Hey… I honestly have no idea how to go about this so… moving on.
I’ll be posting artwork on here from time to time and perhaps a little background on what made me think of that image or in what way it could be used in the game, as the creation of this topic I’m making a weapons skin idea for the shatterer and how we could have some pink/purple crystal+rock based weapons.
On the site I usually upload there is some NSFW stuff on there, so, be warned.
Link is: http://biobasher.deviantart.com/
Onto the artwork :P
Something I’d been working on for abit and plan to do something with later.
My mesmer from the game, the GS and hairstyle has changed since the creation of this image.
———————————————————————————————————————————————————————-
Backstory: She escapes from the grove merely weeks after she was born into this world. The tree was being assaulted with flames and bombs. One of these flames managed to detonate a nearby bomb, causing permanent blindness. She and a couple of survivors managed to climb onto a boat and sail south towards the deserts. However hampered the group with her inability to see, she was left to rot… It was not long before she was captured yet again though…
A gladiator slave trader found her and brought her into the stadium, where she would have to fight. At the start all her battles failed, and would often go back beaten and bloodied. As time grew though, she learnt how to get past her disability, listening to every heartbeat, feeling every vibration. It was after she had found these traits she began devising a plan to survive, and to escape. One day in the arena there was a lack of crowds, she sensed a lack of people in the area, a lack of heartbeats and clammoring. This was her chance. As a mesmer she had the ability to blink and create clones. Going for the clearest seating area she teleported and began running for the exits, creating clones and sending them forward first to draw the attention of guards. She was free at last, but would forever be hunted by her owners…
———————————————————————————————————————————————————————-
———————————————————————————————————————————————————————-
During the story the tree still lives but it heavilly damaged and no new sylvari will be born for a very long while. The next sylvari born would become the most elite of their race as the tree has had the most amount of time to look back and re-configure the way it produces them. With more knowledge and better survivability adaptations. Similar to how mordremoth probably based some of his designs on circumstances.
———————————————————————————————————————————————————————-
———————————————————————————————————————————————————————-
Age: 5yrs old (Sylvari are generally born as adults so in human years, I’d say 29-30)
Color: Black with orange glow.
Weapons: She prefers greatswords but is more then happy to dual wield swords. Her favorite variant being scimitar’s.
Abilities: As a mesmer she has the ability to create clones and teleport. However in her circumstances she has developed the ability to listen to heartbeats and tiny pulses in the earth. She can also handle parkour somewhat.
———————————————————————————————————————————————————————-
This took a fair amount of time, and I enjoyed it.
Hopefully I can finish off these plans for the “Shatterer” boss weapons. (perhaps a rare drop from him or a craftable for crystal lodestones… they’re useless as far as I know atm :<)
… So youre telling me that you made n impatient decision and want 800 gems? Are you kittening kidding me? This is the second forum post I’ve seen today about some greedy kittener who wants more.
On the one side we have people who are happy with this. And on the other we have People who are rather upset about it. Here’s most the points for both.
People against HoT will normally consist of this.
Pricing.
Lack of a character slot.
Being a vetran and already having the game.
And then people who bought the game after that 1 POI (which I personally think is the most legitimate reason to be mad).
=========
People for HoT are these kinds of people, and I fall into this category as well.
Pricing to hours they’re going to spend in game.
The excitement for the expansion.
Buisness thoughts such as the general idea of: More players = More Money = More Content for the players. As well as the argument that vetrans saw content that newbies won’t get the chance to.
And looking at the constant sales the games seems to have makes the pricing of it abit useless and more beneficial to bring in players.
Now, Yes, this is somewhat biased and I have likely missed something for both. But this is the general consensus.
There’s a few ways to go about this and keep the customers happy though. Like I stated some people have been wanting a character slot. That is something that could easilly be implimented. However some people would probably still be abit bitter about free core for new players, which you can’t really do anything about them cause they’ll likely be the ones that complain no matter what happens.
Showing more then what you currently have. People really are blindfolded at the moment. And I think until the beta comes out, it’s going to stay that way :l. Having a better insight though will likely help people come to a decision.
Don’t be silent, Oh the irritation that’s being caused here simply because the dev’s are shying away, yes, you’re going to be bombarded with people complaining, but manning up and taking the problem head on is so much better then slinking into the shadows. Slinking into the shadows leaves people in the dark, again, more blindfolds. They begin to lose trust and reasons to continue playing.
Physical editions, now, they can contain just the disk/keycode, I’m not entirely bothered about that. But there needs to be some variety. So a similar model to the current prices but with things like statues and art books. I’ll be more then happy to buy the artbook.
===========
Hopefully this thread will stay somewhat mature… Oh who am I kidding, this is the internet xD.
No, I think the funniest thing about this is that if someone doesnt have an argument they pull something like Quaniesan, yet people are wanting a character slot. Which actually makes you look like the person wanting a treat… lol.
Make sure that you get a lid with that popcorn. Because the kittenstorm is just getting started. When gaming websites and youtube journalists start covering this, the amount of poop coming down from the sky could easily ruin your snack.
No, not my popcorn!
I’m just gonna grab my popcorn and watch this play out from now on …
Omg wow Ambika, you nailed it! I loved your reply. My wife and I do that, when we value an item of entertainment, we ask ourselves how much time will we enjoy it vs the cost of the activity/item/whatever. Video games are frequently cost efficient and we aren’t stingy with putting money on them. This expansion will probably contribute to thousands of hours of gameplay. It would have to be absurdly expensive before we would decide to not buy it. We both got the Ultimate Expansion.
You’re not the only one, if it looks like I’m going to be playing a while, which I certainly will be, I’ll buy it. I just feel that most of these so called “Veterans” also known as “Whiny pricks who believe they have some sort of entitlement because they bought the game first”(at least the ones who are constantly having a go about HoT and the lack of a character slot). The core game with the expansion’s a great idea, it insentivises to get new players in, and more players = more money, and more money goes on to become more content. We win in the long run, it’s just sad to see some people can’t see anything beyond their noses.
This is so true! It’s amazing that people have forgotten how empty the maps were and then complained about it. Then they condensed the map populations worked and they complained about it. Now they are trying to pull in more people to play with and all they hear is “free for new players.” I’m embarrassed for them!
Yeah, in the long run everyone gets benefitted from it, newbies experience the game, current players get more content and probably at a faster pace because, at least from a buisness stand point. More money can go into paying the development team. And the dev’s go home with a salary. Ofc, nobody thinks outside of the cardboard box apparently.
So bogotter make a video about the debacle.

