People failing to react to Search&Rescue. This triggers me so much. How hard can it be to be conscious of the enemy team having a Ranger in a Teamfight and being ready to cleave him as soon as you down someone? 90% of the time the Ranger doesn’t even have to be behind an obstacle, it’s enough to just use the skill on the other side of the node and people go ‘huh? how did he disappear?’

My normal ping is about 50. Just entered a PvP Match and as soon as the fight started it spiked to 4000 and didnt go below 1000 for the whole match. Of course it was an obvious loss. After the match everything is back to normal.

So suddenly for like 3 days I’ve been having a ping of 800 for about 1-2 minutes after each loading screen (even after respawning in pvp). Has this something to do with the game (maybe the 64bit client) or this a problem on my end?

Just came here to state again how much of a QoL change it was if we could get a small UI window to select Grandmaster Dodges if we are OoC. Doesn’t even need to be keybound. Clicking it with the mouse would be fine.

When you first enter a map and upon waypointing your Daredevil dodge will not display its intended animation, but the normal dodge animation + the effect of the grandmaster. You can fix this by switching to another dodge and back, but the bug appears to come back randomly and upon waypointing (even on the same map).

So I just completed the story. I feel quite empty right now. Not the empty as in ‘wow that was so epic and life-filling, that I don’t know what to do now’ (don’t missunderstand me the bossfight etc. was quite epic, but…) More like in ’that’s it?‘.
The story felt rushed. We barely had any interaction with the Exalted. What did they do for us in the epic battle against Mordremoth? They took the egg and that’s it.. I know there’s probably more to come, but meh. Within 4 chapters we rush to the Moredremoth, find it, instantly come up with an idea to kill it, do it, done. Great. And afterwards? I have no problem with cliffhangers, but we got seriously nothing at all. That cutscene was so unsatisfying. I know many people will be happy that Trahearne died blah blah, but whatever. The dragon energy went into the egg it seems, that’s it.

I really had hoped that after defeating Mordremoth and seeing the cutscene there was a secret ending. I went into the room with egg, nothing. ‘kitten’ I thought. Don’t get me wrong it was fun and all, but it all felt so unsubstantial.

Notes on the final fight. It was really fun and decently challenging. The surprise with your former orderpartner was amazing. The music was amazing and so fitting.
In the gliding phase it could happen that the winds didn’t throw you up in the air, just like the mushrooms bug out sometimes. Yeah it could get quite frustrating. After I figured out how to ‘dodge’ the rubble he threw, it was basically a save thing, maybe the 3rd or 4th gliding mastery where you can stop midair could be helpful here, but it worked. AAAAnd I dont know if its intended or a bug, but Mordremoths phases dont reset when you die and start again, meaning he’s using all his abilities from the start.

Well. What’s your opinion people?

Is Power D/D Now Obsolete In PVE?

Yes, Staff > everything else for Power DPS in PvE now.

Remove Trickery for Daredevil – you swap out the 10-15% average damage modifier for a 7%, a 10% and another 10% that’s up a majority of the time (4s after a dodge roll). Keep Bound going periodically for that bonus damage (plus it hits as hard as Cloak and Dagger) and use all your initiative on Weakening Charge (that hits harder than a <25% Heartseeker) or Vault if you need another evade for some reason and even that hits harder than Backstab. Fill it out with an autoattack chain or two (that are faster than Dagger and hit about 10% harder than Sword, becoming our highest DPS autoattack) that applies a good amount of Vulnerability, allowing you to remove Sundering Strikes and take Practised Tolerance for even more Ferocity (moreso in raids than Fractals/Dungeons because 10 people is so easy to get 25 Vuln). And remember that this damage is all AoE on 3-5 targets, opposed to Dagger’s maximum of 2 during autos, 1 most of the time.

So overall, you lose the 3 extra base initiative, and a Steal Daze/initiative gain, plus some group Vigor. In exchange, you get an enormous DPS boost, a huge increase in self-survivability from all the endurance and evade frames, large amounts of Weakness uptime and steady Vulnerability application with good duration.

Need to switch revealed training for panic strike right?

You can ‘exploit’ shadow refuge to get the revealed training buff. even more than ever since you don’t need stealth in your rotation. You will probably still take the two signets + SR. It’ll also be interesting to see whether fist flurry is a potential DPS increase now (f.e. while initiative downtime).

Weakening Charge + Steal is insane burst. Stealing will guarantee that all 3 attacks of Weakening Charge hit. Debilitating Arc is beautiful to kill people that are chasing you. Vaulting downed bodies that are being ressed is fun.

Overall I’d say amazing dmg, kittenty utility.

