After Season 5 ends…….Am I able to continue to complete the required achievements to acquire Ascension?

Or will i need to wait for Season 6 to start?

Just wondering if I am wasting my time the last week of S5 in which I am most certainly will fall short on.

I run D/D Tempest (Perma Prot, Regen,Vigor, Cleanse, Heals) and have great sustain and I am thinking about using it in Raids. However, I would change based on needs of group/guild. I personally dont like how pretty much all WH skills are 30+ CDs (Air skills are 25sec). Too me that should be fix, some may be justified at 30sec but 6 of 8 skills are 30sec+ and the other 2 are 25sec.

Your team still needs to have quite a decent damage potential, this build doesn’t offer that so you must be certain that your other team mates will bring enough damage, both direct and condition.

Agree. The group will need to ensure we have the needed damage. If they do not, there are some tweaks to grant more damage.

People complaining that DS is too OP are just crying. You have classes that can basically throw conditions on a given player non stop, Ele’s could not keep up with the condi clear in the current game state. For Eles that use DS , typically they will need heals and/or condi cleanse to help cover or the trait is useless

Those Eles that use DS and maybe trait for condi cleanse via water ….they just have high sustain. So they probably do average or below average DPS .

Lets just nerf Conditions and DS would be fixed.

By the way every build has a counter. A good thief power build can easily drop an ele with DS below 90%.

Random Thoughts and suggestions.

- Combine Hardy Conduit and Speedy Conduit into Harmonious Conduit. (Overloads grant needed Stability, protection, and swiftness)
- Move Latent Stamina to a minor baseline.
- Shouts should be insta cast with X Cool Down. If not, add reduce recharge of shouts to Tempestuous Aria.
- Earthen Proxy should maybe include …..Increase Toughness and Vitality of allies by +75 or +100). This way it feels like we are supporting our allies.
- Lightning Orb should not be line targeting.
- Overloads well read previous posts in thread and forums.
I feel like we should have some unique or new Aura or something. Maybe one that encompasses all of our elemental auras/traits (Fire, Water, Air, Arcana, Earth).

Are the PvP Leader Boards no longer in affect? I show only a small amount of my unranked and ranked matches…..Around 40 total. When in actuality I have several hundred combined matches.

First I would recommend and second the Logitech G600 mouse for gaming, as that is what I use. Once you get used to it, you will love it…

Try a different build, never spec full heal. Ranger Elite spec (Druid) may be the only class who might be able to pull off some sort of dedicated healer…However, I dont know much about it or have yet to play one….so I can be totally wrong.

This is another one of those posts that don’t match my experiences.

If you are talking about D/D and Roaming, yeah, you can’t 1vs3 people anymore…yeah, it sucks.

If you are talking about Staff and Zerging, then, lol?

To think a couple of changes to fire rendered, what was the most important class in a coordinated zerg, EXTREMELY USELESS is pretty out there.

(Edited To Add: Oh, my bad. You were talking about gylphs being extremely useless. But…still. Come on, man.)

If you were running Fire before the patch, then you were probably running Pyromancers. That plus sigil and rune choices and multiple sources of might from the zerg itself rendered the might from cantrips unnecessary and a “nice to have” at best.

Even before the nerfs, you still had Air as an option which would provide a superior bonus to DPS if you were attunement swapping enough to prohibit gaining any real benefits from the fire only traits. That is a common scenario if you are one of the main elementalists on TS in the CC and water rotation.

If this is the case, Guardian might stacks should be nerfed….because if they are in the zerg they would be rendered unnecessary due to the amount of guardians, eles, or whomever in zerg that can stack might (buffs).

Fire 3 did not require a nerf…..Why was Ele considered OP? The burning…Anet apparently fixed that because they nerf Ele burn instead of global burning?? I believe the burn guardian still all the same…..

aNet basically took something away from cantrips that is the main utility used by all Eles in WvW and sPvP due to low base stat pool and survivability.

I dont care about ice bow that much but when you decrease its usefulness -50%….Just get rid of skill.

Maybe this is how aNet will make Tempest more enticing to Ele.

I am still using Ele in sPvP just using Earth instead of Fire for now.

About us:
ENVY is a WvW/PvX guild and have been on SoS since beta (brief stint on Henge of Denravi), we are focused on small-medium size WvW fights (Roamer 3-5, Havoc 5-10, and medium group 10-15), we are looking at getting a bit larger for 15+ zerg busting, we welcome anyone who wishes to follow. If they wont merge servers. Why not make top t1 server and bottom tier servers join forces for WVW. 2nd t1 server team up with 2nd to last in bottom tier…..this may provide better more balanced wvw fights…..just do this for wvw.

I wish they would have made warhorn main hand and offhand. I think ele needs a weapon that can be placed in either hand. Will help grow the ele and promote build diversity. With the tempest right now….I dont see it being worth taking over the other trait lines. Elite specializations should be just so awesome that you almost have to lean toward taking……other wise it isnt elite.

I see some potential but seem like there are too many changes that would be required and i am not sold that anet will look into the recommendations of its ele player community, as i hardly see any reponse from devs on ele forums ever.

