I really don’t understand all this talk of minorities.
Being capable of raiding isn’t some minority you’re born into like race/ethnicity, it’s simply researching and participating in something. The only ones stopping you from becoming part of this “minority” are yourselves.
How far do we stretch this logic?
I’m no good at PvP, you have to let me get the PvP legendary backpiece by participating in hot-join.
I’m no good at high level fractals, you have to let me get the legendary backpiece by participating in fractals 1-10.
Typical of sensible people to point out baseless hyperbole.
You’d find similar responses from any half sensible person no matter what section of the forum or game mode, in the face of nonfactual absolutes.
a game mode that no one likes and no one plays.
No one likes, not one person. Absolutes much?
Any of the people I’ve raided with would staunchly disagree.
It’s currently the only PVE content that actually requires any decent amount of planning & skill (which is a plus point for a lot of people btw)
Raids are the main drive for maintaining my interest in GW2 currently. I’ll probably always come back for new content dumps, such as expacs/LS, but raids keep me logging in each week.
The variety of roles involved and new roles introduced in each wing have helped me engage in so many more classes/builds. The ease of gearing up (save for viper stat perhaps) makes it much more possible for me to try out different classes/roles, especially compared to fractals.
Lots more raids please
Wow. Whats going on in your head. Your hate towards raids and players doing them is crazy.
Time and time again I see this person railing against raids, whilst showing pretty emphatically that they have no experience of clearing many (if any) of the encounters.
It seems strange to me that a person would wish to spend so much time flaming against a part of a game which they openly admit to disliking. It only really serves to derail a conversation which people who are interested in that part of the game, or indeed the game at all, are trying to have.
I think some people need to take a good look at themselves and wonder why they spend so much time working up a fervor about something they don’t like/participate in.
This is the most minor issue imaginable being blown to epic proportions by people who would be best off remaining quiet.
And people who by their own accounts, don’t even enjoy the game :’)
If someone says “Well kitten this, I’m out” they were not talking to you to start with, they were talking to the OP, you’re not gonna change their mind by calling them names, or insulting them, so… why do it?
Why don’t you instead just talk about your opinion of the change, and just let them express their opinion?
To take a pluralized noun like whiners as name calling/insult isn’t on me. Most people whine about one thing or another, that’s just how we are. Maybe I should’ve said “All those people expressing negative opinions of a game mechanic being included in raids”
As for my opinion, it’s just that. Leyline gliding is a game mechanic, presumably this plays part in an interesting raid mechanic.
The modicum of grind to get this is comparatively lax to that of gear grind required in other MMOs.
No not going to rationalize it away. I just didn’t think about it TBH. I haven’t done sloth yet, so I shouldn’t have made any assumptions about that. I was wrong about that. Sorry to disappoint you by admitting that as it seems you were hoping for an argument.
Gorseval (the 2nd boss of Wing 1) requires updraft gliding, another HoT mastery.
I do wonder if a lot of the whiners have even beat vale guard?
Looks decent to me.
Since you play conditions – you need only 1 stat for DPS. Investing the rest into defenses is not really that bad of an idea.
Condition DPS scales both on the condi damage & condi duration stats.
Also a lot of condition builds rely on some amount of crit to proc either sigils or traits, such as sharpened edges in the linked build.
the 5 man kills will die most likely today, they are based on exploiting that broken chronomancer well, same as most ‘speed kills’ (yes all VG records are meaningless after this patch as you can’t reproduce them anymore)
Actually you’ll find a lot of those 5 man kills don’t use the “broken well” at all, they in fact use this and this (which are both core mesmer )
Generally you can take the rule of:
Once you’ve had a green aoe in your current section, take him straight into the other section.
Kite him a small amount, just the other side of the line between the 2 sections so the rest of your party can dps and only the tank is in the lit section. When the next section becomes unlit you can go ahead and pull him to the usual spot
This way if you’ll almost never risk spawning a green AOE in a section that’s about to light up, only a section that will become unlit in time for everyone to get there.
Except if you take decimate defenses you can stack a lot of vitality, with 0 loss to DPS (in fact you can gain DPS with certain runes/food).
Except if you’re a reaper and gain a passive 10% damage reduction from chilled foes.
