Has anyone else done Path 1 to HoTW?
Nothing was even wrong with this path…

The only things we did in HoTW is close off map exploit possibilities in this recent patch. We didn’t touch any of the bosses to my knowledge.

The 2nd boss of Path 1 now summons 3 Silver-strength adds when you engage, and another 3 Silver-strength adds every 25%. However the damage going around needs some tweaking, it’s an incredibly difficult fight now.

Guilds: Influence shortage post update.

Hey everyone,
I am a leader in a farely large guild (50-150 active daily) and I’ve noticed some very disturbing drops in influence gains since the Lost Shores Update. Before the update, we had no problems keeping up every single passive guild buff. It took a bit of influence management on my part, but it was easily doable with the amount of active members we had completing activities.

However, since the update we barely have enough influence now to keep up the 3 influence boost + Karma boost, let alone all the other’s. We have MORE members online daily since the patch, and yet are getting much less influence every day.

There are 2 major reasons I believe are causing this:

1. Plinx nerf. I realize this is silly, it’s just one event nerf and it really shouldn’t have a big impact. But just go take a look at cursed shore, it’s deserted now. I agree that it was silly that Plinx was where nearly everyone went to karma farm, however I think a better solution would have been to buff some other area’s / event chains rather then nerfing Plinx. It was easy, and in one farely central place. So tons of people did it for the karma. The problem is now that its gone, people don’t farm events because it’s no longer as efficient and “easy” in the other area’s.
Lately I’ve seen tons of people farming various bosses in instances to get karma instead, which gives no influence since they aren’t completing the dungeon. This results in a ton less influence being brought in through events, since nobody is doing them for karma anymore.

2. Fractals of the Mist not a traditional dungeon. What I mean by this, is that as far as I’m aware, since Fractals isn’t a dungeon in the traditional sense (ie. completion reward at the end) guilds aren’t getting constant influence from it’s completion. Obviously there are a TON of people running Fractals since it’s the new hip thing to do, which is fine. But it would be nice if we could get some influence from it.

If it’s intended that we are only supposed to have enough influence to keep up a few buffs, that’s fine. But it would be great if you could communicate this to us please!

TLDR: Influence gains are a LOT lower. Possibly due to Plinx nerf (nobody doing events anymore) and Fractals not giving influence.

Thanks Anet – I’d say most of the entire community would appreciate any changes.

(The only one’s that don’t are the ‘elite’ few who would rather not see others with legendary weapons; likely because they already own them themselves)

Power to the people! I can’t wait to see what type of changes will be implemented. Exciting stuff!

This is projecting of the highest kind. I don’t have any legendary, nor am I in the path to get one, and I think that the harder legendaries are to get, the better. Yes, that includes gold.

I’m afraid you are in the vast minority with that opinion Konosh. I don’t think anyone here wants legendaries to be easy to obtain. Difficult is perfectly fine, and desirable. The problem here is that huge gold costs does not equal difficulty. It turns something that should be “difficult” or “challenging” into a tedious grind for gold.

Add to that the fact that the prices on the precursors keep going up, it’s nigh impossible to get one by conventional methods. The only option is to be good or lucky at “playing” the trading post. Playing the Trading Post to get an obscene amount of gold should not be a step in getting a legendary.

This is great news, Thanks for the update Mr. Smith.
Hopefully it brings about changes to how precursors AND some of the lodestones are obtained. Those are really the most expensive pieces to get atm.

Prices on T6 fine mats spiking extremely?!

Read the ecto thread. Basically the Anet employee in charge monitoring the in-game economy said they wanted to increase the demand for some of the less useful items. So people decided T6 mats fell into this category and now we’re riding a bubble.

If there were small increases, I would say this was reasonable. However some of them are doubling in prices. This wouldn’t happen just because Mr Smith said they want to make use of the lower demand items.

The price of T5 Mats also doubled. If I had to guess, the T5 mat increase is in proportion to the ecto increase. Since you need T5 mats to make lvl 80 yellows to salvage into Ecto’s. The T6 mat prices are going up because you need T5 mat’s to transmute into T6 mats. HOWEVER, this still doesnt explain the drastic increase.

Someone, or some people are playing god with the economy. Just look at Crystalline dust prices too. Spiked to over 7s, still sitting at 3.5s. Powerful blood spiked from 5s to over 13s a piece. Totems from 6s to 20s. Scales from 6s to 18s. All in the last day/hours.

This is NOT normal economic fluctuation.

Legendaries: worth getting?

If you really just want the weapon, I can point you to a site where you can buy them with Paypal. They’re tradable for a reason, yeah.

If you paypal it, yes, it is just pixels and prob’ly not worth it. If you do the legwork yourself, it’s worth considerably more.

