Look in LFG. TTS does it all the time. I think I have failed one wurm kill with them. I have all the achievements from running with them and it is almost a guarantee you will kill all three wurms with them everytime. They are very good at organizing it.

Player Housing? anytime soon?

One of the issues with player housing I have experianced in other games that have it , is what to do with the houses when the player leaves the game.
You can easily end up with the equivalent of deserted cities full of abandoned houses.
MMO companies are reluctant to take someones house for the same reasons that they dont delete your characters even if you havnt played for many years.

In Lord of the Rings online you get kicked out of your house if you don’t pay the rent. All your stuff put in escrow. In Ultima Online your house would decay in 30 days, if you don’t refresh it. After 30 days its drops and all your stuff it up for grabs by other players.

I would love to see real housing in GW2 but like another poster said. This staff can’t even get out the legendaries that were promised with the expansion eight months ago, and just released the third wing to the raid. Most expansions are on there second or third raid after eight months.

But you know, who knows. What most MMO companies consider a priority in an expansion. Like lots zones, dungeons to play, full complete raids, fulfilling on promises made, following up the expansion content after release. ANET decides lets fix a 3 year old world boss. The direction of this company is completely schizophrenic. If they spent the next year on a quest chain to get tin foil hats I wouldn’t be the slightest surprised.

I leveled two characters from 1 to 80 using crafting. A free level 80 doesn’t mean anything. If your complaining about this you should add tomes of knowledge on there too. I can level two level 80’s and so can just about everyone else that play regularly.

GW2 seems to do a a lot thing that is new or just not found in other MMO’s. A lot of idea’s WoW has directly ripped off. Even the Sylvari are in WoW. So you would think that GW2 dungeons would be very unique. For the most part when looking at what they did in the Fractals they are, and they had a good idea with content like that. However Anet has released as much dungeon content in 3 years as Blizzard has released in one patch. Forsaken Thicket is as dry and normal as raids get, and does not have the GW2 uniqueness going for it.

Anet is clearly putting a lot of work in to this raid, for a very small portion of the player base while everyone else just sits around and waits for content. Raids are honestly the wrong direction for this game and I don’t know what Anet was thinking. In fact this company is a little schizophrenic. The direction these guys take there game every 6-12 months seem to change.

Bottom line, they should of made competitive 5 man dungeons, that are made up of all they learned in the past 3 years on how make dungeon good, unlike there 8 they released at launch. What is wrong with releasing steady content. A new map to explore, with a dungeon attached to it. In fact Anet’s constant change of idea’s and often choosing the bad ones over the good ones has affected the success of this game.

Why charrs are ignored?

Look at Arah medium gear on a char then a sylvari and asura. I can’t believe how bad is looks on a charr, even the resolution seems different.

This game needs competitive PvE content. It has a great combat system and its PvE content is really bad. Just about every dungeon can be facerolled through in 20 mins skipping content or not, (fractals don’t count cause anyone that ran it up to Fractals 20+ is a gerbil on wheel). I think they should of made Path 3 in every dungeon 2 hours plus with addition rewards. I like Arah path 4 alot despite Dwayna. However there is alot in that path and this game that makes you say “how is this still like this after 9 months”.

I’m not saying this game needs raids i’m just saying at this point MMO’s like GW2 should be producing the best boss and dungeon encounters ever made in video games.

We see temporay content every month with half the new items posted for sale in the gem store. Molten Facility which featured a really good end fight had nothing in it except a small chance for a back piece or a pet. In a real MMO the fused weapon would of been in there.

Legendary weapons are made more for people that want to chase something but you can buy the mats and or buy the weapon straight up on the trading post (trade gems for gold).

This game has so much more potential. I know everyone is sick of hearing about WoW myself included and I know everyone always says “we need raids” but the truth is WoW made memorable fights and content.

The temp content we saw in the past month for southsun can be done in an hour. There is some stuff they do really will and keeps people playing like SAB, Fractals, but alot of this temp content I hate to say is crap or at least the flame and frost stuff is. People want more to do and instead of building onto the game there just releasing temp content so if you leave and come back in 2 years everything is the same.

Bottom line if they just filled the game with permanent content and good dungeons with reasons to play through them multiple times instead of this novelty crap people would be happy. They had a decent idea with Fractals but the difficulty should of only had 3 setting, normal, hard and ninja gaiden. Then add more fractals later.

Saying raids and gear grind is not constructive and is not for GW2 but there is other ways to keep people busy as we saw with SAB. Unfortunately for such a creative industry there doesn’t seem to be much creativity. I have to mention SWTOR. That game bombed so bad you can see the crater from space.

Most this games new content unfortunately does seem to be about gems.

Race Change

Why can’t people just forget about racechange? It likely wont happen, due to various complications. I don’t really see the point… make a new character… not like it takes that long to level up and regain what you had on another.

