You – and most “veterans” – did not want to be treated fairly. The whole thing was about getting something extra for being veterans…. That is pretty entitled.
Now you are acting entitled because you feel you deserve a “sorry”.
Well said!
Except Anet did nothing worth apologizing for. Just because people don’t agree with their product in it’s early state doesn’t mean they have to say sorry to everyone. People on the forums mock others for using this word but it’s a good word to describe people like you – entitled.
LOL – I disagree therefore I am entitled. I don’t want tons of free things, I wanted to be treated fairly, there is a difference mate.
“omg others are getting stuff for free!!!” “I want free stuff too” “CRY CRY CRY” There will no longer be the core game. Only HoT. You are not getting swindled or cheated out of anything get over yourself.
which is not what anet did. anet said “$50 for the expansion. oh, you’re a new player too? welcome! step in the back, we have a special extra for you.”
It is exactly what they did, they lumped core game for free which is the problem and they have not offered an expansion-only version for players who have already paid for the game.
You are not paying for the core game. In fact the core game will no longer be a thing.

Less of these wings i see the better! They don’t make sense lore wise, they are huge, and make characters look like they belong in second life.
They can swap between 2 sets of skills in combat. that means more healing/utility and elite skills in combat then the other professions. But really, does it matter if they have less? They play differently. I recommend reading the forums more since this has been talked about like everyday.
Oh boy! Someone decided to rant without knowing what he is actually ranting about! Might need to go back and read about the expansion friend.
I’m a veteran player and I never said or thought I was entitled so don’t tar us all with the same brush!
_The ONLY reason I’m not buying it yet is because the basic “bundle” doesn’t include a char slot. Why should I have to delete one of my 11 level 80’s? It should come with at least ONE slot. Until it does I’m not going to buy it.Will I cry or lose sleep about it? NO. It’s Arenanet’s loss.
Edit: cos of stange formatting & missing characters.
How many professions are in the core game and how many character slots did you start with?
Let us see… 8 profs and 5 slots… So your logic went out the window since launch.

You asked if we understood I’ll answer for myself, new players get the game + the expansion.
For the same money I pay regardless of which package I choose to buy, a new player gets 5x the value I do. Why do I say 5x? Because GW2 is massive and the xpac isn’t.
Base package for me… HoT (that’s it)
Base package for a new player…
HoT
GW2 the whole game
-5 character slots
-1 bank tab
-1 material storage vaultWe pay the same you can’t argue that’s equal value
Don’t forget what they will have from GW2 Heroic edition too:
+ Suit of Legacy armor
+ 20 slot Mithril box
+ 10 experience boostersThose who pre purchase GW2 core game didn’t got these. And now they are only selling Heroic edition. So I bet veteran’s will not get these either….
Except original GW2 can’t be purchased and once the expansion comes out it won’t exist. Games get cheaper and this only helps bring more players into the game which IS A GOOD THING.
Edit: replied to the wrong person sorry!

