean kinda like how everyone are forced to play a zerk build if they want to join a group for something?..

So sorry for you that you can’t only play Zerk.. World must be a hard and unforgiving place to live in……..

… I hate myself for saying this. It hurts me. but……

It’s Mac’s fault. Sorry sorry sorry sorry…. In this case, however, it kinda is. The Mac client is – inherently – unstable. I do think that they are continuously improving it, but it’s a beta client – after all. It will take. A lot of time. If it will ever work. Properly.

Other than that he is actually right in most cases it’s usually the pc of the client which is at fault and not the game. Which should not be surprising considering each god kitten company that produces hardware for a pc does it differently from each other. Hench software needs to be able to communicate to many different kinds of hardware it’s -bound- to cause issues.
All good tho ‘cos it’s usually preventable with patches.

plz nerf spider farm

A simple fix that would be relatively easy. Suggested by a guildmate

Make a map for meta events and one for exploration. On teleportation TO a map you are prompted to choose between meta-event/exploring. Teleportation within a map wouldn’t prompt the message. You could probably also implement an interface to switch between the two states which would then cause a teleport.

In Exploration maps you can do adventures, hero points, kill random mobs, explore stuff O.O (IKR!), achievements not associated to meta-events and events in general, mastery points, chests, strongboxes and harvesting.

In Meta-Event maps you remove all fluff and make it all about the meta events. Nothing. Else. Except achievements for the various meta-events + preq events.

I do agree that not some meta-events require a lot more participation than others (DS and Tarir being the fairly easy ones to nail). TD and VB being near impossible if not enough players are around.

It would also do A LOT to NOT open up new instances of a zone until the previous instances are completely full.. Sorry to all the dc’ers, but there are far too many dead instances with far too many players spread too thin. (We should not need to taxi…….)

Can’t say I care much about an exp nerf. Masteries were intended as a time consuming project. If they feel you can get too far, too fast with spider farm. Honestly, it’s their decision and the feelings in the community will likely be split 50/50. Furthermore it’s highly unlikely to cause you to pack your belongings and move to another game so there’s little risk involved in doing said nerf.

Awesome – some awe.

Awful – full of awe.

Neither word actually says whether the awe is good or bad.

I think the number of bugs introduced with every release is awful. I think that releasing content with simple basic oversights (bugs) in them is awful. I’m an IT professional in the Real World (i.e. not gaming). I’d be fired if I did that as regularly as Anet (and every other gaming company) do it.

I’d like to know why new crafting materials were introduced without appropriate slots in the collection bank. Some have since been patched, not all (why did it take a year for a slot to be introduced for Foxfire Clusters, for example? Are you hoping that people will spend Real Money on extra bank space?). I’d like to know why Legendary collections were released that have items that are simply unobtainable in the game (Scarlet’s Prototype Mechanism for The Predator, and for one other leggie, I believe, as an example). And very, very simple fixes have still not been applied. That’s just dandy.

Are you still reading, John Smith? Or do you only reply to people who tell you you have some awe?

Define Awesome

and jesus christ Raedwulf, bug fixes take time. stop being a cuck

3 weeks for a few collection items? Good god I hope not. Oh wait…

Welp .. I’m just gonna leave this here: http://www.lizengland.com/blog/2014/04/the-door-problem/

Just because it seems like an easy or simple thing, does not make it so.

Worthless link. Funny, but rather worthless.

a) They already have the code necessary to add an item to a collection
b) They already have the code necessary to create a slot for an item in a collection
c) They already have the code which keeps track of whether you remove or add to a collection (such as crafting material collections)
d) They already have the code which keeps track whether or not the collection item has been added before or it is a new item never seen before.
d) It doesn’t take a genius to copy + pasta the code you already have and change the relevant references to fit the new code you want to make.
e) Job done and it wouldn’t take you more than 10min.

I don’t know of any programmers that would be stupid enough to reinvent the wheel. So let’s be honest. It’s just slack not getting those collections right – from the beginning. One could say that with proper Project Management this should not happen.

At least my Software Engineering & Software Design teachers would come down hard on us students if we reinvented the wheel each time.

Pesonally I disliked SAB and I like the idea it being out. I dont like the idea of forcing people to play such content (yup achi points/unique skins etc forcing ppl to play it) when it is timegated and so (!) frustraiting.
I would like to see such content for April Fools just like an “little silly thingy”, but without any special revards/achivs.

