Well, no. If you really want to buy legendary stuff, you can always buy gems and convert them to gold.
No thanks the gem to gold rate is poor that will make the ledgendary armour very expensive. I rather give my money to Anet then some gold seller!
You do realize the gold/gem exchange is run by Anet right you give them gems they give you gold? Further more you do realize that putting the highest tier of items up for sale on the Gem store would be pay to win which Anet said would never happen. Also on a side note the Legendary armor is supposed to be expensive, which is why its such a grind to get it to begin with.
Completely agree I loved Wow and after that Rift, then I found GW2, This is by far my favorite MMO yet, I like the majority of the changes that have been implemented and I don’t plan on leaving any time soon.
Just noticed today that the effect of the new LA content on TP prices seems to have pushed up the commission price too.
After three runs through LA and one circuit of the chests on the Queensdale Map, I actually lost money on selling accumulated loot on TP. Started with h43 gold…ended with h41gold (h standing for a figure I don’t want to mention).
So I either lost 2g on commission charges alone, or something is seriously wrong with the TP.
Anyone else noticed this?
If you listed items for sale and did not directly sell them this will appear as a loss until your sell order is completed and the gold delivered.
I work in Customer Support in the gaming industry and compared to who I work for Anet support are like gods. I have filed 3 tickets about issues with my characters since I started playing all 3 were resolved in under 12 hours, 1 was even resolved before I logged off that night, this game has by far the best customer support I have ever dealt with.
So we can upgrade crafting materials via the Mystic Forge as in this example rugged leather upgrades to thick leather etc. Perhaps we should be able to downgrade materials so the above example will also be true backwards, ie we downgrade thick leather into rugged.
I think something like this could be a great way for us to do something with the over stock of mith, thick leather etc. We will ALWAYS have a lot of this in supply due to the fact no matter where we kill enemies if we are lvl 80 we will always get drops that salvage into those tier mats. The problem here is even if we are in certain areas trying to kill for certain mats our lvl 80 can actually work against us. An idea such as this could really help out I think.
I get item drops on my lvl 80 ranger and lvl 70 warrior all the time that refine into level 1 and level 2 cloth mats.

Guild Wars 2 is one of… the best designed games I’ve played.
lolwut? You must be pretty new to gaming. This game has been plagued by awful design decisions from the start.
Can you give 3 examples where you wont get people having the opposite opinion of you about them?
I’ll shoot
1. Nothing in PvE matters besides DPS -> No gear diversity in PvE at all. Nerfing crit damage is not even coming close to changing the zerker meta. There is no reason to be in any other type of gear while doing PvE content….everything is a DPS check.. there are plenty of things that one hit you regardless of full soldiers gear…PvE is dodging at the right time (know the mechanics and DPS down the target ASAP). There is absolutely no other reason to have other gear than zerk.
2. Loot based around complete RNG. You want a precursor? well you either going to have extreme luck in toilet/drop or play for 2k+ hours and get no such reward (ppl have played since beta without seeing a precursor. great design right?)…same goes for many other loot that people really want and have grinded all day and night (fractal skins, ascended weapon/armor boxes, etc etc)
3. Zerg meta. All the rewarding things are there for people who just run along with a huge group and spam 111111. and they get rewarded… for what???
-Champ trains for PvE… they get the best loot in PvE bar none… 1 hour is ~ like 40-45 champ boxes… GL finding loot better than the zerg champ trains… No dung/frac come close to champ train…thats a huge flaw… rewarding those you put forth 0 effort with better things than those who actually grind dungs/fracs/events…
-Zergs in WvW… that’s what decides who the winner is in WvW… who has the biggest zerg usually wins. If you want the most loot bags/karma etc, then you, once again, should zerg!!!..There is no just reward for those who actually grind content like frac/dungs…its all about zerg zerg zerg
is that good enough for you or do you disagree completely on everything?