Keep quiet and cover your eyes and ears!
The forum isnt a censored dictatorship. People are allowed to voice their opinions. Telling people to “understand already” isnt going to accomplish anything, especially if you dont even understand why. If Anet wanted people to “understand already”, they should have done damage control by now. An official news about what $50 actually gets you. Not just HoT, but the future of GW2 as a whole. The next living story, halloween events, super adventure box, christmas events, lots of things planned for years to come, all for free, like the last 3 years. Make us hopeful about the game again instead of focusing on HoT alone.
No one is trying to censor the forums. These people Do need to understand already.
That expansion also didn’t come with new professions.
People are talking about Factions (released 2 slots for Ritualist and Assassin) and Nightfall (2 slots for Paragon and Dervish).
Whilst this is an expansion, it’s releasing a new profession, the basic $50 version should come with at least 1 new slot as part of the package. It would fall in line with their previous way of releasing slots with the introduction of new profession/s. Regardless of if it’s a expansion or standalone.
But those were not expansions, those were Stand Alone campaigns, they came with character slots for people with both. Eye of the North the only expansion didn’t come with slots.
- In hindsight, they are called stand alone games because Anet later released EotN. They were very much billed as expansions at launch, and EotN required extra explanation in it’s marketing to go on about how it wasn’t stand alone like the other expansions. It was also cheaper than those games. We have to pay essentially the same price as base game at launch to now get 3 zones and no character slots. Which leads to my next point.
- technically we are buying the base game again in addition to the expansion, which makes the comparison to the original class adding GW1 exspansions even more relevant since you still got some character slots for adding the stand alone expansions to your account. As it stands now, we are buying a 2nd account, and then having anet just throw it in the garbage for us. Giving us a measly 1 charecter slot from am entire account’s worth seems the least they could do.
- If Anet even briefly glanced at their forums, which we know they do from the red posts, then they know the general assumption was 1 expansion slot for the expansion. The fact they did this without explanation is proof they know they are being kittens. I mean, how much does a new character slot even cost them to provide? They could have just included it in the price and not said anything and we would have been happy, but they had to rub in our faces that they are not giving us even a single free character slot.
- None of this changes the fact that they lost out on 3 ultimate edition sales just in this short topic, and who knows how many more from the vast majority of players who silently logged off to not return, all because they insist on nickel and dimeing us. I can’t believe I’m they only one who is going to avoid buying gems with money until Anet makes this right.
So go ahead and nitpick about semantics to justify this terrible move on Anet’s part, but if this is the path they will be taking in the future…It has been a good 10 years, but I just don’t know…
I don’t care what people say or think factions and the others were, they are stand alone games which didn’t require you to have the original. There for are not expansions. Simple. You are trying to murky the waters to prove your point.
Objectively wrong. They expanded on the guild wars title as a whole, and are there for expansions. Regardless if they are stand alone or not, they expanded the world of tyria and are GENUINELY expansions.
How is that objectively wrong? When someone says “expansion”, people dont automatically assume it’s a seperate game on it’s own that you can choose to join to another game. that is why we are clearing up the details. Call them an expansion but that doesn’t make you right. You are still wrong. If you are going to throw two very different things under the same name and get angry that Anet doesn’t treat them the same you are an idiot.
You aren’t clearing up ANY details. You’re arguing semantics over campaign or expansion. I’m actually very much so, NOT wrong, because the titles: Guild Wars: Factions and Guild Wars: Nightfall, AND Guild Wars: Eye of the North, all REALLY DID expand the title, which one would assume, labels them as, you guessed it, expansions.
So every item in the GW1 store (costumes, etc) was also an expansion because they expanded the title.
Then your definition of expansion is meaningless here. Goo job! It matters because people are using it as justification for why they deserve more character slots. Guess what? the original is Guild Wars: Prophecies. Titles are titles that means nothing for this discussion. There is a clear difference between Heart of thorns and christmas candy cane hammer skin. So how about we talk about actual game expansions?

I mean, even Anet refered to then as expansions at the time, but whatever. Let’s just call them stand alone games then.
Do you know what else is stand alone? GW2, and it turns out we are forced into buying an additional copy of that too. Following your logic: When I essentially bought an extra account in factions and nightfall, and merged it with my existing prophecies account, I received 2 character slots for each “stand alone game” account merged. For HoT we are currently looking at buying another stand alone account (core GW2) that can be merged with an existing account and getting nothing in return for this extra expense.
I could see how you could argue that it is anets right to price gouge on such a small thing, which is certainly a valid point, but it is crystal clear that this is a serious change in direction for the company. A change that only a fool, or someone on the payroll, could support. As I have said from the beginning: this is a matter of principal, not price.
They specifically stated you are not paying for the core game. the price is for HoT expansion.
I am holding off on buying the expansion cause i’m on the fence, but to make up and skew facts is stupid.

- Saw that standard didn’t come with a character slot when every previous guild wars series expansion that added classes did, and I would also be paying for a base game account I don’t get, and literally logged out of game in disgust.
Technically wrong.
Only one expansion came out for Guild Wars 1 and that was Eye of the North. It did not come with Character slots.
Where have you been? GW1 had 3 expansions. The last one which was EotN was an expansion that was like $10 and precursor to GW2. The other 2 expansions all include character slots and an entirely whole new world and content that is equivalent to the original GW1 which you still need to purchase. It wasn’t given as a freebie.
Those are stand alone games that you can merge. You dont get free character slots with them, they just add all the slots you bought since you joined them all.GW1 had only one expansion and it didn’t come with a character slot. Don’t talk crap if you don’t know.
But that expansion also didn’t release a new profession. So here’s the confusion. Whenever there’s been new professions released in the previous games, they’ve given extra slots to accommodate that.
No there wasn’t. You are deciding what Anet’s intent was. They give you the slots because you paid for them. buy four slots in one game and 2 slots in another game then add them together to get 6!

