I’ve only ran with APeX that one night so far so I don’t really know what typically goes on just what I saw so I posted what I saw. I haz no issues with you guys doing what you want and pretty sure I posted was fun fights for the most part.

I just didn’t understand the accusations flying at APeX of being “troll” nor the number deductions. The context I set originally was we engaged FEAR (whom fielded slightly similar numbers if not a tad more) had them just about wrapped up in camp then “X” zerg shows with most of the tags in it that stood out being “RET” and even clarified it with stating it was a hybrid zerg mix of other tags with you (my guess is militia) that made a zerg of 30+. That being said if you are running 5-10 and militia in tow does it stand you had about 30+ and the context I said was correct? I believe so and no where did I lace it with accusations of your guild being troll or “bad” at GvG yata yata. It was the account of what happened to demonstrate the disparity APeX was fighting because it wasn’t a set group that was smaller than what was fielded by APeX even with us 3 yumy hazing funz with themz.

You add both groups together then at that point you talking about odds even more so out of their favor.

I gave an unbiased context on what was witnessed since I was the last one to die in the wipe based on my spec. I am not affiliated with APeX outside of being fwendz with some of their players from sPvP landz.

This sounds as if RET is never seeming to fight them on their terms and was very backhanded and snide. To me, this is insinuating that RET relies on FEAR in wait. This was a single night and not a reflection of what happens on a night to night basis which is why I said your comments were out of context. It’s easy to have a skewed view of things when you don’t have all of the data.

I then proceeded to explain in my post as to WHY we haven’t been able to fight them on their terms. I only replied to you because you’re doing the defending of their guild for them based on the multiple responses you’ve made.

As for context, no, just because there may be more that have followed us does not mean that WE, as in RET, are fielding those numbers just because our tags stick out in front. From the way I’m interpreting your response, you’re using the whole “you” terminology to insinuate as if RET, the guild, is asking these people to follow or that we are specifically asking for “militia”, which is not true. If you replaced “you” with “the SoR forces” then I would be more in line with what I believe you’re trying to say. One must also remember how very tiny these WvW maps really are and how easy it is for forces to run into one another or happen to go in similar directions/for similar objectives. Is it fair for me to say that since KnT hit us with you guys that you were fielding a team of KnT AND APEX AND yumy? I mean, you all ran together at a point…

It’s also unnecessary to even call out RET for having more forces in tow or working with larger forces when that unprovoked comment above, from an APEX leader, was complaining about larger forces. Every time RET has faced APEX it’s been with them having the larger force and not once have we come to the boards to complain or make a backhanded comment, so that’s why it was pointed out as a “troll” comment. If they’re that upset, set up a GvG is all I’m saying…

I’m also not saying you said we are bad or anything. I was only pointing out how RET works as a guild currently and responding to your single view of an event. I apologize if any of this seems like an attack on you – it’s not. Responding on a forum you can’t hear my inflections or tone. I’m only trying to be logical in my responses and wish to show you respect, but also point out what I see are flaws in your argument(s).

You are completely taking things out of context because you, as you stated, only run with [APEX] on occasion. Please allow me to clear some stuff up:

First, [RET] can NOT control who follows us or tags along with us. We will typically ask them to not follow us when we see others outside of guild, but if they continue to then I’m sorry, but that’s out of our control. We want even fights as much as the next guy.

Second, [RET] plays small man. We go with who or what we have on. Many times we are NOT optimized to play the OMGWTFBBQUberL337 setup meta ROFLSTOMP game. Think of us as more of a pickup squad who try and synergize best with others that are on. Under most circumstances we have 10 or less. I believe we’ve had close to 20 ONCE, and sometimes 13-15, but typically it’s 10 or less and usually in the 8 range. If we are running from your [APEX] group it’s because our 8-10 can’t compete with your setups of 15-20. APEX runs a tight group, and we know this so it behooves us to either not engage or try and get you when you’re least expecting it. If we don’t have the numbers and others do to where we can’t get a fair fight, then we’ll join up on occasion with some larger squads to even out the numbers.

Also, [RET] will play off of the zergs as support sometimes when asked. And sometimes certain other guilds, like [FEAR] just happen to be in the area and hit groups when we do. These are SMALL world maps after all compared to some other games out there.

Finally, [RET] likes to GvG because we feel it’s a better indicator of our group and players as a whole. Yes, you can do some impressive things in WvW with certain setups, but like I said before, we are more of a pickup squad usually and we’re working on trying to have set times to gather and have more optimal setups. What I’m basically saying is that if anyone wants a serious look at how we play on even/optimal terms then we should set up a GvG otherwise you’ll always have people jumping in as opportunists from each side.

