I’m sorry but I don’t consider it “procrastination” when I try to do an event on what is perceived to be the halfway point. So no, it’s not “procrastination.” It’s precisely when I usually do these events and have a few weeks left to do everything.
Great, so, because I missed a random Reddit post, I now for the first time miss out on the meta achievement for an event. The problem here is that this schedule was different than most of the other schedules (4 weeks / 2 weeks) that they’ve had going for a long time, and ANET never officially said anything about it. Why? Why is it necessary to not be transparent about this stuff? We all have real lives and can’t always devote our time to this game. I was just going to gain the rest of the achievements after most of the people had figured out what to do, so that it was more efficient, and still thought this would be a 4-week cycle and didn’t see anything online to refute it, so I logged in on Saturday and started. I didn’t get the daily that day, and if I had, I would have the meta. So thanks, ANET.
Just confirming that this happens with me as well, and with countless other users. I’m sure ANET is aware, but I’m also confused as to why it’s been around almost since launch without any fix.
My description of it would be a loud, empty, metallic SMACK that randomly plays and ignores all volume settings.
I am also stuck on 14/15. Last one I need is the group miasma event or a daily, but since there was no daily today, I’m screwed. Unless these achievements are still attainable after tomorrow. :/ ANET, please. You need to tell us how long these events last.
I’m pretty sure they did tell us, about a year ago, and been following the same pattern ever since (apart from the odd exception like Halloween and Wintersday) – first part lasts 4 weeks, second part 2 weeks, with both ending on the same date. If the pattern holds, Escape From LA and its dailies will still be available to complete during Battle For LA, and both will end in 2 weeks.
I’m hoping you’re right! I keep seeing people talking about it ending tomorrow. It would still be nice to have the specifics for each release notated somewhere, either in-game (living story countdown timer on the achievements) or online… anywhere.

Crazy lag on Stormbluff Isle too.
I think it may depend on your team composition. My team tried Slick first probably 10 times and still failed, then tried Sparki first and it was much easier, only took a few tries. I know it seems like killing Slick first is the right thing to do, but I can’t argue with the results.
Just wanted to give a big thank-you to the devs for the in-game cutscenes that have been popping up in the living world content recently. I always felt like the characters just standing in place and talking really took me out of the experience, so actually seeing them running around and doing things in-game really adds a lot to the immersion.
I recently went back to GW1 to work on titles and the first thing I noticed was how much better the story is when you can see the actions played out in-game, so I hope this trend continues.

Look, I’m not married, and currently don’t have a girlfriend. So, at this moment in my life, I have the time to complete the living story achievements. But that won’t last forever (hopefully lol)… and I know that the next time I do have a girlfriend, etc., I won’t be able to keep up at all.
The new Tequatl update being permanent is a GREAT step in the right direction. I like how there are minor time-gated achievements related to the content that don’t take hours of grinding to complete, and then the added content is permanent afterwards. HUGE step in the right direction, so thank you devs for that. Now, if we could have every release follow this formula, everything would be fine.
Ok I finally got it with the shield stance abuse recommended above but it still took me about 750 sprockets worth of tries. I tried a few variations, eventually beat it on this one so I’ll post it, but there probably are better ways because like I said it took me around 750 sprockets (which I think comes out to around 80 tries). :P

Basically in the beginning run up to him around the mines, use Counterblow to absorb his multi-shot attack, switch to GS and do Hundred Blades while activating For Great Justice and On My Mark at the same time. After this you will be stuck with Greatsword for a few seconds so keep hitting him and moving around, if you’re lucky maybe get another Hundred Blades in before switching back to Mace. Now switch between 2 and 5 (shield stance) until your health is back up to a reasonable level, while still hitting him and dodging his killshots. Eventually your shouts will be recharged, so try and wait until he’s next to the wall, run up and Hundred Blades/Whirlwind attack to the wall, then just go crazy until you get low on health again, use Endure Pain and switch back to Mace to regain health one more time. Now he should be low enough for you to kill him with one or two more hundred blades repeating the same tactics above. ONE IMPORTANT NOTE: Don’t get too close to him when doing Hundred Blades, if you’re right next to him I find he really likes to “Kick” you which is an insta-kill. But he still does it anyways whenever he feels like it, even with that advice, which caused the vast majority of my deaths. Good luck!
Doesn’t work, squeamish takes away half your DPS so using the berzerker build against subject 7 ends up doing 1/2 his health in damage before you go down (if you’re lucky). I’m thinking Deadeye is the only option for this, just need to get the right build.
Shinki – Your build suggestions helped a bit but I’m still having issues, can you tell us the rest of your build?
I have received the bug where it gives you a notice you’re about to be transported into the arena, and then you’re never transported. Someone else was transported in and that was that, I never got a chance, had to leave to reset it (and lost all the tickets I spent on my gambits, so right now I’m just, really loving this content /s).
THIS THIS THIS 100x this. Instead of trying over and over again to improve my skills, I’m attempting a few times, giving up out of frustration and out of seeing my bank account constantly deplete. This is NOT fun, it’s infuriating. If the cost to entry wasn’t so high, I would enjoy the multiple attempts and could probably see myself improve each time. But no, instead, I have the constant fear of my lost investments in stupid entry tickets. Good job ANet… I’ve stuck with you through a lot of stuff, but with this you’re losing me, and losing me fast.
