Try this OP. Do WvWvW either solo or with friends/guildmates. Pick a map crowded with your allies, and follow zergs around. As you cap points along the map with your group, you’re bound to encounter enemy players. But since you won’t be alone, you won’t be too much of a target. This should hopefully get you used to the feel of PvP (and hopefully reduce your anxiety to the point where you become comfortable doing it). Good luck!
9.5/10
This event had me playing the game longer than I usually do. Clock tower was easily the best activity of the event for me. Only gripes were the scavenger hunt (too many people doing it at once and gathering around ghost locations ruined the mystery for me) and the rather anticlimactic Act 4. Still, an excellent event by Anet. I look forward to future events!
As an engineer I actually quite like some of the armors (though the pickings are still fairly slim compared to other armor classes, of course). Personal favorites are the Leather set, Medium X set (the ones you can get from Karma vendors @ Cursed Shore), and the Invaders Rawhide set.
I enjoy the eerie, post-apocalyptic ambiance of the Orr maps, but the Risen (especially those kitten Putrifiers) are definitely annoying.
Only thing I wasn’t too pleased about was the scavenger hunt. It would have been nice to be able to find locations on my own because I used my meter properly and NOT because the zerg is currently surrounding the location in question (which not only spoils the mystery of it all for me, but transforms it into a mindless, follow-the-leader quest).
However, I thought everything else was really fun. My absolute favorite activity from this event was the clocktower; I sincerely hope Anet includes more JPs of this difficulty in future events!
There wasn’t really a change in difficulty for me after I left overflow. I completed the tower while it was packed with charrs/norns and while it was virtually empty.
Congrats
Took me about 7 chests to get that skin.
I can confirm random doors still work. Just used one the other day to finish the clock tower and get my two chest rewards from the labyrinth. Seems like it works for other servers as well, since I saw quite a few players there, too.
Nope! I’ve done everything so far and really enjoying it.
As someone who’s been at the clocktower for 12+ hours with no success yet (though I’ve gotten close many times), I really appreciate the challenge. I think the difficulty is perfect because people who complete the puzzle can have a sense of real accomplishment. Hopefully we get more like this in the future
None working in Kaineng either. But thanks to Anthony and the team for their continued work on trying to fix this issue (I’m pretty sure it was Anthony that came into Northern Shiverpeaks the other day to open doors for us in Queensdale – thanks again for that!).
Yes! Same thing’s happening to me with my group. I hope things will be fixed soon
Woo! I’m loving the fact that there’s a huge older crowd playing this game. I’m 24 and I really enjoy it so far. It’s fun enough to keep me playing, and casual enough to fit in my schedule.
Nice guide, really looking forward to reading more of your tips when it’s done. I also reported those last couple of posts to be brought to the top. Thanks and good luck finishing this!
