Suggestion for future World and TM Skins
in Super Adventure Box: Back to School
Posted by: Chaoticbutthead.3245
So I just finished getting every Storm Wizard weapon available, just in time before SAB disappears.
I know how A.Net loves a money sink but I think it would be awesome if instead of requiring us to buy the weapon blueprints again at 2G a pop (totalling 30G in my case) for the next worlds but instead that you could use a pre-existing King Toad or Storm Wizard weapon instead. So for World 3 it would require the three tokens and a blueprint OR a pre-existing Tribulation weapon.
After running TM enough times to get every yellow skin possible, I managed to get the torch blue skin. I just assumed you don’t get skin drops from running TM until that dropped yesterday. Pretty disappointing that after nearly 50 runs of World 2 zones I got one skin.

I haven’t bumped it as the videos aren’t uploaded yet. I did 2-3 in 14:50, but I’m still working on 2-2 without dying. With 2 deaths at the end I was at like 13 min or something. I also beat all those world 1 times to be under 4 mins (under 3 for 1-1).
Been waiting to see your 2-3 run. Wondering what you did to get it down to <15 mins. Best I’ve done is 24 minutes, with about half a dozen deaths. It seems every time I get past the 2nd trib cloud without dying it wants to kill me on stupid lag deaths in the ice spike room.
It’ll get posted soon. It leaves a little more to chance, but you could run into the 3rd cloud (by the barrel) and use the short invuln to run over the spikes to the end.
Yeah I’ve tried that a few times. I find I have the timing down for the second half of the room on the raised platform, when I don’t accidentally bump into that cloud. It’s usually the long jump off the second no-no cloud to the open space that gets me or that small jump up to the raised level. The game does it’s whole “you’re not on the ice so I push forward just a bit and then zoom across the ice into spikes” kinda junk.
That and I seem to always get killed by the 1st phase of the storm wizard no matter how careful I try to be. That guys a prick.

I have no idea if it is working (would need to be tested), but could you backtrack over the clouds from the shop next to the room where motos finger is? Because then it would be possible to get another key. Or was the shopkeeper there not selling one?
The shop keep does sell a key there, however I don’t think its possible to jump back. The clouds that lead to the 3 cloud set right before the door are too high to jump back on, I think. I haven’t confirmed but I would imagine that’s the case.
I’ve gotten an entire run of World 2 in one go (lots of deaths) down to 70 minutes. Hoping to get that under 60 minutes. I’ve managed to get past the trib clouds in 2-3 without dying but got cheap shotted by the bananas. I put no death runs on the back burner right now. Just focusing on getting yellow skins right now.

Had it happen to me as well. Seems like you have to double down on your gluttony.

Unfortunately yes, you will need to restart. Had it happen to me once as well.

As I told I have a try as we’ll it’s actually a pretty bad but still not to slow since I use another route than normaly and wanted to share it:)
You might can speeden up the run with this jump
It’s faster than the 4:46 or what it is still it’s a pretty bad run/ you could do many things better I don’t really have the time to spend on this but you might wanna give it a go and try to beat whatever is current best time ( since I think the trick with jumping over to the honey bee isn’t that known ) I just found it out of pure fear from other Spikes if I don’t go all way up there:)
I like your shortcut. Definitely bypasses the randomness of the fake out blocks in the canyon. Crigger also found a shortcut after that that may shave off a few more seconds. I think his record is around 3:29 now. I am not really a speed runner myself. Really just wanted to have the chance to say I beat them without dying.

This isn’t as bad as learning the way through Ninja Gaiden for the NES back in the day. That was step-by-step brute force fail method of learning.
“Ok. So, half second pause, then jump or the bird bops you to doom…”
“Ok. So, pause, jump… and immediately jump again…”
“Ok. So, pause, jump, jump… and slash or die…”
etc etc etcOdd thing is, I can’t remember getting angry at that back then.
I think the difference is those games didn’t have latency issues. You never started bouncing on a mushroom bouncer to die mid-air because the game suddenly assumed your constant forward movement put you in the swamp water even though your screen shows you in the air.
Same goes for games like Super Meat Boy. I love me some SMB and it’s obviously superior because the controls are all about your timing, not your connection speed. That said I still play the hell out of SAB.

