I don’t even know what to say anymore, ArenaNet.
I’ve been wishing for larger group content as 5-man dungeons just wasn’t enough to keep peoples interest and the WvW scene was spoiled by all the server transfers. I was fully expecting to be jumping into guild content this week as our guild has had all tiers of the Guild system researched , about 15k banked influence, and just waiting for new content.
Then you go and add a completely unneeded and arbitrary tier just to initiate the content. I know full well you can join other guilds events but that isn’t the point. This was an opportunity to kick off your own missions at scheduled times and maybe help keep interest in this game.
I fully support this system in fact the lack of larger group content, namely guild content, is something I’ve found very frustrating about Guild Wars 2. The fact we’re getting this finally makes me extremely happy and thrilled to keep playing. We are by no means a large, or even medium sized guild yet we’ve been sitting on having everything unlocked for a few months now. Actually being able to use those unlocks for something outside of boosts is a great idea.
For small guilds, this game is chock full of content you can do, you’re not even excluded from these guild missions either, just from starting them if you don’t have the technology researched. This game lets you join other guilds too, so you are able to keep your “friends and family” casual guilds and join larger guilds for more serious content.
Larger group content that isn’t typical world event grinding or WvW was an addition this game has been sorely needing, thank you ArenaNet.
Indeed! Thank you for the third mini!
That’s amazing.
Now if only we had other playable instruments and a way to sync them up… nudges Anet
It would be nice, considering this is a multiplayer game build around Guilds…
Yup, you just need a descent group.
So then why can’t we just bring in our group of friends… you know.. from our Guilds…in this Guild Wars game?
Feh… Between this, Keg Brawl, the other holiday minigames, and sPVP I’m getting fed up with this forced PUG grouping mentality.
What’s next, forced PUG dungeons?
Dear ArenaNet,
This is the reason why I never sPVP, tournaments are too serious and I just want to hop in for some fun with friends. This is the reason why I don’t do Keg Brawl, why oh why can’t I just play a mini-game with my FRIENDS? This is the reason why, after one game, I skipped the Halloween and Wintersday PVP games, seriously… why won’t you let us play with our friends, this is an MMO!
Just let us queue as a group like every other MMO out there that has PVP, this is beyond ridiculous and that it’s forced upon us for a PVE activity has me seriously doubting ArenaNet’s design decisions.
Needs a revert, we need more options to preview armor and weapons, not less.
This is an aesthetics driven game, how else am I going to decide if I want to keep certain drops for alts if I can’t preview them? Do I seriously have to deposit them in my bank, switch to my alt, run to the bank, then preview them? Seriously?
Oh snap just made a thread about this, anyways I totally agree. I mean it is a Massively Multiplayer Online game, and a really nice feature in multiplayer games is the ability to play with friends XD
Both the activities now, and during halloween were great, I just didn’t really play them since I couldn’t play them with friends… and Keg Brawl? Haven’t gone back to it after my first game with randoms.
Sorry, I didn’t see your thread or I would have added to it.
And yeah… I love Keg Brawl and I desperately wanted the ability to make teams and challenge other teams. Really all we needed were those two abilities and perhaps a spectator mode and we could have formed an e-sport out of it. Likewise I haven’t touched Keg Brawl either because I have no desire to have my group split up and friends shuffled off into different instances. :\
There’s probably some lone ninja tree hiding somewhere. I’ve done this multiple times for guildies and I can confirm that it’s not bugged but it can be easy to miss a tree that’s by a broken building, for example.
I’ve never liked the sPVP system where you were always thrown around on random teams unless you choose to play in the hardcore tournaments, but it’s even worse with holiday events as you can’t even get into the same game.
I understand that you don’t want premades running sPVP but the holiday events are just for fun and you need to allow us to join them with our friends. The Halloween one? Great design, fun to play, but ultimately I played it once or twice before ditching it to go do other things with friends, not random pugs. I sent in numerous feedback about it and was hoping it would be fixed.
