I wonder…if Anet had come out and said “We have this new item we want to put into the Gem store but we want you guys to talk about it first and see how powerful or not powerful it would be…and then we want your suggestions on how much it should cost” I somehow feel like some would say it would be too OP and should cost a lot of gems and then there would be those who would see its massive use and want it to be dirt cheap for selfish reasons.

the key to any class is to actually play it straight and learn the skills as you get them. Don’t try to rush level them cause then you will have all the skills unlocked but no idea what they do. I made an Engineer and used tomes to level it up and then felt completely lost on how to actually play it ????.

That was my line of thinking as well. That’s why I spent so much time in Malchiors Leap and Cursed Shores. But then again, it could just mean defeated. It’s just aggregating that you had to send a ticket to get a response and they won’t respond or say anything about it here on the official forums. Actually there has been little to no A net activity here on the forums for the last two weeks. Very weird…

I personally have done everything I can think of. Killed regular tars, Vet tars, the Monstoruos tar event. I have killed them I Fireheart Rise,Machoir Leap, and Cursed Shores. Nothing….

The only thing I personally have not done is the one in Arah because I cannot for the life of me get anyone to help.

The zero response on this is getting upsetting to say the least.

I have been killing enough tar elementals that I am sick to death of them and have not got this item to drop. There are no real clues in this items description to help you figure out what to do to actually get this item. I have been stuck on it for weeks. I search google, reddit, here….zero information on this. Someone suggested to me here to try and kill the Legendary Tar in Arah Dungeon path 1. I tried advertising for a party in LFG. I tried to get my guildies to help. NO ONE wants to attempt to kill this monster to see if it drops the item we need. I would at least like to try, if nothing else it would cross this off the list of where to look.

send me a message in game if you ever want to try to do the Legendary Tar. You have to have 4 people to make it spawn. So 1-3 won’t work.

How would you rate the HoT Fun Factor?

Circling Skies.1872

10/10 for me. I have been reading the forum complaints and decided to just stop, the negativity has reached an overload.

I personally and having a ton of fun exploring and figuring out new events. I like it this way. Once we figured out Silverwaste it just became a grind. I don’t want that to happen here.

The Maps are confusing as heck to navigate at first, but the more time you spend in them the more you figure out how to get around. Tangled Depths is crazy to navigate. More waypoints would be nice though.

Working on Masteries is ok too. Trying to figure out which to train first or next so you can finally do something like Bounce or summon an exalted to help, or learn the new languages is tricky but makes you kind of plan ahead.

All in all I love it and find it worth the money.

Cool down on Skills is crazy

Circling Skies.1872

One thing I noticed playing in Cursed Shores was once you get your energy level up there was almost zero cool down on Utility Skills. Like All Skills were ready to use at all times. No skill seemed to be on cool down. I felt like I couldn’t fire off all the weapon AND utility skills fast enough. I was laying down the Dwarf Stance road one right after the other and couldn’t press hammer 2 fast enough. I don’t know if this is intended or not. But it seems all the other classes I play you have to be more timed in when and how you use your skills and think ahead about your cool down times.

Is this over powered?

It only takes long because you don’t know how to fight him.

He has a shield that reaches 10 stacks overtime. To remove the stack, he has to be hit by the red lasers. This is accomplished by stacking on him and then dodging away at the last moment, especially if you want the achievement.

THIS over and over again! Last night the zerg drew him down south away from the red lasers. No matter how many times myself and a few others tried to tell the zerg to bring him back north to the RED lasers no one would listen. It was actually quite maddening. How long can people attack and get zeros for dmg and not realize something is amiss?? The answer: approx 20 min or more. When people woke up and finally drug him to the red lasers the fight was over in a matter of minutes. I realize it may take a little time to learn mechanics of a new boss fight, but when there are people telling you exactly what to do and you choose to ignore them……well good luck with all that and have fun crying.

I can’t see that this was nerfed. I played last night and got a ton of rares and tons of greens and blues. Since the Pavillion event has started I have made a ton of gold from merching the green/blue items. AND I have gotten 4 exotics from Mystic Forging some of the rares. Also I have gotten 2 exotics from the boss special loot bags. The about of crafting materials has stocked up my collection bank too. Large claws especially which I now have to sell on the TP because i have so many.

What I would like to see are more Fractals that deal with stuff that happened in between GW 1 and 2. It would also be cool to go back in time to Orr before its destruction so that I can see it in all its grandeur. There are tons of cool structures in Orr. I would love to see how they looked when they were built and being used.

Circling Skies.1872

Interesting idea, one that I would have never thought about before.

If this were ever to be implemented I would like to see it be all random per character. That means that the locations for your “archaeological dig sites” would be in a different location for every person in the game.

All the events and find this or that that Anet adds with the Living Story has, so far, been in set locations for every player in the game. Thus, many players (including me) look up guides and just run and waypoint to those locations to get the items as fast and efficiently as humanly possible. There is no more searching and exploring involved. Even though I do this I feel it takes something out of the game. I feel like I am just a machine or robot going from point A to B to C and so on with zero thought to the environment. My thought is I have already seen it all so there is nothing new here, just get in and out a quickly as possible.

By just giving us “clues” to somethings where-abouts, we would have to be more active in finding where the objects are hidden.

