SF/HoD/GoM Week of 11/8/13

Not sure where SF was last night. Between the few hours I spent in the BLs last night, I barely saw any from that server.

On the other hand, GoM brought some significant numbers to each map. They gave us a good fight at Bay in the HoD BL. It was upgraded when they took it, but only a few of us had time to reach the inner keep before it fell. Nice work on the north gate – that may have been the fastest I’ve ever seen a reinforced gate fall! Later, when we pressed to take it back, you held out for a very long time in the throne room, and it ended up being one of the crazier battles I’ve seen. There were several times in a row where I was downed and a GoM player tried to use a finishing move on me, but I got a lucky rally in the nick of time, and I was able to keep going. Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good, eh?

I’m looking forward to our match-up against GoM again in week 6.

That was the end of our “green arrow” event. (Green arrow, as in upleveled) 90% of us were on lowbies. We always try to end the event with a spectacular fail, so we attacked a max upgraded bay. Then we failed at failing. I’m still disappointed.

This is something else we did during green arrow. We ALMOST got HoD’s citadel.

On Gate of Madness, we take our name seriously.

xD that was a beautiful sight to behold. That first HoD push had me dying from laughter (no offence guys but surely your friend told you we had rams there right?), although the end result was as expected. Gotta love having a week like this where we don’t have to stress out to win and can just take a loss with some fun. It was a fun week SF and HoD.

I think that was when we kept throwing rams in inner without checking supply to see what we could do, ended up with four of them or something. Was a blast. Now I have a level 7 Charr Warrior to join in on the leveling aspect. Should be even more fun.

As far as the matchup goes for the past week, it was fun, even if we (GoM) did fall behind. gg all.

Pre-Patch tokens are not account bound.

Has anyone tried getting new tokens to stack with old tokens? (On the same character). Wondering if it’ll refresh them to actually be account bound.

Edit: Forget I asked. Was linked tot he game dev’s post, I just read the first couple of posts.

Well if you’re stuck with what you got…

I’m assuming you dropped all eye candy to low? Your resolution to low? Shadows off… Shaders low. NVidia options on lowest or application controlled. Confirm background programs on your desktop are removed (Start menu > Run… > Enter “msconfig” to disable extra junk that runs).

Carefully research overclocking CPU/GPU. For an older system it’s always good to clear dust which can make cards overheat and throttle to slower speeds. Oh, and you don’t need 1kw PSU unless your going for Tri-SLI or something crazy

All of that was already done :P And the 1kw PSU is cheap for the amount of flexibility it gives. Always leave room to upgrade.

Not meant as anything rude, but the bottle neck is everything you listed.

I had figured as much, I built this back in 2008 was just wondering on the off chance that there might be something I could do to at least get something better in dungeons, I can do them but it would be nice to be a bit more fluid. (I work with what I have)

Swedemon.4670:

Your bottleneck would be in the following order:

Video Card and CPU (a tie)
32bit OS (32bit has issues in GW2)
Memory (at least XP is low memory)

What is your budget? What model power supply do you have? Are you open to swapping parts/building your own?

My budget is currently nothing, I do plan on upgrading but not soon. When I do it will be close to a 1kWatt PS, newer video card to match an i5 quad, with ~8G DDR3 memory, problem is just no budget at the moment for it. Yes, I do build my own/know how to build my own. Was wondering if there was anything I could do with the current system to help it a long a little.

Thanks for the answers.

Edit: I did download a couple programs and saw both the GPU and CPU actually working (Close to 100%) so, I guess that had answered my questions before the posts. Just the system, not a current problem with the game.

Just looking to see if there are any options I can change with my PC to get better performance, here are my specs.

Windows XP 32-bit SP3
Intel Pentium Dual CPU E2200 @ 2.20GHz
Biostar P4M900-M7 FE Motherboard
4G installed RAM, 4-4-4-12 timings DDR2
Nvidia FeForce 9600 GSO Video Card

I’m running at lowest settings and getting about 25-30fps sitting around, 7-10fps in dungeons.

Just wondering if there’s any optimization I can do to increase my framerate/what’s bottle necking me.

I agree with Dead Parrot. Why on earth if they implemented the Character Name thing for GW1 did they not just throw that in for GW2? I’ve also wondered why popular games don’t use on screen keyboards (as some games do) to type in your login info to bypass the possibility for keyloggers. Seems like simple steps to security were overlooked or not implemented yet. But on that note, I’ve also played several games on release, and for serious, this is the absolute WORST case of hackers/spammers/gold sellers I’ve seen at a launch. It’s like they were just sitting there salivating waiting for this game to release -.-

Or you know, Windows OS has it’s own on-screen Keyboard you can use. I’m sure other OS’s should too.