She must be related to Derek Zoolander, she can only turn left.
cute
Hehe. I was thinking the same thing. Adorable and to the left.

Very nice. Shaved about 90 seconds off of my run until I got to the logs. Need to get better at just straight running them instead of using the bear room.

So only 2-1 done so far. Wouldn’t call it a speed run but it is the whole thing without dying. Will edit and add more as they come. Working on Zone 2 tonight but not looking like I’ll get it. But never give up! Never surrender!

AFAIK our group got the first 4-man 2-3 Trib Mode completion, and we almost got a 5-man completion, but had an unlucky DC at the end last night.
I honestly couldn’t imagine trying with a group. My last 2-3 run was about 35 minutes and hoping to get better with more runs but I don’t have any guildies I think could keep up. Props to you as well.

Actually, I already posted these. I cant see the videos, but judging off length, I think I’m faster. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/livingworld/sab-bts/Do-you-even-SAB-bro/first#post2802693
Props to you sir. You are indeed faster and I learned some new ways to try (if I ever go back to World 1). You jump-dodge a lot more than me. I wasn’t going for speed runs honestly but I figured it would show up better on the Youtubes naming it that.
Sorry I missed your hard mode post. I looked through the forums but just got tired of reading complain posts
No worries. I know the feeling. Hard to find the HC crowd that actually enjoys SAB through all the complaining, which is why I posted.

Somebody had to do it, so I figured why not me? Who needs lives anyways (both in and out of game).
No one posted about trying my Hard Mode run. Since there doesn’t seem to be anyone up for the challenge I decided to one up myself. I’ve completed each of the zones in World 1 without dying once. And the video quality is good this time!

SAB Tribulation World 1 Zone 1 & 2 Hard Mode
in Super Adventure Box: Back to School
Posted by: Chaoticbutthead.3245
So I’ll start with saying I love SAB and the jumping puzzles in the game. I bought the infinite coin and struggled through the paths on my own with no guides. But it wasn’t enough! So I made up some rules and started running what I call Hard Mode. The rules are simple:
1) No cloud checkpoints
2) No more than 3 lives
I say 3 lives because when you first enter SAB you start with 3 lives. There is some bug (maybe intentional) when you have to restart a zone that only gives you 2 lives. I believe World 1 is do-able with just a single life but World 2 would be too much with the placements of the Tribulation Clouds. So I settled on 3 lives since that is supposed to be the default.
So far I’ve finished Zone 1 and Zone 2 of World 1. Will add more videos as I finish them. Videos are a little choppy, will run them again and clean it up. Post here if you are up to take the challenge!

Same here. Just finished it, made a King Toad greatsword but no Glutton for Punishment. Still at 2/3. Bugged it myself. Le sigh. Buggy buggy buggy.
Heyo. I just want to say that I’ve been running a life siphon build and I feel pretty tanky in dungeons next to most other classes. I’m running a full set of exotic Clerics gear and masterwork sapphire accessories. Of course it requires a dedicated set of equipment and accessories to really make it work and doing so sacrifices heavy damage output or condition building. But when it comes to survivability in mobs I think Necromancer is up there. This is what I run.
http://en.gw2codex.com/build/21851-life-siphon-necro
Basically with 3 wells and all of them having the ability to siphon life (one that is a heal as well), as well as siphoning whenever I hit something, even more on crits, and a base HP of 21K just from traits, and then a full bar of Death Shroud, I’ve been able to withstand a lot of brawls. Not to mention Necro has the get-out-of-jail free card that is Skill 3 in Death Shroud. Anytime I get pulled or and kind of CC, I immediately jump into DS just to fear them away. It’s a free action regardless of state. Even if that’s on CD you have Spectral Walk to break stuns and get away if things get hairy. And the minion just because I like having at least one fool running around. Plus he’s the only way I can do any decent damage to objects. As long as you space your wells out well (ha) then you could become nigh unstoppable. Plus, you can swap traits around life making life transfer heal allies, and now you are suddenly a heal/tank.
This build lacks heavy single-target damage but can do a lot to a whole group of folks. If you hit all 3 wells and use your staff skills you can throw down mobs in no time. But then you leave yourself vulnerable while you wait for CDs. Also, can’t really hurt objects, especially if its out of range for the daggers and you are left using staff.
It’s not a perfect class but the life siphon mechanics work well to me.