Also, stop adding new crafting material and add more recipes for crafting new skins instead of having to turn in scraps and tickets and whatnot.

From the upcoming release of our brand spanking new Looking for Group (LFG) tool, to investigating ways to limit culling in PvE, to the two-week content schedule our Living World teams have in store, the second half of 2013 has countless more exciting new things in store for our players than I can possibly cover here. As always, the content above is subject to change as we test and iterate on these systems.

What do you think this system will be like? Similar to the LFG site we use now? I hope its not just a chat channel.

Boss fights should focus more on secondary mechanics

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Circling Skies.1872

Circling Skies.1872

All the bosses attack extremely slowly and, for the meta world bosses, will only attack in a straight line. Right now on Shatterer you go beside him and attack upwards, and he just keeps firing in a straight line away from us. He also attacks extreeeemley slowly. Spice it up and have the dragon move, have it face us as we move around, have it attack more quickly and whip it’s tail or wings at us and knock us back. Right now it feels like I may as well be attacking a wall.

Agreed with this as well as OP. I would like to see the Dragons put up a more “active” fight. Move around the whole map, make us chase him, let him chase us. The maps are huge, the Dragons are huge and can fly, why would they just sit still and take it?

Jormag does have the mechanics of taking down the ice shield and then the ice pillars to protect the Golems…maybe more damage should be done by the golems and less by the players then more folks would pay more attention to taking out the pillars?

Tequatl does have some mechanics in place, but like you say, players just by-pass them and attack him directly. Same here, make the secondary mechanics do more damage than a mob a players.

The Shatterer…I honestly don’t know his secondary mechs. I have always stood with the group to the side and just attack till dead. This definitely needs sprucing up.

Zhaitan….ugh. boring. Bring him into the Meta in Orr, make us chase him around the map, make it a multistage process similar to the Kraka Queen, make it difficult to do but also reward accordingly to effort put into taking him down.

I have always thought that all these Mega-Bosses were actually quite lame and way to easy to defeat. I would like to see more action involved. Like some people have to collect and run ammo to some cannons while others man those cannons and other have to fight of hordes of adds to protect the cannons…that sort of thing

My main is my Guardian and I can honestly tell you I have no clue what I put into my armor and have no idea my trait points layout and I have zero issues surviving alone or in a group. So from my standpoint, as long as you have level appropriate gear you will be ok. I think Zerks a such a big catch-phrase because of the increase damage potential they can have. Runes and Ords are pretty cheap so I would just play around with different ones to see what you like best.

Aether dungeon needs radical nerfing

in Sky Pirates of Tyria

Posted by: Circling Skies.1872

Circling Skies.1872

It absolutely kills me the number of people who refuse to change their skill bars to make this easier. Even with a PUG, communication is key. Communicate what skills you are taking to help and change them as needed for each area of the dungeon. Hell, the dev talk about this dungeon says blatantly that STABILITY is a must, yet few people even use it! Invisibility is also a great one for the Cannon Barrage at the end (although the last one lasts too long IMO). Also, Stay together as a group and go in the same direction. If one person lags behind you will all most likely start taking hits. Have a thief or mesmer make you invisible. For Mai, as a Guardian, I took Save Yourselves!. I watched my teams status bars and health. When a few team members had stacks of bleed and their health was low I would use Save Yourself! then use a condition remover, then a heal and everyone was back to tip top shape.

Is this dungeon easy? No. Is it impossible? No. You have just GOT to be more flexible in your play style. The build you use in PvE for all maps just might not get you through this one UNLESS you are open to communication and changing your skill bar.

Laser Room is Way to Hard

in Sky Pirates of Tyria

Posted by: Circling Skies.1872

Circling Skies.1872

For me the following always works. Only use the boxes to avoid the low/fast laser. But don’t stay on the boxes. Just walk in circles following the larger slower lasers and use range to hit the golems. Whenever the lower laser comes along use the boxes to jump over it and repeat the cycle. If everyone of your party does this (nobody remaining static on the boxes for as long as possible) the golems will all run after you and be without shield 60% of the time, resulting in them dying way faster.

Once you mastered this, doing this boss will take you max 10 minutes.

Yes. This is the way to do it. It takes a bit to get the hang of doing it, it’s a lot to keep an eye on, but not impossible. It does take skilled timing. Once you figure out your pacing (not timing) you should be ok. Stability helps A LOT. I am surprised by the number of people complaining who refuse to change anything on their skill bars to make this dungeon easier.

Hate to be the debbie-downer, but it looks like yet again more lousy cash for chest and horrible RNG for new skins. Who is still waiting for "Guild Halls"

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Circling Skies.1872

I hope they put in guild halls. I want us to be able to pick what city we want it to be in. My vote would be for Queensdale. I think they should be open instanced so you can come and go without loading into another screen, but still have the ability to decorate it with banners and such. This would increase the populations in some cities and give players a sense of having a “home”. Let guilds be able to put crafting and bank stations in their halls too.

I don’t really give a fig about individual housing. It would have to be instanced and I would not ever visit other players houses. Did anyone honestly go hang out in someone else’s Hall Of Monuments in GW EOTN? I sure didn’t. And no one really had any interest in coming in mine. Maybe we wanted to to show off our collections, but it just didn’t work out.