I don’t really see not having a gap closer as a problem, considering you have other weapons and skills for that.

I also don’t think staff should have a smoke field due to it being a non-stealth weapon/playstyle.

I’m inclined to agree with you. Everyone plays d/p, so they think that a weapon without easy access to stealth is useless. The sheer mobility of the staff makes it much easier to avoid damage as long as you play well.
I think that the staff is in a decent place. The only thing is the #4, which will probably be used just as much as dagger #4 and pistol #2, i.e. almost never. Why spend time and initiative using it when there are so many better options?

Would you pick Staff over S/D, though? Weakening Charge and Vault lock you into animations without Evade Frames nor the ability to interrupt them by dodging.
Since we didn’t get a new class mechanic that synergizes well with our new weapon, we have to compare Staff to S/D – and we all now that S/D with proper traits is sick.

Edit: A big plus for Staff would be the combination of Staff Master and Escapist’s Absolution. The latter is just too good to not be taken, but Staff Master is amazing, too. imo

To me dust strike will never get the field component, but it is pretty useless now, since it does few damage and it’s easy to avoid.
I think it should be changed into “Dust Charge”: thief become a bolt of dust (same animation of druid – the blue healing ball) that travels to a location blinding foes he passes by and dealing AoE damage and blind when he lands.

Basically it’s the same skill of the druid but instead of healing + healing splash it does blind+blind splash and dmg.

Which would also solve the gap closer problem, while not being too similar to s/x or d/p gap closers. Very good and reasonable Idea.

Hello.
Now that we have (probably) fixed the dodges, I hope we can focus on making the staff viable.

I know people don’t like the animations, because they are recycled and not what they’ve imagined. But let’s face it:

Bad animations, but a strong weapon > good animations, but a weak weapon.
(This will be mostly from a PvP PoV)

  1. AA-Chain: Damage got already increased + Projectile Reflect (not a fan of this because it’s unreliable) Still good Stuff.
  2. Weakening Charge: Upped the number of Targets, made it targetted, some animation/distance clean-up. Good stuff so far.
  3. Debilitating Arc: On demand dodge, good damage, maybe a bit clunky. Clunkiness will probably be fixed, as for all the skills and dodges.
  4. Dust Strike: Useless. Make it a ‘Ring of Fire’-like Smoke Field. Maybe bit smaller radius. That way you have actual access to stealth to use your Stealth attack and chain into a damage combo.
  5. Vault: Good damage. Easy to dodge. Not a proper gap closer. Intitiative cost lowered to 5. Discussion about keeping initiative cost at 6 and adding dodge frames? Maybe not bad for weapon that shall keep you in a fight and make you a brawler.

That all being said – even a brawler needs a way to get onto his targets (apart from steal)
We really need a proper gap closer.

Two suggestions (maybe also helping with the animation style a bit):

1. Remove Weakening Charge’s (#2) travel distance. Increase the radius for target’kitten. Lower the damage. Add some more damage to the AA-Chain. Add a Shadow Step to Weakening Charge. (900 – 1200 Range)

2.1 Remove the 3rd AA-Skill (the whirl). Make Weakening Charge the 3rd AA-Skill. Twitch the numbers of the damage and the applied weakness a bit. (Maybe lower the initial AA-Skills’ damage a bit and keep Weakening Charge as it is/will be [Adds some play to handle the distance to your target for high pay-off]).

2.2 Add another #2 Skill. Take the Style of the Human Heartseeker Animation. Add a staff to it of course. Increase the Range to 900 – 1200. Make it an actual Jump (Like Warrior Sword #2). Low damage. Maybe cripple? Maybe nothing else.

Today i came here to drop some of my thoughts and talk about what i think. Since I have a pretty rational look at the story, I guess I’m going to keep it short, but maybe it won’t happen.

The Pale Tree being a Dragon minion? I seriously doubt that. While we have Malyck and stuff, it just seems to be a too obvious theory. The whole thing is based on the thought of both, the Pale Tree and Mordremoth, being connected to plants. There definitely is a connection, but not such a simple one.

I want to connect 2 of my thoughts, regarding this connection

1. My guess is that the Dream is protecting the Sylvari from the influence of the EDs, maybe just Mordremoth’s influence.

2. What Scarlet saw was, imo definitely, Mordremoth.
Here i want to refer to the follow line in Scarlet’s Journal.
“I’m trying not to sleep—too scareD to even close my eyes… So scared. Whispers come from the forest all night long, calling me, taunting me, possessing me. "
Whoelse’s whisper should come from the forest.

