with the utter lack of skill required to play this game, absolutely no truely engaging high level content and no meaningfulful player interaction along with dire guild support the only thing anet need to worry about is a mass exodus of players to Guild Wars 1.

Refund on Molten Alliance Mining Pick

The only real argument that can be made against these picks (and it’s a very strong case) is the vertical progression one. The gem store has always had items in it which give you an arguably slight in game economic advantage.
The gathering booster and the magic find booster.

I don’t really have a problem with this item being in the gem store and not available at an “in game” merchant, i can always convert my gold to gems and purchase it that way. What i do find disturbing is the clear vertical progression of this item.
You bought an everlasting pick last week that only mines ore (with a chance for a gem)? It’s outdated now.
On a slightly different note, but still related to this item what i find astounding is that there is no mention of the sprocket bonus at all, anywhere, in the gem store description of this item.

Team drop rate vs solo

Charrming Vase.4572

Frostgorge champion train runners are constantly asking to join a team in order to get a better drop rate for loot. Surely this is misguided nonsense perpetrated by ill informed rumour?
What possible evidence is there to suggest that by being in a team rather than playing solo i will obtain a better loot rate?

Having given this some more thought whilst waiting for the trading post to be repaired i have inevitably reached the same conclusion. Even given the widest possible definitions of the word FUN this does not fall into any of them, however it does fit nicely into the terms STUPID and BORING

As clarified by others here, there are graphics Options on F11.
For me, i love this new look, it actually looks more like GW1 now, and i’m seeing a small extra boost to my fps, which means on my heap of junk pc i might be able to turn up the settings a wee bit.

Let me explain how this works

The more you mess up, the less gems you will sell. And a new campaign or expansion, forget about it until this one runs a little smoother

The answer to small guilds progressing through the guild mission tree and unlocking trek, rush, challenge and puzzle is surprisingly simple (though i admit will involve a time commitment from the guild)
Add a Guild Merit to the reward for guild bounty training.

Features from GW1 to GW2?

Charrming Vase.4572

This is easy, in gw1 i could play with my local group of friends on EU servers, then when i wanted to play with my American podcasting friends i could swap to US servers and play alongside them. Now i’m on Gandara with my local friends in a small guild and my American mates are over on Henge of Denravi, and can i join in when they do bounties and the like or help them explore the new open world content Flame and Frost? No i freaking can’t. Fix the guesting now!

No, they introduce a new mission (training-mission) where you only have to kill 1 bounty and that is what gives you the influence. The rest stays the same.

I am aware things remain the same but this does not really solve the small guild and them obtaining Merit when the normal Bounty Mission is rather unplayable for many small guilds to do. I was hoping that the Training would at least give ONE Guild Merit and help small guild use this as a way to unlock a much a friendly Guild Mission, Trek.

I guess I was wrong when they decided they are rewarded influence instead.

When i posted my original reply to the announcement of 1 bounty training missions for small guilds i was very pleased. I have had time to reflect now and have concluded it’s almost a waste of time, guild merits are required to unlock the further missions. This new tier in no way whatsoever helps small guilds progress through to the unlocking of treks, rushes and puzzles. As stated on page 44 of this thread, i don’t mind how long it takes to progress, just make it possible. ONE GUILD MERIT, that’s all i ask

“This mission is designed to provide small and casual guilds with an avenue for accessing and unlocking guild content. The objective is simple: defeat one bounty target within fifteen minutes.”
The last time i was this happy was when i received a Christmas card from Arenanet.

My only gripe with this is 15 minutes feels… too short. Especially when you might have Sotzz, Prisoner 1141, or Trekksa, all of whom I understand have very long confusing paths ( or random locations, such as Sotzz). My biggest suggestion, which I have read a few times in the last few pages, is either have a longer timer, or no timer at all, preferably the latter. I only say no timer because it’ll encourage people to explore, and actually understand the maps, as opposed to flanking an npc, hoping it’s near a wip, and popping a bounty. And if another guild gets there first, well at least you have another opportunity to find it! Even doubling the time helps!

I’m not sure I understand all these people saying they couldn’t find the guys in time.. you know you can find them BEFORE you click begin, right?

Yes you can, but if there are only 4 or 5 of you online you can’t track all 15

Hello everyone,

Since many of you have several questions or concerns about the New Guild Missions, we have decided to open a dedicated thread so you can all give your input about this.

Please use this thread for all questions, opinions, or concerns you may have about this upcoming feature.

As always, don’t forget to keep the discussion constructive and civil.

Thanks!

Civil i will be, and constructive too. Please sort this mess out, small guilds cannot do the guild bounty content. A small guild is not 10 -15 people online at once, a small guild is like the one i’m in now, 7 close friends (who also played and loved GW1 for 7 years). I am not complaining about unlocking the content, we managed to save enough influence through co-ordinating event clearances and using a ton of gold. What i am saying however is that now we have unlocked the bounties we simply cannot get the manpower to search for, and find, and kill 2 champions with huge paths in 15 minutes. I repeat… 15 minutes! This is effectively locking us out of the rest of the guild missions as we simply cannot gain the guild merits required. The answer is easy? Yes i believe it is. Put in another tier where only 1 bounty is required and drop the rewards appropriately. Then the 4 or 5 of us who get online concurrently in our small guild would like nothing more than to zone into the relevant area and dash around yell in guild chat “Found it, Found it”. We honestly do not mind if it takes ages to then unlock the next mission (just make it possible please arenanet), remember we played GW1 for 7 years :-)

If I am honest this be the first time I agree with korrigan. I believe if your in a guild you should help it. if not leave. and if I saw someone join just for an event id bin them off. I want people who are ready to help the guild get better and grow.

Unless of course the guild is inviting people to join just for the events.

And this is precisely what server friendly, community based, none elitist large guilds will do. I fully expect the best guilds to say “Hey folks we’re popping a guild event, want to join us for an hour and enjoy the flavour. If you like it stay awhile and hell, we don’t mind if you normally represent your small guild of local friends”

Mungrul raised a good point.

As a leader, if someone joins my guild just to get to participate in the guild events but doesn’t represent the guild to earn the influence required to start those events, he will get in trouble and will most likely get the boot if he doesn’t change is behavior.

I have a word for that kind of behavior – it’s called a “leech”. And I don’t like leeches. Want to benefit from the size of my guild? You better also participate in building it.

Elitism, and a profound lack of a sense of community rolled into one
