I just logged out of the game to have a bite to eat, and came here to check the board-buzz. I left an event in a level 15-25 zone that was attended by about a dozen players. Of course there were more than that a few months ago; that’s the way online games typically work. WoW isn’t typical, and Guild Wars 2 doesn’t need WoWlike numbers to be a success.

Two things matter: Box sales and gem purchases. If ArenaNet says they’re doing well in their financial statements to their parent company, am I to believe a few ex-players who say otherwise? Think about the difference between someone who has quit the game and someone who is playing without any intention of buying gems. Retention rates are low, you say? Oh no, people are not paying their subscription fee!

Losing track of cursor + terrible tab targeting

I don’t just lose my cursor, it disappears. I’ve confirmed this over and over, and reported it with steps to repeat as a bug.

How far away should i play from the bots?

Want to know why they don’t ban a bot account right away? Because that only kills one part of the organization. Mark an account as a bot account and then see where it sends the money it makes, there it comes from, etc… and you may get the information needed to ban both the seller and the buyer.

I love my Ranger (80, and I also have an 80 Guardian and 80 Warrior). I wouldn’t call the class disappointing at all, but then again my wife loves her Engineer (80, and she also has an 80 Mesmer and 80 Guardian). Perhaps it’s because we always duo?

After the mass bot banning, there are really not that many bots out there. Sure, they exist in a few prime spots, but stationary “farming” doesn’t result in significantly more look than migratory event farming. Staying in one place is boring. See a bot? Report it, finish the event, and move on.

Crafting doesn’t have to mean you crafting the item yourself. Look up the materials required for the items you want and then talk to crafters in your guild and see if they’ll craft if you supply the materials…

1) Harvest, harvest, harvest… everything.
2) Break down high level rares using black lion kits (from chests, zone completions) to get ectos for crafting.
3) Kill creatures that drop the parts required for the type of stats you want on the item.

This new dungeon has ruined my experience

I joined a guild late so most of my dungeon runs have been with PUGS. Finished all of them except 1 and that was because the last fight bugged in CM.

In fact, I usually hate doing dungeons in MMOS because of horrible PUG encounters in other games. I was shocked by how much fun I had in GW2 dungeons and with PUGs.

I’m glad you did respond. Maybe I’ve not given the GW2 community enough credit, and I’ll make it a point to join a PUG or two to give them a try.

It sounds like you do not run dungeons very often. In general there are very few people looking for groups on the map where the actual dungeon is, with perhaps the exception of some of the more popular dungeons, and even then it is usually the minimal since most people prefer to recruit from LA.

To be more accurate, most people perfer to recruit from their frields list and guild. Yes, there are people spamming for recruits in Lion’s Arch; It may even be the fastest way to get a group if you don’t have the friends list or guild options. But is the group formed there really worth joining?

I run dungeons regularly and have never joined a PUG that was spamming for people (in Lion’s Arch, or otherwise). My guildie groups have occasionally picked up a 5th person, from where the actual dungeon is, when we couldn’t find a 5th we knew. We have never taken in more than one “unknown PUG’er” at a time and have never recruited from Lion’s Arch. Why? Because PUGs can work out fine, but they can also turn into a mess. It’s just not worth the risk, expecially with the vote-to-kick mechanic as it now stands.

So it doesn’t matter how many hours someone plays, if the game maker changes direction the customer has a right to his/her money back? Seriously, if it wasn’t two months, and was instead two years, it doesn’t make a difference? 1000 hours? 10,000? I’m thrilled with an entertainment option that costs pennies an hour. I’m glad people are focuses on games then, because the future of real life entitlements is going to bite hard.

There are a lot of threads where people are threatening to ask for their money back because they don’t like the direction they perceive that the game is headed in. There are silly statements like “I deserve answers!” and “The customer is always right!” Most of those threads make me laugh, but I’m sure there are people at ArenaNet who are taking them personally.

Regardless of your feelings about the game, stop and ask yourself how much game play you need to get out of a $60 game before you feel that you got your money’s worth. Because the guy who said he has 500 hours into the game and feels cheated may be pushing the reality envelope hard enough for even the most jaded of you to giggle.

Full Account Character List

Since we’re already a member of a guild with all of our characters, it makes sense that the guild roster have some way to list all characters on an account. This is especially important for tradeskill numbers. How is my guild to know that I have an alt with 400 Tailor and 400 Huntsman if it only shows the character I’m currently playing?

There are a lot of Multi-guild suggestions, but I have a suggestion that may be less work:

Multi-guild Solution 3
I’d like to see a feature that allows the player to optionally set (per character) the guild that the character will auto-represent whenever the character enters WvW or sPvP, and the guild that the character will auto-represent whenever the character enters a PvE zone other than a city. This may solve many people’s frustration with the multi-guild system.

Features that would make GW2 guild management better:

Days Since Login on guild list
Days Since Represented on guild list

A link to an account popup that includes….

list of the accounts characters
Officer Note editable and visible to officers only.
Player Note editable by the account owner and visibile to all guild members.

Create a “Guest” or “Ally” rank for people who don’t represent and remove treasure trove access to that rank. Move anyone not representing into that rank.

“Speed Run” is often just another way of saying “Exploit.” The level 80s may assume that, at level 50x, you’re not jaded enough to skip the non-boss mobs using rest tactics that are clearly not part of ANet’s vision of gameplay.
