Your Warband

I have.. a lot of charr. A lot of them are not closely intertwined with each others stories and off the top of my head I do not think I have multiple charr in the same warband. However, some of my friends have made charr that belong to the same warband as some of my characters, such as the Steam warband and War Warband (lol).

Avalix Sootwatcher (Avalix Belus, as she was my first character I made and I didn’t know anything about charr lore at the time) is a young Charr that was left Gladium when the entirety of her warband was ambushed by a Flame Legion raiding party at their station in the Brand. The only reason Ava survived was because she had been sent north to scout ahead by her Legionnaire. When she returned to her camp with her findings all she found was a blood bath and a few straggling goldies. In a desperate effort to avenge her fallen ‘bandmates she attacked the Flame charr and managed to take out those that remained, but at the price of her drake, Snaggletooth’s, life. Refusing to join another warband amidst the urging of her tribunes, she ultimately registered as Gladium and now wanders the world in search of a place that feels like home.

Colias Steamcaller is an Ash Legion Centurion that presides over multiple legionnaires of the Steam Warband. She is very.. large, and can be quite intimidating at first glance, but honestly Colias is just a big ol’ mother hen. She would do anything if it meant keeping her ‘bandmates safe, as long as it doesn’t mean surrendering to any Flamelickers. Her warband often is stationed in various parts of Ascalon to deal with the plague of phantoms, and occasionally to oppose Flame Legion presence when they pop up. Some other members (played by friends) of this warband include Hommut Steamtooth, Bijoux Steamwalker, Ferrala Steamchase and Meer Steamrise.

Iraa Tornthroat is a hot-headed, stubborn and bigoted Blood Legion warrior that got stationed with the rest of her warband in Lake Doric during the White Mantle assault as part of the Charr showing good faith on their treaty / cease-fire negotiations. As you can imagine, she is not too happy about being there. Iraa strongly believes that the humans should fight their own battles, especially since the Charr should be worrying about threats more immediate to them such as controlling the Brand, keeping the ghosts in check and making sure more than a few Flame skulls get cracked together. All her ’bandmates are NPCs besides one: Tex Blisterthroat.

Roarst Sunwalker was my third Charr, a grumpy Flame Shaman. He was born and raised Blood and the high legions were all that he had ever known growing up. However, when his younger sister was tried and convicted of being a Flame Legion spy due to her stance on faith, Roarst began to harbor resentment the longer the trial went on. The tribunal decided execution was a proper punishment and haunted by the (unjust and unwarranted) death of his sibling, Roarst deserted Blood and sought out Flame. Not because he agrees with their ideologies, or their mission, but because that was the biggest “kitten you” he could think of to rub salt into fresh wounds while he enacted vengeance.

Veska Seabound, Durga Dreameater, Basil Plaguebite, Dasva Redcloud, Mieko Dawnreaver, Jaws Rotweaver, Rhagar Shroudreign and Viir the Butcher are all Gladium for one reason or another. Veska is a pirate captain, Durga is a whispers interrogator, Basil is… Basil, Dasva is a cub that was born into Flame but was given a chance at freedom when another charr made their escape and took her with them, Mieko and her brother are fleeing unfortunate circumstance, Rhagar is a mercenary and Viir kinda hunts down criminals and deals with them. Brutally.

Vaxile Pridebane, Vyre Sweetfire, Caas Grimdrake, Rahl Rouselight, Ossa Onyxblood and Orus Warsong all have warbands but if I listed many more in big blurbs I’d fear for the length of this post. Vaxile’s warband is made up of misfits pulled from their fahrar’s for one reason or another. The Sweet Warband (Vyre’s) volunteers at an orphanage. Caas is the head of a decent sized splinter-faction of Blood legion charr that operate independently in the Fields of Ruin. Rahl is currently waiting for her warband to make it to the agreed rendezvous point in case they were ever separated, Ossa is a powerful Druid who has been exposed to celestial magic so often her blood now runs black instead of red and Orus Warsong is a warrior that leads battle anthems when their warband marches to war.

I am personally leaning toward Path of Fire or something another person in one of my guilds suggested: Pillars of Faith. Path of [fire| seems more likely now though after the name of LS episode 6 “One Path Ends” (and another begins).

[Suggestion] Wyvern & Saurian Tonics

I support this suggestion. Would really love to see a tonic for the adult wyvern model or the smokescales, rolling devils etc. Maybe even a pocket raptor tonic to give some poor soul a minor heart attack haha.

