To be honest, most current DCs are caused by the connection between the server and your client. Your router can be fine, your ISP can be fine, Anet’s ISP can be fine, but something gets kittened between that will cause you to DC. I’m lucky to live at a place where I have very stable connections with the server, so I almost never have them currently. Disconnects due to client-server errors are way rarer than people think.

On topic, yes, that stupid 2 minute trigger should get changed to 1 minute or less. 2 minutes is way too long as the game can be completely changed after just 30 seconds of 4vs5.

Step 2) Grab one of those stock PvP builds or experiment on your own.
Step 3) Play.

didn’t they remove the decay thing? like you cant lose 100 SR per game anymore like u could in previous season with decay

I honestly don’t know actually. I know that while you have decay, even if you loose, you’ll gain rating back.
My post, although possible in theory, was meant more as a joke.

It was shown during last season that matchmaking builds up teams a bit unevenly, giving sometimes rather clear advantage to one of them and apparently it does that way more often than you’d think. Anet did reply to the thread as well, if I remember correctly the official response was that they are looking into it. In the meantime, all you can really do is pray that you either get equal enough teams or end up in the favored team.

If this happens as often as you say it does, does that mean these bad quality matches have more to do with this glitch/bug/issue, rather than the often “low population” excuse?

It could be the case yes. Just lately Anet added a note that matchmaking will rebuild the teams if one or more players fail to click Accept button, meaning there was a slight potential for very uneven teams whenever that happened. However, in normal cases, why would matchmaking be happy about teams that are uneven more than just slightly is unclear. Once you have 10 people, building two teams is not very complicated. If what Exedore posted is correct then the “time in queue” factor might have too big of an influence on the outcome. Maybe it considers some more values, like the volatility of each person’s rating? Or maybe there are some checks that are either missing or not working properly that determine whether the result in progress or finished is good. Furthermore, it would be wrong to judge the equality of teams based on average rating only, because if one team has 4 low rating + 1 high rating players and the other team has all 5 players with ratings very close to the average of team 1 then that’s also a kittened up case. Can only guess what’s going on, since we can’t see under the hood. The result to us is somewhat visible though – ratings can be pulled for each player (although painful) and the match results themselves speak quite a lot – no, the enemy player is not getting lucky in every teamfight and capturing and player locations (being at the right place at the right time). It is all happening for a reason and it’s because the other team has higher rating.

If matchmaking is still the same as in season 5, I’ll most likely skip this season and focus on learning new classes, lingering mostly between Bronze-Gold divisions. Maybe I’ll go all out at the end of season.

I always felt S2 and S3 were best in terms of matchmaking as it gave me more stable and more even games. Right now it feels like S4 all over again.

Anyways, I got some first data to put it.

I skipped all that math you did though.
We lost the match, because right after the first battle at mid people started enraging. In the middle of the match we got our teamwork working and held two points successfully and it was easy to stomp through blue team. However, people just had to start yelling again when there was trouble at home, people lost focus, rotation slowed down and lost it in the end. Lost 15 points, which is more than I usually loose, so I suppose matchmaking set up red team to win this.

Nothing wrong with doing this to avoid being bleed out. Bleeding someone out is trolling and a loser move. Who wants to waste their pvp time sitting in downed state for ages. It is a joke.

If you bleed people out regularly then you are a try hard troll.

Nothing wrong letting people bleed to death. It’s a valid tactic to prevent them from getting back into fight too soon.

P.S It’s actually quite clever though, I just might pitch in, because I’ve had a feeling that I’m getting matched against teams that just has much higher mmr than mine, since my team usually doesn’t even have bad players, we just can’t do anything against their better working synergy.

Close matches give/lose less points – that way you fight until the last second! (If we get 100 point more i won’t lose as much mmr! Let’s do this!)

More points we gain and lose! This will produce faster movement for those missplaced ones, those who suffered from decay and give everyone else the illusion they could move up (like me)
Because when i calculate how much win’s i would need to move up (no loses included) the number of games is as high that i don’t even try – it’s like gambling, the illusion should suggest big prices! (And as long as the pips i can lose are proportional – i won’t move at a 50/50 win ratio)

Anet’s message is quite clear – if the score is something like 200-400 or 350-450, don’t even bother coming out of base anymore, because fighting hard to the last minute only wastes everyone’s time and post-pones the inevitable. (Yes, comebacks do occur, but the likelyhood is very low at this point)

An acquaintance of mine had similar experience – he received around 300 gold from a friend of his as a gift. Arena Net believed that this gold originated from a gold seller, so the gold just got removed from his account with no restrictions applied to the account itself. So no, your account is not in jeopardy, the gold will just be removed.

In the meantime, could you perhaps make it so that after I’ve reported someone, they’ll automatically be added to the block list? If I report someone for selling gold, it’s pretty much a 99% guarantee I got whispered and I don’t want to receive any whispers after that. But after I’ve blocked the person, I just can’t always be bothered to make more clicks in order to report him, because I’m in the middle of a PvP game for example and I definitely don’t want some window to pop up in the middle of my screen after I’ve blocked the person anyways.

