I’m using the following keys for movement:
up arrow = forward
down arrow = backward
left arrow = turn in place to the left
right arrow = turn in place to the right
spacebar = jump
When I go forward and turn to the left, I cannot jump. I can jump with all other combinations of keys: right-forward, right-back, and left-back. It doesn’t matter which key I press first.
Help? I’m using a Dell 8115 keyboard.
Thanks.
Edit: Forgot to add, all strafes/movement/jump combos work as expected. Also, tried restoring defaults and it still did not work.

I also dislike the story fragmentation – it makes living story feel like a chore to me, because I have to do it now or it won’t be there. I don’t particularly care about the skins/rewards, but this weekend was the only time I’ll be able to do the Clockwork Chaos content, so I did. And it sucked. The first one was fun, the 6th one was torture. If I could have spread them out at my leisure it would have been fine, but right now if I do that I will miss the story. Don’t tell me to look it up on youtube; watching someone else go through the funhouse wasn’t nearly as fun as doing it myself, but I’d have had a lot more fun with it if I could have spread it out to my availability.
If you put limited time access to previous content into the gem store for a few hundred gems, I will buy them. And everyone I was talking to on TS last night will too. If that means, down the road, that we have to organize our own guild-based event to get enough people for a clockwork invasion and the rewards aren’t as good as they were when it was live, fine. But it means that I wouldn’t be feeling burnt out right now and I would still get to enjoy the content.
Axe 4 is for fury maintenance and decent damage while axe 5 is adrenaline builder and zerg buster. Axe main hand is for raw damage and range cripple.
I personally prefer sword/axe, hammer. If you have a full adrenaline bar you can hit a pretty sick combo using axe 5. Earthshaker stun—swap to sword right away and you can pop flurry—-axe 5 to fill up adrenaline—-swap back to hammer and Earthshaker again.
Generally retaliation and knock downs keep you from doing the whole combo but it is so sweet when you finish the chain. One of the main reasons I use axe offhand.
I typically run that as well because the CC makes great synergy in a large scrap. However, those axe specific traits can do some good things if you spec purely into it. Not a bad idea if you want to roam as a warrior.
I do Sword/Axe and then Hammer, Rifle, or Longbow depending on the situation. The biggest problem I’ve found with Sword/Axe is you have no blocks, so I end up dancing in and out of melee range and speccing for the quick adrenaline regeneration.
I tried to log in to the forums from a new location on IE8, Version 8.0.7601.17514. I recieved the HTTP 400 Bad Request error, rather than the notification that I was logging in from a new location and needed to check my email.
oh my dolyak feces have hit the windmill fan. <3 i like where this is going
Comma, please. I blinked for a good 20 seconds before realizing that it wasn’t your dolyak feces in particular, before incomprehension gave way to merriment
Before these changes happened, we were in a tier with a server that always came out on top, week after week, month after month. The reason was they were more populated than the other 2 servers in the tier (or they were more of a WvW server while we were PvE). This was frustrating for the other 2 servers, obviously. Everybody knew the perennial number 1 server in the tier (Darkhaven) could do enough to move at least 1 tier higher, but always near weekly reset they would stop and rest so that they don’t move up tiers. They probably knew they’d be beaten in the higher tiers so they wanted to stay in our tier to be the bullies. The changes have gotten us out of this horrible, disheartening situation. Yes, this new system still has flaws but at least we have equal chances of going up against “weaker” servers as well as stronger ones.
As a DHer, I got bored by the end of the week and stopped playing. Nothing to do with what tier we were in. A lot of the people I was talking to were itching to move up and frustrated that we couldn’t make the jump. WvW has been a lot of fun since the change for me at least.
Was going to say Warrior too. Because I suck at PvP still so it goes: Attack —> Kill —> Done.
To some extent yes, but the fact that this is the first matchup in a long time when I’ve had queues to get into our BL probably means that we’re trying harder too.
I’m not sure if this is a bug or not and the forum search seems to be broken.
Sometimes my characters will not run at all – the fastest movement they give is a very slow walk. It does not appear to be an issue with what keys I’m pressing, since sometimes I’m running normal speed and sometimes I’m stuck at a snails pace on the same keys.
I’ve only noticed it starting sometime in battle, but it persists outside of battle. If I WP to somewhere in the same map it will still be slow; if I WP to another map it usually fixes itself. Occasionally it will fix itself without requiring me to switch maps, but it is rare that that happens before I lose patience.
Help? Any ideas? Is this a bug or just my incompetence as a player?
Hello there, yaks!
Re Dolyak pasture… and the server that wins the points is the one with the most people running around transformed at any given time?
I mean, ideally I’d do something like
Week 1: 123,456,789,…
Week 2: 1 (maybe they play Europe #1 this week), 234, 567,…
Week3: 12, 345,678,…
You’d have to have maps that could handle WvW instead of WvWvW.
Everyone would be playing everyone within 2 levels of themselves, but you would get different matches every week and get a chance to play everyone around you.
Since this isn’t an ideal world, I’d rather take a lower-than-current-random-variation than a 1up1down. Even with the current variation, with enough blowouts, theoretically the point gap would increase enough to restrict the variation on its own. It’s just a painful process getting there.

1 up 1 down doesn’t solve anything. You could have two servers of equal strength that happen to be ranked 6 and 7, who would never get a chance to play each other because they would keep flipping. Each week one gets stomped, the other stomps, and each week they switch. Never fun and they never get to play each other.
Problem with 1up-1down is that, even if the rankings are accurate, the best match would actually pit the two servers who are moving against each other. Because we’re locked into tiers of 3, you could have a scenario where two servers flip repeatedly each week, taking turns stomping and getting stomped, and you would never know which was better because they would never get a chance to play against each other even though they’re right next to each other in the rankings.
I nominate Braham for Teen Angst of the Year award. That said, I do enjoy the ‘Oh we’re so dead’ every time. The rest of it usually gets turned off so I don’t have to slap him.
Tried AC p2 a few days ago. Disclaimer: We didn’t finish, but I think that’s more to do with the fact that 3/5 of the group wouldn’t learn or listen. After the first wipe two of us figured out how to do the traps, and it probably would have been interesting if the rest of the group had gotten on board and stopped aggro-ing him early.
Spider queen was painful. Quite painful.
A lot of surviving comes from practicing. You mess up once and get killed, you know what to look for, and next time you dodge. This kills it for people who are still learning, because you can’t get back up and try again until you’ve got it. You misjudge something, but if the next time you get to try it is 5-10 minutes later, you’re a lot more likely to make the same mistake than if you try it 30-60 seconds later.
The learning curve just got a LOT steeper.
I agree you should keep res-rushing turned off for higher-end content, but either leave the lowest dungeon in newbie-forgiveness mode or give an option for nerfed payouts that lets you res yourself.
As a less-experienced dungeon runner who started about a week ago, I wrote the majority of this post while lying in the dirt (AC, Path 3).
I had to go repair my armor, and my party got into a battle while I was doing it. I ran most of it, got hit by a trap and a randomly spawned graveling burrow, and died far enough away that they couldn’t come back to get me. This is on top of the time I spent lying dead in battle while waiting for my teammates to either finish it without me or to die. The two people who tried to res me died in the process.
I can see how the res-rushing is a style you’d want to discourage, but please don’t discourage it in a way that makes the game not fun for less experienced players. I liked the suggestion of different modes with scaled rewards.
While I appreciate all the people who are willing to take us less-experienced folk with them, I’m going to show my appreciation by not being a drag on their parties while lying in the dirt, and avoid dungeons for a while.