On a side note, is buying items through paypal allowed by the game rules?

Trading real-world Currency for anything in-game is against the TOS. So yea, this is against the rules.

Thanks for completely not fixing the problem at all.
Everyone’s biggest beef with the Halloween event was the fact that to get some of the lasting mementos from the event, you either had to pay through the nose on the TP, or rely on sketchy RNG. So what is your fix? To add in more RNG! Hurrah!

This is a terrible way to handle items from holiday events. Holiday event items are supposed to be accessible to all players. A super low chance to drop from chests, means the majority of players won’t even get a skin this Halloween. This irks me almost as much as the dev response of “Hey, if you don’t get a skin buy it off the TP!”. How is 5+ gold an accessible way for non-80’s to get these skins? Or better yet, just wait till after Halloween when the select few who have been controlling the precursor market decide to take advantage of Halloween skins. Prices will skyrocket, more people will turn to 3rd party or gem purchases for gold just like they currently do.

I’m extremely dissapointed that Anet is going to be money-grubbing their holiday events for everything they are worth. I am not even looking forward to any subsequent holiday events after this.

200+ Black Lion chests = 0 skins
30+ Chests of the Black King = 0 skins

ArenaNet wouldn’t just ban accounts because they were reported for botting. They have the ability to see what programs your computer is accessing while you are playing the game, and they investigate by using those methods. If you got banned for botting, it’s almost certainly because you were botting. Saying otherwise on the forum doesn’t mean anything if they have the actual proof you were doing it.

It’s not a bad idea, but it wouldn’t work for this game.

The biggest problem would be that crafting would become the most efficient way to obtain the best stat and cosmetic gear. If you could pick whatever stats you wanted to put on items, and ontop of that customize the look to what you want there would be no need to do any of the other available methods to obtaining gear.

transfer mining "exploiters"

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

BLUcorp.6970

Hey guys,
I’m the OP of that 2nd thread linked.
The way I see it, is that you are taking advantage of game-systems(free transfers) in order to obtain materials(Orichalcum) much quicker than you are supposed to. If they intended people to be able to farm these volumes of Orichalcum, then they wouldn’t have put a 5 hour respawn on nodes. This, to me is an exploit plain and simple. Of course, this is only my opinion.

I do agree that ArenaNet needs to step up and get some consistency with the issue though. Either they view it as an exploit, or they don’t. Either way they need to let us know. There are TONS of people taking advantage of this “method” currently, because they believe ArenaNet does not find it an exploit at all. If all those people suddenly get banned, there will be a largekittenstorm.

Obviously my personal view is that it’s an exploit, and everyone taking advantage should get a nice Ban. But my opinion really is irrelevant, it’s what ArenaNet thinks that is important. And they need to make that clear to the community.

Grenades in water and out

I think it would a fantastic addition to the grenade kit to make the #1 skill Auto-attack AND act like it does underwater. I can understand wanting to keep the “utility” grenades as ground targetable, but it would at least be amazing just to get our Grenade, and maybe Shrapnel and Flash as on-target abilities instead of ground-targeted.

Instead of posting here, making everyone google it ( for those unaware), you couldve just sent an email to anet :p.

I myself havent heard of this exploit, but after the last two, you have to albe a stupid idiot to go along with it.

And by you, i dont mean you, i mean them >_>…. the exploiters, that is

I actually did report the issue to their Exploit email, as well as put in tickets. Both of which have gone ignored for the last week, which prompted my post here. I’m hoping the more attention it get’s, the quicker they will take action on the subject.

I won’t go into details for obvious reasons, but this is really starting to get to me.

Last week was when I first heard about a couple guildies taking advantage of this “exploit”. I refused to do it, because I wholeheartedly felt like it was indeed an exploit, and would be dealt with swiftly. Well, a week has gone by, they have showed others, and those people have shown others and now it’s getting out of hand. There are now a lot of people that I know of personally who are doing this. And if it continues it will start to have very bad effects on the market. These people are raking in hundreds of gold in just a couple days, and nothing has been done about it.

I’m not sure if it’s because ArenaNet just has no solution, and is simply waiting for server transfer’s to no longer be free, since it would fix the problem. Or if they just don’t really care all that much about it happening. They were amazingly fast on the whole kharma-weapon issue, which really gave me a lot of faith in them. But now, seeing these people going around unpunished, and other people seeing them unpunished and deciding Anet must not care, so they are joining in as well. It’s just all very disheartening.

My question is simple. What’s the deal here? If you are just waiting for the transfers to not be free, then what happens to the people who cashed out and have already made hundreds and hundreds of gold by that time? To bad for the rest of us who has the morals not to take part in such activities?
