This is STILL bugged. I finally decided to take the 10k buff out of my mail to see if it had been fixed, and it consumed an additional 10k influence. The timer, however, did work. :/
Tarnished Coast
Can anyone confirm if the boosts are working? I still haven’t accepted them out of my mail because I don’t want to waste them.
Tarnished Coast
I’m also curious to know about the 100k~ influence we spent, or if it was rolled over from our last spent.
We spent 10k and 100infl to see if there was anything, and it’s only counting down from 57s now. Can someone perhaps give me a thorough explanation of what we’re supposed to be seeing in the mining window?
We have Cap2 and Speed1 if it makes a difference.
Tarnished Coast
We spent 100k on our boost as well, and didn’t receive the benefits.
I am not spending again, and am hoping for some sort of boost, or refund – anything to make up for what we lost as a result.

Logged into the forums to make a post about this, and found this one buried a few pages back… Noticed this on my Engineer who has an infused rings and an infused backpiece – they did not receive their bonuses. Hopefully we see a fix soon. : (

It’s not just you. It seems that all items that were transmuted are showing the incorrect skin in the preview window. If you equip the item it should look fine.
At least, that has been my experience so far.
Phew! What a relief ;w; Thank you so much for this~

Same issue. But I ran on Med-High settings (as is my standard for auto-detect) and wakittenting an average of 55-65fps. I now see 5-20fps on average. As much as I enjoy seeing everyone’s gorgeous toons, it’s also a little aggravating as well.
Tarnished Coast
A while ago, I purchased the Phoenix set with my gems for my lowbie Mesmer – and the transmute worked just fine. After gaining a few levels, I transmuted most of my gear over to level 15~20 stuff using stones and had no issues… however today I went onto my Mesmer, and previewed my Shoulders (which are level 20 at the moment, two levels above my base level) and they’re showing up as my crafted set, and not the Phoenix ones!
The icon and the name clearly says “Phoenix Mantle”, but previewing them does not show them as such. I am now extremely worried that one, this is not a bug and that I wasted my gems, and two, that if I transmute the rest of the set with stones again, I will lose the skin and thus the 800 gems I put out for the look.
Is there anyone (red post) who can testify to this being a bug or not? ): I don’t really want to spend more gems with a sale coming up…
inb4/you chose the wrong skin when transmuting.

Read and loved the book
Great addition to the lore bridging GW1 and GW2. I just wish it was out last year.
It is great! There’s nothing wrong with the books – the problem is the plaques contain minor to major spoilers of the book, and that’s not good promotion for it at all.
Tarnished Coast
You’re welcome; a guildmate of mine had no idea, either. I thought it would be best to warn the forums. :x
Tarnished Coast
These are to promote the new book, Sea of Sorrows; I was lucky to receive my copy last week, thanks to Amazon Canada, and I’ve been engrossed in it yet haven’t finished it quite yet.
I was excited for the Marriner’s Plaques, because I wanted to see the little spots I read about put in the spotlight in the game. However, I read the one at Macha’s Landing – big mistake.
These are supposed to promote the book, Anet, not slap us in the face with spoilers.
To my fellow bookreaders: do not read these plaques until you have finished the book. I now fear running into more spoilers, and will be putting this off until I finish the book, and I suggest others do the same if they are only partially or midway through.

Something like this is very effective for a more support build that still does a lot of condition damage. It is very effective, I am using it currently both in team fights, GvG, and solo roaming.
I change out burn on crit for larger bomb explosion radius depending on situation.
You could also swap sigil of corruption for sigil of life if you wanted even more support by boosting healing instead of damage. Which I am going to play with myself next time I do an all guild WvW night to see if the added healing is stronger than the added damage.
It would also be a very easy transition, I was running basically all rabid myself and simply swapped my jewelry over for Apothecary (which is cheap now!).
This is awesome, and good to know I only need to make a couple of changes. I’m definitely going to be trying this out; thank you so much
well an easy way to provide more group healing is to swap something for thumper turret.
If you drop thumper, overcharge it, and then denotate and hit the tool belt. Basically 2 double taps with the right keybinds, you get 3 instant blast finishers you can toss on a water field for a burst of AoE healing from your healing turret’s tool belt.
Or 4-5 blasts with your bomb + healing turret detonate.
All in all if you time it well and get use to running it, you can do burst heals of 3-5k AoE every minute.
It is also nice for might stacking on a fire field, you can easily set your team up with 9-12 stacks before a fight.
Keep in mind the turret detonate blast finisher is now off you, and not the turret, so be sure to stand in the fields when you use them.
I’ll have to fiddle with the Thumper! I haven’t used it in a really, really long time. Thanks for your suggestion, I’ll give it a whirl!

