After reading through that reddit topic its honestly just 1 guy saying all that Bee Es. The OP is actually defending his point against the guy and clarifying he just wants challenge but casuals are more than welcome to join in on the learning of the figths
yeah I dont get the hatred either, seriously since this game doesn’t have a sub, lots of people who enjoy the game are going to buy it anyway. Now they at least get a chance to look at it before purchase.
the only difference between a f2p and core game owner is a 20€-$25 purchase. Its not a big deal =(
I really don’t get all the negativity or hostility towards f2p players though. The only difference between ‘casuals’ (assuming thats f2p) and ‘hardcore players’ (core game owners) is seriously a one time purchase of like 20€-$25.
sad bear is sad
edit: rofl just realised i posted this in the wrong topic. ignore and move on ^^
Honestly I think it’d look pretty ridiculous if some GW2 PvP competitors gave each other the death glare before a match.
Why? I think that would be awesome actually.
Cause then I’d like to see them go down in a fist fight rather than go click kitten their mouses and keyboards at each other. lol idk, just my opinion I guess :P
I’m all over the idea of bantering or proving that you’re the better player as was said above, but unnecessary hate especially from fan to fan, I think that’s just well… unnecessary. Maybe I just don’t get why there has to be so even more hate in this already hate-filled world. Edit2: Just to add, considering video games for many is a way to kinda escape the reality. Or just chill and relax after work. But obviously this prolly isnt the case for the competitors, because to be that good you gotta make it at least a very very dedicated hobby.
EDIT: lawl, didn’t know h ard would get censored

But comparing a video game’s PvP to boxing is apples and oranges. Honestly I think it’d look pretty ridiculous if some GW2 PvP competitors gave each other the death glare before a match.
People want to see an epic battle of two teams who hate each other.
I for one don’t think that’s true at all. Good sportsmanship is what, imho, people want to see. Obviously some banter here and there isn’t bad, as long as it’s in good taste. There’s plenty other games where the pvp community is so toxic it’s frightening for a new player to jump into, because no one starts a pro, and they’ll just get a very toxic welcome.
Hey folks!
I played a bit of Gw2 when it first came out but around that time I was still heavily hooked to WoW so didn’t give this the chance it deserves
Anyhoo my mmo-gaming history shows that I’ve always picked one class to be my true main and just basically do everything on that character. Talk about emotional attachment huh. ^^ i do occasionally roll alts but always end up going back to the same character.
I feel like I really want to play a ranged character and the engineer really stood out of the rest for me. I understand this is a pretty challenging class to play well and have been checking a lot of Wolfineer’s videos to learn from him.
My main aim is PvP but I dont mind doing some PvE on the side. So my question is how well do engineers do in sPvP? I’ve little interest in how I can contribute to massive zerg WvW trains, but in smaller teams I’d like to be able to help my buddies while still do competitive dps. I’ve kept a close eye on the Guardian class too, but I’m afraid I won’t be able to down enemies effectively?
Which leads me to my second question how well do engineers fare in WvW roaming? As a massive PvP nut I’ve always found great satisfaction in winning challenging solo situations (2+ v1 etc) and capping enemy bases behind the lines.
sorry for this long post, always had a hard time with making my posts non-tldr.
PS: I feel like I should add that I don’t care about things like “well this patch the engi is not doing great” or stuff like that. I feel like its safe to say that no class in this game is truly bad ever, and if there are downtimes, they are addressed ^^

When you have a profession you like, Get advice on builds, but do not lock yourself in to a suggested builds with out tweaking it, testing it, and playing with it, to find what feels right to you.
^ This. thankfully this game allows you to swap between builds and things relatively easily
Thanks for the replies so far everyone. i decided to go ele, and having a blast, but i’m only level 9. I played a mesmer to 60-something and remember loving it as well but yes, i agree it was sometimes hard to level. :p it was a tie between ranger and ele but having 4 skill sets instead of 2 seemed like more fun ^^
(My personal preference is to stay away from the class specific forums. True you may find some helpful info here and there but its mostly people flaming how either the class is useless or how badly it needs a nerf.)
Yeah I figured as much :p lots of people who find nothing wrong with their class or know how to play don’t even visit the forum.. or the class forums.
hmm.. yeah im aware most classes can be either melee or ranged, its just that the playstyle also changes in some cases, quite drastically. I mean not just the fact you’re standing further away from the enemy, but that then you might be killing it slowly with conditions and stuff. heck I think i just need to find a list of all the classes weapon set skills explained or something lol. then find what i like.
its been a while since i played, for end game stuff, are there a lot of cookie cutter builds? or people expecting you to be in specific builds if you’re playing a certain class? i always liked customization.
Hey everyone, Im thinking of playing this game again and I just finished patching it to the latest version so I’m all ready to go. I just have no idea what to play. I read on the professions specific forums, basically on all of them players were like “oh this class is not viable, we need this and that and we’ve been nerfed” etc. so Im just gonna ask directly for opinions
I like ranged more than melee classes (on the contrary I had a lot of fun on guardian but I just want to try something else), and I remember being excited about engineer but got disappointed at really low dps. some of it was probably a l2p issue but I heard i wasn’t alone with it. Also remember someone saying there’s just like 1-2 viable spec.
What profession would you say is doing all-around well? I’m not asking for the most op prof or anything, just one that doesn’t end up gathering dust because other classes will do everything you do, but better. :P cheers.
