Intensely Aggravating PvE creature re-spawns

But in the case this guy’s complaining about, a Champ+5 pack it’s highly probable that by the time a soloer managed to kill all 6 of them the first has respawned even on a 2 min timer!.

Unless the WHOLE PACK is on a timer when the last dies then your observation, though perhaps correct on a per-mob basis doesn’t answer this type of case.

What you want from drops and drop rates

What do l want to drop, or get from a chest.

Anything that actually makes it worth doing the DE, event, event chain, boss, champion, Veteran, Dragon and whatever.

The drops, rewards now are worthless, probably explains why nobodies doing anything, and the areas are dead, l’m sure l saw some tumble weed blow past a few times.

It’s a big lonely area out there.

Jumping puzzles, love them or hate them, I hate them. Thread killer.

Roleplaying Mode + First person camera

in Suggestions

Arc.5862

At present, Ctrl+Shft+H removes the hud, which is good for roleplaying as it removes a lot of clutter that might otherwise take you out of the game. This is nice, but it’s not very easy to do anything in this mode! I’d like to suggest a roleplaying mode, one where pressing a combination such as Ctrl+Shft+R removes most of the hud, but leaves a miniature skillbar (perhaps in the corner?) A minimalist life gauge + endurance bar, and only the text entry box (not the full chat box, just the portion used to enter text.) Optionally could be a minimalist party list, for those who want to get their PvE on but keep things on the RP.

Secondly, are there any significant barriers in the way of a first person camera? I’d like to be able to take a walking tour of some of the amazing locations in GW2 from my character’s perspective!

A fix for the high respawn rates in Orr

in Suggestions

Posted by: Daddicus.6128

Daddicus.6128

The current respawn rate in Straits of Devastation is about 10-20 times what it needs to be. It was obviously created at a time when there were more people, but now it has effectively made the mapping title impossible to achieve.

I don’t mind fighting a lot of creatures. But, it’s impossible to advance when you are fighting an infinite number of them by yourself (or even in a group of two). And yes, it IS infinite.

Here is a very simple fix for this problem: Count the number of players in an area (or zone, if area counts aren’t readily available), and adjust the respawn rates accordingly. If there is only one person, respawns should be about ~10-30 minutes apart, long enough to clear the area and attain any mapping elements necessary. If there are more people, rates can be accellerated accordingly.

NOTE: An exception would be if there is a new event nearby. For a set period of time the rates could go up to match the story element.

Asura Gates need their names on the Mini-Map

I’m a pretty new player but I find it annoying and kinda strange that Asura Gates don’t have their destinations listed on the Map. Every Gate is just called “Asura Gate”. Is there a specific reason it is this way?

I found it a bit annoying when I followed a friend to Lion’s Arch (my first time going there) and he told me to meet him at the Gate to the Human settlement of Divinity’s Reach. So naturally I got lost trying to find it in a city with something like 15 gates. Then when he were at the right platform he couldn’t even remember which Gate it was and my friend had to run up and down the 5 ramps until he found the one with the Human’s standing by it.

Sure, I guess, after time we’ll remember where each gate is eventually, but its just a bit of an inconvenience that its not labelled on the Map. Even Carrots, Onions, Potatoes, etc, are all listed so why not Asura Gates?

A way of knowing which dungeons we've done

I think there should be some way of knowing which paths on the dungeons we’ve done.

Sure we can see how many paths are complete, but when chasing achievements you can’t tell which paths you’ve already done.

This could be as simple as add the names of the paths you’ve completed on the pop up for existing dungeon achievements.

Cheers,

Common Features that GW2 is missing

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Mithion.1830

Mithion.1830

So I have been playing since the first betas and am still playing quite frequently each week. Something is bothering me though. A whole slew of common sense features are missing the game. I feel these items could be added relatively easily by the programming staff and would quickly get some game features up to snuff. I didn’t add this to the Suggestions area because to be honest, I am not suggesting these features. I am telling you that they are just outright missing.