Demanding a cheaper product in gw2 simply because “I’ve been here longer (while ignoring that fact that you’ve already gotten something out of your time, but hey that doesn’t help your point does it)” would be like you calling your cable company and demanding you pay less simply because you’ve been around longer. You’re an entitled brat in both cases.
Uninformed people love to parrot the word “entitled”.
You are comparing a subscription service to a single purchase product. And the funny thing is that cell phone providers, who too offer a subscription service, tend to reward their loyal customers.
“believing oneself to be inherently deserving of privileges or special treatment.” Most people complaining about character slots, are claiming they’re entitled to something. The rest, not so much.
Hm, it’s gone quiet, maybe I hit more then 1 raw nerve?

And you’re missing my point, everything in the gem store could be earned with gold. If you chose to purchase it with money then that was a decision you made.
That still doesn’t change the fact that players have been buying lots of things from the Gem Store, and paying for the supposedly free content by doing so. So saying that the content was free… it wasn’t really. We all paid for it.
Again, an option you made and could’ve done differently.
But you do realize to support the devs some of those players needed to purchase gems with real money.
I guess what I’m getting at is that you haven’t purchased gems before while others that have are making a mistake. So in reality you’re the one that has chosen to NOT support the devs by NOT purchasing gems. You’re right, he/she doesn’t have to purchase them but he/she does because he/she enjoys the content and therefore supports the game.
a response just now “Hm, that is true, in which case I guess most of our arguments are flawed, people complaining about no character slot reasons and the free content reasons… It’s actually an interesting thing about this.”
There are a lot of complaints about HoT. The biggest issue is not the content but the price tag ($50), the content, and the free game for new players ($40 New) but for veterens: the price tag ($50), the content. (Big period there. )
New Players
- Heart of Thorns ($50)
- Base Game ($40)
- Content (Whether big or small, we don’t know yet.)TOTAL = $50
Veterens
- Heart of Thorns ($50)
-Base Game ($40)
- ContentTOTAL = $50
When it should be = $50 – $40 = $10when you mention the base game there’s no ground for you to stand on there as you’ve got what you paid for, again, 3 years of content. So that second bit has about as much of a chance of standing as dusk dropping.
Watch potatoes vid, he covers many things, and brings up that the expansion should just be $40, no changes to what comes with it, just a price change.
But the game is still $40. So I still have ground because the game still has value. I really don’t understand why I’ve wasted my time here with negligent players. I’m never visiting this thread again so any wasted effort to make your argument sound valid and prove your point will be pointless. Don’t bother replying if the truth hurts. You’re out $50, I’ve got The Witcher 3 and Fallout 4 on the way and this game and it’s content is OVERPRICED anyways. Keep supporting Greed™
OOH, I think I may have hit a nerve or something. Don’t worry. I probably won’t be on the forums for long either, all I see is a bunch of crying babies if you ask me. As for the “Don’t bother replying if the truth hurts” Here’s a truth, more players make for a better game (more in the sense that more players → more money → more devs to make more content) I just hope they don’t end up being people like yourself
I pretty much agree 100% with woodenpotatoes.
I must admit my ONLY concern is whether it will have enough content. I sure hope it will….
Well, so long as you intend to put over 50-100+hrs into it, yeah :P
And you’re missing my point, everything in the gem store could be earned with gold. If you chose to purchase it with money then that was a decision you made.

