Only a WvW player would spend countless hours escorting yaks for literally 0 rewards just to make sure upgrades are being finished.

Only a WvW player would spend several hours after they should’ve gone to bed defending Bay with two open walls until finally losing it, and still saying good job to everyone who helped defend it once it’s lost; and then still not go to bed so they can help take it back.

We are in the process of working out how/if we can split the NA and EU resets. For now, this change is the way going forward. It’s my hope we will have an update about this soon as I’ve made it a priority.

I was writing my post, so didn’t see this until after I posted.

This is truly good to hear! And I’m sure restores some of the faith we’ve lost in you guys. Hopefully too, it will help us live with the time changes that have been made until you find out about splitting the resets.

We’ve had to deal with this for 8 months, we don’t have a ‘major community event full of thrillz and excitement’, we have a caffeine-driven, groggy, wearying journey of perseverance and who falls asleep at their keyboard first. Not to mention my stomach’s rumbling the entire time – need moar noodles – don’t have time to go get food whilst leading; making everyone wait 5 minutes so you can go get food isn’t exactly a nice thing to do when they’ve stayed up ’til all hours in the morning to attend the event.

NA dudes, I know this sucks for you, it sucked for every EU player who wanted to get a decent night’s sleep each week, and for every EU player who doesn’t want to wake on Saturday feeling like a pile of kitten (which btw we do, trust me, I’ve done it) and for every EU player who can’t stay up until 5am in the morning due to irl constraints.

Can’t you guys deal with it for like one week, then you can shaft us again and we’ll continue bearing the burden for you like we’ve been doing for 8 months? I just want to sleep for once without feeling like I’m betraying my server/guildies…

You EU players certainly have my sympathy, you probably now have it from most of the other NA players .. It seems most of us never even knew of your plight with reset night. I mean, you are a seperate set of servers, we can’t guest there, and personally, I thought you were just like us.

I was under the assumption that if I decided to play on your servers, your reset would be at least 5 hours before the one I was used to because of the time difference, so instead of 7 or 8pm eastern, it would be at 2 or 3pm GMT.

Obviously I don’t read enough.. and tend to make assumptions based on what seems most logical. :P

I truly am sorry you guys have had to deal with this sort of thing for 8mos and that it’s taken this long to get any sort of solution that was at least somewhat beneficial for all of you. I honestly had no idea, I mean, there was no reason for me to even look at the goings on with EU servers seeing I didn’t and couldn’t play on them.

This doesn’t mean that I agree with what Anets done, with many of us already looking at other games because it took so long to fix WvW, the taking away of the one thing that kept us playing, the Friday night reset event, is sort of the nail in the coffin for many of us as far as GW2 goes.

We’ve lost many dedicated players in the past because of things not being fixed, causing WvW to lose it’s appeal to many. Recently it’s been so much better, we’ve even had PvE’ers who never WvW joining us on Friday nights as they began to discover how much fun WvW could be… and then Anet does this..

I’m sure people will adjust. For the EU players, I am glad that you’ve finally gotten Anet to listen, but for many of us NA players, I can’t help but be quite sad really. Our one big server wide event destroyed as so many will be unable to attend now.

Playing with them is what made it such a big deal, so much fun, and is the one thing that kept a lot of us in WvW and playing GW2 at all. Sure, many will still play regardless, but sadly, there will be many who will not.

This time change just shows how little Anet understands about the community we have on our servers, how important the players are to one another, and unfortunately, shows their lack of concern for us altogether, as they continually do things which cause us to be so disgruntled.

WvW being broken for MONTHS.. many people left after being so fed up.
EU? 8 Months of having a totally ridiculous reset time!??!
And now this fix — taking away reset night for a good portion of people on NA servers.

Also, on the NA servers, a culture has developed around reset night that goes back 7 months. On my server at least (Tarnished Coast) the reset night push is what really brings all the WvW guilds together and creates intra-guild relationships.

Why Anet would want to destroy that, is beyond me. Study after study shows that it is social ties that keep people playing MMO’s. Destroying reset night on the NA servers will give people just one more reason to jump to another game, if one comes along.

No doubt guilds will continue working with each other, but I can’t see how it can be as good as what we had before.

That’s ok… don’t worry, we will ask Anet to change the NA time to 2am instead… that way you can continue to all play together out of work hours.

It’s not a little inconvenience, it’s causing about half of those that normally WvW on reset night to miss out on playing, some of whom only play then. Many more may simply not go because the normal group they play with will not be there.

It really IS a big social event for so many of us.

I completely agree that it’s been unfair for the EU servers to have to attend reset at such an hour, but destroying a long standing cooperative community event on NA servers isn’t the answer, in fact, it creates additional problems.

Fixing one problem by creating another is not exactly a good solution to anything.

It takes no skill, apart from some flanking awareness on the part of a commander. If the special reset night push is killed, GW2 is going to loose something that differentiates WvW from its competitors.