I’d like this post to serve multiple purposes.
First off, I’d like to make a request to Arena Net to remove all unnecessary invisible walls in the guild halls. Isn’t guild hall suppose to be an open area? If you want to restrict players from going somewhere, put proper walls/columns/doors or whatever. Using invisible wall is like the lazy way of doing it and also restrictive to free creation. I guess some players don’t really mind, but for those that explore every inch of their guild hall, I believe it would be a nice change.
Second, could we perhaps get the ability to place decorations straight in the air? Since it’s technically possible already anyway, it would certainly make things easier not having to build some odd towers at first and then carefully removing items from below. I imagine that having floating chairs and statuses is weird, but wasn’t your goal to give us free hands in decorating our halls? The reason why this would be great is basically explained in the title and in the following video. (Also, surrealism is a thing)

In addition, I’d like to call all of the players out there to share your/your guildie’s/your friends creations! I know there are more custom JPs out there – small or big, easy or hard, show your creativeness and maybe we can get Anet to make better tools for us. The concept of building JPs has a lot of potential in my opinion and is a nice pace change to the gameplay, offering a completely new mechanic. I only hope we get to use even more decorations – new shapes, sizes, objects, items etc… animals? We already have skritts we can kick – why not make a skritt roll like a ball and voila – we have a ball game. Or a quaggan, because they are more round-shaped. We shall call it Quagganball. . Ideally some great custom events could be hosted like this. Just throwing ideas.

Oh right, could we please get cheaper decorations please? The prices are quite ridiculous right now.
This might go to deaf ears, because the devs are busy fixing PvP and other various mechanics in the game (hope dies last!), but at least it’s worth a shot and maybe even gets added to the “we will consider it” list.

Really? I lost a few games while being outnumbered in the beginning of the season and I didn’t loose any pips then (no, I wasn’t amber anymore). I thought you at least got this one right. Did you guys break it? Or I just got lucky to not loose pips for unbalanced match?
I’m flattered that Anet considers me and possibly my fellow random teammates world class players that we are supposed to win even while being outnumbered, but the sad fact here is that I’m not and neither are my teammates (probably). So it’s rather unfair to loose pips in a game that is basically done the moment someone disconnects and doesn’t return. That doesn’t seem to be Anet’s opinion though. Anyone else or am I alone here?

Oh, I just remembered. I once had a game where one of random teammates disconnected seconds before the match started. He/she didn’t return until the game was about to end, so only like 10-15 seconds. Lost 2 pips.

No API support for Free Accounts?

So I was testing out the API for the system I’m planning to develop and noticed that whenever I tried to query info about a free account, it just gives me {"text":"ErrInternal"}. “GuildWars2” and “HeartOfThorns” type accounts seem to work fine, but free accounts give this error. Is this intended? Or known bug?
What I’m trying to do is the basic /v2/account.

Colin, do you think you guys can add the option for guilds to only run pve+pvp, pve+wvw, or pvp+wvw missions instead of having just having the options for one type or all three? I think only having a 5% favor bonus would be fine.

My guild focuses on pve and spvp, but we are cross server so we have the problem where we either do only pve or we do the mix, but not everyone can join us for wvw.

This. It would be really great if we could set a smaller pool for random picking, because I imagine a lot of guilds now are cross-server, so WvW missions are a bit trickier to complete unlike PvE and PvP tasks.

This post is far too big to read everything that’s been written here, but the first page and the last one here sum it up pretty well I believe.
I really liked SAB when it was available. I was still new to this game back when it was last available and me and my friends stayed up all night ’til 5AM playing SAB. It was hilarious.

I absolutely feel for the people here that are disappointed in not seeing SAB return. I don’t have the energy to talk about it here, but I admire the ones that do, because talking and making a note when something is a problem is a way to get something fixed. Just staying quiet won’t change anything, so big bow to you guys!

There is, however, one thing I must say in Arena Net’s defense and it’s that they are most likely understaffed. Severely.
If you’d take a look here http://www.arena.net/ and check “Careers”, you can see what positions they are hiring and they have been doing so non-stop for quite a long time. Just look at the list: “General Programmer”, “Game Play Programmer”, “GAME CONTENT PROGRAMMER”. I can’t claim I know exactly what’s going on in their offices, but I believe if they had enough people, they’d assign some to manage other aspects of the game, such as SAB. It’s just that they have to make do with the little they have and prioritize and currently #1 in their task list is Heart of Thorns.

I’d apply myself, unfortunately I don’t qualify – I lack the experience. But I bet there are at least some who would or some that know someone who would. So why not go for it and make content for the game you love.

EDIT: Ehm, no, the point of this post wasn’t to advertise job in Anet. Main point was that they seem to lack people to do everything that’s needed. Applying was just a suggestion

As one of the Event Coordinators in GW2Community, I totally support and agree with the issues raised in this thread. This schedule in it’s current form is undeniably restrictive and has a bad influence on communities such as us. Something needs to be done and better sooner than later.
