Hey all, I’ve recently started playing GW2 again after being away for 6-7 months and I really need a nice guild. My old guild moved on to other games and I didn’t want to follow, so when I came back I had almost no one to play with. Anywho, I’m currently a resident of Kaineng but I’m working on getting a transfer to TC and I guest to TC whenever I play. I’m about to disappear for a month again due to a martial arts training camp I’m doing over winter break but I will be playing again in January. In other words I would be a ghost member for a month.
What I’m looking for is a good sized, friendly guild that does WvW/RP/PvX
I’m fairly active and will give notice if I need to take off for a while.
Thanks for your consideration and I look forward to hearing from all of you!
Edit: I’m based in the NA EST timezone in case that makes a difference.

lol, nice try Decked. It’s the signature of one of the level devs and there is more than one, they’re generally hidden in JP’s and hard to get locations.

Try Midnight Ice instead of black. I haven’t been on in a while so I have no idea what the price is like for it anymore. And I don’t normally use any gold dyes so I have no idea on that one.
It’s the spam/bot filter. It lets you list x amount of items before it shuts you down for 30 seconds before you can list the next item when it resets and blocks you again. It is kind of annoying, but it helps.
Decent idea overall but… The game is rated T by the ESRB, the ESRB specifically states that they don’t rate the online parts of games, only the base content. If only people read that….. And the profanity filter was set to medium anyways the first time I logged on, I had to change it to uncensor the chat.
You just blew my mind, I honestly never noticed that before. I’ve always played very movement-centric classes such as thief, hunter, and engineer but still… And TBH I did write this at 4 AM so…
That’s because when you rotate the camera past the point where your character can look, without the neck of an owl anyways, then he/she will move their body. Much like a real person.
Do you have a weapon out? Because if you don’t then your character will not pivot to follow the camera when the right mouse button is pressed. Took me a while to get used to it too.
Hey there guys, I’ve been a solo player since I got the game 4 months ago and I love it. But I now find myself off watching anime, running, or practicing my martial arts instead of playing. So, here I am.
Name: Kay (or just K)
Main Character: Kyala Melkar or Cale Bellash
Current Server: Kaineng
Activities: WvW, PvE, exploration and just general screwing around.
Additional Comments: I’m pretty quiet and I tend to run off on my own to do stuff (habits of a solo-er) but if you get me talking I’m pretty fun to be around. Willing to just hang out and chat (in game or via <insert voicechat program here>). Just PM me in game, I’m usually on unless I’m at class.
PS: Willing to try out new games too, same thing over and over bores me after a while.
On top of that some servers have population dedicated more to one thing or another. For example I think Seafarers is mostly WvW and Piken Square being Role play (correct me if I’m wrong I don’t really keep up with these things)._
Somewhat correct. Piken Square used to be the RP server but nowadays it’s mostly on Tarnished Coast.
I really feel like this should be a thing….
Not entirely sure if this is a bug, but I’m pretty sure it is. The number 4 underwater downed skill isn’t available right away unlike the other classes, instead it has an initial 5 sec cooldown before it can be used.
Honestly the only setting that doesn’t hit the framerate is the anti-aliasing, but since there are only two options for it…. In my experience every other setting affects fps in some way, if you really want better character models either upgrade your computer or learn to live with lag/worse graphics. GW2 is still an amazing looking game even barely above the lowest settings, a few tips to keep in mind are; shaders hit your fps really hard, so do shadows. Animation kills your fps when around lots of people, like the huge meta events. Textures kill fps period. And Environment gets worse the longer you play (due to temp memory caching) and the more environmental objects you’re around (Maguuma Jungle sucks in other words). It took me about 2 months to find acceptable settings for my computer that don’t compromise the graphics too much. Good luck!
Not necessarily, you could keep the same models and everything but simply scale the model, much like how it does now based on what the character race is, according to the players specifications. Theoretically anyways.
I would, been needing a change of pace for a while. I’ll add you tomorrow when I get on again. Human is fine by me, and I’ll probably run a Necro or an Engi.