Pardon me, as I’m not typically someone who peruses the boards typically. I’m not sure if this has been suggested before or not, but this is an idea I came up with that I think would be a viable change for the necromancer. I propose that Spectral Walk is changed from a swiftness buff and a trail of green to a stealth and a either a minor health regen or keep the swiftness.

The reason for this is because the stealth will give the necromancer a way to " get away" which much of community seems to feel is lacking for this class. All the other classes have stealths, ports, leaps, tents, spins, etc that allow them some movement options to escape fights. The necro is severely lacking this. I know the developers want us to rely on our death shroud, but no other class has to rely on just their health or just their armor. They all have forms of mobility and the necro is the one class that doesn’t seem to have this.

The other reason is because the stealth will be, in my opinion, more in line with the death walk part of the class. A stealth is almost like the necro is moving into another plane of existence. The current spectral walk is really a beacon for finding the necro…just follow the green lined road and you’ll find a pot of gold at the end. People may argue that you can hit the ability and port back where you started, but once again, all the other classes have ways to close on the necro and the green trail is kind of a giveaway as to where they started. With the stealth, the necro can then CHOOSE which path they want to take and will be harder to follow.

I’m approaching this from a WvW aspect and not a sPvP, so I’m not sure how it’d work out in sPvP, but for those of us in WvW it would allow some wiggle room from the constant immobilizes, pulls, etc.

I haven’t watched your video, but I can attest to the “KILL THE NECRO!” mentality. I get focused first in 99% of small group engagements.

It was a really long swim, but I finally got through it all and surfaced into an underwater cave that seemed to be placed under the garrison.

In this cave I found all the glory that Indo stolen from you all! Now you know where he hides all the stolen glory. Go and retrieve what is rightfully yours!

Kittens do not have the same financial value as glory unfortunately. They are mesmerizing though.

We were missing a couple of our melee but it wasn’t excuse worthy. From fighting them, they really aren’t doing anything much different than us… they just did it better. Simply put, we got out played.

Uhm… ? I’m amazed how easy some fights were then if we did exactly the same.

I am not sure why you feel the need to be disrespectful towards people giving you props for playing well. Is that a euro/culture thing or just a personality flaw?

The point I’m trying to make is that we totally not did the same, which isn’t meant disrespectful at all.
What is disrespectful is saying you guys did the same without even knowing what we did. Only by saying we ran a ‘’nasty melee train’’ you already point out that you’re wrong at our setup, let alone our tactics.

We know about your range support, single target assisting, and the way you peeled off to power rez your dead as well as the many other things you were doing.

I’m not sure you know what you’re doing either if you think your “nasty melee train” wasn’t the major factor in your GvGs. The blobbing and constant buffs are what kept you up. Take either of those away and I’m not sure your outcomes would have been the same. I mean, why do you think you have a large melee train and blob if not for the reason I stated above? You can keep constant pressure up without worry about buffs being stripped.

I apologize for TW wanting to help their realm in WvW and their realm (er, server) wanting to run behind Indo or any person in TW with a commander tag. We will do our best to petition ANet to create a wall to barricade people from follow us around.

From what I heard in TS, TW didn’t have enough melee on or their normal gvg MA.

I feel like it’s going to be difficult to coordinate proper GvGs between the different time zones just because of playtimes.

Was definitely fun to watch and listen to though.

Our melee MA was on. No excuses, RG was a tough heck of a fight and they beat us fair and square.

We know what we did wrong and what needs to be done to improve. We’ll make our changes.

We have a theory about this. Some of us think that BG does overtime on the weekends pulls 24/36/48 hour shifts. This is why they always have such a good start and dominate the scoreboard on the weekend. Then they burn out and by the begining of the weekday they are either too tired to play or the other part of this strategy is to demoralize the other server by pushing so kitten weekends and get far enough ahead of them that the other server will be too demoralized and behind to win. Then they they have a weak showing on monday and early week becasue all of thief pugs think “haha yea we are sooo good we won this matchup already, lets go do pve” Then next time they check the score board BG isnt winning anymore. and then they are like" SoR and JQ double teams us they cheat"

Hmm, I’m a BG, and I pull around 6-10 hours shifts in weekend and 3 hours on weekdays (work), I don’t PVE, and I’ve never mentioned 2V1/cheat in my gaming life ever, so your theory isn’t quite right there :P

As a scientist IRL, I’d like to say that this sample size is a terrible representation of the population as a whole. Your opinion makes this study inconclusive. More data is needed. Theory is still sound…

Word is a couple of guilds on SoR aren’t too happy about TW’s transfer shenanigans. It isn’t helping the fact that some of those players already felt a little swindled by a false promise of good fights during the guild’s prime time.