1) I use different armor types all the time while pveing, in fact my ranger, warrior, and rogue are all wearing something besides zerker gear I don’t really like the way that gear looks so I use other gear and build around my gear.
2) I know I may sound weird for saying this but I actually like grinding because of the world anet built for me to do it in, I can go to any zone I want and run events, kill champs, world bosses, help with other peoples personal stories all of which give me gear mostly at my level to rinse in the mystical toilet for precursor chances.
3) zergs can be fun, I love WvW ZergvZerg fights, they can also help make the LS group content easier to complete, at the same time all you have to do to avoid the zerg is go anywhere on the map where they are not and now you are fighting in small groups.
It isnt said what she is drilling..its another silly cliff hanger that we have to wait 2+ weeks to get the answer to.
This is one of the PRIME reasons that living story just won’t work…Tell a few bits of the story, and leave the rest to imagination. Many unanswered questions. Cliff hangers are good, but not every two weeks for every single LS update. Thats bad story telling. The best authors and writers in history do not use cliff hangers repeatedly. These little cliff hangers leave everything disjointed.
I couldn’t disagree more, they have made the LS feel like a TV show. Every 2 weeks I log in and play my way through the next episode, they don’t ruin the story by giving me everything up front and they keep you interested by going with cliff hanger endings instead of happily ever after endings.
I am sure everyone is already familiar with CoF P1 by now.
This is a hypothetical situation, but here’s the predicament:
We posted “LFG CoF P1 80s EXP Only” on LFG Tool.
We did the dungeon fine until the gate part.
One person in team does not know he/she has to stand in one of the four bubbles.
That person keeps killing the infinitely spawning mobs in the room.
We tried party chat to tell that person to stand in the bubble.
We tried whispering to that person to stand in the bubble.
That person refused and is threatening to report us if he/she gets kicked.
We cannot proceed to final boss because that person is not cooperating.
We either have to leave and start over, or kick him/her.
We chose to kick that person and get reported.
Since we still cannot proceed unless we get someone else, we invited a guildie.
The guildie said she was only in for the tokens, and said she wanted to share 30s with each of us out of the 1g26s she received at the end as thanks. So in the situation here, we kicked someone and invited a guildie in his/her place at the end of the dungeon, and received money from that guildie. But we had to kick, it’s obvious.
It might seem like we did this on purpose by abuse-kicking that person, but it clearly is not. When we are 1-member short, the first place to ask is guild chat. We did not sell the run either, she decided to share her reward. We would feel bad to refuse a gift from her and return the mail.
Which part of this could get us banned? Does Arenanet check chatlogs when someone reports people for being kicked in dungeons? Is this considered abusive behaviour?
I believe the dungeon is badly designed on that part…
The only report I would file in this case would be to report the person who was intentionally not following the process to clear the dungeon and threatening to report you for kicking, that’s why they put the kick mechanic in the game.
I wouldn’t want to see normal skills included in the events, but it would be nice to see the mini games moved to the spvp area just to make it easier to find/do them for dailies.
Given the way the achievements are setup I always wondered why we don’t already have a bestiary, but I would love to see on added so I could fill it out.
Persistance and High Fantasy at its finest

And I would disagree vehemently. I am 57, female, and don’t call me “son”.
I’ve read “High Fantasy” most of my life. This story isn’t, not by a long shot. It is a poorly done episodic childrens story in a “High Fantasy” setting.
Wiki also lists examples of “High Fantasy” along with the simplistic definition. “The Lord of the Rings, A Song of Ice and Fire, Malazan Book of the Fallen, The Wheel of Time” Having read them all, I see nothing in the LS story remotely resembling good story or what I would consider “High Fantasy”, much less “At its finest”.
Epic. No, just no. I’m fully aware of the laundry list of barely palatable tripe that you trotted out, and Epic isn’t a term I would use for this, save in combination with “failure”.
Have a nice day.
Expecting the LS content to rival or be better than a list of what is considered by many to be the pinnacle of the Fantasy genre is more than a little naive. If you would like to overwhelmed by the writing, back story, and plot points, might I recommend reading a book?
