Gw 1, a big skill grind...

In GW1 I played the first 2.5 years after release. I have no idea what you are talking about, must have come later.

Unless you are talking about elite capping, which wasn’t a grind at all.

I call bullpoo on this. Whether someone finds something as a grind is purely relative to the player itself. I for one loved GW1, but also felt a massive grind toward gaining skill points.

Why the fixed 50s bet for Moa Races?

I have no interest in Dragon Ball, but figured it might be a little fun to bet on the Moa races, but found that you can only bet a fixed amount of 50s? WTF?

I’m a very casual player and although I’ve been playing since launch I only have about 10-15 gold across my account. Why should I have to gamble away a significant chunk of what little I have? Why can’t we place custom bets like 50 copper or 1, 5, or 10 silver.

Come on Anet…

I played GW1 for 2 years and WoW for 3 years. I love GW2, but one thing I really wish it had was a good dungeon finder tool similar to what WoW had back when I played it.

Yes, I know about gw2lfg site, but I hate that site and we should not be forced to use 3rd party tool for grouping. Yes, I know GW2 developers have stated that a dungeon finder tool is in the works, but there is no date given when it would be finished that I’m aware of.

I feel your pain. I’m a lone wolf type of player and the straits of devastation is really hard to get through. The re-spawn rate is fast enough that shortly after you clear an area they pop right back up behind you. If you run into a bad situation it’s hard to run away because they’ve respawned right behind you.

For me I’ve conceded to the fact that I’m not going to get hardly any vistas or skill points from that zone. I’m just happy to have made it through there once to get to melchoir’s leap.

Ok, I have to put my 2 cents in now.

As a true midwesterner, the correct slang for carbonated beverage is…………………wait for it……………..wait for it………………………POP!!!!!!!!

It is pop, pop, pop, pop.

I’m not sure why, but for some reason I CAN’T STAND when people call it soda. It is not soda…..it is POP!

Now as far as calling it coke, then that’s just plain silly.

Many people that whine and complain about Anet needing to focus on other areas of the game apparently have no idea that there are different teams working on different things. Just because one team developed this new 8 bit game doesn’t mean other teams aren’t working hard on the stuff you want.

And you know this as a certainty? I don’t work at Anet so I wouldnt know.

No, I can’t say “I know” this for a certainty, but given any typical company such as Anet, it would be absurd to think or believe that they don’t have different teams dedicated to certain projects.

I fall into the 35-40 demographic. I tried out the new super happy fun ball adventure box game and it was not my thing. If others dig it then cool, but I don’t think I’ll be playing it again. That being said, I totally cool with Anet rolling it out. I have no hate like others do.

And by the way, I don’t entirely see this as catering to the 30-40 demographic. My first thought when I entered the game was that it looked like Minecraft and that is predominately a 10-20 demographic IMO. So I think Anet was targeting a large portion of it’s player base, not just the older generation of gamers.

Yeah, I’m aware of the site and my experience with it is…well, I flipping hate it. I know ANET is working on LFG Tool so I’m just waiting on that for time being.

It’s because so many people doing the event now. I get tremendous lag on my end doing these events. I’m pretty much only auto attack because of the lag.

This is why as a casual player with no strong guild ties would love to have a LFG Tool. That way we don’t have to sit around for ages trying to find a group that isn’t “elitist” and looking for specific professions/builds.

Granted, I’m sure that even with a LFG Tool, there will be some people that will bail at the sight of the PUG they were assigned to, but overall, I think this tool would help most casual players such as myself.

No GW2 Expansions or Sequels (Anytime Soon)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Bob.5732

IMO the game hasn’t been out near long enough to warrant an expansion or sequal. Anyone who thinks we need an expansion soon is just one of the many “content kitten.s.” that play balls to the wall and eats up all the content in a short period of time. But hey if that’s your playstyle then fine, but don’t be surprised when the developer doesn’t cater to your addiction as soon as you want.

now, ready for the price? 98g- which isnt really that bad if you think about it. when the game first came out, it seemed impossible. but now that its 6months in, 100g really isnt kitten compared to everything else.

This makes me a sad panda. Granted, I’m just a pretty casual player, but I have been playing since launch and only have about 3g tops across my account. I know it’s all relative to a person’s playstyle, but to see someone say 100g isn’t squat sounds crazy to me. I may never see 100g! :p

7 months later still no LFG search

Is there some reason gw2lfg.com isn’t working for you? I don’t see any reason for the devs to waste time and effort on something that has already been perfectly and successfully implemented. They have many other important things they are working on and bugs they are fixing. This would just be a redundant waste of time.

Whether or not someone think gw2lfg.com is successful or not is all relative. You clearly feel that it is a good tool and don’t want to “waste” dev time and energy on an in-game LFG tool. I, however feel that an in-game LFG tool is very much needed and very much worth dev time & energy. I can’t stand gw2lfg.com and is a waste IMO. Anyway, that’s my 2 cents.

