HoD is gross……….
Agreed, SF has earned their hold over EB but HoD will keep going for Mendons because there is a population on the server with a perverse Mendons fetish. Honestly, SF, if you guys knew what we did in there you’d probably just leave it alone.
edit: adding a picture that was posted in another thread… in case some of you missed the other thread. on friday, before reset, WvW was brought down for a patch, and everyone in WvW was directed to LA. here ya go… so here’s the entirety of the ET force from all 4 areas… at prime time. on a friday.
yeah. it’s that bad.
… Holy emptiness, katz. Dude, I am so sorry. And impressed you guys are still trying. I hope you get transfers. Talk about every individual making an impact! Have you tried putting up a post? Seriously, that is just a painful picture. :/ We in FC are cheering you guys on, fwiw.
LOL, this Filthy bounty thing is cracking me up! He is great at metagame stuff involving giving away his money. Raffles, bounties, what’s next? Maybe we’ll see a WvW JP thunderdome soon?
I hope no one puts a bounty on [ND] because I’m a kamikaze guardian with terrible map awareness and a very sensitive disposition. Plus I might make the local server sheriff broke from buying up my scalps.
However, I’ll be honest, It strokes my ego to no end to see that I had such impact on you all. Really, this makes me look like the most Legendary famous person on any of the 3 Servers.
Yeah I used to think everyone tried to kill me because they thought I was really good and hard to kill. Perhaps jumping up and down on my corpse and tea bagging is a sign of respect, but im not so sure anymore because I die fast, and I’m not so good.

From the minds that brought you “lets just sit out of wvw until SF leaves” last time we faced you.
Actually (EDIT: most of) those people transferred off HoD during the last SF matchup, so it doesn’t really apply anymore. We actually owe you a debt of gratitude for that by the way, they caused a lot of server drama.

zergs: wxp needs to be divided among those taking the objective, not just the same static # no matter how many people are involved. same with killing a player. (e.g. a towe could be worth 3000wxp. if 10 people take the tower, they all get 300wxp. if 20 people take it, they each get 150wxp, etc.)
guilds: it would be really REALLY helpful to be able to see what guild has claimed an objective. guild tag on the guards/lord and a tooltip/guild emblem/tag on the world map would both be good. also guilds should get some alert in guild chat when their keep/tower is under attack.

Those of us who put in the work are not well recognized
You don’t really deserve any recognition. Making a Legendary is not hard. Time consuming, sure, but not hard – if not by the (fastest) aspects of a Legendary that actually require completing the map, doing something in WvW and doing a few dungeons, it’s easy to see that a bot could get a Legendary – it’s perfectly capable of farming mindlessly for a very long time, which is the biggest requirement for a Legendary.
ArenaNet claimed they didn’t want players to grind in the Manifesto, but in the end they have taken the main rewards of the game and made them a prize for grinding. This is one more example of how the MMO mentality – that MMOs are bad games designed as just farming grounds for those addicted to that lifestyle – hurts GW2.

Maybe I’m missing something obvious, but I only see the EU matchups in the post that Devon put up. Did they just not announce the NA ones yet?

As you guys see, we did identify and fix a bug. Thanks to everyone for your help identifying the issue and providing great data for me to start with in my research.
Cheers all,
good luck in the future.
John Smith also has showed us how condensending and unhelpful he can also be.

How is that post condescending and unhelpful?

For changing the Ecto rate back ? If they mess up a rate that hard by accident,it’s only natural to assume it will be fixed right away.I can think of some other reasons he can show off he is the Boss..This is not one of those reasons..
When I am going into battles with lots of players, I have a condition damage weapon and a non-condition damage weapon. That is my solution.
If you go to the extreme on any strategy, you are penalized in situations where that strategy doesn’t work well. Going full berzerkers against some of the guild bounties will hurt you, as it will in any situation where you cannot avoid a significant portion of the damage. My guardian has to be very careful fighting boon stealers (with riders, your retaliation owns you). Bouncing attacks hurt you in fights near hard-hitting neutral creatures. Blinding is useless v dredge and burning useless v destroyers. Stealth won’t save you from a long, hard-hitting attack chain. The list goes on.
This is rarely a problem in the most difficult content if you plan. If you are a bleeder and see a necromancer in your party, coordinate your strategy before entering the dungeon.
In the big group fights, players will step on each other. People will CC or lead enemies out of your zones. Your boons will only affect a few allies (and maybe not affect the NPC you are trying to protect). Allies will throw up flashy effects so you cannot see telegraphs.
They should have made SM solo instances tied to the personal story rather than crafted “intro” dungeons to that are sometimes longer/harder than some explorable paths itself.
This is a really great idea.
Make “Story Mode” solo-able, but also twiddle it so that it teaches the mechanics that will be seen in “Explorable Mode.”
You can even give the NPCs dialogue that explains what the bosses are doing and how to best counter it, since they are there anyways!