I’m not the one stating this LS is “High Fantasy at its Finest”, am I? Guess you missed that, it is the topic title.
No, you’re the one saying the game is not high fantasy because it can’t hold its own in a literary contest with LOTR, SOT, or WOT.
High fantasy: (also referred to as epic fantasy) is a sub-genre of fantasy fiction, defined either by its setting in an imaginary world or by the epic stature of its characters, themes and plot.
Nowhere in that definition do the words, “It must be as good as (insert work of fantasy fiction here)” appear, in fact the only qualifications to be considered are :
1) set in an imaginary world – well Tyria doesn’t actually exist so CHECK
2)Epic stature of Characters: – well they have Dragons larger than buildings, they also have characters that considered to be the heros of their entire race in the war against the dragons CHECK.
3)Epic Theme: – The current theme is destroying an entire city by way of airborne invasion by a magically augmented combination of three different hostile races CHECK.
4)Epic Plot: -Current plot point being developed is the world’s biggest bad guy is destroying what is basically the effective capitol of Tyria CHECK.
So TL : DR what we have is a 4 point check list of what it takes to qualify as “High Fantasy” as it is currently defined and GW2 hits all 4, that makes it High Fantasy.
Now whether you feel it is good or bad High Fantasy, that is entirely up to you and your personal preference. No one is saying that GW2 is the literary equivalent of LOTR, mainly because it’s not. However, that does not effect what genre it belongs in.
Concerned about Captain's airship passes.

They’re not even making an effort to be sneaky or subtle about it anymore.
you have no idea what you’re talking about. this is the same as the royal pass which has been in the game for a while, just with a different name.
Actually he has a point, yes they do give you access to all the things in the ship for free in different places, but, for example if you want to access the laurel merchant in the keep you can’t as it is in the airship, your only choice is to port to a city and port back, they didn’t necessarily MAKE you buy the pass they just make it so you have to pay in-game currency just to talk to a vendor unless you do, don’t get me wrong I was a huge fan of the permanent harvest tools, but the more they release stuff in that store the more I feel like their bringing the infomercial feel to Guild Wars 2 and that would ruin the game for me.

I really can’t support this game anymore. It’s soooooo kittening different then when i was playing at release date. I want to stop playing but i also want to support my guild during bounty, rush and challenge’s. I got excited since they “Increased” the drop rate on ascended armor with guild missions but i went in last week and the week before with 240% MF and got all yellows….still.
I almost feel like Anet has made the achievement point system it’s main bread and butter…I pretty much force myself to play once a week on Saturday for guild missions but after about a year of the SAME OLD missions week in and week out it’s not really worth it anymore.
Anyone else feeling this way? Maybe im just over MMO’s in general since it’s the same old crap over and over and over and over. I guess this game is the straw that broke the camels back for me.
You’re making the game suck for yourself. Stop doing the same missions, the same way, with the same char, in the same places, with the same people, using the same build on the same day every week and I bet you stop feeling bored. I try not to use the same character for more thank a few hour straight, I avoid guild missions I don’t like, I try all the new content as it gets released etc.
You don’t have to go to Gendarran Fields either, you can go to any capitol city. They all have banks. But if you can’t leave LA, then yeah you’re kittened.
Seeing now I can only goto Heart of the Mists and WvW maps.
My only hope is that we can hold Anvil Rock Valley in EB long enough for full vendor upgrade just to run to the bank. Thanks again Anet.
PS. Why would there not be a bank in Heart of the Mist.
This post makes no sense if you go to your home WvW map (in my case FA borderlands) and go through the portal marked for Lions Arch it automatically redirects you to the new Asura gate that was built in the new base, the bank is located in the nearby keep.
The wiki already has it listed that the design for the Asura gates was heavily influenced by the Stargate series. I would love to see a jump animation/movie that would play when you used one.