Hopefully TW’s obsession with BG doesn’t destroy that #1 NA community. eek.

Word is Indo is really the legendary Bigfoot and any time he goes AF Kay it’s because he has to hide from the hunters. It isn’t helping the fact that he’s an awesome commander and feels a little swindled by a lack of privacy.

Hopefully Cyrrix’s obsession with TW and Indo doesn’t destroy his #1 night a week to relax. eek.

Isn’t LA undefeated at home in the playoffs this year and last? I’m not sure the Hawks will win, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see that series go 7 games. Both teams are very talented and deep.

Not too surprised about the Pens tho, their defense and especially goaltending have been suspect in the last two years of playoffs. Crosby definitely didn’t look himself in the last game, aside from the gamesmanship bs he’s quite well known for, and I don’t think the team as a whole has played to their potential. Islanders came very close to winning their series and, honestly, the Senators got lucky in drawing the Canadiens in the first round. Montreal played decent throughout the year, but really seemed to tail off towards the end of the regular season. We’ll see though, the Pens have it in them to win the series, but I don’t think that’s gonna happen.

Yeah, LA is undefeated at home, but that still doesn’t mean anything. A stat is a stat and stats change. Anything can happen. That’s why I prefer playoffs and finals that are series rather than a one and done.

Pens got the easiest route they could in the playoffs. Isles need some solid goal scorers and a shutdown D to be legitimate. They’re close to being regular contenders. They have a lot of speed and a couple improving stars and some underrated forwards. Senators got lucky with Montreal. Montreal was injury ridden and still took it to the Sens. Bruins are the first REAL test for the Pens, but when Pens D plays shutdown defense like I’ve seen, then Bruins will be beatable. Like I said, Pens will be winning games by one goal if they want to win – like they did in the regular season (which were more like playoff games than regular season games). Tonight’s game will be telling on how they’ll respond.

Dude! Pens haven’t played. Some other team has played. With that said, they need a statement game for game 3 or that series is done. Boston has played on point/clutch! Pens can win if they show up and play fundamental hockey and stop trying to beat the Bruins by being the Bruins (getting physical). They also need to stop the stretch passes with the 2-3 defense the Bruins are playing. Crosby was a freakin’ embarrassment in Game 2 and Letang has played worse than a Peewee kid all series.

I predicted this series being 6 games and Pens winning. I still stick by Pens winning, but it’ll prob. be 7 games now. I’ll know after tonight’s game.

As for LA/Chicago, I predicted a 6 game series with Chicago winning it. L.A. is tough to beat at home, but not unbeatable.

Engineer has a much steeper learning curve than guardian imo.

This is the one class I haven’t played yet. I do agree that it’s tougher than a lot because of the juggling with different kits – like the ele and their different Captain Planet powers. Ele is missing “heart” though.

Elthurien, several RvR-focused guilds with a long history together from WAR/DAOC had wanted to join up on the same server, but ended up splitting choices. Tempest Wolves, Irony and most of the DAOC vets chose Jade Quarry while Vigilance, Knight/War Templars and Reveille le Lion decided on SoR to avoid the anticipated queues (and because Fog invited us).

I believe their intent was to get away from the massive queues on Jade Quarry and join up with the rest of us. It has nothing to do with any of the recent successful wins on SoR.

As for balance, it will come through moving up in tiers.

I had to quote this because what was said about the guilds moving from JQ is EXACTLY correct.

I’m sorry you have 30 minute queues now. We came from 2 – 6 + hour queues. To be honest, it’s not exactly fair of someone to say, “GTFO of our server because our queues are so long!” Having 4 servers with 6 + hour queues vs about 9 others with 30 minute queues is silly when all of that can be distributed a bit more evenly across ALL servers.

As for this match playing out as it is…SoR will now move up a tier or 2 (based on EOL). Competition will be different based on who you face next matchup. With all the guilds leaving the T1 servers for lower tiers, you’ll see the competition even out a bit which is a beautiful thing and makes WvW way more fun in the long run. I intend to play this game for the long run with friends and my guild…