“Tonight, I saw it. I stared into the abyss, anD it stared back at me. So much power. I don’t know what’s real and what isn’t anymore.” The Dragon staring back at her, makes him seem a like a smarter boy for me than Zhaitan. Scarlet, who abandoned the Dream, is free for his reach. He senses Sylvari, who are broken and confused, with what they want. Remember, that Scarlet knows a secret about Caithe? Did Mordremoth also reach out at Caithe, in her weakest moment, when her beloved Faolein poisoned her and Caithe was under brutal emotional pressure? Were the Dream strong enough to protect all Firstborn back then? Maybe Mordremoth wanted to ‘attack’ immediately, by influencing the Firstborn, who where comepletely new to the world. All of them might share this secret. That’s what also the Pale Tree knows and why it warns Ceara. And here i come with something, nobody really thought about until now i guess. Everytime we think about Caithe, we also think about Faolein. She is the immensely seducing leader of the nightmare court an. What about Cadeyrn, the creator of the Nightmare Court. He didn’t accept Ventari’s Tablet, he wanted to be free, just like Ceara. Did Faolein and Cadeyrn establish the Nightmare Court in order to build minions for Mordremoth? Do the Courtiers even know about being abused? I know i might ask many questions, but I guess they are worth it to think about.

Mordremoth is a Dragon, who doesn’t only rely on his minions. He is searching for far more powerful companions. What would be more suitable, than the Sylvari. Most of them are so naive.. new to the world. Then of course we have Malyck. We know, he didn’t dream, and we know, that he wasn’t born from our Pale Tree. But what if he’s special? He still was born within our accessible territory. Did Mordremoth simply ignore him? Does he have more Sylvari within his very surroundings, who are much easier to seduce?

You know I really, really like the idea of Sylvari being Tyria’s own defense system and antibodies against the Dragons. They can’t be influenced by Dragon Corruption, but maybe by mind tricks? Maybe the Sylvari were the Sixth Ancient Race to fight the EDs. Maybe Mordremoth knows/remembers them, trying to manipulate them this time by creeping into their minds, like a virus.

I know that I’m texting very very much intelligence into Mordremoth, but let’s think about Zhaitan being the Vigil, with fleets, trebuchets and massive armees. Then Mordremoth could be the Order of Whispers… sneeking into the lines of his enemies, without them even noticing.. collecting information via seemingly unrelated Minions, who are pretending to be the biggest danger, which Tyria has right now. Zhaitan attacked LA all out on his own, with his army.. and failed. Mordremoth might have been a smarter boy…

noticed the same. especially the glowing part seems to be brighter now.. even my midnight ice which was really blackish before in the glow part, ‘shines’ in a dull dark blue now. also my dark glacial petrol seems to have lost its shades and stuff on the non-glowing part..

The complaints about the pets that make them “not viable” are:

  • They die too quickly / easily
  • They are stuck where they can’t attack

The first one could be made viable this patch depending on how much Ranger pets’ stats were increased and how much the improved AI helps in dungeons.

The second one could be fixed with improved methods for allowing pets to move to/from their Ranger and their target.

What am I missing here that can’t be fixed and makes the pet “not viable”.

A simple method might be to just have passive mode be a different pet with skills aimed for different things. For example:

Spiders
-active = what they do now and attack your target unless called back.
-passive = they stay by you unless you send them out, F2 is replaced by a version that applies their effects (the poison, weakness, etc) to a nearby ally but prioritizing the master unless out of range.

Cats:
-active = what they do now…etc.
-passive = when not attacking, they pulse fury and their F2 will buff a nearby teammate so their next 3 attacks are auto-crits.

Drakes:
-active = same
-passive = when beside you, they occasionally take a hit for you. Their F2 is some kind of armor buff so attacks have a chance of glancing off you.

More a means of giving you something to do with the pet at all times even if they died.

mh i actually do like this idea. it might be a good hybrid between the ranger now and my idea. also it would keep the idea of the pet, that walks next to you alive. very nice, actually.^^

as already written it needs polishing and nerfing w/e.
don’t compare it to other classes and be like ‘oh that would be so OP, unfair, mimimi’
it’s more about to come up with an acceptable alternative/better way to play the class and not to create something that smashes and stomps everything away. if i wanted that i would have said ‘yeah for F1 we use the jaguar skill -> stealth ourselfs for 6sec and attack with 100% crit while that’

fine i accept that people like it the way it is.. beastmasterish..
of course i like the ranger too. i wouldnt think about ways to improve it, if i didn’t.
but the class mechanic just isn’t viable in some situations.. imo..
of course we can have fun with our pets and in normal pve it’s no problem. lvling the ranger and doing some events is very nice with ranger and his pet. but in terms of getting competitive, the pet just lacks the intelligence to deal with some situations.

but i don’t see the whole pet thing working in a dungeon..
even if they improve their toughness and survivability, there will be a time when they die in a boss fight and then we lose huge amounts of dps, which really really sucks.