Overall, I would say Tempest and Warhorn are a 3. Nothing really good or bad, just kinda of meh….. I think the Elite Specializations should be something that every class/profession wants to take because its just so utterly awesome. The utilities are kinda of cool but I think they need to go back and rework them a bit. We should have the ability to reduce CD or maybe incorporate that into the Rebound (Elite). All shouts recharge instantly. Reduce recharge of parties next skill by 25%…..

The healing skill would be nice if it were also a water field for blasting.

Hardy and Speedy Conduit should be combined or even merged with Harmonious Conduit.

Auras should stack, not just Frost aura.

Warhorn and Shouts should have a reduce recharge.

The warhorn skills + Traits should add boon stripping, granting boons, or converting condi to boons. This should be party wide (5 targets). By doing this, just maybe more folks will be enticed to take Tempest over Arcane or Water.

Also, Ele is just missing some damage from Tempest and Overloads……

I like the elite shout and the shouts in general. However, they will need to reduce cool-down a tad and/or have a trait that allows us to reduce recharge. Otherwise, I don’t think many will take the shouts. Air 4 then Fire 3 for D/W may be nice…

Things wills change on tuesday due to patch. However, staff is not one for a confi build. Usually, staff in zerg is support or aoe damage. Go to metabattle.com and look for ele in wvw staff build meta. Will have what armor and all that indicated there. I am on sos. Hit me up in game if u have questions.

I think most would not complain if the $50 package included a free character slot for those that already have the core game. If you remember back to the announcement of HoT, they had GW2 for sale and people bought the core game up….. They should have had HoT w/ a free character slot. Any other game I have played ( F2P or P2P) would have given this.

Thanks for info. How about trinkets? Do I need two sets of those as well? Seems like Anet needs to fix this, as we tend to have to keep many armor sets in bags or bank……

I would like to see aNET add a feature for swapping builds. Folks can save their trait setup and even armor stored in inventory to quickly swap to a save build when not in combat.

What does everyone else think?

I know of a few knowledgeable and skilled ele’s on these forums from previous postings, videos, etc etc. and they are probably good, if not great…..But saying someone is a noob or saying this person is the best is non-sense. Thats like arguing who the best basketball player of all time is… I honestly think the best players are not on the forums.

If I had to make a suggestion for gear to a new ele (WvW), it would be grab some PVT gear. Once you get comfortable playing Ele start swapping pieces as needed.

Roaming build – I would swap Air IX with X, air skills will recharge on crit so taking that additional reduction is not very helpful, as you have 50 CC and 80CD. For Water I would swap out VI with III….get more use out of your cantrips.

The attunement will recharge on crit, not the abilities. My reasoning for Air IX is for the faster knockdown to land dragon tooth and faster blinds so I can try and save my dodges. As for Water III … I normally don’t see a fight where I would be able to use Armor of Earth more than once a fight with or without it, so it would all come down to Lightning Flash. Before the stun break nerf to Lighting Flash, it would have been a no brainer … now … I am not so sure.

Group/Staff Build – Look at swapping Air IX with XI. I would look at swapping FGS with Tornado, because MS + Tornado is awesome. Also, try swapping out Frost Bow with maybe Arcane Shield or Mistform. Arcane shield is very useful to get some of you long casting skills (MS) off and gives you a couple secs when you are waiting for that heal to come off cooldown. If you run this in WvW I would suggest changing food for staff and/or looking at secondary trinkets,rings, etc etc……I would increase vitality,toughness, and healing.

In most of the fights I see in Tier1, I don’t see many opportunities to use Tornado and survive.
What food would you suggest?
I am working on a secondary Celestial trinket set for when I go staff, but its going to take a while as I have so many other characters to gear up. Just finished my Mesmer and working on my necro trinkets now. Playing my Mesmer feels like cheating compared to Ele at equal gear levels.

Sorry, you are correct about Air Trait XII. However, I personally would rather have the 10% damage from Air X. But like you mention, if you would rather reduce recharge to assist with that DT and BF thats your call. In WvW when I roam around I usually run into more 1vX than I do with 1v1s…this is where I would rather take Air X and run D/D. Water VI – I guess would be ok if you can stay above 90 threshold….otherwise that 10% damage is useless if you fall below 90%.

Staff – Cast MS and toward the very end of spell cast, use Tornado you can see your damage increase (double and triple at times). In zerg fights, you may not be able to get this off as nicely as when you may be defending a camp or tower. This is one scenario where you could use Arcane Shield to get off a MS, followed by Tornado. Very good combo to use if enemy zerg coming through choke points.

In WvW I would think about taking or keeping some -% condition duration food on your Ele.
I would look at raising Toughness and possibly Vitality…..Not sure if you want to do it via food/utility but through a couple trinket/accessory change for those.

If you are able to evade/avoid players and your position is good while using staff….then ignore me about Vital/Toughness.

I would like to see some changes made to ele, especially the Fire trait. It seems the Fire trait is useless compared to the other three traits.

For me it is easy to solo with my ele, maybe its your setup on the ele that needs to be tweaked a bit.
