Nah, we weren’t attacking them upstairs. I wanted to secure the water gate and prevent it from getting closed cause AM was trying to do it. We didn’t push them upstairs, FSP pushed us below instead but they lost few ppl due to that. We did check the gate few times, so maybe that got them worried and made them panic. Even without that, AM would wipe them anyway, so my biggest concern was keeping that gate open.
Pushing through the breach in the wall was fun though.
Thanks for an awesome evening on AM border [TUP] & [RL] had some nice fights and enjoyed every single fight! [FAME] thanks for some nice blob fights. GG this evening on AM border my fellow FSP.

Is it possible to make that random roll at the beggining of the matchup, so sites like MoS can count it out and keep going with expected match ups?

Big thanks to DW for good fights yesterday on AG BL. Few nice clashes on the north camp. Even with all the pug when the fights were getting longer skill lag was fine, so it still was fun. Cheers.
Like ppl already said, those traps are not for 1v1’s or small scale group fights. It’s not even for fights in the open at all. Do you expect ppl responding to thief stealthing with “omg, he’s gone, lets STAND STILL FOR 4 SEC AND MAKE A TRAP.” and then you’re dead without even finishing it. It’s not a mechanism to counter thief stealth. If you will take thief out of stealth he will run away and go into stealth again = you wasted your trap and you got no more supply.
This is to counter huge groups using veil-push tactics. If you’re not playing in an organised group (and from OP post its clear he’s not) those traps won’t affect you at all.
Has anyone noticed if the person that causes the siege to disappear has the siege deployment blocked icon on them? The fix to prevent people from building siege in the starter areas causes people with the on them to destroy any siege they try and build, which seems like it might be the root cause here as I believe there are still some weird issues that can cause you to continue to have that on you, even outside the intended areas.
People can still build siege in front of their spawn at Borderlands in a place where they can’t be hit. We can kill that siege obviously with ranged attacks but is it intended?
Make AC hit 5 targets only.
I agree with Aneu. Keeps needs nerfs, not buffs. Right now nightcapping and fortyfing your keeps is more important than anything. We already had 3-4 hour long sieges, now without Swirling Winds and improved AC’s we are looking at even longer ones.
I don’t understand how could anyone feel the need for stronger defence in a T3 Hills with 1700 supply. As much as I understand that there are people that preffer siege defence then roaming, I don’t understand how this benefits any side. Defenders will have it easy so can’t see fun in that. Sure, it might be fun for an hour to sit at your AC mowing zergs down Rambo-style. But will it be fun after a month?
Attackers won’t waste their time to attack your keep. They will switch to weakest target on the map, look for the other group that is also bored. And you will be all alone with your AC’s. After you go to sleep nightcappers will come and take your empty keep.
Unless you’re the nightcappers then … well… have fun watching that gate.
DAWN is not a transfer guild, it’s a new guild freshly formed on AG.
I’m curious, how droping a tier will fix the situation? I don’t get it? Maybe you will loose some noobs, but you risk loosing guilds that are serious about the game and want to enjoy it. It will take you 2-3 weeks to drop. I find it hard to imagine WvW-focused guilds will be ok after that. Sure, they might have said so on your server meeting, but this can change in an instant…
This is really hilarious way of aproaching your problem. SFR always complained it is low on manpower. Now you finally got the manpower and you can’t handle it. Hilarious.
I think it’s possible to convince them to make that an option. We managed to change their mind when they wanted to reset rankings. With enough feedback from the community it’s possible they will reconsider.
OK so after testing out the new patch I came up with the list of rather simple small features that would improve WvW feel. Please keep posting them up and I will be refreshing the list with good stuff as we go. Also I’ll delete the bad stuff obviously. Culling is gone and I believe Anet will be happy to get players feedback.
- Option to turn off titles.
- WXP for more activities: building/destroying siege, repairing walls/gates, killing guards and NPCs(very small XP, like 1 or 2), escorting dollies, breaking the wall/gate
- refundable WXP
- WXP visible on UI while playing (similar to sPvP)
- Orbs with gold/karma buff
- Ascended items achievable via WvW
Please bare in mind I mostly think of simple stuff, that’s easy to implement.

Back in good days, we were promissed, that WvW players can play WvW only and still achieve same gear as PVE players. That we would not be missing out on anything. This was actually said even before the release – that WvW will be selfsustaining.
It wasn’t completely true, but there were few months that at least kept things real. You could level and get geared by simply playing WvW. With badges, karma.
Then came the Ascended items. WvW players were obviously angry and we were once again promised, that they will implement ways of getting Ascended items via WvW. I think it’s been 4 months ago or more. In the meantime PVE received more ways of obtaining those items via PVE, got new stats sets, got a ways to upgrade that gear. Gear that WvW player, that is waiting patiently, cannot obtain.
This is a big contradiction to what was promised time and time again. If they’re worried about the economy, it’s already busted. And every pve player that wanted to get their pink gear already got it. Only ones that don’t are WvWers.
This won’t change for this patch or they would be boasting about it. Just like they do with heralds for some reason. Because those recent patches all represent so little they have to hype up stupid stuff like TP preview, heralds, quagan backpacks and culling fix, that was a known bug since beta’s. Ask your top guilds on the server if they care about culling fix. They won’t. If they would, they would quit the game long time ago. By now they are already used to it, but what really kitten ess them off is skill lag.
At least they had the taste to not spout nonsense about ‘next month’ anymore. I appreciate that. Better not giving any hope then breaking it.