  • Add the ability to filter out items by adding a check box “Usable by me” in the search on the BLTP. It would do just that, filter out armor I can’t use. Or weapons I can’t use.
  • The trading post is still a little clunky. For example, when I post multiple items up for sale. At a certain point errors get generated and I can’t post any more items up for sale. It is almost as if an anti-spam script kicks in and prevents me from posting more items up. This problem has lingered for quite some time now. Fix it.
  • Add the ability to preview items in the BLTP.
  • Add the ability to chat-link items in the BLTP. (Shift + Left Click)
  • Add the ability to /follow another player in your party.
  • Add the ability to see a player’s active title under their name. I shouldn’t have to click on the player and review the status bar at the top to see their title. It is odd and doesn’t provide value to earning titles in its current state.
  • Signet of the Hunt currently states “Grants 25% increased movement speed to you and your pet”. However, the boon displays “10% Increased movement speed”. Fix it.
  • Hints | Items & Equipment | Broken Equipment – To this day I can’t get this hint completed. I’ve had and fixed broken gear already. This hint is broken? Fix it.
  • Hints | Social | Mailbox Is Full – Again, I have had a full mailbox and corrected the issue. Yet this hint won’t complete. Broken? Fix it.
  • BIG BIG BIG one for me here. Why the heck am I going to http://www.gw2lfg.com/ to find dungeon / event parties? You seriously need to add a dungeon finder tool. I shouldn’t have to use an external website tool to fill a gap in your game’s functionality.

This isn’t meant to be a gripe post. But you seriously need to address these items sooner than later. Thanks.

On necros being "broken"

in Necromancer

Posted by: Sheobix.8796

Sheobix.8796

First off, I’d like to state that necros are not “broken”.

We are not just a “DoT Class”

We are not “Useless” or “Weak”

We are not completely outperformed by other classes.

We are not squishy.

We are not lacking synergy.

Death shroud is not “a useless power build tool”

We are not unwanted in dungeons.

We are not limited by the bleed cap. (unless you build to rely on it. your loss)

A lot of players will disagree and flame on this specific thread for any one of the statements I have listed above. I mean every one of them.

How can I say this?

My first character was the Necromancer. I have played it to 80, geared it with 5 different exotic armor sets, went through 14 different builds that were either popular on the forums, self-made with lots of prep, or made with contribution from guildies giving insight on their own classes and their weaknesses that the necro can exploit.

My other characters i have made and played to at least level 45, or practiced with in s/tPvP successfully have been Guardian, Thief, Warrior, and Mesmer. (Although I have had more experience with Warrior and Thief)

First off, we are not broken. We have bugs like every other class. just because a couple traits don’t behave as expected or because our minions suck doesn’t mean the class is unplayable. we have strong Power, Bunker, and Condition based potential.

We are not just a DoT Class. If you look into our most commonly used skills, they deal both solid gray-typed (Power influenced) damage and Bleed damage. Sometimes we even have poison in our combos, which lowers our target’s healing efficiency. If you play to stack Condition Damage, you’ll get just that. Condition damage.
Bleeds take a long time for damage to fully run its course. Power based attacks do not. Perhaps it would be a good idea to have a balance of both, because we deal both at the same time. What a concept, right? Min/maxing ftl. Even with 0 condition damage, i can still deal 5k bleed off of BiP and 1.3k bleed from staff2. Does it make sense? It doesn’t have to be the center of your necro.

We are not weak. for example, in my Juggermancer build thread, We can achieve up to 30k hp, 3000 Armor, or 3500 attack, while still having access to all of our utilities. You can autoattack with a dagger in a power build for 2.8-4k per chain. that’s roughly 2k per second. Thieves can get 13k in three seconds using C&D=>Backstab=>Heartseeker, but if you drop ONE Well of Darkness, you negate that whole combo, and drain all of their initiative. One utility. Go figure.

We are not completely outperformed by other classes. I like to think of the necro as a lovechild between the warrior and the thief. Good sources of bleed, high power potential, high condition potential, high vitality base with extreme toughness benefit as a clothie. Sure, mesmers, warriors, and thieves can get higher stacks of bleeding faster than we can, but we also have the other 80% of the things available to our class that they do not. Take a look at those things we have in our bag of tricks. Using them intelligently makes you a good player. (What other class can skyrocket a second health bar in 3 seconds, go into it, and do 2k/hit auto attack damage, lifeleech everything to heal friends, and instapop fear to mess up a player combo? Not to mention our DS2 gap closer that chills the opponent.) It is only a weak mechanic if you don’t build to bolster it.