What makes you entitled brats think they have a date for you? Seriously is this how you act at school or at work? They don’t have to tell you kitten and you should be lucky they show you the stuff they are working on.
Whoa calm down. Seriously Is that how you act at school or at work?
If OP came into my work place with his deluded sense of entitlement.. yea that is how i would act. Did he think that anet has given a date but he rather ask on the forums instead of just googling it? Or did he think they would reveal the date for everyone right here because he had a little cry over it?
There have been so many threads about this exact topic… Why not just read them? Also, I’m pretty sure Anet isn’t mentally disabled and they know people already have the skills we use. I have 5 level 80s and im fine getting all their skills again if that means i get updates.
Resetted?! really OP?!
What makes you entitled brats think they have a date for you? Seriously is this how you act at school or at work? They don’t have to tell you kitten and you should be lucky they show you the stuff they are working on.
It´s a Revenant not a schizophrenic(I hope).
I see it more of YOU plugging into THEIR powers and abilities, not getting outright possessed by them personally.
Which would be VERY bad with the Demon thingy.
You think the legends are hallucinations?
Thing is all you have to do is go to guildwars2.com and then scroll down instead of staff say about things Anet only knows.
I get people are excited and so am I. But Anet will be the first to confirm the reveals and if it helps follow their facebook page since they reveal it there simultaneously.
Gotta write it own into ur busy schedule? Anet will announce when they will reveal the next one, not us. How about just wait till it gets announced? patience is a good thing, it’s not like you will get to play it till the expansion is out.
So you don’t want any traits? Sure I wouldn’t call it viable but go for it!
I already talk about out running a centaur every 2 seconds, i rather not listen to a dead hippie centaur blabber in my ear about peace and how “dank” the pot he cultivated with the pale tree seeds was. Or listen to Shiro talk about how edgy and dark he is. Or Snaff (WHO WILL BE A LEGEND TO CHOOSE FROM BLESS HIS SOUL) technobabble about how his invention for telepathic control of golems revolutionized Rata Sums industrial progress.
jkjkjk I haven’t slept in days. I like the idea.
I don’t think you get what the point of chain attacks are for.
Does this need to be posted every week? Just wait till Anet tells us.
I hop mounts are never in this game.
Elementalists are getting sword. And I for one am not happy about it. To me, elementalists should blast their enemies from afar, not be up-close in combat. To me, that’s more like guardian or warrior sort of playstyle.
I would have liked to have seen greatsword or longbow for ele, but that’s not going to happen, so I just won’t use the ele specialisation, that’s all.
Argghh! Man I hate people who say this crap! Elite specs so far change the core profession and take it on a slight diff path then they stereotyped to be. Swords are fine. Battle wizard style would be really cool!
Fun trivia! Gandalf uses a sword!
As it stands now – I’m not a huge fan of the Revenant and ANet hasn’t stepped in to clarify some of the most obvious flaws in their design.
My primary issue is their lack of flexibility. When it comes to your skills you currently have 3-4 decision points. Two Legends then either a a single 2h weapon or a MH & OH. That makes them extremely restricted. Most professions get more flexibility in just their weapons – never mind being able to customize their utilities fully.
Having each Legend linked to a set 5 skills is a flaw I hope they address. All they have to do is give each legend about 5 utilities so that there is a greater degree of customization in that regard and they’ll probably be fine.
We haven’t been shown all the revenant’s weapons and skills yet… You can’t be this dumb can you?
Why would you think they would get their own map?
Next time tell us the test duration first..

Haha are you people actually having a cry over a test? Apparently nothing to good enough for you people! If you hate the way Anet runs their game kittening leave. just go. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out. I find it crazy that idiots get worked up over something so trivial.
We took a week off of elite specs for what?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Automaton.4926
I’m just tired of ANet’s imaginary hype. If there is nothing “big” for the following week, then be up front with us. But Rubi said there was something really special. Stop trying to hype something that isn’t there. We are all tired of it, stop treating us like kids.
If you don’t want to be treated like a kid DON’T ACT LIKE ONE! You actually get hurt over someone in a game company saying something “big” is being shown in a weeks time and when it isn’t what you want to hear you go to the forums and cry? That is really pathetic.
I love the new change and I’m not stupid enough to think the expansion is set back a week because they didn’t mention an elite spec.
Thats the Flame Legion’s flamethrower.