Being tossed into random games isn’t fun and has been one of my chief complaints with Keg Brawl too. We WANT to play these games with our friends, please make it be possible!
Just win your homelands, win the map you happen to be on at the time, and enjoy the great fights regardless of what the scoreboard said happened yesterday.
A thousand times this.
I have to laugh a bit when people say that TC has 24/7 queues. We did some guild WvW last night and at 7pm PST the only queue was EB, everything else we got right in and on the particular borderlands we fought on all night we were the underdog.
I am happy CD was able to rise to T3 this week as they’ve been fierce competition. We had a lot of good fights last night!
Don’t even get me started on our downed abilities… The Grapple is just a quick way to get someone to finish you off, especially since the explosion is on such a long CD and does mediocre damage.
Meanwhile I rally all the time on my warrior, even without Vengeance and if I need to, I can pop vengeance and kill for the 100% rally or run behind a rezzer line. On my Mesmer and Ele I can confuse them or run away long enough to keep myself alive. Those abilities are all fine and I’m in no way saying they need to be nerfed, just that our downed abilities need scrapped and redone.
This is my biggest concern about the lack of attention to the Engineer class along with the Flame Blast bugs (Obstruction bug and disappearing projectile on contact with walls/floors/objects) that have existed in the game since beta.
Now that Elementalists have gotten stats on their conjured weapons I can only guess that Arenanet has no idea what they want to do with the engineer class.
When Ascended weapons are added we’re going to be behind the curve even more.
Also, the stacks I get from Juggernaut (which is supposed to be BONUS damage) doesn’t even make up for the loss of power because my rifle stats aren’t added in, not to mention I’m down ~7% crit, which is a lot.
Bugged on Tarnished Coast, nothing happens when you try to talk to him.
I like it, salvaging all those items was a real pain.
Monthly achievements are entirely optional and the Mystic Coins are only useful if you’re going for one of the very hardcore goals the game offers.
With any luck, the dungeon loot revamp will come in the November patch and more people will be excited about dungeons again. Personally I’m still happy running dungeons for the various skins and stat combinations, especially since tokens are account bound now.
Assuming you’re not a troll, It seems like you’re missing the point, as well as missing an opportunity to talk to your children about fantasy vs reality. You could also use it as an opportunity to talk about the horrors of the illegal whaling industry if you really care so much about the whales.
Several guildmates and I watered the whales, we made a party of it, as social event. It was fun. Yes, we even felt pity because the animators and sound engineers did such a great job of making the whales realistic. I would love to see our efforts paid off, but even if they aren’t do you know what’s great and the point you seem to be missing? The fact that something in a game was so beautifully crafted that it caused you to feel real emotion. Lashing out at ArenaNet for a completely ridiculous reason is entirely the wrong way to handle that.
Any of Jora’s, especially her Deldrimor set.
Meanwhile on Tarnished Coast…
We claim this whale in the name of The Grey Wolves!
No flag, No Whale, You can’t have one! Those are the rules…
How about…
A World vs World map that has several floating islands with keeps on them (keeps would have roofs to make it necessary to land for invading). You would have to build airships using supply to assault the flying keeps. The Airships themselves would support a helmsman that can control flying the ship as well as several cannon that can be manned by players. Keeps would have defenses to attempt to shoot down the airships as well as walls that could be breached by the airships.
There could be a few different models of airships available, from more siege oriented airships that are slower to more air-superiority airships that would be smaller and nimbler and designed for taking out other airships.
Airships would also have grappling harpoons that could be used to grapple an enemy airships where PvP would occur between both ships. Ships would contain an engine that, if destroyed by enemy players, would cause the ship to be destroyed.
Here’s the idea I had…
Guild vs Guild was a big part of Guild Wars 1 and guild halls were an important part of that. A modern, and updated take on that system would fit in very well in GW2. The Guild Halls would also facilitate player housing.
