I share my PC with my daughter so that we can play GW2 together. Because of that I use two shortcuts to identify her account and mine using these switches in the command line (-nopatchui -email -password -clientport 443 -maploadinfo).
When I start the game using either shortcut the game stalls at a white screen waiting for an SMS or E-Mail auth. Is there anyway to turn that 2 step off? Is command line support gone?
I was going to see if the new launcher would be more friendly with Steam so that I can play with my daughter side by side without having to suffer with my laptop GPU power.
When I first got in the HoT maps I tried to power my way through in order to finish my specialization as quick as possible. The problem with that left me confused as to where people were in a map and contently dying by trying to race to uncover the map or capture a hero point.
My turning point into loving this whole thing was, this is going to sound dumb, finally realizing each map has many continuous story events rather than core’s semi random events. I changed my focus from run-n-gun pokemon trainer trying to catch them all into staying in a general area of a map and do map’s story/events. The next thing I knew I was having a great time and I had the most needed masteries.
If your simply in need of mastery points then find a hp train or use lfg and see if you can’t get some peeps to help you out with one hp. Chances are unless the map working on the end of the maps meta event somebody probably needs the hp as well.
I’ve tried 10 times in the last 3 weeks and still haven’t received the achievement. The guys dies and I try to soak up all of his wurm bait juice but I get nothing in return.
After 10 different attempts on getting to a Dragon Stand map that had more than 3 people I finally did it. The problem is that with ~10% left on mordremoth the 32bit client crashed. Now I know we finished it or would have if the crash didn’t happen because there was plenty of time and it was very organized. When I came back into the game I am still in the squad and on the map I see others in my squad but when I click on them it says they are in another instance. I have no way to get back into my map. I suspect it will take me ~10 more times to get on another map for a second attempt.
In trying to craft my ascended weapon I set my filter to Ascended only so that I don’t see anything else. I noticed that Deldrimor Steel Plated Dowel was not showing up but it is needed in order to craft the inscription.
Also since the required rating is 500 to craft it, that should also qualify the rarity to be updated to ascended.
Edit: It looks like the ascended crafting components do not have a rarity setting with the exception for Vision Crystal. Since Spiritwood and Deldrimor can only be used for ascended can their rarity also be reflected of that?

Any chance that -nopatchui can be updated to refresh the “gw2cache” and allow TP usage?
I was using admin on the shortcut. Also I found and deleted the folder on my d:\temp folder. After doing that it did not fix the problem.
I did play around with my command line arguments and found that the cause was the usage of -nopatchui. I was told to use that argument in order to have the Mumble overlay work. I did test both with and without the argument and indeed it does not work unless you use that command.
With the command I cannot use the TP but I can see mumble users on my screen. Without the command I can use TP but cannot see my guild mates.
I can see and search the trading post (TP) but I am unable to purchase anything unless I start the game using the -repair command line argument. I also don’t see anything under recent purchase, can’t trade gems/gold, don’t see anything under My Transactions unless I start game with -repair.
When I try to buy something I receive an error:
Sorry!
Your order did not match any current listings. Please
Refresh and try again.
No matter how many times I refresh and try to buy something I receive the same error.
Once I do load the game using the -repair (that is waiting for each and every 200k files are verified) I can then see and use the TP as normal.
I’ve used the Black Lion Salvage Kits (BLSK) on several rare items and I have yet to get any essence of luck back. On items of lesser qualtity I’ve been using the Fine salave kit and seem to get a good return on luck.
Can you please look into BLSK to see why it is that luck isn’t being generated?
Thank You.
When thinking of getting a legendary weapon you wouldn’t normally think that 100% map completion would be the hard part. Well for Darkhaven server it will be very difficult. I don’t know if I would ever see our WvW turn out more then what feels like 100 at the same time.
I don’t have a link to the chart that shows the WvW wait times and amount of people in them but you can be sure that Darkhaven was the lowest. True I can get in and get kicked in the face quicker.
Right now I’m at ninety something percent with some bugged skill points and dungeons to do other then WvW. Eventually I’ll get the skill points once a fix has been released for them. Dungeons are easy enough to queue up for. But WvW I have no control due to the lack of interest of others on the server.
Arena Net, in their infinite wisdom, decided to go completely last-gen on us and build The game only to DX9 spec. Probably to increase Windows XP user support.
I believe it was a design decision to go with DX9 so that they can reach more people. By more people I mean consoles. Knowing that this game is heavily CPU bound it goes to reason that the move to DX9 is so the consoles can play as well. Having 10 year old hardware isn’t going really cut it when running this game. The frame rates will be too low for enjoyment. Its a great business move to reach a wider audience.
I believe it is consoles that is limiting the innovation and is hurting PC gaming. DX9 is 10 year old technology (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DirectX). Knowing that new games are being released all of the time using it so that they can be more easily ported.
I don’t know if you watch game breaker’s build cast but it is definitely worth viewing. They break down builds and one common thing they say is depending on what your going for you probably may not want to go for the full set. On some sets the 5 or 6 piece isn’t worth it when another’s 2 piece may give more benefit or synergize better with the traits you’ve chosen.
You can check out the show here:

At some point you may need more space for multiple sets of armor. I myself will probably have a condition, direct damage, and precision set depending on what my traits are. That way my armor and trait will synergize and make me more effective.
The guys over at TechReport.com did a great review of this topic. They took 7 AMD and 11 Intel CPUs and put them against each other.
I definitely recommend reading the article article.
