Correct me if I’m wrong – I never saw you with more than 3 condis. You didn’t encounter any condi engis, mesmers or necros that I saw.

I understand the video was to highlight the high evis crits but it doesn’t really show how no cleansing ire holds up against condi heavy classes.

Do you happen to have any footage vs a staff necro with signet of spite or vs a p/p engi?

Your only condition removal is on a 48 second CD and there are no snare removals since you don’t have mobile strikes. Does that not cause problems for you verse condition heavy classes such as necro or engi?

I’ve never played this particular build/rune set so looking for some player feedback.

Correct. Fast hands does not gain anything more with on swap sigils due to the shared CD. Just don’t get 2 of them.

Couple things I would suggest

- Drop SoR and get the Battle Standard. With any group play that elite can make or break the fight.
- Move the 20 points in Strength to Tactics. You should get plenty of power from gear and GS isn’t going to be your primary damage dealer so you don’t need the traits for it. I would get the ‘Inspiring Banners’ and ‘Burning Arrow’ traits
- All zerker accessories and for your gear, depending on if you need more damage or more survivability mix and match knights/zerker (remember toughness doesn’t effect condition damage, only direct damage)
- I highly recommend an ‘On Swap’ sigil for one of your weapons.

There is some food for thought until others chime in with more suggestions.

I can agree with that statement, 100b will typically not be your primary damage dealing ability (unless you catch the enemy off guard and can land a full duration 100b).

If you don’t prefer GS fine but don’t label it a PVE weapon because you’re bad with it. There are countless warriors running GS and do great with it in pvp. Not to mention this thread was created asking for advice on how to use the GS properly, you’ve provided very little in that regard.

And 100b inst any insane damage as u claims it to be, everything on warrior will do huge amount of damage in 3sec, evi does insane damage in a short time, while hb is down to press cc skill>swap>press 2, go make a coffee. Axe 1 can do the same “insane” damage with no cd. But ive actually said that gs aa inst far behind hb.
And i think bladetrail was supposed to be used at range+ im not sure how u can get more than 2x strikes regularly?

I feel like you don’t even play warrior. The only other weapon that comes close to 100b damage is Axe with Eviscerate (which is probably the worst pvp weapon, 1 trick pony).

Sword – very little burst/spike dmg and comes from Final Thrust when < 50% HP

Mace – No burst or high dmg at all

LB – Decent burst but not comparable to full 100b

Rifle – Kill shot can do amazing damage but the cast time makes this ability next to worthless for small fights (zerg vs zerg you can 1 shot people because they can’t see what you’re doing in the blob)

Hammer – Has good spike damage, but it takes all abilities to come close to the full dmg of 100b

Shield – OH weapon, provides a stun and block, no burst.

So again, no. Not every weapon for warrior can do crazy damage in 3 seconds, you’re clearly misinformed.

Too bad gs doesnt have a cc skill on its own so its has to come from other source such as offset/utility. Sorry but a bad desing is bad, and forcing to use weapon ppl might not like is just wrong. A weapon should be viable on its own, a offset can improve the main weapon, but making a offset following the rule “i must have it in order to make gs viable” is just wrong. Again..bad desing is bad

Except it does, Bladetrail. If you can bladetrail someone while in melee range you can easily get 2-3 strikes in. I put Sigil of Hydromancy on my GS to get even more (maybe 1 more strike).

Bladetrail has a 900 range. Sure the further the enemy the more likely you are to miss which brings me back to “Every GS ability for Warr is useful, you just gotta know how and when to use it.”

You’re saying that GS is bad design because of what it can’t do while ignoring what it can do. The mobility and gap closing ability of the GS is amazing and it is capable of insane amounts of dmg with 100b. This same mobility doubles as escapes for the warrior since Rush and Whirlwind do not require a target.

If more CC is added to the GS it would completely OP, why would you need any other weapon set?

I suppose agree to disagree. For me, the hammer does not make GS viable but rather the GS makes the hammer viable. Hammer has very little mobility (earthshaker LOL), so if it weren’t for the GS I would never be able to pressure people with the hammer.

Every GS ability for Warr is useful, you just gotta know how and when to use it.

Normally 100b is hard to land since you’re rooted so you try an combo a stun or knockdown into a 100b. Even if you can only get 2-3 strikes off its a decent amount of damage.