Another person here who has the bug where Aurene won’t attack the Ooze generators. I have tried allowing the ooze to kill her, to kill me, to kill us both at the same time before ressing, restarting the whole story step, etc. It’s been over an hour and I think I am done for tonight. This is a really frustrating bug seeing as I cannot progress to the new content any other way than through the story. Hope it gets fixed soon.

Yeah, charr hair colors are inaccurate. It’s annoying, but you can just pay attention to the preview instead of the color. xD

It isn’t so much the fact that they’re inaccurate that miffs me, it’s that while both of the more humanoid races get nice, diverse colors, charr are stuck with a general light beige/sandy and dirty blonde range. And when I say a range, I mean 8 colors that are light beige/sand and 2 colors that are dirty blonde. Meanwhile both humans and sylvari get a nice range of darker browns and lighter beige/sand/whatever have you. Colors aren’t my strong point.

How come all of the races have different color selections under the same name? Because they.. aren’t the same color. Mind you, I don’t have an Asura or Norn to check theirs, but I have checked Charr, Sylvari and humans for the new colors, and I am confused? Why give them all different colors (under the same names)? I mean, Charr mahogany.. isn’t mahogany, for example. It’s dirty blonde if anything.

Maybe it’s just because as a Charr main, I feel they got the short end of the stick in this as all of their new selections feel relatively the same where as humans and sylvari feel more diverse, but I’d really like to know the logic behind this decision?

If you doubt that this is the fact, here, have a comparison image

I’ll even attach the comparison to the bottom for those who don’t wanna go to the image link, for whatever reason.

Druid question

As far as I am aware, you will only be able to access the elite specializations (the ones released with HoT, at least) by purchasing Heart of Thorns. So in this case I sadly don’t believe there is a way other than buying the expansion that would allow you to play as a Druid.

Elite Specializations & Hero Point Feedback [Merged]

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Right now, I’m kind of on the fence. When I originally read that we’d need 400 HP to unlock the elite specialization (presumably per character as well, since why wouldn’t it be? It’s still a specialization), I wasn’t happy. I’m still not happy, but after sleeping on it I’ve decided that at this point I’d like to see how it’ll play out.

• We know it takes 60 points to unlock it initially, with the first minor trait being what we’ll be unlocking (I think? Not sure if it was confirmed).
• We know that HPs in the Maguuma Jungle give us 10HP instead of 1HP like in Central Tyria.
• We know we can unlock HPs through Notarized Scrolls (/of Maguuma), but it would take quite a lot of rank ups and cost many BoH to do this repeatedly / completely through WvW
• We know that the 400 points includes the trait line, the utility skills + healing + elite, and the cosmetic items.

However..

• We don’t know how many points it takes to unlock all the traits, the healing skill, the utilities and the elite, and how that number compares to those that are used to unlock the cosmetic items.
• We also don’t know how challenging the HPs in the Maguuma Jungle will be. I’d be surprised if none of them required masteries to get to, but would any of them require the highest tier in certain masteries? (Looking at ley-line gliding very pointedly).

Basically, while it has been confirmed that there are enough HPs in the Maguuma Jungle to unlock the specialization, we do not know how many of those we would be able to access without masteries. Or what the highest tier in masteries is required for HPs in the jungle.

So.. yeah. While we theoretically could get all the HPs we need from the Maguuma Jungle as there are at least 40, that doesn’t mean we’d be able to get them all right away, rush through them, et cetera. Until you get masteries, it could be that you’d only be able to access a small portion of them. Or it could be that you could access a majority, minus a few in tricky locations requiring masteries.

Like I said, at this point I’m just going to wait and see what everything looks like tomorrow. Maybe we’ll see a response by a dev that clears some things up before then, maybe we wont. No use worrying so much about something we haven’t gotten to try yet, even if dissatisfied at the description. Especially if they don’t plan on responding / don’t have the time to, before the launch. It could be as bad as we are imagining it, but there is the possibility that it also might not be.

Trying to be optimistic, I suppose. Especially as someone with an alt problem lol.

If my worst fears for this system are confirmed tomorrow? Yeah, you’ll probably see me again, but until then.. happy gaming?

I actually think it was really cool to stumble across this NPC while exploring, and I was delighted to see her dialogue very positive, both when she interacts with the Lionguard and the Player character! Many thanks indeed.