I would love a race change. I like the medium Arah gear and like most armour sets on a Charr it looks terrible. It even looks like the resolution is off from other races. I have two fused daggers which you pretty much can’t get anymore, Wintersbark, 4 accended items and 2 full dungeon sets from CoE and HotW. So rerolling is not really a smart option for everyone.

When I rolled the toon I thought "ya Pyre is awesome of course i’m rolling a Charr’ . However if there was a large flashing disclaimer in the character screen saying “Warning your toon will look terrible in everything but 2 gear sets in the whole game”, will I might of rolled something else.

On my Sylvari and Asura I can’t beleive how good some stuff looks compared to the Charr. It’s yes that bad. Heavy isn’t to bad looking on a Charr but everything is.

This is hilarious. Wait till the last, very last second. I got my title on the 4th. They said the 30th. You have no one to blame but yourself. People that wait till the last seond to do things in life fail.

…except that this is a video game where not everyone can prioritize something like this as high as you can.

And I’m pretty sure your ability to grind out all the achievements from SAB in 4 days doesn’t make you any more prepared for life. The people with full lives that consist of full time jobs/kids/college/all of that together/etc. that have very limited play time, I’m sure are getting through life just fine.

My point is these forums are full of “I’m going to blame Arenanet” posts. They laid out the time rather clear. Maybe not down to the minute, but this post shouldn’t exist.

For the people that just didn’t have time cause of work or whatever I do understand, but this has been scheduled since the day SAB was released. We all knew the 30th was the day.

I understand being disappointed but people need to start taking some personal accountability and stop acting like children.

Why no mounts?

Anyone here who played SWTOR may remember how rediculas is looked seeing people in hover cars driving around a space station. Its like seeing someone in a car in a mall.

Anyways there is at least 30 things this game needs to do before they are to add something that every mindless WoW clone MMO has.

The design of waypoints is so mounts are not needed no doubt because the first game had a similar system that worked just fine.

If they added mounts that work just like WoW at that point there moving backwards instead of forward, and I say WoW because lets face it. It’s the WoW people that are requesting this.

The damand for mounts is not much different then the damand to add the holy trinity into GW2. It’s a small handful of people that just can’t move on to new things.

Console games are completely different from what was available 5-7 year previously. They evolve in both the idea’s used in them and how the game is played.

Yet PC games barely change and MMO’s haven’t change really in 10 years. There is a reason why most retailers barely even have PC games from sale, and most PC games now are some form of free to play model. Move on people your killing this genre.

need advice vs thief underwater

I play thief pretty much as my only charater. While I see alot of these threads about scrubs winning about stealth and there lack of understand on what to do. I have not seen someone mention spear evade.

Our 3 and 5 buttons on spear are completly broken in PvP and makes a thief unkillable. I have seen 3 people on top of a thief trying to kill him and can’t even move his life bar. I don’t use it in PvP. Its unfair and one of the many reasons I don’t take PvP serious in Guild Wars 2.

Your best options are not to malee but to just range him. Eventually he might run out of initiative if you do malee but its best just to let him him run away. Its a game flaw.

This might help, its an old thread about the same topic.

I think Raids could actually work for GW2.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Blixxis.6798

The suggestion of raids is a very uncreative solution to the lack of epic PvE content. Just as criticizing the lack of the trinity in the game. The trinity is a crutch in MMO’s that has been used to death and desperately needs to be retired. This genre in general was growing very stale about 5 years ago.

I like alot of Arenanets idea’s they use in GW2 but simular to GW1 alot of idea’s just are not implemented will.

Just a suggestion off the top of my head. Five man dungeons that involve one epic boss fight with a boss the size of the current dragons or bigger and included checkpoints that save your progress from one phase to another. Remember Chronos in God of War 3. Something like that. Notice the lack of tanks and healers. Shadow of the Colossus is another game thats good to emulate for epic boss fights.

The fight could run for 40 mins with 10 phases that include the boss fight, add fights and just plain navagation around the area but is all focased on this one guy your fighting.

My point of this is an MMORPG should provide the most EPIC PvE content in video games and what get is extremely mundane. The boss fights in GW2 don’t even stack up against WoW and its fights from 5 years ago.

Though I do like Fractals alot and it is a more of what my expectations where when I bought GW2 . The MMO genre however is radically going to have to change its format if its going to survive in the future and raids and the holy trinity is not the answer. Just go check out SWTOR.

January monthly achievement, are you serious?

This took me and a few friends about an hour and 30 mins if that to get all 30. You don’t need to do the puzzels (though we were with some of them), you just have to get to the start of it. YOU ARE NOT EVEN FORCED TO DO IT. I’m sure thats already metioned several times in this thread but just in case.

But ya 1 hour and 30 mins for one quarter of the monthly done, pretty easy.

Arenanet shouldn’t have to pick and choose the content for the monthly based off of half the content in the game. And people shouldn’t be posting ridiculous threads about not wanting to play content that doesn’t have a carrot attached to it.

Its like playing a game that has 7 levels to it and because you can’t beat level seven you you say the end of the game should be level six. Its pathetic.

