I’m not sure what you mean, since the current score indicates that people are still out there fighting (ex: no server’s PPT is 100>), I don’t think it’s proper to say any server has just “given up and blamed numbers”. Both servers are still out in full forces doing their best, but yes in the long run the winner is decided by numbers and coverage. Even if you were to take a guild like VotF, who could easily kill anything and everyone anywhere at anytime here in NA, they are only 1 guild that runs maybe 20-30 people at MAX, and therefore can only be present on 1 map at a single time, meaning they can only command up to about 140 PPT for their team. So indeed, in this game of WvW, it all comes down to numbers and coverage, and which servers can apply the most constant pressure onto their opponents to prevent them from having time to recover. It’s simple, truly.

Lol, funny that you mentioned that. The whole afternoon, SBI’s 50 man group of a joke could barely cap any of our towers with our 15-20 FAs in EB; although you guys cheered and danced on our corpses as if you guys won the league or something.

So to my understanding, each 1st place winner in each league will receive a dolyak finisher at the end of the season. Does this mean if I transfer over to the server before the end of the season, I could just obtain the finisher just like that?

With all the recent outrageous updates, I think anet should implement a voting system before they continue with any updates. I think it would lessen all the grief for both parties.

If you didn’t earn a skin yourself you should have bought it while it was dirt cheap. But it was in your stupidity, for whatever reason, not to. If you weren’t there for the event or time frame of buying those skins cheap, well that’s too bad. Veteran players earned that right to obtain those skins, whether it was through BLC or buying it cheap on TP. And please understand that they are still “AVAILABLE” to everyone through the TP. Gold is much easier to obtain as well, so it’s not much harder then it was for us veteran players to purchase those skins.

Plus don’t give us the “You didn’t earn those skins bs”. Some of us paid to buy keys, and how do people make money you ask? We work and we “EARN” that money. Some people used their gold to convert to gems to purchase keys, and how do people get gold to do that? Simple, they “EARNED” it through game play by whatever means. Some people simply bought it off the TP because they “EARNED” their gold, as I stated before. So please tell me how we did not earn to have the privileged of having these Halloween items?

The baseball card metaphor is dead on. You buy a bunch of packs hoping to get a rookie card and probably get a ton of doubles or cards you don’t want (tansformation tonics). If you don’t get a rookie card, you can go buy one directly for more money from the store. If they were a reward for doing something I could accept them being unavailable, assuming the thing they were a reward for became unavailable.

Except this is completely inaccurate and doesn’t apply here since you can buy them on the TP and people have been doing so for the past year. The weapons have an established market value that people have been grinding to achieve based on the notion that they were a limited time offer.

SAB weapons were sell-able RNG weapons and they said they wouldn’t bring them back and effect value. The Jetpack was a limited-time, sell-able RNG item that they said they wouldn’t bring back and effect value/prestige. The halloween weapons are a sell-able RNG item and if they make is easily available (i.e. not 5 tickets) then they’re being completely misleading with their posts about protecting the prestige and value of limited time event items. They screw over anyone who just grinded 240 g to buy something based on statements regarding how they were going to treat such items.

Considering you got it because you were lucky and didn’t do any actual work for it everything you get no matter how low is profit.

Gem store skins was never for prestige. That is why Anet made legendaries.

It does make sense, let me explain. If for some reason they do re-release the skins, the probability of a large group of people will quit. Why do I say this? 1. Because it was stated to be “gone forever” on the gem store during the last few days of the event. 2. Because there are people who have spent countless hours farming keys to obtain those skins, and will feel like they’ve been cheated. 3. Because there are a large amount of players who have spent large sums of money on BLC for those skins, and will feel like they’ve been cheated. 4. Some people play solely for the purpose of the market or being a collector. A great example of this would be Runescape’s partyhats, and many of their other discontinued items.

Lets just say they re-release the skins in the gem store. About 1000 players just quit, just an estimate, because of the terrible decision to release the skins again. About 300 people (being very generous with the estimate) will probably purchase it with real money, because like I said before, a majority of players already own at-least one of the Halloween skins. The majority of people who do not own one will purchase it with coin to gem conversion, leaving Anet with minimal profit. And because of the re-release of skins, people will automatically lose interest in buying any future skins because it will always be available to EVERYONE, hence leaving minimal sales to the “new” skins.

So now Anet is down many veteran players, loss of interest for sales by a mass majority of people, and loss of interest by potential new players who want to play solely to own a discontinued item for whatever reason.

Please tell me how this is good for business.

Did you even play Guild Wars 1? Because it sounds like you never did, and if you did you didn’t have enough experience to get close to the miniature market. The only 1 you got halfway right was the Mini Polar Bear and you didn’t need to farm “keys” to get that you just had to run a “dungeon” during wintersday over and over and hope to get that .00001% drop. The other minis you listed came from different PVP championships, contests and other promotional deals. Which means they have nothing to do with a holiday event.(FYI they brought back half of those in the 7th Year B-day presents also meaning they re-released them)

You must have misread my message. I stated that people had to farm “keys” for the Halloween items, not the miniature polar bear. As for the other miniatures, I was referring to the exclusiveness of each miniature for each contest. Think of the contests as holiday events. I’m sure nobody would give a kitten if they kept releasing the same miniature for every contest. FYI, they released the polar bear as birthday presents right after they released GW2. GW1 is dead.

And yes I have played GW1. I have a GWAMM title on one account and 41/50 on this.

EDIT: And btw, I have a polar bear, grawl, and ghostly hero mini dedicated in my hall of monument. So to answer your statement, I have played a fair share in the miniature market.

I’m not complaining. I’m also “Smart enough” being a GWAMM and having 50/50 (paid for by selling the mini polar bear I farmed for and eventually got – which was available as a drop every Wintersday) I can assure you that you know nothing about what you claim to know about.

I too am a GWAMM on my other account.

I do believe I know more then you regarding the minatures. Polar bears were not available every Wintersday, I am more then happy to show you all my rare miniature collection in GW1, including my polar bear. Not like you would have any proof.

We all know thieves for their outrageous damage, annoying perma stealth and being one of the best mobile classes in the game. Not much has been done to deter this problem and because of this, wvwvw is now infested with thieves. However, the main problem lies within abusing this power.

For the past few days I have noticed that all our world’s keeps have been consistently contested, 24/7. Thieves have been taking advantage of the fact that they can disengage many dire situations, whether it be a small group of people or even a zerg and using it to cause grief to our whole world; just from one person. The other day it took 20+ guildmates, and 30+ minutes, surrounding the whole overlook keep to identify the location and dispose of the one thief; and only to have him come back a few moments later.

This absurd tactic have been preventing many potential gains that our server could have had and causing many time crucial losses due to the time restrictions.

Something really needs to be done about this, whether they give invisibility a huge nerf like they did quickness, or do something about keeps, towers, etc being contested by a lone thief.