Hello fellow Engineers! I’ve been reading the forums a lot lately, but I thought I would ask my question directly: How can I improve my build?
For some back story, I, like many others, have been playing the game since Beta. Since then, I’ve played an Engineer, and although I have two other level 80s and the other five classes at my disposal, my Engineer is always the one I fall back to. I love her to pieces, and I wouldn’t have her any other way.
Anyway, I run a Condition/Crit build (and I have been running this build since October), but I like to provide support to my group as well (I mostly run with my guild), so I wanted to see if there were some of you here who could suggest ways I can be more support (Note: There isn’t a lot of CD removal outside of my Healing Turret because I regularly run with Guardians/Warriors/Necromancers), although I am considering a more in-your-face tanky build as well (If you can provide suggestions of how to make that transition, that’d be awesome too!)
Gear
Armour: Full Twilight Arbour Rabid (Pr/CD/Tgh) gear, head to toe
Main Hand: Mystic Pistol of Corruption (Superior Sigil of Corruption)
Off Hand: Mystic Pistol of Earth (Superior Sigil of Earth) (Occasionally swapped for a Kodan Shield)
Accessories
Back: Prototype Fractal Capacitor (Rabid)
Earrings: Gargoyle Skull, Chrysocola Orichalcum Earring of Carrion
Amulet: Jade Wind Orb
Rings: Ouroboros Loop (Infused), Mellaggan’s Whorl
I run 30/30/10/0/0, and my utilities for groups usually look like:
6: Healing Turret
7: Elixir R
8: Bomb Kit (Often switched for Elixir S if running Lupi)
9: Grenade Kit
Elite: Supply Drop
As it stands, I think I do decent damage output and I still provide minimal support.. but I’d like to be able to swap it up every now and then and go mostly support. What do you guys suggest for someone in my case? I’m also more than happy to hear out some suggestions regarding on how I can improve my current build (Utilities I can change? Accessory suggestions? Trait changes? Lemme know!)
Thanks in Advance,
- Nova

Hi Launch! My guild, Nex Praeconus, is a tight-knit PVE focused (Although we dabble in WvW) guild on Tarnished Coast. We run dungeons and fractals on a daily basis, have a private mumble for you to use, and we also run guild missions. We’re currently sitting at about 17 active members, and we mostly play evenings and weekends.
If you’re interested and would like more information, here is my original thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/guilds/guilds/TC-Nex-Praeconus-is-Recruiting-PvE/first#post1982599
I see that you’re trying to contact people in game, but I will be offline until later this evening, about 930PM PST/1239AM EST due to real life’s callings. Feel free to drop a mail message to me, however, and I’ll respond as soon as humanly possible.

Hey Mishy!
My Guild, Nex Praeconus, is a small tight-knit group consisting of about 15 active members. Most of us play weekends and evenings due to other obligations (work, school, and internships). We’re PVE focused and run dungeons and fractals on a daily basis. We also run bounties, and are currently building treks in our queue right now!
If you would like more information, send me a PM or message me in game! If you would like to refer to our recruitment post, it is here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/guilds/guilds/TC-Nex-Praeconus-is-Recruiting-PvE/first#post1984563

Adventurers!
Nex Praeconus is openly recruiting active players of all play-styles and of any class. We are a PvE-focused, non-roleplay guild located on Tarnished Coast with anywhere from a dozen to nearly twenty active members on during peak-periods/missions. Our members are mature, with everyone over the age of 20, fun-loving, and each with a good sense of humour. And although we as a whole do not roleplay, we do have select members who do enjoy doing so in parties.
Our playtimes are mostly focused on evenings and weekends in particular, with members focused in mainly PST and EST timezones.
So what can we do for you? By joining [NeX], we can offer you:
*a private mumble for you to use for coordination and chatting (currently 15 member maximum)
*members who are willing to help you achieve your ingame goals
*members who enjoy and actively pursue dungeons and fractals
*leadership with an open-door policy
*guild missions: bounties & treks
There is no application process, although we do look for members who are not into multi-guilding. Experience in dungeons/fractals is a bonus!
If you are interested, please contact myself via PM, or any of the officers in game!
Guild Leader: Nova Arterius
Second in Command: Miraza
Officers: Talon Al Thor, The Slenderest, Painz, Uskar The Seer, Babatazaza
We look forward to gaming with you,

