How much damage was removed from all those skills?
The amount that was accidentally added to them, I should think.
Except it was already promised that these kits would get the extra ascended weapon power. Not an accident.
I’d like to see a direct quote or a link to thread that this is in because this is the first time I’ve heard about it.
I have both an engineer and an elementalist so I feel like I should be annoyed at Anet about this. I’d just like to justify this annoyance.
Anet likes to assert it’s dominance by showing you that it has complete control over the things you love.
It’s sort of like if you had a girlfriend and Anet, on a whim, made out with her in front of you while staring you right in the face.
Now just imagine your legendary’s particle effects were your girlfriend and you have a sufficient but poorly thought out metaphor for Anet’s business practices.
Why do people keep saying celestial?
And for the naysayers, I BOUGHT the trinkets specifically to improve my magic find. My whole set of gear was designed around MF. So, losing that from two of the items without compensation hurts.
Plus, who said it was only 8%? I’ve dropped more than 100% just from that one character’s gear. I haven’t even checked the rest of them. SOME of it will get replaced by, IMO, inferior stats. But certainly not all.
To get the 300% somebody mentioned, one has to do a LOT of work. Work I had already done in 6 months of dailies and monthlies. I’m dropping from 100+ on each of four characters to 4% account wide. That’s hardly compensation.
However, I am interested in knowing about this 20% we supposedly get for free. I received no such bonus of which I’m aware.
The Lunaria and Solaria rings you’ve purchased have every stat, which is now considered Celestial. I know they existed before that particular set of armor came out, it’s just easier to say Celestial.
It’s difficult to justify compensation for Celestial items. Statistically, they’re “better” than other items even without MF. You may have purchased it for the MF, but unlike if you purchased a bunch of Traveler’s gear, you’re no worse for wear for having it removed. That’s probably why Anet didn’t provide compensation for Celestial items.
In order to get 100% MF, you’ll need equipment that you’ve probably been compensated for already. That’s why we’re only referring to the ~8% you would’ve lost for the two ascended rings.
“A lot of work” = dropping 50s on an inventory full of masterwork items then salvaging them for almost 10% magic find. Yes, it’ll take sometime to get back to 100% magic find, but you’ll have better stats from your items to compensate.
You get enough essence of luck in the mail to get 20% magic find. If you haven’t received it, clear your mail and see if it gets sent.
Also, to answer your “question,” laurel rings / amulets are not worthless. They are currently the only ascended trinkets and the only way to get agony resistance outside of fractal rings and ascended weapons. They still have superior stats to exotic items.

To be fair, you’ve also gotten a bunch of laurels, gold, weapon skins, badges, gem store items, armor skins, experience scrolls, total makeover kits, karma, and a lovely title with all your achievement points.
Like I’ve said before in previous threads, the other MF sets were given the option to change because they sacrificed a stat for MF. This made people who chose to use MF sets weaker than those who didn’t.
Celestial doesn’t sacrifice anything to have MF. It has more combined stats than any other set of armor. It even has more critical damage than zerks. Even without MF, it’s still a viable option.
How about they just revert changes to the old Meteor since it’s apparent everyone was satisfied with it?
I’m not.
I like how it is now.
As far as I know, it’s only used in creating more potent Essences of Luck.
For example, you can combine two 50 luck Essences into one 100 luck essence.
That’s the only way you can use them in crafting that I know of.
Don’t you get essence of luck too?
And they also made it so that purple flurp gives more karma at the cost of not being affected by boosters…so there’s that
People throw all their money into the mystic forge or lose it all trying to play the TP and get nothing out of it. You probably made over 150g killing champs at a small cost and you’re complaining?
First world problems, man.
Personally, I enjoy the humor and mostly light-hearted tone of Gw2. I feel like if the game was just wallowing in it’s own pit of despair it’d be a bit of a turn off.
Different strokes for different folks, I guess. I feel like the game has struck a nice balance between stark moments of hopelessness and small flashes okittenwardly delivered humour.
I always thought the purpose of time gating was to keep everyone on a relatively same level gear-wise, so that people with 500 gold can’t just outright buy a full set of ascended gear and have a distinct advantage over everyone.
Yeah it’s pretty inconvenient…but what fun are you going to miss out on for not having a few slightly larger stats?
Greatswords are also pretty popular because of their aesthetics. You have to admit Anet put a lot of effort into making greatswords, considering we have two GS legendaries.
…after looking at that picture, perhaps it’s time to change up the outfit.
It kind of looks like if RuPaul was a werewolf and decided he wanted to dress up as Queen of the Fairies.
@Buddy
I’ll have to admit, I’m not a big fan of the Sylvari cultural medium armor. I’d recommend perhaps finding other pieces of cultural or TA armor to mix and match with it because you definitely have some good pieces there.
I like how the colors you chose compliment the armor and each other. Green and gold is one of my favorite color schemes and I wish more people would take advantage of it. It’s also refreshing to see a ranger showcase their pet, especially one of the more aesthetically pleasing ones.
I think people are complaining more more about the fact that they got multiple Jennah’s instead of different minis for each character. I don’t think Jennah’s popularity has anything to do with it; she’s integral to the story and is a character a lot of people identify with because human is a very popular race.
I think it would have been better if we got minis unique to the race or order we chose so we could have multiple unique minis for each character.
That being said, I love the idea of a mini Tybalt.
Claw island 2012, never forget.
When I first started the game, I didn’t even touch crafting until I was level 70 because I didn’t need to.
When you get to the point where you have enough disposable income to spend on leveling and not enough interest in map completion, then you can worry about it.
I run all of CoE, HoTW, and paths one and two of CoF for the daily gold and tokens.
Each path gives enough daily tokens for two rares which can be salvaged for ectos and if you toss all your greens into the Mystic Forge you can usually get another rare for each path. Add in champion loot bags from the dungeons and they’re not a bad way to make money.
