Umm theres lots of official game art depicting capes/cloaks. I think it’ll happen eventually, because this is guild wars, and guild wars needs halls and capes.
Who else is super excited about the LW format updates?
- Bridging the disconnect between the PS and the LW has been one of the most badly needed polish-pieces since the LW began last year. Goodbye immersion breaking cognitive dissonance!
- It’s a smart business model. It’s totally optional, but even if you miss it and want it it’s a meager $2.50, which is low enough that you’re not paying it grudgingly but substantial enough to provide Anet with more revenue for more new content. Plus, it incentivizes players to log on while content is current to get it for free.
- More story telling UI in the game for a more immersive gaming experience in general.
- The level 80 requirement is awesome. Anet can now focus on designing content around end-game appropriate levels of challenge. Plus, it helps conceptually line up the PS and the LW in a way that makes sense (i.e. the chronology is clear).
- Goodbye soul-destroying achievement grinds, hello fun goodies.
- PERMANENCE! Too much temporary content makes it too easy for people to lose interest in the game when they inevitably get behind in the story and miss things. It also makes it feel like the world isn’t properly growing, which is something every MMO needs.
Yeah, I’m happier than I’ve been regarding the direction of this game in quite some time.
Or they could’ve just made it permanent to begin with.
I’m correcting you. You didn’t already pay for upcoming content.
To be fair all this LS stuff is developed post-launch so you’re not exactly entitled to any of it on account of buying the game. The dungeons, PS and open world at launch is what you’re entitled to. Even if the LS updates happen to contain those things you’re not entitled to them.
Best think of LS as DLC (just to be clear-I loathe DLC and thought it would do more harm than good for nearly 10 years now, but I digress) that you can play for free if you happen to log in during the launch week but you have to pay for later if you missed the launch period.
It’s an….interesting tactic. Log now or pay later…sneaky way of making people more inclined to at least log in-and once you’re logged in you might play a few mins. It’s not as good as an expansion (no leading by the nose you see)…but since they’re hell bent on this LS then this is an OK compromise I think.
I’m correcting you. By purchasing this companies product, like many others have, I have invested in the FUTURE DEVELOPMENT of said product. I already gave them my money, so until they give me something that I have not invested in, why should I give them more?
If I want to go back and play parts of the living story that I wasn’t around to see, I have to give you more money or farm in game and convert my hard work into gems for next to no content in return?
Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t I already purchase your game? At what point does it become ok to charge your customers more for something they’ve already purchased? Why even gate the content like this? Does this mean I’ll have to pay for micro-updates of the living story in the near future?
I just got 5 for completing queensdale earlier today, plus a bl key.
Title says it all. Lets see everyone’s powerful gaming machines at work!

I spec condition damage, power and precision with a mix of vitality. I run a shortbow boosted with bleed chance on crit (along with the trait passive) and sit around 60% crit chance. I can keep anywhere from 10-15 bleed stacks up on a single target if im behind them and 8~ if its a normal duel. My bleeds are 90-100~ damage a tick. Mixed with the cripple, swiftness and rupt/stun id say that a ranger is the most versatile skirmisher with just the shortbow alone. I run a sword/dagger secondary set for the evasion (mostly to deal with warriors/thiefs/mesmers) and the added poison effects (though i wish the dagger bled instead of poisoned, would be an awesome utilty/skirmishing buff for melee combat). I havent played around much with a long bow but it seems more like a control weapon. Push backs, burst and aoe cripple/dps for blocking paths. Seems like rangers just need small utility workarounds in their skills and a pet rework/fix to make them sit comfprtably in the usability department.
I don’t who would be old enough to get this reference, and I felt really silly when I instantly recognized it. In Bloodtide Coast at Moriarty’s Hold, Captain Penzan sings the Guild Wars version of the Modern Major General’s song from The Pirate Movie. It only adds to it that his lackeys are the Penzan Privateers.
