Did you play in the beta weekend? Those smokescales are no joke!
It’s not a Christian cross. It would need to be further up and it is not nearly narrow enough. This is more of a stain glass X or a clover.
I really hope we someday get a GW2 hall of monuments where we can show off our cool trophies and have big statues and all that neat stuff. That was the best part of EoTN. The rest of it was just more of the same, grindy GW1 goodness. It was really good for it’s time and I expect HoT will also be a really good addition to more of the same but different for GW2.
As for your Eye Of the North list
41 new armor sets, including rare, stand-alone pieces – HoT will most assuredly have new weapon and armor skins and it will no doubt have some that are rare stand alone pieces not just including the new Legendaries.
100 new profession-specific skills (10 per profession, none of which are elite) – Comparing GW1 skills to Gw2 skills is apples to oranges. The sheer number of skills in gw1 that were total trash was enormous and the entire system is so totally different you can’t really look at the number but Elite Specializations are the comparison to this and it seems like a good version for the new format. Hopefully we get more Elite specializations added into HoT and not just get one per expansion but time will have to tell.
50 new PvE only skills including 3 elite skills – The Mastery Track system is the counter to this system and we’ll have to see how extensive it is but I have decent hope for it. Adding new abilities/ways to play after an extensive grind is exactly what the mastery system was supposed to fix right?
10 new heroes – There’s no parallel in GW2 sadly. I kind of wish we did have heroes but that would mean we’d need some better AI. I know I’d rather take Marjory with me to run dungeons than some of the pugs with XXXwhateverXXX names I get through LFG.
18 Dungeons – We don’t know what “challenging group content” is yet so it’s hard to say. I really hope it’s some form of instanced content like dungeons. If it’s not that’ll be a huge downer and a real valid point to knock against HoT. Also I remember not every GW1 EoTN dungeon being a winner. A lot of them were meh.
124 new quests – We don’t know how many maps HoT will have yet but if they managed to give us good event density and the outpost system works out like they want it to this will be way cooler than quests. That said we’ll have to wait and see how it all pans out.
So yeah I think HoT could be a solid comparable to EoTN but one of them isn’t out yet and one has been out for years so it’s a little hard to give a fully rational side by side. We’ll have to see how HoT holds up once we get our hands on it.
Please please please please please please please.
Well with the new outfit/town clothes tonic thing we should be seeing clothes tonics easy enough hit the store soonish right? I’d like to hope at least!
Flameseeker Prophecies says “hi”
We have a wide array of styles with the classes we already have. What would a new class accomplish that could not be handled by the introduction of new weapons and skills? Increasing build diversity and skill niches is what we really need.
Oh thank the Six. Yay permanent.
After running around for a little while and seeing all the legendaries from the “cool table” with the revamps it’s still a huge slap in the face to Flameseeker users and definitely not fine as is. It may be the best looking shield in the game but it still needs to stay worthy of it’s legendary status and have the same features as the other weapons.
We need a footfall effect, or an aura. At the VERY least we need engi’s to throw the shield instead of the generic graphic if for some reason unique skill effects can’t be thought of but I’m sure there’s plenty of ideas that the great folks at Anet could put on it. Come on guys!
As we get more and more skins coming into the game we’ll see more and more fancy effects put on new weapon skins, that’s just how games slowly evolve. Right now have a number of shields that are both animated or have light effects putting them in the same league as the Flameseeker such as the fractal shield, the fused shield, and the zodiac shield. We need our shield stepped up! We need to hang with the rest of the class!
It would be great if some of these minigames went to the custom arena. I don’t have a huge problem with them, it’s just a little boring not being able to do some of these with friends. Since they used the PVP setup anyway it seems like a no brainier and get more activity for the custom arena kits.
This would be SO AWESOME if it could happen. I totally agree with y ou on the aesthetics. I don’t think they’ll ever do it but hey we can dream right. And who cares if it might be nicer in places than falling off cliffs, falling off cliffs sucks. Just let everybody dodge/parry and there it’s not OP.