Here’s how it could work…
Like in GW1, there would be several areas available for guild halls, based off the various environments in game. After you pick the area you want, you can start researching various things to place on the plot of land. This would be done with influence via the guild system. The first one researched would obviously be the main keep. There would be a different style of architecture based on the area chosen, Nornlands would give you a great hall looking structure, while Krytan lands would give you something closer to architecture in Divinity’s Reach.
You could expand on from there, adding in walls, defenses, even amenities like a blacksmith with a forge, an inn that you could go inside of that also had a cooking station, and etc.
Also player houses would be placed on this area. In both the guild halls and the player houses you would be able to decorate with a system comparable to EQ2/SWG/Vanguard. Furniture and Decorations would be craftable by all the crafting professions as well as sold through the Gem Store. Trophies would be earned in game and the trophies would highlight your accomplishments. There would also be Guild Trophies that could be placed in the guild hall as well as larger ones (like statues) that could be placed on the grounds.
What about Guild vs Guild? Well, your guilds plot would be linked to the opposing guild via a neutral buffer area that would mesh the styles of the two lands. So if your guild is in Kryta and their guild is in the Shiver peaks the buffer area would mix the two styles for a seamless look. GvG itself would be a mini-WvW complete with sieges, siege engines, and NPC armies. Think of it like a MOBA meets WvW.
I got the Masterwork book across several of my characters, including my elementalist in her mid-teens. How? We made it a guild shindig. Escorted by someone who was higher level made it possible.
It was also hilarious being gigantic aggro magnets and trying to evade everything to stay alive because we’d get one shot if we didn’t. Overall we all enjoyed it, and laughed our kittens off.
The Whisperers skins are intended to be only acquired if you join the Order of Whispers, but unfortunately a handful of the skins were set up in core loot drops. In the other night’s patch, we fixed this bug and converted the existing weapons into the intended skin. If you acquired the weapon through the intended means (joining the Order and purchasing the exclusive skin), those weapons were not affected by the fix. Only the ones that were erroneously dropped as core loot were affected. Apologies for the mistake! If you loved the skin, I highly recommend selecting the Order of Whispers through your personal story and you’ll be able to acquire it again.
So will you be refunding our transmute stones at least?
These skins have been in since BWE1, so if it wasn’t intended they should have been caught before the game launched and many of us spent real life money getting transmute stones to keep the look.
Many of us are past the point of joining the Order of Whispers as we went with a different order, so that is simply not an option.
I wouldn’t be so upset if they were changed into something cool, but the newbie weapon look is just an insult.
I love your game, ArenaNet, but there are some highly questionable decisions being made here.
I have to agree about dungeon difficulty. Considering we are doing these dungeons for what is essentially skins, they are extremely unfun in their current state. It also needs to be said that Engineer turrets, even when slotted for more durability and regenerating health get one shotted by trash mobs and AOE as well as seem to be waaaaay high on the aggro table in these dungeons.
It should be added that in addition to the weird obstruction issue the Flame Blast also disappears when hitting ground, walls, or objects causing the explosion to never happen. A good way to fix this would be to make the flame blast explode upon impact if it touches one of these things. As it stands Flame Blast is extremely finicky if it decides to work or not.
Confirmed. I had been paying to buy transmute stones to keep the look of my whisperer rifle on my engineer. Now it’s the ugly looking newbie gun.
I also purchased 2 whisperer axe on my warrior and just picked them up… now they’re newbie axes.
Kind of a weird bug, and I truly hope it is a bug and ArenaNet didn’t stealth remove these skins as I paid good money for those transmute stones.
I just had this issue happen to me.
I had been using transmute stones (that I paid for) to keep the look of my Whisperer rifle as it fit my engineer well. I log in and it’s now some ugly newbie rifle.
I also bought two whisperer axe because of the look on the tradepost and now they’re newbie axes.
I’ll be submitting a report in game, I hope that ArenaNet can get the skins rolled back to their proper ones and I do not want to be stuck with these ugly weapons.
