Awesome, thanks Zagzag! I just sent one in. Probably won’t hear back until tomorrow sometime, so I’m going to stay off the account just in case.
Hey everyone!
So, I came back to GW2 recently, and I decided to delete some old characters that I haven’t been on in a while. Two of them had Birthday Gifts waiting for me. I dropped them into my bank and deleted the characters. Turns out, those Gifts needed to be opened first. And now they’re trapped in my bank because they’re Soulbound.
Is there anything I can do to possibly unlock these Birthday Gifts? Part of the reason I ended up creating a new character was so I could get a nice jump on some levels. But now they’re locked permanently. :/
Thanks for any help!
Thanks guys!
After rereading my first post, it does seem like I never want to dodge ever. But like Belzebu said; I just want a bit of a safety net. I’m getting used to dodging, and its really not that bad. But if I look away for just a few hits, I’m pretty much dead. I know I will get more tanky as I level, but I really want to focus on it so I can survive and heal/actually help with a fight.
I will definitely check out Zealot gear. Thanks again!
Hey everyone!
So far, I’ve only played heavy-armour classes like Warrior and Guardian because I can’t stand constantly having to dodge and dieing all the time. But I really like Elementalists, so I want to make a tank that can actually hold their own for a while. I don’t know much about builds and traits, so if anyone can tell me what the best options would be for a tank, I’d appreciate it.
Thanks!
So now I have a question:
How do I find out about hidden features on each map? I was in Lion’s Arch in June, and I got a Vista (may have been a PoI). Anyway, I mis-stepped and fell into Dragonsmaw. I had no idea what it was or what to do, but when I asked, practically everyone on the map came to help out. I’ve also discovered some random things I never knew about in maps that I have 100% completion in.
Is there a list somewhere?
Thanks guys! These links are insanely helpful! Hopefully I won’t stay a n00b for much longer.
Thanks Behellagh! I think the new player tips will help out a lot!
I was on the wiki earlier and found some drop tables, so that definitely made my day.
Really, I need to familiarize myself with how skills and items work. Stuff like Insignias confuse me. I don’t get how two pieces of the same armor can have vastly different bonuses.
At least the GW2 team helped you out~ RuneScape’s team doesn’t deal with hacked accounts at all, other than getting the password back.
I always keep my crafting materials, and I’ve even bought a few (I play DIY in RuneScape, so buying things from other players is a big deal for me lol).
Thanks Delta!
I’m 100% complete Divinity’s Reach, Queensdale, and Lion’s Arch. Working on Kessex Hills and The Grove now~ I kind of have the general idea of how things work, but my knowledge isn’t very deep. I’m never sure if I should use all my Green Wood Logs for this or that, and skilling in general is still entirely new to me.
And ouch. I’ve lost a lot of RuneScape friends due to them getting hacked. Luckily, I’ve gotten to level 165 without anything happening to the account. -crosses fingers-.
Hey everyone!
My fiance and I used to play a game called RuneScape together, but she stopped playing about a year and a half ago. She found GW2 shortly after, and asked me to play. I bought a copy and made a character back in March. The game is definitely cool, and my fiance really likes when I tag along (even though I’m still only level 23), so I’d like to learn more about the game.
I’ve been playing RuneScape for five years and other than a few Quest-related plot twists, there’s very little I don’t know about the game. I want to have the same level of knowledge when it comes to GW2. Where do I start? From my experience, play time and a bit of research goes a long way. But do you guys have anything else to add? I can’t even begin to tell you guys how different GW2 is from RuneScape. I’m used to knowing every monster’s drop table and the best place to go for every resource. But I log into GW2 like, “Can I even cut that three down!?” I don’t even know where to start.
Thanks for any help!

Thanks Ilithis! I have an Intel GMA HD graphics card. I updated the drivers for it, and it works fine now!
Hello!
I just downloaded the Gw2Setup.exe fle on my new computer. Every time I double-click the .exe file, the client opens, downloads for a bit, then flickers out, comes back, and crashes entirely. Why is this happening? I have the client installed on another computer, and I’m still logged in there. I’ll try logging out of it, but I don’t think that is what’s going on.
Thanks!

Thanks guys! Sorry for taking so long to reply. I salvage everything I get my hands on, but I still don’t seem to be doing very well. As for carrying a second set of gathering tools; that’s a good idea! I’ve got a second set in the bottom of my bag now. Also, is there a way to see nodes on the main world map? Or do they only show up on the minimap?
Hello everyone! I’m still really new to the game, and one of the things I’m struggling with are nodes and other supplies. I’ve looked at online resource maps of Queensdale, and they say there are tons of nodes for logs, copper, and plants, but I can find maybe two! And when I do harvest them, they don’t seem to come back. Is there a timer on them or something? The same goes for crafting supplies like Jute. I’ve been told that camping at Bandit’s Haunt can get you like 100+ Jute per hour and I’m lucky if I get 15.
I’m coming from RuneScape, so I’m really not used to trees not being grouped together and ore not being in a mine, so I have a lot of questions. But for now, where are all the nodes!?
Thanks!
Thank you everyone! I ended up settling on the name “Marenek”. I will definitely keep all this in mind when I make my Charr and Sylvari.
Hey everyone! I’m at step 10 of character creation and I can’t think of a name! My character is human, male, and a necromancer. Does anyone have any good ideas? I’ve been scanning fantasy name lists for almost an hour and I’m stuck! Every name I like is taken.
Thanks!
Well, I left the download running while I’m at school today. Hopefully 12 uninterrupted hours will finish this thing! I left it at around 201,500 files.
Hey everyone!
I downloaded GW2 last yesterday at around four o’clock and I am still attempting to download the first batch of files. I saw in the Support files on the site that this is normal, but should it be taking this long? I’ve had to take several break where I had to shut my laptop due to battery issues. But, in total, it’s been about six and a half hours and I’m still at 225,843 files.
I originally thought the download was slow because I was on a public connection at a local hospital, but I’m home now and I’m having the same results, though the files are being downloaded slightly faster. Is there a way to speed this up? I’m not sure if it’s patching or downloading the game itself, If its patching, is it possible to pause the download and still play?
I am on the main client screen, after you login, which are really the only details I can think to give.
Thanks!