I guess to each their own, but as far as my experience goes the gw2lfg.com site, it is total garbage and I hate using that. I’m just a pretty casual player with no intentions of running a ton of dungeons, but dungeons are one major component of the game that I haven’t had much to do with so far. And this is primarily due to the lack of a LFG tool. I HATE using chat for LFG. I HATE using 3rd party website. THERE NEEDS TO BE A GOOD IN-GAME LFG TOOL….PERIOD.

What is with these Dailies?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Bob.5732

Bob.5732

I like the change to the dailies. There is a random list to choose 5 from to get your daily. This is better than the old dailies in my opinion. I’m a very casual player and most dailies so far have been rather easy to achieve. If you’re complaining about eating 25 food, doing 15 dodges, 25 underwater kills….etc then you can always choose a different one to do. It’s that simple.

Guesting is out of control.

I normally have almost fully supported Anet so far, but this guesting is one thing I noticed first hand that is a problem. There was a very large gathering for Behemoth last night on Fort Aspenwood, game tanked because of so many people. I was forced to reboot my computer and it was nearly 10 minutes before I was able to get logged back in and then it put me into an overflow server and couldn’t move back to my home server for a few minutes. By the time I got back onto home server the event had just finished. I waited for a good hour in the swamp and then got jacked. Not cool man.

why is this game getting worst!

Bob.5732

Well, to each their own. I know a lot of people are upset, but I got the game at launch and am still really enjoying it. I know there are many posts about disgruntled players, but generally there are many more people having fun and you just don’t realize it because they’re too busy playing the game instead of posting on the forums.

A Discussion of LFG Tools

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Bob.5732

The tool “http://www.gw2lfg.com/” is a giant pile of crap.

As far as my experience goes when playing WOW and their dungeon finder tool, I think it went pretty darn good. While most times there was little conversation or interaction among team players. However, the vast majority of times the dungeons went smooth and fast. There wasn’t very many times I got paired up with players that sucked or griefed.

My play style is sort of lone wolf-ish so I don’t mind little conversation. Whatever ANET comes out with for LFG tool, I hope it’s just something to easily get queued up in for a dungeon no matter where you are in the game so you can go about your regular game play while you wait for spot to open and then simply click “accept” to join dungeon.

Dungeon Finder

Posted by: Bob.5732

Bob.5732

I feel the same way. I really, really, really want a dungeon finder tool similar to what wow had back when i played it a couple years ago. The last I read (maybe 2 months ago?) was that Anet is planning and working on some sort of dungeon finder, but they will not suggest a time when it would be available. All we can do is just wait for it when it does come and hope that it helps folks out like us.

Why I don't play a game I loved

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Bob.5732

Bob.5732

I think the best compromise would be for ANET to add a dungeon finder tool. Personally, I’m predominately a soloer, but would like to do dungeons. However, I haven’t done any dungeons yet because I hate sitting around in towns in chat window doing LFG or GLF. I’m not a very active guild member nor is my guilds very active.

I just think a dungeon finder tool would help cater more to the “soloer” type of player. I’m not really sure what the downside is for that tool to be added.

Player Poll: Gen. overview after 3 months?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Bob.5732

Bob.5732

Basic Format:
1. When did you begin playing? (post bw’s) – Launch 8/28/12
2. how many hours total do you have? (/age) ~ 150
3. What’s your most gold banked so far? ~ 2.5 gold
4. Do you have a max level character (s)? – None (highest is level 59 warrior)
5. List 1-3 areas / zones / events / tp; where you spend most of your time for income. – No specific zone. Just doing regular leveling in appropriate level zones.
6. Do you mainly use MF or not? – No, only used a 1% upgrade once before.
7. Have you ever got an exotic weapon from a mob? If so, how many and total? – None
8. Have you ever got an exotic weapon from a chest? If so, how many and total? – None
9. What’s the most number of rare weapons you have looted in one day or 8hrs time? – 1 (currently have 2 in bank)
10. How many rare or exotic weapons do you “expect” to loot in one hour of time? – unknown
11. How many lodestones have you looted total so far? (all types) – None, haven’t heard of lodestones yet.
12. Do you craft? If so, do you have a 400 crafter? if so, how many? – Minimal. Just got tailoring to 75 on level 14 elementalist other day.
13. Do you sell your looted crafting mats? (specify optional) – No, I horde them
14. Do you feel your return, (in terms of items, completion, income, etc) for your time, has been worth it? – Absolutely yes. The games is great!
15. In ONE word, what needs improved most; from your perspective? – Nothing

However appeasing to all the whining babies out there that constantly complain about lack of this or that in the game might help. I don’t feel bad whatsoever for these people that blow through the game and hit 80 after a few weeks, let alone some of these people that have multiple 80’s already after only 3 months.
