While doing Karka Queen today it had died before I could even run to the boss itself. I was involved in the capture events leading up to it so it wasn’t an issue of me arriving too late. This is ridiculous, no world boss should die in under two minutes!
Have any of you actually tried recording your drops over a period of time? I have, and they tend towards a consistent rate as long as you are not triggering diminishing returns.
Also, as I said earlier, it is all about CONSISTENT INCREMENTAL ADVANTAGE, find a routine that works for you and stick to it.
We all have to get the same components together to craft each legendary, if you are having difficulty it is more than likely a problem with your approach (or attitude) not the mechanics of crafting the item.
I don’t play the market to speak of, but I do make smart purchases when they present themselves.
A majority of my materials come from drops and salvaging, the rest come from promotion through the mystic forge.
And by no means was I advocating the use of laurels as a primary source of T6 materials, I was just mentioning that they were an alternative source for the material boxes that OP had mentioned first.
I personally don’t like that there are so many 1-hit kills, and that they are inconsistent in their counters. The shadows are beaten by blind, but damage negation, invulnerability, blocking, and aegis do not work; but they do work on shadowfall.
It took me 3 days and over 900 tickets to beat Liadri. I tried every single class, and a number of builds all fully decked out in either exotic or ascended armor with ascended or legendary weapons.
The issues that I had were not skill based, or even gear based they were an issues of pure luck.
I used the right builds, I used the right gear, I used every kitten booster, and the right foods; I have the every pattern from start to finish memorized every orb, every light circle, every clone spawn, and every shadowfall; none of these were able to make up for the glitches in the arena.
Literally HUNDREDS of times I was instantly killed by shadowfalls that I was nowhere near, or Liadri Clones that where on the other side of the arena; and several times by the arena dumping me out with over a minute left on the clock.
I know it wasn’t my machine, I was running at 120 FPS; I doubt it was my connection, as I have a dedicated line specifically for gaming.
The only things I can think of is either a synchronization issue on the server side, or some kind of glitch with megaservers.
I don’t care if you guys think it was easy or hard, I want to see the technical issues sorted out. If it weren’t for the glitches, I would have finished the second or third run, but as it were it took exactly 983 tickets to kill her.
THAT IS KITTENING INSANE!
Some tips from someone now crafting their 16th legendary…
Crafting your legendary is basically a matter of building incremental advantage until the obstacle is trivial.
In this case the obstacle is the quantity of materials required to craft a legendary and advantage in this context is essentially your in game wealth.
So, on to creating incremental advantage.
0) Break it down into little goals; write them down; check them off as you go. This will help to keep you motivated.
I personally set goals for each of my materials in chunks of 25 and Icy Lodestones on the 10s.
Precursors are their own mini goal broken down into either increments of gold or materials depending on how I am acquiring them.
1) Play a little every day if you can. 1-2 hours, more if you can.
2) Do your dailies. Those material boxes can be had for 1 laurel each (They have 3 random t6 mats each), Dyes can also be purchased for laurels.
3) Do a dungeon every day, just 1 path a day will earn you enough gold and tokens to fast track your legendary.
I like running SE because it is fast and easy for me, your mileage may vary.
4) Save all of your materials, wait until you have a significant quantity to sell before posting them on the trading post, this will discourage impulse buys with your gold.
5) Don’t buy anything with your gold unless it is directly related to your legendary.
6) Do 2-3 World bosses each day. (more if you can stand it)
7) If you don’t have your precursor yet, save all of your rares and exotics of the same weapon type; once you get a multiple of 4 toss them into the Mystic Forge, sometimes you will get lucky.
You can use dungeon tokens to get rares for this.
I also save up my T5 materials and slowly build up 7-800 of the components to craft rares of the same type to throw into the mystic forge.
8) Salvage or sell rares and exotics that don’t match your precursor’s weapon type.
I recommend Mystic Salvage Kits if you don’t have Black Lion Kits, you should have no trouble getting Mystic Stones for them if you are doing your dailies.
Mystic Stones are easily acquired from AP chests, dailies, and map completion rewards.
9) Ecto salvage into dust and essences of luck, once you have the base 250 that you need for gift salvage every one that you get.

In all honesty I’ve blown a few grand on gems since the 3day head start and release… That being said there have been a few time where I honestly raged hard over the difference of what I thought I was buying and what I actually got, some to the point where I wanted a refund (which you cannot get without closing your account).
I have never bought gems with gold (except for a few times where I accidentally traded gems for gold and then traded the gold back for gems, taking a pretty steep loss.); Mainly because I believe in supporting the development of products that I like. (In full disclosure, I am also a software developer.)
My wife and I play together, we played before we even started dating over 8 years ago. When we where both away for University, we would have “dates” where we would run missions together, farm Underworld, or just play through the storyline.
We have been huge supporters of the Guild Wars franchise since the first beta weekend for Guild Wars (Prophecies, but at the time its was just Guild Wars) . Kitten, we even played Aion for a few weeks too when they had the wings emote promotion.
While I love playing Guild Wars 2 there are many things that make me sad at times, such as bugs going unresolved for months at a time, removal of useful features or lines of play (e.g. Life steal vs Invulnerable enemies), and an overall loss of customization compared to the original Guild Wars series.
I’m sorry to derail the thread a bit, I just thought I should get that off my chest.
I also ran into this bug while completing my dailies for sPvP. Please fix.