why is 23s for ecto to low? explain to me how its an issue?
If at any point the explanation contains anything a long the lines of “selling ecto’s is my main source of income” it automatically fails.
^^ This.
What the heck is the OP so concerned about, anyway? Ectos are “too low”..? Too low for what?
Everyone needs ectos, either for exotics or for some of the ascended craftables. Anyone concerned with a Legendary weapon literally needs hundreds of them, in addition to a kitten-ton of everything else. How does it make the game better to make ectos nefariously hard to come by? And if you no longer get a guaranteed rare from any world boss events, then you will have far less people doing them or even visiting those zones.
Frankly, it just seems like you have some ectos to spare, and want to make more gold off of your sales.
Ectos are far too easy to get. That’s the point. The market is going to get even more flooded with them. The devs have stated they like ecto as a currency. It’s not going to be a currency of value, if it keeps getting inflated.
They like ectos as a currency? Can you cite this? I thought one of the reasons they had the trading post was the way ectos acted as a currency in Guild Wars 1 and they were trying to keep this from happening.
The only place I have seen ectos used as a currency is at the laurel vendors. 50 ectos + 30 laurels for certain ascended items, iirc.
In all honesty, I fail to see the issue with ectos falling in price.

Is there any chance of us seeing some of these in the future? We have pirate outfits, but no eye patches... It would also be nice, since I have a character who wears one due to an affliction from her past (roleplay), and it would nice to be able to wear town clothes that help reflect this... liiiiiike an eye patch! (Just using myself as an example; I have spoken to a few people with similar scenarios, or just want one to go with their pirate gear!)
Anything like this planned in the future for the pirate folk, roleplayers, and those who simply want to look like a tough kitten?

My guildmate just had this problem; I pointed him to Snowden Drifts, in the most north-western corner (Ossencrest Climb). It’s just south of the waypoint in that same corner as well.

Quoth one of my members, "We’re the little guild that could."
My guild of about a dozen members just unlocked bounties and a couple of tiers, and we’re quite proud of that, even if it dented our banks a bit. We just put in some gold for 20k influence and are already working on treks, and have devised plans to earn more gold and influence so we can continue opening these missions up.
If you’re determined, and motivated, you can do it. Although, yes, I will admit, this is a little harsh on us guilds with <25 members, and it needs to be reassessed. I understand this was mainly for bigger guilds with all this influence, but smaller guilds like mine and others shouldn’t be left on the back burner.
Tarnished Coast
My only gripe with this is 15 minutes feels... too short. Especially when you might have Sotzz, Prisoner 1141, or Trekksa, all of whom I understand have very long confusing paths ( or random locations, such as Sotzz). My biggest suggestion, which I have read a few times in the last few pages, is either have a longer timer, or no timer at all, preferably the latter. I only say no timer because it’ll encourage people to explore, and actually understand the maps, as opposed to flanking an npc, hoping it’s near a wip, and popping a bounty. And if another guild gets there first, well at least you have another opportunity to find it! Even doubling the time helps!
I’m not sure I understand all these people saying they couldn’t find the guys in time.. you know you can find them BEFORE you click begin, right?
We’re aware of this, but keep in mind at the beginning of my post I say we only have 12 members at the most, and presently, our daily high is anywhere from 7-8. If I had all 12 of my members, sure, I’d be able to ask them all to scout 12/15 maps. Also, we attempted a bounty in a party of 5 for fun, to try and understand the dynamics of it first hand so we could have a discussion on it.
Also, you are aware that Sotzz, our second bounty, has something like 300 random locations on his map? He is in one of the random suspicious barrels you can find on the map.
So yes, we know we can spread ourselves out and try and find the npc, but is this isn’t necessarily all that helpful when you, again, have a small guild like mine. Besides, we’re on Tarnished Coast, and I have yet to encounter anyone short of helpful, so asking map chat isn’t exactly an issue.
Yes you can, but if there are only 4 or 5 of you online you can’t track all 15
^ . Just because it’s easy for a bigger guild to do it, doesn’t mean a small guild necessarily can. This is why these missions need to be tweaked (time, especially).
Edit: The problem is, if another, bigger guild, gets one of your bounties (or both, say if you’re having bad luck), then you have to find them again and you’ll run out of time, subsequently/potentially failing the bounty and not getting rewarded.

