Easy, faceroll content is a huge part of what is killing WoW, and it was horrible in this game too until very recently. This is why I never got map comp even at 7k+ap. I am loving exploring the map now! It’s encouraging me to go after silly mushroom masteries just to explore and be able to handle it more!
I want better gear! I want to go full ascended! I want masteries! The content must be hard for me to pursue these goals.
This is not how I used to play. I normally am a queue junkie. So thank you Anet! Keep the content refreshing! Keep it challenging!
Level a class you enjoy pvping with to 50. Halt all leveling. Start playing matches. All loot will be level 50 from reward tracks. Salvage that loot.
To get even more, do Silverwastes on an 80. Keep all the bags, put them into a bank, give to the 50. Salvage the kitten ton of 50 gear
Instant linen.
A) You first make the vertical progression bigger! (“It is a challenging goal that should be rewarded.”).
and then say
B) Then say Ascended gear is for bads (“You can play in Rares and handle the content if you’re good enough.”)
I mean, man what? No sense was made.
Also lengthy grind != “challenging goal”.
I appreciate the edit, this is what I was wanting! I’m just saying that once the goal is reached, it’s done.
I’m mostly talking about armor since you can get trinkets and weapons with ease. This leaves a micro increase otherwise at the current state. I was actually excited to see that ascended was getting a boost and wanted to shine a light on how it wasn’t a bad thing that would affect anyone else that didn’t want it at all.
I haven’t made full ascended. I want a reason to.
I’m arguing against WoW, your response sounds like a WoW players.
WoW is vert progression because level cap changes. We do not need to worry about it. Once you have ascended, you’re done for good. That is not vertical. It is both horizontal and vert, a plateau if you will.
Make points, not whines
Proof the community is withering. They can’t read and respond without getting sarcastic.
Let’s have a legitimate debate, not an argument. Make a point.
Those aren’t legitimate arguments. Read the whole thing. Give me a good reason not to have it be a worthy stat increase. One really good, thought out reason.
I would like to hear your crazy definitions of vertical progression. It’s def based around level cap increases not a single goal. The game is fine with any tier of gear. No one needs ascended.
There is no one checking your dps. It’s not wow.

Let’s talk about vertical progression in mmos: a grind for items that allows one to play the most difficult content at the given time. A key part is that the level cap gets raised when the developers run out of ideas or the publisher needs some pay, thus starting up another grind to get the highest level gear.
Ascended gear on the other hand has set values across the board and there will be no level cap increase. Ascended gear is not a vertical grind. It is a challenging goal that should be rewarded.
5 percent is pittance for the time and energy put in for meh skins. Every lvl 80 player can get ascended trinkets and even weapons in nearly no time at all. It’s not hard, and it’s def not required. You can play in Rares[yellows] and handle the content [if you’re good enough].
So man up. Don’t whine about something that isn’t vertical progression [at all]. Perfectionists are the only ones that were upset because they felt “obligated to fully gear all my toons with full ascended”. That’s bs and you know it…
Stop with these posts please. Ascended should be hard work otherwise the gear isn’t cool. I like it being a pain to get the gear. I enjoy the sense of accomplishment whenever I complete a piece of a set. You can stay and play the exotic game if you want and no one else would know the difference.
Let us enjoy the carrot on the stick. I want pink letters on all my gear. Why?! Not the minor stats. Rather it is something nice to be continually working on.
Thank you! This was a very helpful post that convinced to finish the project of crafting full ascended.
I doubt it will be sword as it brings nothing new to the table.
Seems like they were testing something using the dagger/dagger style as a kind of template. The sword abilities from what we saw are nearly identical to them. I can’t imagine them being that absolutely uncreative.
Plus, one of the data mined moves is called ‘Cone of Cold’ aka a frost mage spell in WoW….that’s not even a clever placeholder. We already have a “cone of cold” anyway, that being the 2 skill on ele’s dagger.

The Elementalist will hopefully not get sword but rather short bow. If you have played Legend of Zelda, then you know how cool attuning arrows can be.
Reasons:
- The Ele is the King of Hybrids and shortbows have been hybrid based on both thief and ranger.
- Shortbow needs some love. Sword does not.
- Melee mages are already well covered in GW2 while ranged tactics are currently limited.
- Attuning Arrows!!!!!
Hopefully I’ve made my point.
I feel the weapons that are already in plenty of builds will be ignored for the new specs. I see torch, rifle, and or short bow getting the love.
Place your bets. Do you really think we need more melee mage builds?
You may not want it, but I feel torch fits with the class wayyy too well and that it will probably be the new weapon. Not only that, but giving the torch to the very popular warrior might help people’s perspective on it. Torch isn’t that bad. Really lol. Especially in pvp.
My bets:
Warrior- Torch
Revenant: Pistol [Rytlock]
Thief- Rifle
Ele – either bow
Guardian- Warhorn or Axe
Not that easy, Vegeta. Items get bought up quickly at good prices on there. He would have to have perfect timing to get it.
I feel there needs to be a trade option where both parties agree before the transaction is complete or a private trade system in the trading post [maybe there is one.]
Even runescape….bloody runescape had better trading.

You’re right, the 99 percent should not have been used. I figured no one would take it that seriously. I’m just saying this from guild/map/forum/friend discussion, but it is not a be all end all. I’m glad to hear some people like it. I definitely don’t hate it. It’s just so tedious.
Games are meant to be fun, and what I meant is that the New player experience is not fun for alts, at least for me.
An option would be worth the time and effort I feel.
It’s not horrible, but it’s a bit of a downer that we feel the need to skip through it.

They could leave the later level up bonuses if needed, but if they could just bring back the old way of obtaining weapon skills, I would be so happy!
I honestly don’t think it would be that difficult.
It’s not horrible, but it’s a bit of a downer that we feel the need to skip through the first 20 levels. It’s been awhile now since the New Player Experience [NPE] started, and I feel even worse about it. It’s boring af for 99 percent of us [number pulled out of kitten , don’t take it seriously. just a guesstimate!]
What happened to the weapon skill unlocking as you play? I really enjoyed that style. I thought originality was a large part of GW2. It’s got to be still in code somewhere. Please add it back in the options and leave the NPE as the default. As simple as that.
I get that the ‘studies’ show that NPE is better for beginners, but why must the entire game need to be changed for someone that can’t press control/mouse 2 for 5 levels? Please respect the intelligence of everyone else. NES/SNES players would be disappointed in this hand-holding, and most of us that play are adults of that era. If not, does the director of Anet want the game to be as alt friendly as WoW aka not at all? Thoughts?

During story missions, I have started removing my headphones and moving to speakers to avoid the intense hiss coming with every ‘s’. Maybe I’m the only one to notice since I do audio recording, but it pulls me out of immersion. I don’t think the actors are to blame. A change in mic placement will help too.
Throw on a Desser effect, and all will be good.
White whine over
Excellent game, minor complaint. Just a simple improvement for the audiophiles out there.