The GS really shines when it comes to mobility, when coupled with Mobile Strikes you have 2 snare removals (Whirlwind and Rush)

Check out this clip I captured last night, this shows how I utilize the GS to get away just enough to reset the fight (the small amount of time in between fighting may not seem much, but remember with healing signet you should always be getting that passive regen)

When it comes to dueling or 1v1 and landing the f1 abilities (or any ability for that matter) you’re going to have a harder time. If the enemy knows what they are doing, they will be avoiding your stuns/knockdowns at all costs. The key here is figuring out the combos the enemy is trying to get on you and then counter with your combos. The goal is to figure this out and be successful before you get burned down.

In your case you’re using LB so instead of a stun/knockdown you’ll want to use Pin Down -> 100b combo. If you’re not in melee range.. Pin Down -> Rush -> 100b

I play a similar build (same numbers, few diff traits) than Kalarchis and I agree with what was said. GS with Mobile Strikes can get you out of a sticky situation sometimes and you end up winning the fight.

EDIT** Far as build, there are several viable builds currently. It comes down to what weapon set you want to use that will help define the build. Test out all the weapons and find which ones you like, then go from there.

…and to die in a couple of seconds in a stun is only the dying players fault for not bringing a stun break.

I like the suggestions minus Healing Surge.

Frenzy effect (25% more damage taken, without quickness?) means you’re going to need to predict healing to an extent. If you’re super low and use it you’ve got to kite for 5 seconds and hopefully you don’t have any condi’s otherwise you melt.

If you use it at mid-range HP you’re going to have a 5 second timeframe in which an enemy player can pop his/her CDs and do a crazy amount of damage (does the debuff apply to full duration of condis applied while debuff is up or only apply while the debuff exists) and possibly out damage the heal you’re getting so you’ve really gained nothing.

In summary: I feel like the 5 second debuff window is potentially giving up more than you’re gaining far as HP and Adrenaline.

My suggestion for Healing Surge -

Healing Surge (1 s cast, 25 second cool-down.)
Heal yourself. Remove 1 condition for each Bar of Adrenaline you have. If you have no conditions, additional healing is applied for each Bar.
Adrenaline: Each bar removes 1 condition and each bar unspent gives an additional 600 HP.
Healing: 8,000 (upwards of 9,800 HP or 8000 HP and 3 condi’s removed)

I realize this makes it a lot more like Mending but my thought is behind not having to have Cleansing Ire as a required trait.

Your build is similar to what I run but instead I only take 10 in Arms (with UF or whatever Adept trait you want, I use Furious Reaction) and put 30 into Disc and get Burst Mastery.

Burst mastery is good because if you ever Earthshaker, the only thing you have to wait on to do it again is the CD rather than have to get some adrenaline first, the increase in damage is good as well.

If you’re going to stick with Mace then your Disc traits are fine but if you swap out sword for mace drop Signet Mastery and pick up mobile strikes. Sword 2 is a movement ability, so you get a snare removal out of it with that trait.

Move up to the front line and try to stun as many people as possible, knockdown, dps and then get back to your backline to regen a bit. Use Earthshaker to blast finish combo fields, I generally try and blast water/healing fields first. Rinse and repeat.

We ended up losing the tower in this clip, it’s just an example of how hammer is utilized.

Note that it excels more with choke points (top of stairs going up to the lords room for example).

We will agree to disagree then. While you lack the protection boon, in some cases condi cleanses, you have plenty that provides damage mitagation. The highest armor in the game helps mitagate damage. The highest health in the game helps mitagate conditions. The best mobility in the game combined with snare immunity (if specced/geared) lets you reset or flee unfavorable fights almost as handily as thieves. These things dont just put you on par with classes that heal or have boons or stealth or death shroud or clones, they set you above the rest in many ways. There really isnt any debate that warriors are the standard of survivability in GW2. When you add on healing signets poor scaling and huge base values, its problematic for balance (in the same way that permastealth, condi-spam, etc can all be problematic).

The ranger protection uptime is tied to dodge rolls. As im sure you’ve seen, innate dodge and vigor traits are being nerfed acrossed the board.

- Guardians also use Heavy Armor
- Our mobility when specced and traited right is on par with many other professions when specced and traited right.
- We DO NOT have snare immunity, we have a trait which allows a few abilities to get us out of a snare. So we have to be snared at least for a split second (depending on your reaction time and CDs available). Again, we DO NOT have snare immunity.

Condi-spam is problematic? Is it really spam when, for example, an engi running pistol/pistol applies a different condition for every ability (1-5)?