I was greatly offended by the parody of The New Colossus; it felt like a spit in the face.
A work symbolizing the struggles of those looking to provide a better life for their families is not an acceptable target for a poor attempt at viral marketing.
Oh, and that spin on The New Colossus is a very tasteful comparison. I mean, on one hand, we have actual poor, tired immigrants, and on the other, we have a contest that can save you $30 on a game by recording yourself pledging allegiance to a game you very likely haven’t played before. I got on a guy a while back for appropriating FDR’s Infamy Speech in his complaint about the introduction of ascended gear to the game, and this isn’t any better.
This isn’t anywhere near the worst marketing campaign I’ve see for a game, but I’m disappointed to see GW2 rolling with it. If marketing wants to engage players by dramatizing the struggle against the dragons, or the frequently evolving world, that’s great, but if they’re going to dramatize the business model, I see no reason for players not to be just as dramatic about imagined injustices like gem store armor, ascended gear, grind, etc.
Edit: The video looked silly and fun. It’s…basically the rest of it that I’m rolling my eyes at.
Exotic Discovery's Reset
in Super Adventure Box: Back to School
Posted by: Charles Peter Nystrom.5923
I’m with OP here. The issue is the cost and/or unavailability of the appropriate materials to get back to the point that we are already at. I too have every discoverable recipe unlocked for all 8 crafting professions and spent ridiculous amounts of time and gold to do such.
Resetting anything that is unlocked with a cost is a terrible way to go about this and will only make people who put effort into crafting early angry.
I know that I will be angry enough to punch a baby if my discoveries are reset and I’m sure that a good number of others will be upset too.
The best solution is to retroactively award equivalent XP and Crafting levels to those of us who have already unlocked exotics through discovery instead of punishing us for crafting earlier in the game.
4. Wallet Interface – I believe it would be better served if it was relocated. This is a picky point, but it is WAY too big, in my opinion. We don’t need huge pictures. Since we carry it with us all the time, I honestly think it would be better served as a tab below the bags on the inventory pane. This would also make it easier to check while doing other tasks. Having it in the H screen makes it very cumbersome and harder to look at on the fly, since it basically blocks out the entire screen.
I would prefer that, too, actually. Makes way more sense to me.
As for your list, I would like to add,
- Please add event-based currencies to the wallet. It makes little sense to have a wallet for some currencies, but not others.
Oh My Gods, This…. This SOOOOOOOOO Hard!
I have 3 bank tabs full of holiday / event / festival / flavor of the (bi)week currencies.
It is getting pretty ridiculous.
Adding them to the wallet would also be a good opportunity to migrate all of the tickets and other temporary currencies from Soul Bound to Account Bound.
That would allow players to manage these items effectively and solve the rage associated with getting a Soul Bound currency on a character that cannot effectively utilize it.
I hate to point others to outside sources for this instead of providing a concrete example, but the best explanation of the process and potential pitfalls for loading certificates from jar resources that I have found are:

(Sorry for bumping an older thread, I believe this is still relevant)
To have Factions not come to us in Guild Wars 2 due to political correctness is an insult. An insult to all other cultures that “aren’t special enough” to be kept from lore. All the cultures in the Guild Wars universe are blended versions of several cultures, and if this happened with all nationalities we would never have lore in video games at all!
It hurt to find out that I couldn’t look forward to an expansion to Cantha. Factions is where we first see the idea of peace between races as a major theme in the lore, which is now a central theme in Guild Wars 2. In a game that is about bringing people together despite their differences, why are we bringing it apart?
The solution is to stop the random chance items and let people purchase what they want to have from the event.
The purchasable skins were a step in the right direction, the random boxes on the other hand are complete and utter bullkitten. I feel like I was screwed out of a considerable sum of money through purchasing them.
I personally collect all costumes and minis that come out for special events, I’ve been doing this from the beginning in Guild Wars Prophecies. I have pre-ordered and purchased collector’s editions of every game from the franchise. I have purchased every possible upgrade from GW1 and in the course of put several thousand dollars into the franchise (I maintain accounts for myself, my fiance and several family members).
The solution is to build a sustainable brand, not make quick cash; If I had dealt with this kind of greed when I first started with GW in 2005 I would have quit a long time ago.
Don’t kill a good thing and lose a number of customers due to short sightedness and greed.
I am angry because I have opened quite a few of the winters day gifts (80 at this point) and didn’t get any minis. There should have been a three pack like we had for Halloween, there should have been one for the lost shores event as well but at least those are not account bound. I have always enjoyed collecting minis but I am not a fan of throwing away money for garbage, buy garbage I mean tonics I will not use. Several others in my guild have had a similar experience with the gifts and are getting sick of throwing away money. There needs to be an alternative to blowing $100+ for nothing.
