A guild member of mine found a (somewhat technical) workaround for this problem:
By logging in on the arena.net page you will obtain a session cookie that is by default only valid for arena.net (and thus your browser does not send it to the leaderboards.guildwars2.com page!). By copying this session cookie and changing its domain from “*.arena.net” to “*.guildwars2.com”, the leaderboards will recognize you and have you logged in.
We use our own custom program to pull the leaderboards and get the necessary info. As such, I cannot recommend any way to manually do this in a web browser. Anything that allows you to modify cookies should work fine though.
Since the new arena.net login form came online, I cannot login to the leaderboards. I use the leaderboards to check my guild’s member activity outside of the game (e.g. when the last achievement point was obtained). I’ve tried to log in with 2 different accounts and have the problem on both.
To reproduce:
- Go to https://leaderboards.guildwars2.com/
- Click login (you will be redirected to the arena.net login form)
- Enter your credentials
- After successfully logging in it doesn’t redirect you back to the leaderboards but instead will keep you on the arena.net account website
- Visiting https://leaderboards.guildwars2.com/ again does not show you as logged in.

I just logged in and checked, the issue is indeed resolved for me. I’m very happy to be able to chat normally again!
Received a new update just now:
“Thank you for your patience as we investigated the issues you have been experiencing with chat. The developers will be making a change which we believe should clear up these problems.
If you are still unable to see party, guild, and whispered chat 24 hours from now, please contact us and let us know so that we can continue to investigate your account.
We apologize for the length of time it has taken us to come to a resolution as this was a particularly difficult issue to track down. If you have any other questions or concerns, please let us know!"
Here’s my latest reply from Guild Wars 2 support:
“I just wanted to just briefly touch base with you regarding your chat issues. The inability to see chat appears to be related to a larger issue which we are working to correct. I apologize for our lack of response to your ticket, rest assured we have been and are continuing to investigate this issue.
We will keep you posted directly if and when there are any significant updates to the situation. Please let us know if you have any questions in the meantime."
If I get any further updates on my ticket, I shall let you guys know here.
Since a few days I am suffering from the exact same issue. It is extremely frustrating as a guild leader, especially since we have a guild mission night coming up which will be impossible for me to lead…
So far I have tried the following:
- Checked the chat-tab settings to make sure /party and /guild were enabled
- Logged out and back in to different characters
- Set status to offline/online
- Rebooted my computer
- Guested on a different server
- Ran guild wars 2 with -repair
- Reinstalled the game from scratch
- Turned off all downloads
- Completely disabled my firewall
- Ran the connection through a VPN to rule out weird ISP issues
Nothing helps. I finally submitted a support ticket, supplying GameAdvisor logs and received the following reply:
Thank you for contacting our team about a game issue that you experienced.
The Guild Wars 2 Development Team is aware of this issue and team members currently are working on addressing it. Please keep an eye on the official forums for any future updates and announcements regarding Guild Wars 2.
GW2 is an amazing game, but this bug is absolutely game breaking for a social player like myself and honestly quite unacceptable. I am hoping this problem gets fixed soon and if anyone finds a solution, please do share!
Since a couple of days now, the achievements for crabtoss have been bugged. Now, crabtoss is gone and many players were not able to finish the achievements due to these bugs. As a completionist, both in GW1 and GW2, not being able to get some of these achievements is very painful. Even more so because it was outside of our reach due to a technical error.
Please ArenaNet, extend the crabtoss minigame. Or even better, just bring it back forever. There is no reason why this minigame should be temporary. Unlike canach’s lair, it has no living story connection. Also, it would be a welcome addition to the currently very limited amount of minigames.

Doesn’t seem like it’s bothering as many as I would have hoped. If you feel the above ideas could be important for guilds, please let your voice be heard in this thread.
Trust me, many people want these features. Threads like these are posted practically every week on this forum (just browse back a few pages and look for posts with ‘guild’ in their title), and I’ve also seen them often on reddit (with enough upvotes to claim the #1 post on /r/guildwars2).
Sadly, none of them have received a response from ArenaNet… Not even something small like “we heard you and we are working on something”.
The current state of guilds in GW2 is a disgrace and should realistically be their number 1 priority. Basic functionality that was available in GW1, and is available in every other MMO out there, is missing. Functionality that is absolutely crucial to running a guild effectively.
One suggestion that is missing from your list, that has also been often repeated is the ‘message of the day’ actually popping up in chat when you log in. Currently the message of the day is completely missing its purpose as an announcement tool because it doesn’t show up in chat. Most people sadly don’t care to open the guild window and read it. This makes publishing announcement and schedules about (for example) guild missions, unnecessarily difficult.
I believe we’ve been asking for this (and the “last seen online” feature) for quite some time now. In all honesty, it doesn’t seem too difficult to implement, so I’m not sure why it’s taking so long. Especially when you compare it to something as complex as guild missions, which are already in the game.
Maybe to ArenaNet this seems like just a small low-priority feature, but we really need this stuff! Managing even a mid-sized guild is currently unnecessarily difficult and a real pain.
Halloween is coming up soon and I want to organize an event for my guild. We want to meet in Lion’s Arch and party! We are expecting Lion’s Arch to be the go-to place for halloween, so overflow is going to be inevitable.
I know you can join other people in an overflow if you are in the same party (“join in” feature), but that’s not enough to get an entire guild of around 100 man together. So I’m wondering, how can I get my entire guild together in the same overflow?
