It’s been a while! But GW2 continues to be a huge inspiration to me. I got around to making a few more paintings inspired by it.

BenjaminK.8792 – Thank you so much! I’ve been slooowly chipping away at GW1 Factions because I never got around to playing it, and it’s such a gorgeous game. The texture work blows my mind!
As for the software, I use Adobe Photoshop CS6 and everything is hand-drawn with a graphic tablet. Mine is a Wacom Intuos 4 medium size; it’s 8 years old now, but it works very well. I use Corel Painter sometimes, but find it very clunky and slow. Which is a shame, because it’s great for mimicking traditional media feel.

04. “Bestiary”, from 2010! I really liked collecting the pets in GW1, so I painted my mesmer writing into her bestiary.

I didn’t paint that much GW1 fanart, but I managed to dig up a couple pieces from around 7 years(!) ago. Talk about a trip down the memory lane, I’d almost forgotten about these!

The first one is my GW1 Mesmer – I still miss that dress, I wish they’d bring it back. The second one is a silly painting of Palawa Joko making a snowman out of bones and scraps, I think it was for a Wintersday contest.

Sorry if they look too dark, they were done on my old CRT monitor. I’d actually brightened both images because they were even darker.

I’ll look it up, but if it’s true, then both of them are acting really kitten childish about the relationship – what happened to talking it through, like adults do…?

I agree that his action was very human and understandable, spell or no spell, though the portrayal of what happens afterwards should have been handled differently.

8/10! I really, really like the colour combination and the way his body glow matches the armour, especially the alternate one. The only thing that bothers me a bit is the hair, I think a simpler/slicker look would fit him more.

Now, my Elementalist got a make-over. I wasn’t even going to change her, but while I toyed around with the Makeover Kit the new hair and faces really appealed to me, so I went for it. Tried to do an elegant dark rose style.

I actually like Logan, but a lot of my love comes from head-canoning. Here’s what I think the problem is:

The whole thing with Jennah. It doesn’t feel like a love story; she is always so cold and distant that I am sure the “love”, if it is true, is one-sided. Jennah’s bonding spell is way too suspicious to me and I can’t be convinced Logan is that much in love all by himself. The “runaway coward” comments from the community bother me because they completely disregard the fact it was the Queen’s doing, that he had no choice. The Jubilee speech is proof enough that she doesn’t deem him important enough to know the plans – why would she keep safety measure plans from him, when protecting her – and everyone else in Divinity’s Reach, for that matter – is his job?

So basically, I don’t believe in the ~true love~ story and I think they should clarify the whole magical bond thing as soon as possible, clarify what is really going on between them, and allow both characters to move on. Right now Jennah is very secretive and dismissive, Logan seems irritated by the whole thing, and so are the players… dragging it on and on is just going to make things worse.

7/10 because of the hairstyle. The skin colour clashes with the hair, too. Otherwise I like his eyes and the face you chose!

My Thief became a girl (sorreh ;-;) – I’m really happy with the new scarred face and appreciate the “natural make-up” look. Finally a slightly older looking face! (I mean, over 16… :/)