Arenanet didn’t put all this time into developing this content for people to not play it. Suck it up buttercup

I play a 30 crit, 30 shadow arts thief, “stealth thief”. I was in a tournament the other day facing against three other thieves at the same time. 1v3. Fighting them for a good two mins and killed one them and had the other two at half life before they killed me. By the time they did my team capped everything and came over finished what i started.

My point is they were not very good and I have done nothing in GW2 really but play a thief. Knowledge of the class you are fighting is everything in PvP. I use to get wreaked by Mesmers. Played one for alittle while I don’t anymore more.

What you need to do if your going to take PvP seriously is learn the classes and what there weaknesses are against the class you play. Until you do that your opnion is just complete ignorance.

So Do Existing customers get a free upgrade?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Blixxis.6798

As title says, received an email offering new purchases of the game the free upgrade to digital deluxe edition.

What about us the already paid, supporters of the game and people spending money in the gem store etc do we get a courtesy free upgrade to our existing accounts?

If the answer is no then yet another reason why to stop playing this game with the months recent track record. Maybe you should look at a game in a galaxy far far away that also lost all its customers for running the game like a sinking ship

So dramatic. The game has been out for nearly 3 months and released Halloween event and dropped a new patch with an amazing dungeon in it.

In WoW you get nothing for 6 months to a year. Diablo the fastest selling PC game of all time has had no new content and SWTOR is a 100% WoW clone like many games before it, and looked like it right from development years ago.

Guild Wars 2 is by far the best MMO released in the past 5 years. You bought the game, play it for free and you want free stuff that there offering to as a sale to new customers.

You tell me what sounds unreasonable. People that bought fallout 3 didn’t return it a year later when they released the game of the year edition and say I want that.

An upgrade would be nice but not necessary, grow up.

Cities like Ebonhawke with events/world boss.

Blixxis.6798

Imagine a city like Ebonhawke were a world boss lays siege to to the town and over the course of the 20 min fight many parts of the town are leveled and maybe more based off of what you do and how you approach the fight. Have the boss travel to different parts of the town randomly and players will need to react by closing gates, using burning oil over the gates, caterpults and various other things that people use to do in seiges.

A dragon boss would be iconic but not sure if it would work with the mechanics so well. Having him land on roof tops and coming down in the streets and climbing the gate would be one way of making them work.

After the fight there are several event chains to rebuild the city that do not involve combat. Once done the boss timer starts and you have 3 hours or so to do other objectives in the city.

The objectives could be anything and maybe something similar to the speedy reader achievement, mini games, jump puzzel or just other events that take you inside and outside of the city.

Something else I want to mention is how dull the new zone is without vistas, hearts, skill points and PoI. It’s great looking with nothing to do there. In Ebonhawke and the major towns it was alot of fun grabbing everything that first time around.

Side content that doesn’t involve combat is a nice break and with something like this you can provide that with the reward of the most epic fight in the game.

I have out survived every class in this game at some point or another and i often see people posting on the forums and in /map what they think they know about this class and it couldn’t be more ignorant.

it is very easy to build and spec to survive what u dont get is that when u “out-survived” everyone in your party often means that your dps contribution on target is the last..
We have to trade too much between surv and dps that’s all.

Does the amount I posted sound like it would be last. You are assuming far too much for a situation you were not there for. Being in stealth every 3 seconds can get you out of alot that people can not normally get out of.

In TA I was once cut off from the rest of the group from poison on the ground and the add I was targeting died quicker then the add the other 4 memebers were targeting.

Most of the thiefs survivability comes in using stealth right, knowing when to use range and yes specing in survivability traits. So what. if you look through the trait system you can see a natural synergy within dps and the toughness/vitality trait lines.

The specs in the game were not designed by players they were designed and planned by Anet and you can see this on how its laid out in the trait system.

Most of the dps lines have a survival counter part that compliments it and its not really a dps loss depending.

In my shadow arts line i take the stealth skills allowing me more initiative reg then normal allowing me to to backstab twice as much with 100% crit damage and 60% crit chance. This same line give me extra toughness and heals.

With shadow refuge a thief can easy rez 3 people downed in a fight and i have many times. Warriors, elementalists and all these other so called better classes. Thievies Empty Hand Weapon Skill

in Suggestions

Posted by: Blixxis.6798

Blixxis.6798

You should be able to swap out your 3 button skill for the empty hand skill that coincides with you main hand weapon. Just have the tab buttton above it like the utility skills do.

This is an example as to why this option would be nice . I’m full shadow arts and crit and and use stealth alot, the 3 button in d/d is not that spec at all. You should have more then 2 or 3 buttons to press when playing the game. I only use p/p for unload and headshot. With p/d i could have a unload like skill for dps but also have cloak and dagger with the gun for bleeding. Then both weapon swaps have more synergy within the build.

These empty hand skills are completly useless past level 5. Even though some of them are great no one really end up using them.

Players like customization and while the trait system is great, the weapon skills however can use some work.