Hey guys,
I just want to share my opinion how amazing(imo) the Ranger could have been.
I’m not posting this into ‘Suggestions’, because the devs won’t care about such more or less drastic profession changes anyways.
So let’s start.

Lore
In the past years the Ranger adapted more and more to the nature. He learned to communicate with the spirits of nature, be it animals or elements. That way he came to the point, where could not only tame the physical shell of an animal, but his spirit to unleash powerful, unrestricted attacks to his enemies…

Class Mechanic

  • The Ranger himself has 100% dmg (not 50% Ranger, 50% Pet like it is now, i dunno the exact numbers)
  • No active pet, but 2-4 slots on the F1-F4 keys
  • Keep taming pets (their spirits) in the open world AND their F2 skills
  • Ranger can use the skills freely in combat by pressing the key
  • Now a ghostly form of the animal will appear and execute the skill
  • On the F1-F4 keys there can be only 1 skill per animal category

Example

  • F1 Feline – (Jungle Stalker) 5 Might Stacks (maybe nerf it to 3 for balance)
  • F2 Bird – (Raven) Heavy Hit on high cd
  • F3 Bears – (Brown Bear) Shake it off
  • F4 Canine – (Wolf) Fear on high cd

Notes

  • Maybe a bit OP.
  • Maybe nerf the F2 skills. Give them casttime, being interrupted, when interrupting the Ranger.
  • Maybe only 2 or 3 “F-Slots”
  • Pet-bound traits could be decreased, actually useful traits could be created

Of course this needs polishing, but i feel like Ranger would be so much more useful, that way. Right now we are relying on something, that just doesn’t fit into this game.
You can’t make a whole profession dependant on a pet, which can’t dodge, move in safety, think for strategies. This game is SO player-skill based. You can’t make such an intelligent AI, that it comes up for that.
That’s just my opinion, but i guess it’s pretty reasonable.
Anyways. Tell me how you like my idea.

The smallest body option for a norn (not the size but from the whole body section) is a joke. Just look at the legs + feet. Super slim legs combined with ‘big foot’ feet. It looks really really crappy. i’m 100% sure even if there are people, who chose this option they wont complain about a change at the legs and feet.

I hope someone can show us a screen of this issue, since i didnt want to delete a char for this. (if i remember correctly it’s only this extreme with an armor, not naked)

my Male Sylvari is a good example for some design’ish and bug’ish issues we have.

i want you to ask: do you call this a glow?.. nearly no color, but celestial and illumination, do wrk as an intense glowing color on sylvari armor.. why didn’t you just copy the glow of sylvari bodies (or eyes as in my example) and used it for sylvari armor?

i’m posting it the third time now. it exists and is known since the first beta. i dont see it as a minor issue, since we have to pay 20g for a bugged item, which would be really nice if fixed. Sylvari T3 heavy cultural armor gloves ‘Oaken Gloves’ are totally bugged. Same goes for T2 medium gloves. the extremities of the item, which are longer then your underarm bend like your elbow with every slightest move. please already fix this already.

@phenomen: a level 35 cal also heal, deal damage and use support so hes proberly doing the same tho in a less degree as the scalling with a level 80 to level 35 is to strong compared to a 35 tho that dont mean he cant do the same thing.

and as far as i know there is no need to tank if you use the consept of someone taking all the damage and others dealing the damage and healing the tank.
and if he dodges red circles he can deal damage to when he dont need to dodge;)

i don’t care about the difficulty of the dungeon. i’m sure i could do this. what i care about is that now the most difficult part is to find a group with lv35. people only looking for lv80, only caring about the lv, because of their own incompetence. you literally get mobbed out of this dungeon, because of your lv… my lv35 char can dodge as good as a lv80 char and that’s all i need in order not to die, no? i really would like to take on the challenge of this new harder AC, but yeah no1 will take my low lv char with them. :o

here’s the thing:
you could categorize the color effect in 4 not only 3 different materials:
light, medium, heavy as we know it AND Sylvari plants. so on all cultural sylvari stuff especially celestial looks immensly pure white (nearly ignoring whether it’s day or night). your picture is a wonderful example, how your normal (medium in this case) cloth behave in darkness (getting darker). remember that even the TA gear behaves like normal gear and not like sylvari gear. so it’s not a matter of dye but of material.

