Best build for PvE can be found here: http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/83915-axemace-dps-build-for-dungeons-and-fractals-101513/
Axe 5 is Garbage and Mace 4 is a 4% party wide DPS boost
Another setup besides 30/25 is to run this:
Not quite optimal but it allowed me to learn how to effectively DPS as Sword/WH when I was first starting out. You can swap the traits and utilities as needed and swap the Scholar Runes for Ruby orbs if you’re tight on funds.
30/25/0/15/0
Armor/Trinkets/Weps: Full Zerk w/ Scholar Runes
Sword/Warhorn
Traits- 30/0/0/10/30 for max DPS
Armor/Accessories- Everything Zerker. If you’re not comfortable running full Zerk switch some pieces out for knights until you feel you can survive.
Runes- Scholar Runes. If you find you can’t stay above 90% hp 24% of the time then use ruby orbs
Weapons should all be Zerker:
Sigil of Force/Night on Axe
Sigil of Battle on Mace
Sigil of Force/Night on GS
Sigil of Force on LB
Sigil of Perception on Warhorn
Sigil of Energy on Shield (for Lupicus)
You lose both a 15% crit boost and a 15% damage boost FOR ALL ABILITIES. Quite frankly using it on a skill that, if it doesn’t crit, is completely worthless is revolting. The damage is negligible as you can very well deal higher DPS when you have a full adrenaline bar to take full advantage of both passives. I’ll also reiterate what I said above you should be Eviscerating ONLY at the end of the fight to maximize your DPS.
As for traited banners, while decent, is no where near the efficiency of running “Empower Allies” having a 150 power boost (8% according to Nike) for your whole team. However if another Warrior is already running “Empower Allies” then I would take Traited Banners.
Take the 10 out of Arms and put it into Tactics for “Empowered Allies” 150 power boost for your whole team is much better than a negligible crit boost (which you can get from fury). Also replace Rifle with a Longbow, the DPS from a LB is higher than a Rifles as well as having more utility and the ability to stack might.
As for runes you want to run with Scholar Runes, if you’re not comfortable with your skills in being able to stay above 90% hp 24% of the time then Ruby Orbs are for you albeit at a slight DPS loss.
As for your traits you should have Heightened Focus for your Grandmaster, in the Discipline line, instead of Burst Mastery as Eviscerate should only be used at the end of the fight, when the boss is just about dead, for a slight DPS boost.