Soooo do they already know what exactly will be in that patch? Or nothing changed since December?
Cause we had posts with detailed information a month ahead with PvE and sPvP stuff, even something silly like TP items preview. But for WvW it’s mystery till the end? Are you once again afraid of announcing something you can’t promiss? Just so you know, pretty much was promissed already and most folks are running out of patience…
Amount of neccessery influence is obviously favouring big guilds. But that’s not the reason to blame developers for. They choose what kind of content they create and for whom is it avalaible. It’s your choice that you chose a playstyle that is hindering your possibilities of playing. And truth is, noone is forbiding anything to anyone. Small guilds will get there, but it will take them several months instead just a few. It’s fair. If you decided to play in a small guild don’t blame rest of the world for your choices.
This may be a surprise, but players really don’t like surprises. We preffer being omnipotent and know everything. When you keep implementing new stuff without letting us know what’s going to the stuff you told us you were working earlier we get frustrated. We want to know even if it’s going hard/bad/whatever. Noone will criticize you if you say that it proved to be much harder then you thought. That might even get more appreciations from our end, cause we will know that you put a lot of effort into new features working. As long as they will be important features and not something silly.
Keep in touch with your community. For the good or the bad. That’s what brought people to your game in the first place. Trust me, you will get more new players into the game from current players who would recommend the game to their friends and not from good marketing.
please note, that ANet said they will use new, unannounced formula from now on, so ranking on MoS site for next week may be innacurate
For quite a while we had a very leveled field. From time to time things would move around with communities falling and rising. But those would be a case of 1-2 matches per week while all other matchups were doing fine. In the end, servers that won’t deserve it would go down, servers that do would go up.
Reseting rankings will make it exactly the same. Field will level up. But it will take several weeks of completely messed up matchups. Unneccesery is the least I can call it.

It’s not just high pop servers. And it has NEVER been this bad, even on a reset night on a T1/T2 server. This is absolutely ridiculous that this hasn’t been addressed in the last couple of days…knowing they’d have an influx of more people now that wvwvw ratings have reset.
Don’t know which server you’re talking about friend, but on SFR it’s like this since 2 months. And it was a medium pop server, only recently it turned to high due to bandwaggon transfers. During the reset night you had one chance to get on your border. If you failed you could just go to sleep. Queue would be endless, 2 hours minimum. I can only imagine it getting worse on all top tier servers now.

Don’t worry about PvE – with guesting you can be a guest on any high populated PvE server and join it at any given time.
Don’t be afraid of PvDoors. Current EU T1 and T2 are full at night and our opponents have plenty of people to fight with. It won’t be a boring experience.
Seriously, which AOE’s are so OP they need a nerf? Seriously? Single target skills are weaker? Are you even playing this game? But please give actual examples instead of just rambling that they do.
Backstab, Heartseeker, 100Blades, Killshot, just to name a few skills from the top of my head right now, that could use some serious redesign or nerf.
I’m focusing purely on WvW aspect of the game ofcourse.
AOE’s in this game are the weakiest I have ever encountered in any mmo. At they are getting nerfed more and more ever since the release. Game is turning more and more into melee-fest, leaving barely any space for people who don’t want to roll a melee class.
There’s one golden rule – if something hits you hard, its either you or the guy hitting you that are glass cannons. And majority of low skilled players run glass cannons. It’s completely normal that they get a lot of damage. But at the same time they have very low HP. Why making game easier for people who can’t understand basic rules? Why those who are putting their time and effort into understanding their class are to suffer because some kids cry they get hit to much? You already implemented the worst possible nerf on AOE which is target limit. Something that makes absolutely no sence.
Don’t forget that most AOE classes are very squishy. Elementalist that you all so complain about? Ridiculously low HP. And if he’s on high HP build then for sure as hell he won’t hit you hard. D/D Ele to fast? Freaking slow/stun him, he can’t have more then 2-3 stun breakes. Stop expecting that one class is supposed to be winning every single 1v1, just because you want it like that. There are so many builds in this game that its plain ignorant to blame someone for loosing cause he just have a build that owns yours.
I can agree with one thing people are saying, if you indeed nerf AOE’s, then take down target limit completely. That I could maybe bear with.
Please stop making the game easier for bad players and make them instead think and find ways of how to improve. If their answer to the problem is crying on a forum, then they’re not worth listening to.