(edited by Autumn.5093)
As a leader of a small guild (We currently have 12 members I see on regularly including myself, 7 during a high period currently due to impending finals and real life), I asked my members if we should try for bounties. My answer was, unanimously, yes. Having AoWT2 only, and only 10k infl banked, we knew we had our work cut out for us.
Without purchasing gems (none of us did so), we poured 100g into influence to buy the necessary upgrades for bounties. Although we had made dents in our gold purses, we were excited. After days upon days upon days of waiting, two nights ago we finished building bounties; and we were proud of that. I tossed in four queues for T1 Bounties, and one T2 when we could muscle up to it mid-april when the other half of my members return (making us 12 again).
Yesterday, we decided we wanted to see what we were up against. I rallied just five of us, made sure we were all on mumble, kept my list of bounty names + their maps in my notebook (I keep paper at my desk for such things), and set a timer on my phone for 15 minutes. Making sure everyone is ready, I activated our bounty. I called out Kessex, for Poobadoo, and explained the general area we would have to be looking.
Excitedly, we ported to Ireko WP which is along the line for the quaggan, and searched for about 3 minutes. A guildie found him, thankfully close to Ireko (he wandered in after we set out), and we burned him down in about a minute. I called out Gendarran next, because we were unfortunately stuck with Sotzz. I loaded in quickly and after a few minutes of searching on our own, we asked map chat. Someone had called out that they were burning him down near a waypoint, so we quickly rushed over there, but unfortunately missed making a mark due to the 30~some people already there. With 7 minutes left, we set out again, but unfortunately failed in finding him.
However, despite failing, we still had fun, and discussed what we could do differently next time. We didn’t feel like we had wasted in the influence, and decided it was just a goal for us to work on as a whole (whether it be recruiting, or just becoming more coordinated).
I only say no timer because it’ll encourage people to explore, and actually understand the maps, as opposed to flanking an npc, hoping it’s near a wp, and popping a bounty. And if another guild gets there first, well at least you have another opportunity to find it! Even doubling the time helps!
All in all, this is definitely possible for smaller guilds (I would recommend at least a party and a half, so 7/8, to about two full parties), but if you can’t coordinate as a unit, then I suggest you don’t. I’m lucky that when leadership was handed to me, I had already been playing with a steady core group for four months, and it’s been easy to integrate new members as we get them, and learn their play styles as they learn our. It’s a learning curve, but we’re willing to make it for the content. However...
Anet, I know you haven’t commented on the original thread, and now this merged one, but please make this more enticing for the large guilds, but also to the small ones like mine. Make it so that us smaller guilds who have <20 members actually have a chance (more time) without feeling like they need to integrate into bigger guilds, and make it scale more for the larger guilds, so that their members actually see the benefit in this (actually able to tap the target/scale hp to group size, etc so that they can receive commendations/50s). I speak as someone who discussed this over and over again with her members, who wanted this as much as they did, and who wants to be able to successfully complete a bounty as opposed to only getting it, say, every one out of three tries. Make bounties enticing, because people will actually feel it is worth it in the end, and worth working towards your other missions.
This content is lovely, it just needs to be tweaked. And please, for the love of Dwayna, don’t forget us little/med guilds. We can’t exactly compete with >100 people guilds.

The second part of Vexa’s lab mini dungeon, where you have to climb platforms and stairs to enter blue portals and fall out of orange ones is a reference to Portal. Also, the way she speaks to you is very GLaDOS like. The little bots might be turrets. Her shark tank is a reference to James Bond, if I recall a guildie saying once.
Also, in the Volcano fractal, if you hug the right wall jumping over the lava to get to the boss, there’s a skeleton clutching a treasure chest in Indiana Jones’ hat.

Hello everyone, this is my first post on these forums.
I have a question/concern.
I am from the Northern Shiverpeaks Sever and it seems as I am running around questing, there is NO ONE to be seen. even when I ghost to the "bigger" severs, I can’t seem to find anyone, even in Lions Arch. It makes me feel like I am alone playing this game. And its not because I am in overflow, because I wasn’t.I guess what I am asking is where are people? Is everyone just hanging out in Orr or is there really that few of players playing?
My guildies and I up and brought ourselves over to Tarnished Coast when it was still free because of this.; we were on NSP as well.

