The misconception is the devs believing their new system isn’t a broken POS.
Just finished the now gated story line. Claw island lvl 60 mission. Instead of doing it earlier, having to fight hard and possibly even having to use a heal or two while enjoying the challenge. I got to lazily play a mission that at no point had any challenge what so ever. i even went afk with no fear of failing.
Oh look a new adventure awaits! SWEET! Wait… what? Why is it telling me to go into a level 25 zone? Why isn’t this new great system guiding me towards current content? I don’t understand? Oh yeah… because its a broken POS …..
I don’t like making a new character, playing it from the perspective of a player who has never played it before and finding myself in blazeridge steppes at level 13, getting one shot by monsters 30 levels higher than me.
I don’t like that some of the biggest reasons for choosing this game over any other have been eliminated.
I like change. When it’s polished, appropriate, and constructive.
This change is destructive and unpolished, and causes much more confusion than it solves.
So you wandered into a higher level zone and died? THE HORROR! Not having the common sense to hit M, mouse over or tab to an in world animal or mob to see its level really doesn’t mean the game needs fixing to prevent you from doing this.
Do you live in a bubble IRL? Or have some life guide holding your hand from running out in front of a big scary car? Or not to do things like jump into lava?
A new player does not necessarily inherently know that a level 20 zone is not for a level 5 character to traverse. The game’s new compass actively guides players to massively overleveled zones. If they’re following the instructions of the game because they have no story to do, they’re harmed through no fault of their own.
And other than a learning experience what is the penalty for such a thing happening? Oh you have to pick a way point to spawn at.. Oh the horror. Lesson learned.
Are people really so helpless in life they cant handle learning how things work in a video game?

A mini map option to shut the markers off would be great. It went from blue icons all around the edge of my mini map to multi colored ones.
How about an option for NONE! Mind you this had been an on going request with this game and has fallen on deaf ears.
I’ve been playing for a few weeks and think the changes are terrible. I don’t need a pop up while in lions arch telling me there is some quest I could be doing in another zone. I skipped it because I wanted to….. Its my game to play how I enjoy. I didn’t feel like doing it then and I’m certainly not doing it now no matter how much the game wants to harass me. The old system of being in a quests range was great. It was simple and to the point. This new system plain sucks.
I have an M button and a mini map which clearly provides such information. Story line quest… MIA. I was standing in front of the freaken marker to begin the instance. Ready and prepared to do it upon my next log in. Not only is the quest gone from my quest area on the screen. Its gone from the map completely!
I’ve yet to wait until a suggested level to complete a section of the story line. Again…Its my game and I’d like to play it how I see fit. The story line CLEARLY showed the quests suggested level. If its red and I can do it… Great. I mean it worked fine for the last 3 weeks…..
If I wanted a game with some mindless single path being spoon fed goals like drooling idiot. I certainly wouldn’t be playing an MMORPG.
As I see it. The next thing I was doing in the game was the quest in front of me. It was my current content based on my ability as a player. Its gone. which means my game is currently broken. I’m not going to run around doing BS I don’t choose to do in hopes my game un breaks itself in a day, week or month.