It would be also great if the mini follows you until you stop it to do that.
It’s annoying to click on it each time you are on another map. ^^
Because basing difficulty of the game on a very tiny (even if equally loud) minority that will finish any content in hours anyway, and then cry there’s no endgame is not really a good strategy in a game that was advertised as catering to casuals.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
The bombs turn green? I didn’t see any bombs turning color.
I tried all the skills on the gun, I didn’t see any change in the bombs.
I’ve been reading all the threads complaining it is too easy to do the solo. Even someone saying that all that is needed is condition damage.
I have not found it easy at all, in fact, I have found it hopeless. I’ve tried to use the mines, but none of them has done any damage to Canach at all. I also tried the condition damage, but it had no effect on him at all.
Since no-one can go and show me how it is done, please, explain exactly what must be done to defeat him.
Thank you!
What was wrong was that I was trying to explode the mines when Canach was on top of them using the wrong charge on the mine detector. That proved impsooible for me to time right.Knowing to turn them green and lure him to them was the key.
At first, I thought you were trolling the forum…
Did you TALK to the NPCs at very beginning of the instance? There are two NPCs with GREEN tags over their heads. They provided more-than-enough details on how to use the detectors and mines…
ANet cannot make it more obvious for people to understand the mechanism of this new instance.
I can see where he’s coming from. The npc tells you how to :
- explode the mine – this sounds like it might hurt the boss.
- disarm the mine – my dictionary suggests the mine would not explode after this.
I don’t think it’s terribad as it is, just saying it’s not that obvious.
IUPDATE: He’s not “ignoring” disarmed mines – he only detonates them on contact, while you detonate them by proximity, apparently. Again, that sucks – it means you have to ensure that he runs right on top of the mine, instead of just pulling him within the mine’s circle.
Another thing that annoyed me – the group instance boss has a rush attack, with that he can run straight over green mines and even set them off without losing his shield.
Is something like Guild Calendar going to be added to the game? I would like to see an option like that in the “G” panel, near Guild Missions, Root, Ranks etc.
I think that something like that is very important for guilds, and helps to plan, and organize every ingame action.
In the ranks should appear an option then, who allows some people to modify this calendar, and other to just allow people sign up for any events.
Guild mates would create there events like PvP, WvWvW, Dungeons, Fractals, RolePlay, Guild Missions and other available content.
Look at that from this perspective- when ull have organized guilds in ur game, then people will know precisely the game. Supporting guilds is really important thing in the MMORPG’S, cause without a guilds u havent got a good game at all. When people dont have tools to make it good organized, then some of people login, and just dont know whats going on in the next hours, or just this day, or day after, or this week
Guilds often learn new players, and helps them in the new world.
Ofc some guilds creates their own calendars, forums and do it there (like mine), and it partly works… But i mean, when game has a thing like this tool (ingame), then it works few times better
RolePlay/PvP/Raid
(edited by Xar.1387)
I recently patched myself and want the company to be aware of the changes.
- Player will log off much quicker after killing 100’s of mobs in Orr, doing DE’s and receiving only trash
- Player will log off much much quicker after thinking “lets have a go somewhere else” and repeating the mob killing in Mount Maelstrom only to get endless globby goop and trash.
- Player will display a “disgusted” emote every time killing more than 5 mobs in a row in Orr results in NO loot.
- Player will no longer pay for gems in the store. Player used to when player considered that the game was fair. Player is tired of being slipped the porous bone.
Gem purchasing will recommence when game is fixed, that is all…thanks for listening.
…7 months later after the ANET post: nothing changed. Still noone is giving the slightest f*** about story modes. really gj. oh and i love how wonderful AC explo introduces explo modes to newer players. why not punch them in the face in the first place so they’ll never wanna try explo again?
You’re going to stop dodging? And killing things? And gathering? What, exactly, are you going to do when you log on?
Try this: “looking for fun, friendly people to run ____”
Don’t use mmo acronyms like LF2M. Add “experienced” if you prefer a run where everyone’s done it once
This actively filters out elitist jerks and you always get whispers of friendly hellos and requests to join. It always works for me.
What on earth does grouping for dungoens have to do with being social? Dungeon runners are the most antisocial people i ever met. Faster, skip, skip, faster, drama, drama, whine, whine, skip faster, faster, skip, skip, drama, kick. Yeah social as kitten :P
I find this notion of having a “main” completely ridiculous. All the classes I play are completely situational for me. All of them are completely geared up (3 exotics sets each) and leveled up so that might be why I think having a “main” is ridiculous, I can just hop in into whatever I feel like when I feel like and have the same amount of fun.
That’s the thing, though. You have the same amount of fun, as you said, with all of the classes. I don’t, and that is why I have main(s). This is true of other people as well, clearly indicated by this thread, so please don’t call the notion “ridiculous”.
I’ll be brief. I have no problem with the dungeon/grouping concept by choice, but I’ve had it with new dungeons being the only answer to continued PvE development in the game.
Why does every major PvE concept, whether Personal Story, Living Story or special events have to end with forced group instancing? I’d like to complete my personal story, Flame & Frost and experience Super Adventure Box on my time without having to deal with the random and varied expectations of strangers, much less their schedules.
Grouping for anything should be a choice, not a requirement.
Give me slower progression, less reward per run. I don’t care. It gives me something to do when I play. As it stands, you only produce walls which actively discourage me from playing the game.
Hmmmm… MMO – Massively Multiplayer
This would tell me that I should be playing with others. There are games made for crabby people that don’t like to group up and they are called SPRPG’s.
By the way, the super adventure box can be done solo, it scales down lol.
Love the “M in MMO” crowd. Playing with others does not mean grouping. In ten years of supposed “M in MMO” games I’ve spent the bulk of my time ungrouped, crafting, exploring, traveling, leveling, etc, yet still interacting with other players.
Never fails to amuse me when brought up. Funnier still that most of the big MMOs have an “automatically reject group invites” checkbox as well. Now, if MMO means “group” why do they do that?