most of what Scarlet’s been up to has stretched the limits of believability even for a fantasy game where we have magic and monsters.
This makes no sense at all, those two phrases don’t even belong in the same sentence, "has stretched limits of believability " , “for a fantasy game where we have magic and monsters”
noun: magic
1. the power of apparently influencing the course of events by using mysterious or supernatural forces. Its MAGIC, it doesn’t always make sense that’s why we call it magic and not science.
I am sorry, but you are so wrong here it hurts. First, even a fantasy setting and fantasy story need to be internally consistent. If it’s not, they are not a setting or story at all, but only an incoherent babbling. Second, the fact that “mysterious or supernatural forces” exist doesn’t mean those are not also bound by their own rules. While those rules are often more nebulous and less clear-cut than we’re used to with scientific aproach, they generally do exist (if there are no rules at all, it’s generally a mark of a bad writing). As far as we know the magic in GW2 is not one of such “no rules” cases, and does have rules and limitations. While exceptions are still possible, too many of those (or too big ones) just devalue the rest of the setting. And third, the sentence “stretches the limits of believability” is always relevant to any story, regardless of how magical or weird it would be. Basically, the story needs to make sense, needs to be relatable by the reader. If it doesn’t, then it doesn’t, and all waving the “it’s magic” card around accomplishes is to make it even more senseless.
Besides, most of the logical inconsistences in the Scarlet story are not connected with magic at all.TL/DR: “Magic” in a story doesn’t mean you can forget about sense and logic.
“the fact that “mysterious or supernatural forces” exist doesn’t mean those are not also bound by their own rules. "
Having rules exist and knowing what those rules are and what they do are not the same thing. I’m not saying there are no rules, I’m saying they are not explained or defined in enough detail to say state a fact based on those rules, meaning you can’t say “X is impossible” without having the rulebook available that applies to X. And you make this point for me with this line "As far as we know the magic in GW2 is not one of such “no rules” cases…"
“And third, the sentence “stretches the limits of believability” is always relevant to any story"
LOL go read the dark tower series, if that doesn’t “stretch(es) the limits of believability” every third or fourth paragraph, I don’t know what does, and it is an amazing series considered by many to be the some of if not the best work in its genre. On a side note “believability” stretches as far as your imagination is willing to let it.
“needs to be relatable by the reader.”
I have never lived through or met someone who has lived through a city being attacked by pirates in flying ships with guns that shoot fires balls who decided to fire bomb a public holiday being held in said city. I have also never defended my hometown from an invasion of mechanical monsters, flying pirates or giant magically inclined, mechanically modified rats(yes I’m talking about the Dredge/Flame Legion here) Further more I have never teamed up with a detective to track down and apprehend the master mind who arranged the previously described events. However, that fact did not stop me from enjoying the LS quests where exactly that happens.

“So I guess my question is, do “I” really want this? " first off fixed that for you, I love the scarlet character, if you had done the quest they put up for this event and you actually listened to the “information” that has been collected by the detective you work with you would have noticed by now they are making scarlet out to be the GW2 version of Moriarty from Sherlock, I love that show and absolutely love the idea of them putting that type of character in an MMO for me to fight.
.Do you know how deeply you just insulted Arthur Conan Doyle?
First he’s dead its hard to be insulted when you don’t breathe anymore. Secondly I didn’t say she was THE Moriarty, GW2 would have to spend more time and people than they have to make that character perfectly and do the back story it deserves, but as I said in an MMO setting its nice to get to fight a character who is similar to M especially given the lines they drew between the characters with the last little LS event/quest.

Hello Guild Wars 2 Community!
I am very excited to have purchased my deluxe edition of GW2! I have done some modest research, and most information or videos I have seen had made me very excited to try out this game!
Some things that made this decision very easy for me:
1) NO Monthly Subscriptions!!! Thank you
2) Weekly-Monthly updates. Great to see how much content was added for FREE. Again, these two things made the decision just that much more easier for me.