- fix the problem with the sylvari cultural gloves (t3 heavy, t2 medium f.e.) if there are extremities on gloves they bend and bow like your ellbow, which looks so stupid (also the problem is known and posted since beta… nothings done yet? seriously? shouldnt be that hard..)

- finally give us name change (will award you more money than stupid backpacks ;o)

yeah i didn’t really think too intensivley about the amount of the rewards.
i thought since people wanted a 1on1 pvp it was good idea to combine with the idea.
maybe rewards could scale with the number of people fighting (time needed for a match) or make the match a ‘win 2 out of 3’.

Anyways with more people it would get more variety and it would also be a Death Match Mode, which a lot of people seem to miss. so yeah, good point there^^

The Dojo-Mode

Challenging:
Create an NPC (one in Lion’s Arch and one in Heart of the Mists), where you can register your guild. Now every guild, which has been registered can be challenged – challenged to a 1 on 1 PvP Match. The challenging guild will have to appoint their member, who is going to fight. The challenged guild will see the profession and the PvP rank of the challenger. Now they can either deny the challenge or accept it and appoint their member, who is going to fight.

Place to fight:
The ‘Temple’ from the PvP map ‘Temple of the Silent Storm’ (or create a new small room, but i think it fights right well)

Rewards:
The Winner will choose between the following 3 Reward-Packages:
- PvP-Reward: 1000 Glory, 10 Arcane Orbs, 5 Arcane Crystals, 2 Arcane Slivers
- PvE-Reward: 3 Gold, 3000 Karma, 1 Laurel
- Guild-Reward: 2500 Influence, 5 Guild Merits

I think it would be a nice way to:
- connect PvP and PvE
- get Laurels a bit faster since for the newest Ascended stuff you need like 40
- give even small guilds a chance to do Guild Missions

Hello Community,
as you can see in the topic title i want to write about 3 things.
i’m doing it because i happen to come up with things, which i’d love to see in GW2, but think they’d never happen… so it’s more like sharing my ideas with you in the community than suggesting something (because it would be really awkward if ANet would take one of your ideas ingame right? ;o)

so here we go^^

1. Armor of the Six
Yes i guess you know what i want to see..
The human cultural armor looks good yes, but compared to the other races (especially t3 stuff) it’s average… and boring just as the humans (yay make boring things more boring)
so IF (what i hope) the races get more cultural stuff here is the plan for humans

Light:
Armor of the Six – Dwayna
Armor of the Six – Lyssa

Medium:
Armor of the Six – Melandru
Armor of the Six – Grenth

Heavy:
Armor of the Six – Kormir
Armor of the Six – Balthasar

i mean.. what’s the problem? We have amazing looking gods and even concepts of an armor design (remember the derwish’s avatars from GW1?)
so why not make amazing armor sets inspired by the six gods?
maybe with SOME particle effects like fire for balthasar or ice for grenth..
so yeah, how would you like that idea?

2. Ranger Greatsword
As amazing as i think a medium class with a greatsword is… but why, really why should i use a greatsword on a ranger right now?
i know it has been discussed very often and i know ‘it shall be a defensive weapon!’, ‘learn to play, it’s not all about dmg’ and ‘learn to use your pet for dmg’, but hey isn’t the GS something that should provide dmg?.. imo it was just simply overnerfed after the beta… but yeah i could talk all the day about how unsatisfied i am with the GS on ranger… here is the idea:

one or more new utilites for the ranger. their function?
Seal of the Greastsword x,y,z
Passive: Opening Strikes burn your foe (idk think about something better xD)
Active: Set free the Spirit of your pet and let it merge with the Greatsword.
-> Pet vanishes, GS gains buffs
for example Seal x improves the base dmg, Seal y adds some conditions to some attacks, Seal z adds healing to 1 or 2 skills
only one seal can be active at the time
and maybe Seal x would be enough, to not let the GS be capable of everyhting xD
but that idea will just stay in my imagination, cant imagine ANet implementing it :/

3. Particle Effects
yeah the last point is a trap sorry, it’s just a request to increase some particle effects like the ones of the Destroyer weapons .. i like the concept of those but a bit more ‘heat’ coming from them would be nice.. to match the corrupted stuff xD
or maybe some effects to t3 cultural weapons for the sake of not looking like a average weapon skin

yeah that’s it.. remember that this is my opinion and you can have your own and share it, but no hard feelings, kay?

good armor glowing dye

hey my sylvari friends
can anybody suggest a good green dye, which really glows intensively on the glowing armor parts? i’m currently running the normal green dye, but i hope there is a better one… the only dyes i know which glow intensively are celestial and illuminate… hope there are others :/

i have seen it on other characters too and it looks really strange and i hope it’s not supposed to look like that…