Yeah, imagine if we all did differently. If nobody payed that cash shop. Yeah none of those free updates you talked about, forget about this XPACK, and say goodbye to a whole lot of players.

New player leaving because of HoT. The irony.

You can’t claim false advertising if you don’t know whether or not they had this planned from the beginning. If it was planned a week ago and made official the other day, then it’s still not false advertising because they have offered the refunds already to remedy the situation. Now that whole deal is another mess entirely where I can see some of the frustration. But again, you have no proof that it was false advertising.
Of course it’s false advertising. It doesn’t matter what the reason or timing behind their change of plans is, what was initially advertised doesn’t match the final product.
As for their remedy to the situation, it’s laughable. They just delete your account, and that’s only if you bought the game from Anet directly. The time you spend, the items and gold you gathered, and even the gems you bought with real money are going to waste. Some compensation. I’m sure new players will be thrilled to do business with Anet in the future.
Yes, especially if people like you are still around, oh the joys of having a community as negative as all hell! -_-
Like I said, if you couldn’t be bothered to earn it in game, it’s called tough s***. That was a choice you made :P
No, you’re missing the point of what I’m saying. I’m saying it wasn’t free. You are calling players greedy and ungrateful for enjoying a game for 3 years, along with free content, and still complaining. But it wasn’t free. We paid for it through the Gem Store.
And you’re missing my point, everything in the gem store could be earned with gold. If you chose to purchase it with money then that was a decision you made.
Most people who’ve played the game since release have seen 3 years of free content, some of which new players won’t see. And before you say about gem store, those are optional, you can grind or pay for that, if you couldn’t be bothered to grind for it, tough s***.
I’ll say something else about the Gem Store. Didn’t the Gem Store basically pay for their expenses when making that “free” content?
Like I said, if you couldn’t be bothered to earn it in game, it’s called tough s***. That was a choice you made :P
This is NOT and NEVER was a sub game. There are other non-sub games out there, compare it to one of those.
It had an improved combat system.
It had an improved questing system.
It had an improved event system.
It had free content over 3 years.
It had 0 p2w.Everything cost 50$ only.
I think they won the comparison.
Yeah GW2 is a great game, and gave all the promised value at its price when released (I pre-ordered the 60$ package).
This half kitten “expansion” is not worth the cost of the full game.. Now show me some kind of relevant comparisons that show why HOT is worth 50$?
First off, why would they show you everything to offer? nobody does that. It’s like giving someone a movie to watch and then trying to get them to read the book, only a few will sit down and read it.
Second. Comparing to most games this is a pretty average price, compare it to bigger MMO’s like WoW…
(edited by Biobasher.2619)
Most people who’ve played the game since release have seen 3 years of free content, some of which new players won’t see.
It’s not like they paid $60 for the original game or anything, right?
You paid for what you saw. I’d also like to point out that this could very well have been a monthly sub game. Yes, you spent $60 on the game, but again, 3 years of free content? I’d take it, you see games nowadays coming out year after year forcing $60. But this is a 1 in 3 year time they’ve said “Look, we’ve made an expansion, can you please buy it?”. And it’s greeted by a bunch of people acting like children because “Oh there’s no character slot” or “Oh the core game’s coming along”. What part is it that people miss?
For the character slots, yes, same developers, but that’s like me saying about Bethesda or some other company, they don’t do everything the same every game.
The core game, look at the price it’s been for a while, look at it. That’s not exactly worth it to Anet. Among with the fact that new players = more money, and more money = more content. I don’t see how this is a negative for many people…I’m not sure if it was here or elsewhere I posted this, but the only ones that deserve to be mad are the ones from last week’s points of interest.
Hopefully when they release the physical versions and they’re more appealing (for your sakes at least) the negative sods can get their a** out of a twist.
I’d like to point out that if this was a sub game most players who came from wow and other sub games probably would have STAYED. And on top of that, players such as me who were ONLY interested in pre-purchasing the game BECAUSE it had no sub would have never been here.
This is NOT and NEVER was a sub game. There are other non-sub games out there, compare it to one of those.
Then compare, but you admitted yourself, you wouldn’t be here if there was a sub fee, and that goes for many people. They could have tried draining you out of every coin those 3 years, but they didn’t. Which is what baffles me as to why people are complaining. I didn’t play GW1, I joined GW2 6 months ago and tried catching up, the destruction of LA, Scarlet briar, those weird manequin things, all that I would’ve liked to have seen and taken part in… but I wasn’t, which makes me envy some players who did all this. The fact that nobody takes into consideration the things that’ve been given to them is just… Unsettling. It actually proves the greed that people have, and that nothing will ever satisfy some people.
well….another kisser
Another complainer
Mostly vinegar with some little specks of honey littered in. Then the honey gets pooped on by the people carrying the vinegar because, you know, the honey doesn’t stink as bad as they want it to.
Yeah, if it wasn’t for those negative nancies. So what if the company used false advertising to rip them off? What if Anet forces them to buy something they already own? These are not valid complaints.
Funny that the EAnet apologists are actually more vocal and try to silence the rest.
It’s funny that I see you in multiple threads constantly picking and choosing sections to try get your own point through. Also, Anet’s came out and said the price wouldn’t change regardless of the core game. So jokes on you