Except if you take blighters boon to heal as you facetank.
Except if you take Rise! for a 50% damage reduction whilst you’re all up in Axemaster Hareth’s face screaming “BWOOOOAH”.
All context sensitive of course, but being able to facetank and not suffer so much DPS downtime can feel pretty good at times
So let down by this.
Came home hoping to see the glider skin on the gemstore, I’m fanboyish enough to drop 800gems on that kitten.
But part of a pack, with a completely unrelated and wholly undesirable (personally speaking) outfit… I cannot justify that to myself.
Going to have to vote with my wallet on this one and miss out on a gorgeous glider skin
Just saw someone mention Superior Runes of the Chronomancer. 6th bonus is applies 2s of quickness when you cast a well. New BiS for reaper?
Can’t really see people taking more than 2 wells (suffering & corruption) in raids, so even when traited that’s around that 4s of quickness per 30s, that’s ~13% up-time.
On the face of it that seems like a sustained DPS loss in over rune of the scholar’s 10% damage buff and extra crit damage.
I’ve also tried using this skill to pull the bomb in the south octovine at Tarir meta event. Seemed to have 0 effect, whilst GS5 was hit and miss as to how much it pulled.
Worst thing about west is that players don’t understand that if you enter the AOE left by another player-mushroom popping, then your transform is cancelled due to damage without you actually stripping any slime stacks!
Even though you can clearly see that no stacks were stripped, even with constant reminders in chat, you see the same players constantly kamikaze into another players AOE field.
The result of this is that often around < 50% of the players in the room are actually contributing at all. It would be nice if there was more guidance in game for this, but if players can’t even read chat then I don’t hold my hopes too high
Whilst I find it pretty good in PvE with might granting food buffs, it’s seemed pretty underwhelming in sPvP so far, even with as cheesy a boon granting build as I can manage.
How about giving the trait an ICD but only on boons granted by allies. This would bring back some of the team support role it encouraged, whilst not letting boon-diarrhea professions ruin the balance.
Ye, keep runing valk/cavalier, QQ later that ppl still thinks that necro is useless
Bers is the only way to go if u want to be compete with different classes.
How is a reaper running valk w/ almost capped crit chance any worse than berserker?
It still has just the same amount of Power/Crit Damage Also the extra vit helps me facetank damage whilst rezzing zerker pug scrubs.
For HoT open world and Fractals I’ve been running mostly Valk.
With the reaper decimate defenses trait, reasonable fury up-time and food buffs you probably have plenty of precision already and can make up the rest with a few zerk trinkets/weapons.
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Superior_Rune_of_the_Wurm is pretty nifty for bonus crit damage
I’ve been trying out Cavalier trinkets lately for some nice synergy with https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Deadly_Strength
As others have alluded to however, since HoT fractals have seen pretty noticeable damage nerfs with most enemies becoming damage sponges.
I’d suggest you join a friendly PvE Guild then it won’t matter what class you roll, at least for dungeons + fractals
Necro might not be in the speedrun meta, but it’s definitely viable, I’ve even been in a successful 4 Necro + 1 Guard level 50 fractal just for fun
Necro has a pretty unique spot in Fractals atm with Corrosive Poison Cloud, this skill is the only projectile destruction which can deal with Old Tom is the Uncategorized Fractal and Mai Trin’s cannon phase
There are also pretty cool things you can do with our 2 teleports as well as the tankiness of Plague Form.
One thing needs to be said tho: for open world PvE-farming like Silverwastes or Drytop, you want to have power-focused builds, so rifle is your natural weapon of choice.
What makes you say this? I play sinister with focus on burns, never burned those mordrem husk slingers down so fast!
Usually only tend to get out the rifle for extra escapes vs those pesky Mordrem Lurchers
I’d love some all Necro shenanigans!
When HoT comes out, or maybe before, we’ll be able to chat in multiple guilds so that would solve the issue of having to consistently rep
From what I understand, the profession win order was randomly seeded for a certain amount of weeks. This rotation of the dailies then simply repeats whenever it runs out; so if the initial rotation was biased then it will remain biased until they eventually change it.
I would love to see ANet change these to something more like “Win a PvP match as 2 different professions”, as I’ve seen suggested here several times before.