3) The combat. Good paced fighting and plenty of monsters to kill. The skills I’ve seen look very fun to play with
4) Wow, the sheer amount of players in a server looks amazing! And I’m really looking forward to these huge, epic, crazy fights with a ton of people taking down a demon! Wow that looks epic!
I’ve never played a subscription based game, and I don’t ever plan on doing so.
I am the type of gamer, who usually picks one game and goes all in, head first. I guess you can say I take my video games like a relationship, and I’m a one game type of guy
I would list my previous loving game obsession, but I don’t dwell in past relationships and I’m looking forward to this one
Any tips for a first time player of Guild Wars?
Welcome to the party, find a good, active guild that does what you want to do in game, some will literally do all aspects of game play from dungeons to fractals to Spvp to wPVP to event farming, to living story achievements etc. Don’t wait to level cap your first character to start a second, just switching between my main and alts changes the way the game plays and makes it more interesting. Also, Don’t make a mesmer for your first character.
It definitely gets better, my first character like yours was a mesmer, I hated it and walked away from the game for most of 6 months, came back made a ranger an warrior and have loved it ever since and yes I did go back and try a mes again and still didnt like it. I am currently tormenting myself with trying to level an elementalist which seems almost as hard. You just have to get used to how the different classes play, trying to use traditional MMO play styles just doesn’t work with some of the GW2 classes because of the mechanics in the game, your dodging example is perfect for that. While you can’t dodge all damage figuring out when to use those 2 dodges to avoid the majority of incoming DPS takes some getting used to.

secondly,
“Scarlet and this entire story arc are better left forgotten, not immortalized. "
Couldn’t be farther from the truth, if you don’t like scarlet then fine hate her guts and the guy who came up with the idea, but I like her character and concept and I like the idea of being able to point a part of the game 2-3 years from now and tell a newer player I remember that the way it used to be before, (insert name of living story expansion that changed it) happened.
Saw this on a post in another thread and felt it deserved it’s own discussion.
Isn’t it rather sad that the most popular feature of GW2, is a mini-game that has nothing to do with GW2?
Kind of puts things into perspective if you think about it. People are more interested in a Mario style game instead of the actual game. Just seems rather bad that out of all the Living Story stuff we have received, a mini game that is not really GW2 at all is the most popular of them all.
Just makes you feel this game is doing something wrong if people are more excited about an 8bit Mario game instead of the actual GW2 game.
The only thing I find sad is how every single new content patch that has been released in the last 2 months is met by dozens of cry threads. I like the super adventure box, I have been waiting for them to bring it back since they got rid of it. If you don’t like it then don’t play it, 14 days after release there will be something else that you may like that I don’t, how about acting like an adult instead of that five year old in the cereal isle screaming because mommy won’t buy him his favorite sugar rush.
Go play another game then. I don’t know how you can play a game if you can’t jump.
Well, good morning Captain Sensitive!
Musta felt pretty good being able to type that. What did you do next, go to the store, park in a Handicap spot, and pour oil on the wheelchair ramp?
Why don’t you try showing a little class?
That said, I totally agree. ANet, like any good company should always be considering accessibility issues. This can mean anything from people with disabilities to players crippled by latency issues.
I’ve been posting about how this new content is potentially out of reach for many players, and as of yet ANet has outright ignored it. Now, we see a few players that are unable to participate due to the mechanics, and instead of ANet addressing it, they further ignore it.
ANet, here is a simple solution. Move, or replicate the voting at the lower waypoint as well. There is no reason why you can’t do this.
If the guy with no hands can kill a mob which requires pushing at least 2 buttons and moving he can jump, all it takes is different buttons if you don’t like the positioning you can edit the key binding to make it easy but if you can kill a mob you can make those three jumps. The level of tears in this thread honestly scares me.
I can’t wait to see this happen two weeks is perfect for the way I play, assuming you pull this off as well as you have the living story so far I may not play another mmo again when there is new content available this often