Totally agree with this. As it stands now, probably half of those that we normally play with on Friday nights won’t even be there. It’s the one night of the week we get to play together and the best night of the week for many in GW2.

The time is bad for me, but I could sort that out, but how do I sort out not getting to WvW with my guild and our mates? I can’t. This isn’t just how it is for me, it’s like that for many on the NA servers.

I understand EU needing to have their time sorted out, I honestly didn’t realize that Anet had set it up this way for you guys, that’s horrible! Why in the world would they even do that to an entire population of gamers in the first place?

But your answer is to fix that issue is to destroy the cohesiveness of WvW on the NA servers? It may help to alleviate somewhat one problem, but it creates a totally new one. How in the world is this even sensible:?

To be honest, I see some who post more on the forums than spend time in the actual game. Personally I think the forum junkies are just another aspect of the game. lol

Seriously though, it IS true that most seem to enjoy this game very much and anything they have to grumble about is said between themselves and not posted here or even complained about in /m chat. ((ME included for the most part))

The old saying, “The squeaky wheel gets the grease” became a saying because of the truth behind it. Sad to say it is not always a good thing, as the squeakers are just given that grease to shut them up and for no other good reason. (And certainly NOT because they speak for the rest of the players.)

Hmm.. I’ve met such people you speak of in WvW, but never in PvP… well yet.

Although I love to PvP, I really don’t think to do it because of all the PvE and WvW things I do. (Not to mention RL) Today I PvP’d thinking I would get a laurel, oops… not there, guess it’s going back to last place as far as those three things go.

I found that happening in T2 as well, it’s very sad as it takes the fun out of playing. I recently moved to Yaks, a T4 server and discovered the “Joy of WvW” again. heh

I totally agree with Tripp, I mean really the only other option is to move servers like I did, and it shouldn’t have to be like that.

Love Yak’s Bend and its WvW. Gotten to follow around some great Commanders like Dethroat, Honnor, and Pat. Amazing community.

I came over when Malum Factum left TC. I wanted to give it a try for a week, still having a chance to go back or choose another server. I wanted a place that had a great community and loved to wvw, as that had all fallen apart in my “homeland.”

I was shocked that people said please and thank you in map and team chat, commanders worked together and people listened, knew what they were doing, and didn’t spend their time arguing in chat, but instead… did their jobs and did them well!

And most importantly … it was FUN!

Just want you to know we miss you guys. Despite you dropping down one we honestly wish it had been the zerg mania server. You all play well and always give good fights. We’d see FA coming and we’d say .. oh jeese :P … we’d see Yaks coming and it was more like, inc yaks, (insert number) … etc etc .. think you get it. It was a match .. it was fun and it wasn’t easy or stupid zerg only.

I have to laugh as we were sitting in Mumble last night lamenting our misfortune at you all being gone!! hahaha CD is cool though .. but boy what a great time it would have been if it were you guys, cd and us.. damn ..

The main mentality I see out of TCers is humor in the face of nasty over-matched weeks. If you have an ego about needing constant wins, then a life of steady server transfers is apparently more your speed.

I’ll stick with the guys discussing favorite pizza toppings and putting together elaborate suicide plans for fun over ever feeling down that I am not currently winning the pixels. And really for a mostly pug group with a sense of humor about WvW, I’d say TC does a respectable job. The server has a good reputation for a reason. Friendly people who still like to show up to the occasional fight.

…I just read this and had to say that with the naked dance party that happened despite BG owning pretty much all of our [TC] borderlands for the time and trying to spawn camp from Spiritholme, this is definitely true. lol

Agreed, I mean I logged on around 4am eastern to find Jadon and co were holdiing Spirit in TCB — the only blue spot on the map — and that they had all lost their minds … I believe it was battle fatigue because for some reason they had gotten it into their heads that perhaps if they danced naked it would scare BG into submission …

I’ve been sick and napping more than WuvWuving and needed to hit something, not to mention I didn’t want to get caught “on camera” .. so went over to EB where first Barroh, and then Odinzu were doing some actual fighting and killing and taking of things .. lol

If you think we (BG) are having free and easy wins then you are sadly mistaken. Also, you are pretty much insulting all the efforts of the people on your server. If the reason you do WvW for is simply to win, then you should probably transfer to the #1 server to begin with. TC and FA has been putting up fights and making us work to keep what we have, in fact TC just managed to get a foothold on their own map and take their garrison back from us. I really hope people like you that simply want to win don’t queue in TC so then maybe those that are dedicated will come and fight us.

I’m not insulting anyone, just pointing out that no matter how good you are at WvW Population ratio will always win. And if you think population has nothing to do with it, your naive.