As a warrior I have to take every utility to mitigate damage. I also play a mesmer, thief and engineer and this is NOT the case on these 3 professions. I can get more damage mitigation through their utilities but its generally not needed since I get damage mitigation elsewhere (vigor, stealth, protection etc).

How hard is it to dodge a warriors stun anyways? We have the most telegraphed and slowest abilities in the game (mace/hammer). Other professions have abilities with cast times that are faster than some of our stuns. When you see a warrior switch to mace or hammer, be ready to dodge. It’s that simple

I didn’t make it past the first 4 minutes of the video. All of which was the same pub server and same players who don’t even have stun breaks in their builds or just ate 100b for no reason. In other scenarios the enemies were outnumbered.

Im talking about pvp. But thats why you pair it with shield.

You can pair mace and sword with the shield as well and you’re still better off.

I see axe as a glass cannon weapon, get lots of power and you can do crazy damage with Eviscerate. You just won’t be able to survive well if focused.

You’re question is vague, do you mean in pve or pvp?

For pvp –
No mobility (very little from Eviscerate)
No condition damage application (only condi is cripple)
No control such as stun, knockdown
No defensive abilities such as a block

Sword and mace each bring at least 2 of the above items.

Endure Pain is useless against Mesmers really, most of there damage comes from staying in the fight longer (sustained).

The best weapon’s ive found against mesmer have been Sword. I’m dead serious. Mesmers don’t have much condition removal (just like us.) Sword also has a lot of low-cd leaps and spammable cripples. The weapon with it I find best is Mace, due to AOE pressure, AOE knockdown will knock down all the clones and the Mesmer too.

Use Precision/Condition Damage/Toughness Gear (Turtle’s Def=Dogged March.)

Not sure how changing up the entire gear set (and perhaps spec, the link isn’t working for me) is an applicable answer. Also Mesmer’s have quite a bit of conditional removal through their utilities. They have access to phantasms, glamour and mantra’s skills which remove conditions.

Are you dodging anything in particular or saving it for blurred frenzy?

It’s on a 10 second CD (the leap is on 12 seconds) so you may want to try saving your endurance for this.

EDIT* When traited with Blade Training the CDs are 8 seconds on Blurred Frenzy and 9.5 on the Leap with 0.75 second cast time.

Those screenshots don’t really answer my question though. Where are you getting that 20% MF from?

EDIT* Perhaps try swapping to mending, removes 2 CDs and shorter cooldown. I know it doesn’t heal as much. Unless you’re using Healing Surge as a form of getting Adrenaline..I only do that in PVE.

You are have 2 condi removals on pretty long CDs, both of which have activation times. Grab Shake it Off!

If they are bursting you when your CDs are down, GS #3 or #5 away when they use their sword #2

As G.I. Joe taught us, knowing is half the battle.

Mesmer’s have a lot of survivability through utilities. They teleport around, go invisible and can confuse the hell out of us, both literally and in game. It’s knowing how to react when they utilize these utilities that can make the difference in the fight.

As stated when the Mesmer is visible, mark him (you have to be in a party for this unfortunately). That gives you an edge of keeping sight on him and don’t waste any utility skills or high damage abilities on a clone or phanstasm. If you can’t be in a party you need to look for the red arrow which indicates the player.

Next is knowing how the utilities of the mesmer work so you know what to expect and can react real time to counter. I suggest you make a mesmer alt and jump into the Mists and play with their utilities and learn how they work. For example it’s your benefit knowing how long a mesmer can stay stealthed (with the weapon set they choose to use, some weapons provide additional invisibility).

Pay attention to your conditions! Confusion recently received a nerf but it’s still worth keeping a close eye on your conditions. You can take a good bit of your own HP if you aren’t watching these closely. Never tunnel vision!

Most importantly, practice. The more practice you have the better you will get both in killing mesmers and overall gameplay.

Far as the setup you’re running, I suggest you utilize GS #3 to chop down clones/phantasms before the mesmer can pop them. Obviously use your hammer stuns to support this process. If you can get the mesmer to blow his stun breaking abilities and then lock him down again you should be able to eat through good chunks of their health. Survive longer, and win.

An option to disable right click targeting

Our development team reviews play input on a regular basis. They are aware of this suggestion, but have not yet reached a decision on what changes, if any, they will make to targeting.

There is a lot going on right now with the upcoming event, but after that, the team will take a look at a lot of different game elements, and may make some changes in the future.

Sorry I don’t have more specific information, but you can be sure this is not being ignored or rejected without due consideration.
