yeah I also discovered after waiting with a large group in southsun waiting for the karka queen that when the event started the lag was horrible then the game crashed and instead of letting me back in with the group on that server and maybe getting a chest (since I had particapted and thrown down some damage) instead I was sent to a deserted server with one other that had game crash too……never did the event before guess i may never do it at this rate……….
That is great so now when you have the world map up you will have no clue if it is worth going to x place because it in fact may not be contested.. I used the world map to look for contested locations as a clue that an event can be done there…guess not anymore….
I have Discovered that if for example your in orr and open the world map to say, go to an event such as lyssa temple, that the map shows WP’s contested which seems normal.
But when you WP to closest point to the supposed contested Wp you discover that in fact the event is over and the WP’s are not contested,,,
Then opening the world map again looking at orr while at lyssa temple shows nearly all the WP’s in orr contested yet I had just came from them and they were not contested for example anchorage point and arah.
I WP’ed to nearest uncontested WP and low and behold yes none of them are contested.
So it appears the world map does not reflect the current state of the WP’s in different locations till you enter that map area which means either run a long distance once you get to nearest or pay fee to WP twice…

Anet will not replace. Don’t even bother they will respond that you are welcome to waste as many laurels as you wish buying duplicate items such as ascended recipes and the same with rings……..
I think I mentioned in this thread that I looked over my currently owned items and well frankly being a fallible human being overlooked it. I said as much however it appears to me they tried to remedy this potential hazard in other area like dyes and non asecended recipes which you could at least sell.
Anet has pretty much it is buy design that you will be punished for the mistake.
Fine I learned and in fact keep the useless scroll in my bag as a reminder, I posted this to warn others so they do not make the same mistake…
Not clear why one would suggest I was busted as if I had not admitted that I had overlooked the recipe in my list?
What ever the warning is still valid..
No when I purchased the recipe then double clicked to choose stats, I actually went back to the crafting table to check to see if I had it, clearly I overlooked it, I then returned to the stat choice and picked one I had already not realizing this. I then clicked accept , then discovered the recipe was still in my bag but now it says I already know that recipe. There was zero warning.
Oh yes I know that you can use it on a different alt provided your willing to spend the money time to increase another alt to 500 lvl…
what would be nice if a pop up like when you salvage rares that asks you are your sure you want to salvage the rare ? would be nice if a pop up says hey your alt already knows this recipe,,,,,,
Anyways I just posted the warning if you know this already fine there is nothing to see here move along…
For others just be sure you dont already have the recipe….as you will be out the karma with no way to sell and asking anet if this is by design will result in answers that do not fit the question asked.
That is fine the game has been this way, but for majority of the game now nearly any attempts to purchase an item in duplicate such as dyes and recipes you already know it wont allow it or has red letters warning you that you already know it,,, this is the first time for me to discover you can accidently purchase a recipe without prior warning more than once on an alt and be out the cost with no way to recover like selling on tp….
(edited by Bart.4619)
That was clearly not the point of the warning. It was to warn others to be certain you are not duplicating a recipe on your alt as you will get a warning that it is a duplicate only after you wasted the karma. I hope your not one of the Anet tech support reps…as they failed to comprehend the message too….and could only provide a canned response and then avoid answering the question I asked which was it by design that if you mistakenly choose a duplicate you foreit the karma?
responding back that you can buy as much as you want is not a direct answer………..to the question asked…
Warning by design if you purchase more than one ascended recipe for 21K make sure you check to insure you dont already have the recipe.
If you mistakenly choose the wrong stat you will not get a warning that you already own this recipe until after you have been swindled out of 21K worth of Karma.
In fact Anet stated to me in an email you are more than welcome to buy as many as you want….
Also remember this recipe cannot be sold so the scroll will be worthless.
I did keep my worthless ascended scroll as a reminder since Anet felt it better to punish such mistakes by design…
well I guess it is by design/method to punish player/customer:
based on response from anet. In fact you can buy the already known recipe as many times as you want according to the response (while avoiding answering the question I asked) but of course it wont work as you already have it and now you cant sell it.
see below response(s):
Ok I bought an ascended recipe for 21k of karma.
I opened it and picked a stat.
All good so far.
Now a few weeks later I decided I needed another bought the recipe.
While in my bag double clicked and then chose the stats I thought I needed.
Opps turns out I already have that stat recipe.
Now I have a recipe sheet in my inventory that shouts in red that I already have this recipe if I double click it ???
So if I already have the recipe then why was I allowed to choose it twice and or why is recipe sheet not gone from my inventory?
Many other items warn you if you have the recipe or dye etc …
Just wondering cause karma takes time to accumulate and hate to think it was by design that you could lose it.
Thanks for contacting the Guild Wars 2 Support Team. As a general rule, we are not able to replace items, and that is true in the case of the item that you have requested.
Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.
Regards,
Hello,
I wasn’t asking for a replacement though it would be greatly appreciated if indeed my ascended recipe currently in XXXXX’S inventory was somehow reset,
I was asking is it by design that when you pick a stat for an ascended recipe that you already know,
that it will be accepted (when you click accept) and you will lose the karma spent for a recipe you already knew and basically you are left with a unusable/untradeable ascended recipe scroll in your inventory as a reminder?
It seems that for most recipes warn you if you already know the recipe in red letters (and usually those you can sell).
Shouldn’t this be the case for these much more time consuming and costly ascended recipes (the ones you choose stats for)?
I just want a straight answer please.
Is it by design by the developers that when choosing stats for an ascended recipe, that it is made this way to penalize the player for making a poor choice/mistake (choosing the same recipe twice)?
I want to know for sure, so that I may warn others on the forums,
that they must be extremely careful when choosing stats for karma purchased recipes requiring stat choices, as they will lose the karma and end up having a useless duplicate recipe that is not tradable in there inventory should they overlook that they already know the recipe and click accept.
Thank you for getting back to us.
We understand your concern, but as previously stated we are not able to replace this item. Regarding your question, a player can purchase this type of recipes as many times as he or she wants.
Thank you for your understanding on the matter. Should you have any other doubts or concerns, please let us know.
Regards,
Bump I just made Grenth and wonder the same thing to be truthful for what it took to make it it should already be infused in my opnion….

also now that it is over and there is time before something else happens could have been the time people could dig in there bags/banks to cash in stuff and craft…
To bad it wasnt mentioned in game by say the very vendor that was removed.
maybe a few days or weeks before leaving he (the vendor etc)could announce when you talk to him that he intends to wrap up shop and leave soon so buy now or miss out etc etc…could have made it like a high pressure sales pitch …
I would much rather learn of these things within the game , like folks gabbing nearby, merchants stating they intend to leave etc ,,
Blade shards and found belongings - really?
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath
Posted by: Bart.4619
I am scared to throw found belongings and hierlooms away now just like I did with a couple thousand or more of the blade shards….
To bad in the game while visiting the merchant{s} that he doesnt mention his intentions to leave soon etc…..
Dont feel to bad about not making the back piece .. Though I managed to make and ascended version of one I had thousands of blade shards and tossed them only to read they may be useable……….for something…
I have noticed that after a reasonable amount of people have taken down the knights that once you get the three attunements and jump in the portal that you can end up in a room with only 8 people and they are already in battle (the cut scene is entirely missed).
I at first thought maybe it was due to being late entering the portal, or because it appeared that one of the knights required additional support after say killing blue and running to red to assist and so effectively particpating in killing 2 knights,
but this has happened even when I have immediately entered the portal after killing only the knight I started with and once all the other knights had been killed.
I texted folks in the game and everyone else was abit aggrevated about this fact to.
You spend alot of time killing the knights and waste 20 minutes trying to kill the holo with little hope of doing so with such a small group especially if the wrong mix of professions is loaded…
So Anet are you dividing groups up as they enter the portal?
So far 3 failed attempts yesterday and today same thing,,
Well i see all the bots I have reported over a week ago are still operating without impunity 24/7.
Does this mean they are permissible to use?
Even if it is not it appears the chances of being banned before making a profit is slim, and only justifies the purchase of the bot and game for a alt that even if banned will have resulted in a net profit for gold sellers..who can turn around and create another bot with the gains, resulting in only minor loss in profit so it seems
So how often should I submit report of same bot(s)? Once? Daily on everyday I see them when I log in?
So far the reports have failed to produce results.. going on at least a week or more since submitting reports via gui report system…
SBI Server 3 bots are operating just north of meddlers and up in the northeast section of Orr 4 bots. another bot runs northeast all the way to grenth …
They have been running 24/7 as I check to see them nearly everyday ..
I visited Sanctum of rall and discovered they have a bot infestation of same locations..
go to stormbluff server cursed shores orr top right of map 2 to 3 bots running there.
just north of meddlers 4 bots ,, another one has a route that takes it through north to grenth and back,, even watched him/it run through while we where doing the grenth event,, pretty kitten sad. hopefully when they /me /you report they can just shadow the toon when it comes on and see for themselves, many toons when i tried to whisper a message reported they where not online,, others of course never respond, ,,,
Okay been playing for at least 1900hrs ,, lately i have been discovering a number of (6) bots operating in cursed shores area. I did report them as some where actually running in pairs.
Today i see they are still in operation, another today when I tried to whisper to them/it it immediately bailed from the game.
I think there should be a site page describing bot activities tell tell signs of bots then a bot bounty system put in place so if a report leads to the banning removing of a bot account a reward is given to the initial reporter. If you send in false reports lets say three times in a row then you your reports take less precedents ,,,