I think the PVP’ers on TC are among the best, and in-fact if we had the PVP population that other servers enjoy, I have no doubt we would be in the top two tiers. But as I pointed out we don’t have the numbers and it doesn’t matter how pro our players are, a ratio of 5-1 will always win. WvW all boils down to numbers, you either have them or you don’t, effort/skill takes a back seat to numbers in this game.

This is how it is really. I mean when we have numbers we’ve not had any real problems defeating even some of the better teams, (and boy some great battles, both won and lost).. but without numbers, it’s a pretty tough fight.. though we have held our own even then.

That said, BG is a very good server and the only way we would have a chance against them is if we had the numbers and we simply do not atm. I love TC ankittenhe loyal sort so won’t be leaving it, but we really need more during oceanic times if we want to stay competitive.

Wow, I’d like to meet these thieves who can do such things.. I’ve not had them do it to me, nor can I do them to others. (and I play wvw like 12 hours a day!!) I’d like to see some evidence of such things rather than useless “the thief did it” complaints.

BTW at least TRY to work with your own settings in game. It didn’t totally fix the problem I had with it, but it did minimize it substantially. (And I seriously have a crap video card!!)

I think it is worse now than it was when there were actually full maps of people in there.

True too, I actually have a crappy vid card really and when I turned up the graphics to medish it got better — go figure right — since the patch though it’s back somewhat, but I can see them a lot of times when others don’t. Quick fix, buy a crappy vid card and turn it to med vid settings?!? lol

But about stealth.. Mesmers have better stealths at times than thieves do, but there are not take that stealth from Mesmer threads!? It IS a rendering issue and I tell ya, I don’t know if you’ve not played many mmo’s (those who are on the stealth witch hunt here) but the stealth for “rogues” in this game is about the wimpiest I’ve ever seen!! (yet the most complained about it seems)

Just because you get some HIGHLY SKILLED thieves out there that kick your butt.. doesn’t mean you need to nerf the entire class, you just need to learn to play better. (barring the hacker people k)

I’ve gotten my own butt handed to me by these guys and I’m left dead and amazed by their mad skillz! I learn from these sorts of things, as I do with any class. I look at what they did to me, how they did it and find a way to counter it.. or in this case, play better as I am too a thief! (but not THAT kitten good as described by some here — or in game as I hear “death stories”.)

What makes me laugh even more about all these complaints is that quite often it’s not even a thief, it’s a mesmer!! And YES, repeatedly I’ve seen people start grumblin’ about that frikken thief that just killed them and someone points out, that wasn’t a thief .. that .. was a mesmer. (Sorry but it’s true!)

I love Thieves <3 Though our shoulders are not quite big enough to carry all the deaths we get blamed for in this game, so please don’t nerf us.. our burden as scapegoats is a heavy enough weight to carry as is!

I just have to wonder if a guild playing on two servers who are matched against each other is even allowed? I mean you can “guest” on other servers and not be allowed to WvW so as not to do what RUN has done here, but apparently Anet has no issue with a guild playing on both if they transfer servers and not simply guest?

I thought the whole point of limiting the free server transfers to one week and not allowing wvw play when guesting was to keep this sort of thing from happening?

Personally the trouble that this guild caused during the two weeks of play on TC was bad enough to report them, but now playing on opposing teams? I’d really like to hear what Anet has to say about something as blatant as this.

yeah zane thats the battlegroup system. In DAOC when you formed a battlegroup you could make it open or closed, invite who you want or let everyone join, inside the battlegroup people could form their own regular groups. Thats the system we need here.

I initially was all for the commander icons, despite the crazy cost, but have since changed my mind. It seems MOST of them that I’ve seen on our server are not owned by WvW’ers but rather people who PvE’d to gather up 100g and then decided to WvW while those who were lvling up on the battlefield for the most part, day in and day out couldn’t afford them.

So these so call “commanders” come in and people follow them simply because of the stupid icon! I really really hate the fact that you can BUY your leadership and not have to earn it at all!

Solution, at least until the map is flooded with little blue icons lol (then we’ll have a new issue to post about on the forums. heh

Do not allow the use of “commander” in WvW unless certain WvW requirements have been met. Simply setting attainments such as 2/5 in things like kills, siege built, defense, yak guarding, camp taking .. sorry I forget all the categories.. :P

But.. it SHOULD be for most if not all of them, as a “commander” should have a good grasp for what is necessary to win in WvW .. not just be a good gold farmer!

It’s been a little over a month, I was under the impression free transfers would have ended quite a long time ago.

I WISH the transfers had ended as originally intended.. (I thought it was after the first week) .. they have caused so many WvW issues, this once a day transfer hasn’t made a bit of difference.

In TC we have alliances which are multiple guilds which all run together, and as our alliance does, have a voip and a forum for coordination. We have an open channel for each map so those outside the alliance can join as well.

It’s worked out pretty nice so far, outside of a guild or two kittencently joined the server and is not wanting to “play nice together” as all our alliances had been doing…