And no, new players do not get a free transfer, it still costs gems no matter where they want to transfer to.
Let me clarify what I meant; I use pets (bears mostly) as meat shields while I do damage with a GS or a bow. Protip: Switching your pet before it dies only gives you a 20 sec cooldown, high health/toughness pets can survive 20 sec no prob.
(Sorry if I come off as a kitten, I just can’t stand the people who QQ about rangers being broken. Especially since I’ve had so much success with them myself. :P)
Adding onto what ^they said; play with a party. Cliche I know, but it does make it a lot more fun.
Try a thief, they are (IMO) the most fun/dynamic class to play. And Rangers are decidedly not broken, the people who say so cannot be playing them right. They’re not meant to be a tanky class as I’ve seen some people trying to play them as (it works in some MMO’s but not this one), they’re more evasive little blaggards that distract you with their pets while they own you from long range.
TL;DR Try thief. Rangers are not broken.
What he^ said. Ele is going to be harder to master but it IS a pretty fun class. Thieves are easy, if a bit squishy, and very versatile. Thieves require a VERY mobile play style, so hit and run tactics. If that doesn’t work for you, definitely go Ele.
Yup, I’ve been having issues since the April 1st patch. Although after I tweaked some graphics settings and the huge rush of people doing SAB died down a bit, it improved. Now it only strikes at huge gatherings of players.
Honestly there isn’t one. IMO the classes in GW2 are pretty balanced as long as you know how to play them. My main is a thief and I found it almost too easy to solo as one but some of my guildies keep dying when they run thieves. It all really comes down to your play style; try them out, have fun, die, delete them.
I don’t think it works anymore, but it used to. If you /kneel @ in front of any of the Norn idols, while targeting it, you would get a buff depending on which idol it was.
I would assume that you would need to do story mode for the personal story. However it may require you to physically travel to the entrance of Arah to begin a custom instance. Doesn’t seem likely though. And no, you must complete story before you can open explore.
(Edit: I see someone has beaten me to it. Cheers!)

Honestly it all depends on the map you’re in. But generally, yes, there is a community.
Barely playable, lot’s of lag especially when I’m in combat. I’m on Kaineng.
Yes please! That would be awesome!
Ok first off, don’t listen to people when they tell you not play ranger/necro/thief, I have all three of these and I have no problems. In fact, if played right, they are still the most OP classes. They have gotten significant nerfs so some builds are no longer viable but in general the playstyle is the same. Now, in general, there haven’t been many big changes since launch but there are some small ones that are important such as new waypoints and POI’s, boss nerfs, etc. Your best bet for good info is look at the patch notes from the past. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Game_updates
Enjoy!
I have no idea, my monthly isn’t done yet. I would submit a support ticket though.
Maw is (mostly) fixed now on the timer. The spawn time was changed in this latest patch so they’re trying to re-calibrate the timer but other than that everything on there is back to 100%.
Kaineng is pretty nice, we’ve got good WvW and a (mostly) nice playerbase, if you need help you’ll most likely get some. Not sure about sPvP, never done it.
Try exiting the game and relogging, that’s always fixed it for me.
I don’t like them very much either but that’s mostly due to the fact that I’m a very mobile fighter and staves are primarily AoE as far as I can tell. In other words a party based DPS weapon not suited for solo play unless you have an aggro magnet.
A: There are about 5 of these topics and they really should be merged.
B: Was bugged on Kaineng but the server restart/content patch fixed it.
C: It has and probably will happen again, the only way I’ve ever seen it fixed is by chance (rare) or by server restart/content patch/hotfix.
This happens from time to time on every server that I know of. Best thing to do is check back every day and hope that it fixes itself or wait until the next patch/hotfix is released which will fix it 100% of the time. Note: even a server restart will fix it, no new content is required.
Check and see if you have a keybind on “About Face”. By default it shouldn’t have a key bound.
I just started having this problem today after I updated to the Flame and Frost update. The Black Lion works fine except I don’t get the comparison windows anymore nor can I sell anything. My inventory is blank according to the sell tab. I’ve tried relogging and restarting but it still doesn’t work. Previously listed items work fine.
Edit: I restarted a second time and now it works fine.

The centaur camp of Hidden Cliff has prison cages in them that are usually closed. However when a dynamic event to rescue the prisoners appears those cages open, however if a player character enters one of them the gate closes and there is absolutely no way to get out short of using a Waypoint.
