Here’s my take on a rifle hybrid build. It got me through most of ruby without much trouble.

Plays a bit differently than the old cele build without many active defenses (honestly I should’ve probably put elixir S or something in place of elixir gun), but rifle is very nice for kiting (I was able to draw out 1v1s vs reapers on foefire indefinitely by leaping away when they entered shroud and CCing them when out of it + immob/chill). Also, FT’s toolbelt is great for dumping on DHs with unblockable attacks. This worked best in teamfights (you can make the usual scrapper res plays but also have good cleave for downed enemies), kinda suffered more than usual in bad 1v1 matchups.
Currently requires 30 deldrimor steel + 30 spiritwood for the components not including inscription costs. This is almost double what other, more valuable, precursors take for the same step (35 spiritwood for The Legend Experiment, 30 deldrimor for either Dawn or Dusk’s Experiment).
Can we get confirmation as to whether this is intentional or not?
Personally I think The Hunter’s material costs for the first tier arent as intended. It takes 60 tier 7 mats total to make it, while other 2 handed precursors take 30-35 total at the same step. I realy hope this is a developer oversight or something.
The Hunter’s experimental tier weapon takes 30 deldrimor steel and 30 spiritwood planks to make. This is more than any other 2 hander for a weapon that only two professions use, one of which hides it most of the time. For reference, The Legend’s experimental components total to 35 spiritwood, and Dawn/Dusk only take 30 deldrimor each. This is way out of line with the rest of the 2handed precursors and I feel like it was supposed to be 15 of each material instead of 30. I’m not sure if I want to continue making this thing now especially if there are more goldsinks later in the collection.
I see an error in your zerker rotation: it is using skills from four utility kits (bomb, grenade, flamethrower and elixir gun)
Rifle engineer is as viable as it ever was in PvE, as is the berserker grenadier build, but currently the optimal build for engi is pistol/pistol full sinister (condi damage, power and precision), which itself is currently being replaced by a mix of viper and sinister stats.
As far as the new content goes, I think it would help to get some toughness stats in there, the new enemies generally hit hard and are more difficult to dodge.
Also, with the way condition scaling works now, incendiary powder isn’t doing worthwhile damage for you in a full berserker build anymore like it used to. I’d recommend taking modified ammunition or another traitline entirely over it if you don’t plan to switch to a condi or hybrid build.
I think this rifle might be a precursor skin when the new system for that starts. If I remember it right, theres going to be 2-3 tiers of skins for each precursor as you progress through the quests for it, and a few details on this gun resemble The Hunter (mostly the end of the barrel and the circular thing near the trigger guard).
Seeing her made my day despite the innevitable transphobic backlash; I rarely feel any representation in videogames regarding my own gender identity so this is quite refreshing. ANET isnt perfect, but I really appreciate that you are one of the few big game devs to maintain a safe space for trans people and other vulnerable groups.