It currently costs nothing to switch servers; starting on the 28th it will cost gems. Your wvw team is correspondent to your homeworld, so it would be sorrows if you did indeed switch
I had a similar reason for switching, and my guildies and I relocated to Tarnished Coast, where we’ve noticed a much more active wvw community, but that part is up to you or what you take from other comments

Is there no possible way to freeze the account without a ticket? This is extremely unsettling.

Additional Info:
We are located on Northern Shiverpeaks server.
We noticed this occurring last Tuesday, December 18, 2012.
We were online, and noticed one of our usually inactive guildmates was online, in Dredgehaunt Cliffs. A few of us messaged him via guild, simple chit chat, a couple of us sent tells to see if he was interested in running any dungeons or anything of the like. He never responded, and we brushed it off as AFK (As he is prone to doing so).
The next day, we noticed he was still in Dredgehaunt. We messaged again, no response, thought it was AFK again and left it.
However, the next day, we noticed he wasn’t representing the guild anymore (Extremely unlike him). We sent him tells with absolutely ZERO responses.
On this same day, we had our guild leader who has his IRL contact information send him a text message to confirm our suspicions: yes, he was being hacked. We thought our guildmate would try and boot the person off, but he’s taken no action.
I know my guildmate might not care, but the few of us who have noticed this are very unsettled by knowing this is occurring.
Thorsx, the person who isn’t representing, is who I am referring to. Is there anything that can be done about this situation? Freeze the account until my guildmate can unfreeze it?

I was playing my Norn recently and noticed this image in my personal story (Attached: a female norn looking like a SoS with her arm on an icebrood although it is cropped) of a female Sons of Svanir. I have seen the original image by the artist as well, and it is titled aptly as such (if I can find the source of their art, I’ll haul it up, but I’m at a loss currently).
However, in the norn starting zone, there is a skill challenge vs a SoS along the midsection at the right side, and when prompted, my Norn asked him why they had no women in their ranks. He replies they are too soft/weak.
So I’m wondering, if there are no women amongst the SoS, why is this image in the game? I don’t know if this was overlooked, or if there are female SoS somewhere and we might hear of them later but even according to the wiki:
This all-male cult of norn have rejected their race’s reverence for the Spirits of the Wild. Instead, they’re obsessed with emulating what they see as the greatest predator in Tyria: the Elder Dragon Jormag, who drove the norn from the northern Shiverpeaks over a century ago.
— Codex Of Svanir
&
Women are not allowed to join the cult because of Jora’s "crimes" against Dragon.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sons_of_Svanir
So what’s going on here? Thoughts? Was this just overlooked by someone who was putting together the UI for the personal story?
Edit: I just noticed this picture is also on the wiki page =A= LOL why!

Basically, I want clarity, like others I have been talking to mapchat, whether or not we’ll be able to find 50 cogs somewhere before the end of the event so that instead of two toys, we as a general population, can make three. That’s it.
I already stated more than once now that yes, I understand who they were originally designated to those who didn’t receive them in DR/wherever, but I don’t want to destroy the things only to have it come out that hey here’s 50 cogs go make a new toy! Yeah? Yeah.
Tarnished Coast
(edited by Autumn.5093)
They are account bound~ And yes, I’m aware they’re for those that were cheated from their cogs, but how do they benefit the rest of us?
Tarnished Coast
Upon receiving my gift from Tixx (thanks for the new bag and the presents!), I was gleeful to receive 200 cogs… until I realized I didn’t have the additional 50 to make a new toy.
So my question is, are we going to be able to receive 50 more through Wintersday… or are we just stuck with 200 cogs? I understand that it’s to benefit people who missed out on some cogs due to disconnecting/lag/bug issues, but what about those (including myself) who didn’t suffer these issues? We don’t necessarily benefit from something taking up inventory/bank space.
If we’re going to be receiving additional cogs by participating in more events as a part of Wintersday…
Please let us know!
Tarnished Coast
I personally keep a couple of rifles in my inventory, but I switched to dual pistols with the Superior Sigil of Earth and Superior Sigil of Corruption (I’m a Precision/Condition Damage build, full TA armour with grenade spec) and I personally just enjoy sitting back and laying down my skills on my pistols and then lobbing out some more grenades. I’ve (personally) found it makes some things easier when rolling with my party, and I’ve actually started to have more fun, despite the nerfing.
But to each their own, of course.