If you’re unable to see that the playerbase is crudely being manipulated to shell out for a $100, I can’t help you.
Offering kitten entry with no option to play the new class included was always going to cause an uproar. It doesn’t matter whether you can farm up the gold. You’re being charged twice to play the content you paid for.
I have a response to this, and it’s gonna be great, they could’ve gone with a monthly fee and you’d have paid £360 over 3 years, now, I don’t know about you, but those 3 prices look much more promising then a paid subsciption fee that they could’ve done. Along with the free content you’ve had those 3 years.
The only people who should legitimately be mad, are the ones from last week’s Point’s of Interest.
Entitled’s description “believing oneself to be inherently deserving of privileges or special treatment.” Which is basically what many of the whining veterans think they are, at least the majority that are complaining.
Most people who’ve played the game since release have seen 3 years of free content, some of which new players won’t see. And before you say about gem store, those are optional, you can grind or pay for that, if you couldn’t be bothered to grind for it, tough s***.

So as long as I make my image look different in a few ways from costume to physical appearance, I’m fine? Ok. Thanks Hahnchen
That’s where the complications come in, it’s a college project yes, but I need to sell them, it’s part of the project, as I said earlier, I need to create a product/service.
I should have mentioned that these needed to be sold in the earlier statement as I’ve probably confused a few people now. Then it wont be covered under the fair use act, nor under a net’s policy. Both only allow for educational use or non profit.
You’re gonna need to come up unfortunately with an original idea ;(
Yeah :l, I’ve changed the mordremoth looking dragon slightly with a few colourization changes and patterns. As for the Sylvari, I guess I could call her an ent or Spriggan.
So you’re the reason there is so much lag in the world… all those assets seriously stress their servers… which is why doing things like this is a bannable offense. Reported.
You don’t seem to be one for creativity or having fun do you?

I have a question more then anything but couldn’t find the area where I should put it.
I was recently given a college assignment to work with a group of people to create a product or service. Because I like artwork/games and the other 3 liked t-shirts, games and music, we came to an agreement of shirts. However. One idea I had was to make a shirt with one of the nightmare court stroking a miniature Mordremoth dragon looking creature from the concept art of Mordremoth.
I don’t know if this would get me in copyright trouble at all, and would rather have a permission then to assume. Seeing as assumptions can usually lead to being wrong…
Edit: I forgot to mention that these needed to be sold on college grounds for a profit… Hence why I’m asking.
SPOILERS!

(as for the choice as to why nightmare court, the nightmare court thought that they were lied to by the pale tree and finds out it’s true and supposed to be creatures to Mordremoth…)