Don’t blame others for double teaming you, you screwed up the weekend and you’re the weakest and easiest target. While Deso and SFR have T3 keeps and towers, you had everything paper. It’s a no brainer which are easier to take and which will be made priority.
This week is a great example of what happens when French can’t sit in their fully upgraded keeps and spam siege. When they actually have to get out in the open and fight hard. They can’t. They fail.
Waypoints are currently the most powerful upgrade in the game but there are a few issues.
They are only inactive when the defense quest is active, are you guys planning on disabling them slightly longer than the defense quest to allow attackers to keep the defenders from spawning there just as the defense quest lapses?
For example under the current system I can count down on voip the defense quest and spawn in everyone right as it hits zero and before attackers can reflag the keep.
This is definitely a bug. I’ll see about leaving the rally points disabled for a few extra seconds after the event has completed. That way it just stays disabled if the event starts back up.

Not surprised at SFRs numbers they got a boost just before they started to climb of about 400 to 500 strong group of wvw peeps from Aurora Glade. And then you have another big group of wvw dedicated peeps from Far Shiver. Now look also where Gunnar’s Hold and Gandaras are now compared to before i bet some glory hounds jumped to both SFR and BT.
TBH only 2 guilds left playing from that AG alliance, with only around 50 WvW players.
It’s great to finally have a real fight, instead of being doubleteamed all the time. You’re great Deso, keep it up and stay strong.
VS – cause being ridiculous never gets boring.
They run in huge 50 ppl blobs, they have all maps full practically all the time and they still say they’re outmanned, they have worse coverage and less people then others in general.

I feel that blobbing is kinda state of the current game. When one side see the other one stacking up, they react with the same. If it wouldn’t be needed, I think noone would do it. It affects culling a lot, cause the more allies around you the less enemy you see. So it’s a double edged sword.
You say SFR makes the biggest blobs you saw. We reacted the same way when we first saw VS blobs after entering T1. It’s really a matter of perspective. It feels that this is the way the game is evolving.
But, putting discussion of who makes bigger blob aside, is it really a bad thing? Coordinating hole map together, working as a unit – if it works, then why blame anyone for using such strategy? If it brings results. Just yet another not so nice part of wvw next to nightcapping. But effective.
Honestly, if you say that “since 15 weeks we’re in T1, not a single server has ever used this tactic of stacking people as good as SFR does.” this is more of a praise then offense. We do have guilds that like and can fight on their own in smaller groups, we can attack in multiple places with smaller forces and we can also all join up together for a decisive push when its needed. We WORK TOGETHER. Nothing to be ashamed of.
Some players will say we do not blob. Ofcourse we do. But saying we do it all the time and it’s the only thing we can do is wrong.
I don’t get that language and nationality server excuse. Just look at the rankings. Only 3 EU server in TOP3 Tiers, 6 national servers. Being a national server you guys have a huge advantage of common language, it’s way more easier for you to create a succesfull community in much shorter time then any kind of EU server. Others have to overcome language barrier.
It even allows you to create those so called ‘super servers’ where your hole WvW community can focus in one place, like VS and Arborstone did. Remember when Arborstone came out and they stormed through rankings with a med pop? Most EU servers were in pieces, few are still creating their own community and looking for ways to improve. You passed that stage long ago.
You also have your own language forums to make communication easier, while you also come to general forum making it impossible for EU guilds to use it for improvement of any kind. You have your own version of the game that includes your own language, which boosts sales and is vital for getting new players into the game.
I could go on.

NA or not NA, SFR players can now sleep more, while VS preffer fighting on forums. Hope you guys will burn out and see how pointless it is.
Euro players from SFR also adjusted if you must know, its not only NA you fight against. First week you brought major forces at night and proved to be a great challenge for NA who were not expecting to be overwhelmed so much. Imagine fighting on your own all the time versus hole server with only 1 guild. SFR adjusted and brought more night force, which now is slowly giving results. Your move VS.
Also Elona leveled the night field a lot, cause BT was not a distraction for French at all.
But honestly, not many people really look at those 2 holiday weeks.
map switching and inter maps communications for nightcrew is something you learn in EU tier 2 when your server is not carried by an NA guild. you just skipped that part.
ask Elona, Deso, AS or BT they know it…
Shows how little you know about who you are fighting against. SFR won T2 3 times in a row before PRX even showed up. And we won without nightcrew cause we didn’t had any. In comparision to your all-night crew, we now have a single guild. Stop crying and get some sleep for a change, world will not explode.
Also enough with those fake night numbers you people keep bringing up. We ARE there, we SEE what we are up against. You don’t have to tell us. Enjoy 2 weeks of PvDoors, we come back in New Year for you.

Not throwing stones, but hacking story does not stick with me. Why would anyone hack him and then change servers to help one he was playing on? If someone would hack him they would either sell account/use it for gold hack farming etc or just destroy his belongings/delete chars etc.

Massive zergs, massive sieges and even more massive culling and abusing of invisibility. Actually I feel more like playing hide n seek then pvp.

So far VS even failed to take tower with breakout event on BT BL, had to wait for the second one.
It’s their choice and they’re aware of their role. It’s nice teamplay.
Anyway. Right now we are leading all the time, will see later during the day and match. But if not for PRX, VS would be the one that do the nightcapping. So yea, sorry we broke your game.

I second that. Give us ANYTHING. For many people WvW is the only thing that is keeping them in game. But without any kind of rewards for playing we will soon get tired of waiting.
Same goes for upgrades.