I personally dislike PvP and I don’t like the idea of forcing people to play it to get certain content unlocked (achievements, unique skins not to mention legendary weapons) when it is this unbalanced – heck certain builds are impossible to defeat.
I would like to see such content for April Fools just like a “little silly thingy” but without any special rewards/achievements.

In actual news, I would like SAB returned, I never got to try it and more content to dabble in, the better. Also, from the video it seems to be a game mode that makes you rage so hard it turns into laughter and fun.

Considering that they don’t even have a raid or dungeon out yet for the xpac I doubt we will ever see SAB again.

Of all the MMO’s I have ever played (I gave up counting my fingers and toes). No one has had a raid dungeon in their release. Nor their Expansions. If they had that, people would complain that there was no content to do after 2 weeks. Guild Wars is no different from any other MMO, well now a days. It took a solid 3 years to get Anet to realize there is no PvE without encounters that really test your mettle.

HoT = Burnout

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

I’m seeing alot of discussion about how mastery relates to burn out, that’s not the case.
Mastery = Millions of experience
Millions of experience = time buffer so people don’t realize the mastery system is non-beneficial and shallow character progression.
At its core, mastery is just something to keep consumers occupied. You aren’t doing anything original or unique. It’d be a different story if the player actually learned the itzel language (etc.) by doing related activities.

Ah, I just made a comment to this effect on another post – you’re exactly right; if mastery was related to trying to do the things you are mastering, it would make sense and wouldn’t be a 9999999999999999XP grind (which is a lot of veteran spiders, by the way). Like trying out jumping mushrooms ~40 times before it actually takes you in the right direction and doesn’t get you nearly killed, or something like that.

The issue with that is it’s easily bypassed. I could literally just stand next to one mushroom in one corner of a map and jump on it over and over again until I unlock that mastery. Same thing with Itzel lore, just talk to the same npcs over and over again. So how do you slow people down so they don’t unlock all the masteries instantly and devalue the point of masteries meaning to be the long-term horizontal progression?

I mean, that’s a viable way of leveling a skill… it’s not a bypass. As the game currently stands, you can stand in one corner and bash a single dinosaur over the head until you unlock every single mastery.

If you want to slow down masteries presented in that fashion, you just need to make sure the people can only gain, for instance, a certain number points in a mastery level from a single NPC or mushroom per day. They can always come back and do it again tomorrow, but if they want it quicker they will need to seek out other NPCs/mushrooms. Gliding would be slightly trickier, but I see nothing wrong with a “total flight time” being the requirement. Makes a lot of sense for glider players, and also encourages using gliders more.

So here’s the real question: why don’t the Guild Wars 2 devs seem to care that the leveling system is completely detached from the actual masteries? I could be leveling mushroom jumping without ever even SEEING a mushroom. By hitting a dinosaur with a pointy stick. In that abandoned little corner you mentioned.

Thumbs up mate, you’re getting the issue. I thought the Masteries sounded cool, I kinda regretted that when I saw the jumps in exp in-between masteries.

I’m just glad raiding is being added tomorrow. Not sure how I feel about them also adding raid masteries but.. hum. At least something else to do in the new zones other than grinding meta-events, because that is kind of all you can do.

It is nice with the new strongboxes. Other options than having to do JPs to get Empyreal Fragments.

It is not solved yet… So no whatever for the Devs.

Sorry, but for a very popular game title with the funds to actually prevent this through proper testing. Going on 12 hours or more – this is entirely unacceptable.
- Minor hickups are to be expected but to be completely barred from playing. Is not.

If you can’t get past map loading try this below, it worked for me and several others!

Don’t know if it’s related or a complete fluke, I was about to post “me too” on this problem- all my characters never got past loading screen but a friend suggested I do a repair from this guide:
https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/28148006-Repairing-the-Game-Client

Took about 10 minutes and then I logged in and everything’s great – hopped multiple characters, doing things, changing zones

What a shame. Listening to casuals, just because they have to work to continue their story mission. HOW HORRIBLE IT MUST BE.

Did you also complain back in GW2 when you had to get 10 levels to reach the next Story Line? How utterly pathetic.

This is not supposed to be a rush through the entire thing. If it were.. then what the **** would you be doing the rest of the time?
- It’s meant as a long term investment, not instant gratification. I wish. ******* would get it through their thick skulls instead of ruining for the rest.
