It honestly depends on what tier of play you’re in. In low tier games, people can’t stay alive for the life of them and high sustain, high damage team fighters carry the day. I’d much rather shamble mid on a warrior, guard, or necro and cleave everyone down with AoE because they’re bad, then win a simple, predictable match than try to create pressure with a thief.

It’s at higher tier games, where people don’t just die within 10 seconds of a fight starting, that classes like thief or mesmer start to shine – that’s where you need to create mismatches and push people out of position to win, which thief and mesmer excel at.

Plus, if you genuinely belong in bronze / silver the skills needed to yoyo and force bad match-ups on a thief or mesmer are going to be a lot harder to master, and less fruitful in the short run, than learning how to not die on a warrior or guardian and using one of those two sledgehammers to piledrive the trash on the other team. Low end players don’t have small windows of opportunity to capitalize on, they’re wide open doors of failure. Drive the biggest truck you can through it.

The points gained in relation to the time it takes to relog don’t really give them an advantage.

Only if your gaming on a potato, Going to the character screen and back into the match takes 6 seconds or less.

Your way through gold is to coordinate your team pre match. Go in assuming they’re scrubs and they probably will be.

Stuck in wall

I have had several times that someone with a knockback, knocks me into a wall (literally into it). Next I am stuck in there and cant get out, unless an enemy kills me with aoe through the wall,
but if they dont, then i am stuck there all game.

Would be welcome if they fix this and implement some button or option to get free or respawn at base or so.

Otherwise a knockback can basically turn a game into 4v5.

I used to hate this map so much at first but I learnt to love it. It is thanks to this map I managed to become an even better player at countering all the pulls and push tricks.

Heidia- The elementalist is the #1 most OP profession in this game since beta!

I’m sad to say that I’ll be leaving ArenaNet after 8 years with the company, and it’s been an amazing ride!

I’ve chatted with many of you on vent, we’ve debated on State of the game, we’ve tossed ideas back and forth on the forums, and I’ve met many of you in person at various cons!

It has been my privilege, pleasure and honor to work with such a passionate and intelligent group of fans. You guys have always kept me honest, you’ve pushed me to better myself, and your ideas have helped to create GW2’s success – we couldn’t have done it without you. How hard can it be ?

There are so few players left that I often can’t find a 5v5 game with enough players in it.

However, all those 8v8 hotjoin abortions are filled.

Get rid of the 8v8 please

Now, I’ve made these suggestions before and people have said “But I don’t want to have to queue, hotjoin allows me to get a quick game in and leave whenever I want”. I don’t really think this holds up, GW2 games are quite short compared to MOBA games, and the queue time + game time rarely adds up to more than 20 minutes.

playing in hotjoin games are like playing in counter strike or team fortress 2 public servers, i am free to jump in and drop out anytime i wish.

total freedom of playing.
i can just join another official anet public hotjoin servers and enjoy some chaotic mess. this is not possible in solo arena or team arena.
this is also why i do not play dota 2.

again, the official public hotjoin servers by anet must stay.

what counters thief?

Pretty much every class will beat a thief 1v1. A thief excels at spiking targets softened targets in teamfights as well as ganking unsuspecting players traveling between nodes. Because of a thief’s high mobility, they are great at capping undefended nodes and if you are trying to assault a node 1v1, a thief’s help will end the fight pretty quickly. xD