We are NOT squishy. Not only are we the only clothie class that has the SAME vitality base as Warriors, but we get 3x the milage from toughness and vitality than any other class. We have Death shroud, and plague form. having a higher Vitality benefits both, while toughness makes all three sources of health decrease much slower. (in this respect, we make a fantastic offtank. Sometimes, a better primary tank in dungeons) I have run Sorrow’s embrace and Arahs with guardians and warriors, and frequently I find myself to be last man standing. (and have prevented party wipes with hitting F+F1 wink wink ;D )

We are not lacking synergy. Death shroud, Spectral utilities, and wells all have great controlling play patterns. If a players figures out how to utilize ALL of them well, you’ll find that you won’t be found wanting anything more in your necromancer. Same goes for the rest of the utilities and traits. (save for reanimator, minions, and our signets. What a waste of space. lol) Dropping Well of Suffering and Well of corruption while dropping staff5, and Ds3 to keep them in your well while maintaining a high Dagger1 autochain or Ds1 ramp-up with might blast trait, you’ll find yourself doing as much damage as a glass cannon thief while pressing fear control, ripping boons with WoC, and building might and poison. Thieves do not get those side benefits at all.

It was really nice event but there was one mistake that i was lagged all time. 5s delays in skills use, cannot move, repairs cost more than event profit, neverending loading…etc. I was really disappointed with this event.

Arena you know how many players play this game and you still make so lag events. We have now trial players on game and you make one-time event when hundred of players fight on one time? Total nonsense, lags was so huge that many players cannot load to map, other cannot move or use skills. It was really very bad work today from your side!!!!

It seems that I come to the forums and I find myself falling into the trap of harping on the negative. It is certainly easy to do, since this seems to be the place to come to rant and rave, by many, including myself, at times.

I have had a bad week in my all time favorite game. Connection issues, mostly. Death by lag is never easy to take. Give me a good old fashioned epic death where I go down fighting and not one pre-ordained by the gods of the ethernet, any day.

Since my connection issues are not allowing me to fight, I decided to revisit cities on a character that has not done much map completion, I leave such things to my “main”.

I have always loved the Art of Guild Wars. In Guild Wars 1 I was Legendary Cartographer, and those who achieved that title know that it required a lot of perseverance. But there was so much beauty there, that I did not mind. I enjoyed the trip.

And walking around today I am reminded again of the beauty of Guild Wars and what keeps me here. The attention to detail. The small things that give me joy.

I know that in Guild Wars 1, over 8 years I saw many expansions, updates and changes, and in the end, I still loved the game. Loved it enough to plunk down loads of cash for the Collector’s Edition of this one. Certainly there were things I grumbled about back then, and there are things I grumble about now. But in the end, I believe, I truly do, that the trip will be marvelous.

I have a folder where I keep old essays and poems that I have written over the years. On one small scrap of paper is a sentence: Cats are Always Haiku.

It is the small things that bring us joy.

As a long time GW vet, this patch is giving me a weird sort of flashback. I recall the first major content patch for the original game. It was the Sorrow’s Furnace update. And it also came just months after the games launch, and introduced a new tier of weapons (green in this case).

Green weapons were much like Ascended gear in the way the stats were max for their level, but were “baked” into the item and could not be changed. They had unique skins and were really neat if you found one that had the exact stats you wanted (Victo’s Battle Axe and Wenslauss Faith FTW). But a lot of people still used rare (yellow) items for their ability to be customized. In fact, as more diverse and creative builds were discovered, more eccentric stat combinations were needed and greens became inferior to the tier beneath them.

Green weapons did not introduce power creep even though they were initially superior to what most players had. This update did not start a vicious cycle of ever increasing item stats. But they were neat for what they were and people continued to “hunt for greens” for the entire life of the game, and probably still are today.

In other words the update was fun and it worked. Players were excited for a while, then they just became a thing to do. You got to wonder if this named boss would “drop his green” this time.

Keep in mind this is only A.net’s second game as a studio. And they are following the pattern they know. Release, content update, expansion. The Sorrows Furnace update introduced a new area on the map that was just smaller than a total zone, and so is Lost Shores. Sorrow’s Furnace introduced a new dungeon and so is Lost Shores. Sorrow’s Furnace introduced a new tier of gear, and so is Lost Shores. Sorrow’s Furnace introduced chest keys…ok, if Lost Shores has chest keys, then im out :p

On paper, A.net has pretty much stayed consistent with their habits. It’s more that the players have changed. Maybe that’s the new audience scared that this game will turn in to the one they left? To them I say, it didn’t happen seven years ago, it likely wont now. Maybe its other former GW players that didnt experience the game pre-Sorrow’s Furnace? To them I say, this has already been done and you continued to enjoy the game for a long time afterwards.
