Well, last night I looked at my bank and found I had all the mats for the Mystic Axe combine that with the heritage shield skin and T2/T3 armor in Greyish Black and I look rather kitten!
Here’s what I run for Axe/Shield

Lots of DPS abilities while keeping the protection of the shield…love it.

I think I’ll stick with my Axe/Shield setup and dream about wielding cool looking swords around.
Yeah I like MH sword for the leap but the burst ability on the Axe is >>>>> Sword. Isn’t OH Axe suppose to be rather lackluster as well?
I leveled up with a Greatsword so wanted to try something different. I went Axe/Mace but didn’t like the Mace, I’m now Axe/Shield and I’m ‘meh’ about it. I would really love an Axe/Sword build but anything relating to sword has condition damage and I don’t really want to revamp my entire gear set to get it.
So my question is, is there an axe/sword build that isn’t heavy into condition damage on gear? Perhaps this is something that can be reflected on sigils/runes?
This will be for all things PvE – Dungeons, Map Clearing, etc.
I’m at work, thought I’d make a post to see if anyone else had this issue and if they found a fix for it.
When I look at the error log before hitting send, it does appear to be different from the last. However in each log there is a mention of memory.
Using W7 HP 64 bit for my OS.
In a night I can crash anywhere from once every other hour to once every 2 minutes. When I crash it’s just the game and GW2 will pop up with a log report to send into GW2 techs. In that log report it always states something to do with memory.
So last night I ran memtest and it didn’t find any errors. I currently have 8GB of Ram but I am wondering if upping to 16GB would fix the issue.
Also something odd to add – I crash more when I took off my OC. I had my CPU OC’d so of course I had a slight OC on my ram. My OC is completely stable but I thought I’d try stock settings to see if that helped the issue. Well, it actually made it worse.
How do I install GW2 to be able to run two game clients? I have two GW2 accounts, I want to run both on my PC which will be easy as I have two monitors. I’m looking to RP/Socialize on one account while I’m out gathering or WvW/PvP’ing on the other one. Whenever I try to start the client twice or try to run the setup again it errors out.
Well tonight I was going to try something along the lines of 20/0/0/30/20 or a 20/20/0/30/0 shout build.
What about a 20/0/0/30/20 build and then rune for precision (like eagle runes) and use a heavy shout ability setup?
Like the OP I’m looking for a decent overall setup where I won’t get melted yet still able to do some damage.
My warrior, has a bunch of different pieces so no real set. I like how it turned out though.
GS/Longbow
Zerker armor with valk gemsValk rings/ammy with valk(emerald?) stat gems
Zerker earrings with zerker(ruby) gems20/30/0/0/20
Nuff said.
What are Valk gems? I’m running something like this and am finding my survivability to be lacking.
Yeah, totally get that – staying alive and applying constant damage while helping groupmates verse going for that big crit. But I must say, I did like critting for 26k…I just need to get some meat on these bones so to speak.
I noticed you don’t run Arms but instead pickup two of the defensive lines. I’m not sure if I am looking to do that as it seems a tad too tanky. If you had to pick which would you say gives the most benefit for survivability?
Recently got 80 and went with a Greatsword build. Love doing the big hits and all, but I am a glass cannon. Too much so I think as I ran my first dungeon tonight and died way more then I would have liked.
I’m currently running a 30/30/0/0/10 build with my runes being all Rage and my Sigil is Rage as well(wasn’t entirely sure what runes to run with).
So need some help revamping my build or rune setup or something to make it so I can actually stand in melee and deliver my damage.
I ran the 6 signet build from 1-79 and only noticed a survivability issue at 75. Prior to that taking on 5-6 at a time was easy. I really recommend it and it’s a rather fun way to level.
First and foremost, thank you Olba for continuing to respond with helpful comments. I really do appreciate it.
Turtle’s Defense – I have slotted 2 abilities that remove conditions, but my thinking on taking this was for when they are on CD. Maybe I would get more benefit from Embrace the Pain for more Flurry aka Bleed stacks?
Signet Mastery/Mobile Strikes – I currently do not have any Signets slotted. Since S/S is known as a more ‘mobile’ build I went with Warrior’s Sprint. Nothing in the Discipline line really stands out to me as being an awesome must have ability for S/S build except for the fact that it adds Crit Damage to a high Crit build.
Alright, last night I did hit 80 and redid my talents. After much reading around and the thoughts posted here I ended up with a 0/30/20/0/20.
0
30 – Deep Cuts, Blademaster, Last Chance
20 – Turtle’s Defense, Last Stand
0
20 – Heightened Focus, Warrior’s Sprint
I also went with Rage sigil on my MH – was this a bad move because I took Last Chance? With this condition/bleed build Quickness is so sexy but not sure if doubling up is good because of the CD on Quickness.
Yeah I know Berserker’s Power only works off the hits of my swords and not condition damage. But I was thinking (again, I could be wrong as I’m new to this) that since this is a high crit build that I would be hitting like a fast rock hammer with high crits due to Berserker’s Power + Vulnerability.
I meant to say that I have only ran Signets because I was leveling, and while leveling a pure Signet + Deep Strike was awesome. Now that I’m 80 I’m aware I have to change up things which is why I’m here asking for advise.
I plan on keeping the rifle for my secondary as it goes nicely with condition damage.
Thanks for the info on Healing Shouts – the build calc I was using was showing it for 10 points.
And thank you for the two links – reading them now.
Alright, so I’m newish to GW2, picked the game up about a month ago and took my time finding the class I wanted to level and then actually leveling up. As I post this I’m only level 79 but that will quickly change after work today.
First and foremost I want to stay sword/sword. I know it may not be the best setup but I’m a total sword/blade nut and I want to shy away from the Greatsword as I see most Warriors running with one and I like to be a bit different. I’ve been sword/sword in a condition build since level 1 and I do want to stick with that at 80.
As for the build type, looking for a general build that will do decently in PvE Dungeons, PvP, WvW, Farming, etc. I should also point out that at this time I leveled with the signet build so I am completely unfamiluar with our other skills – which I imagine I would be changing out for PvE and PvP.
Build
My first thought was
10 – Berserker’s Power
30 – Deep Cuts, Rendering Strikes, Blademaster
20 – Turtle’s Defense, Cull the Weak*
0
10 – Heightened Focus
*I don’t know if vulnerability counts as a weakened state, this is something I was going to test at 80 to see.
What I do know from running with this setup is that this is a total high crit build and that I crit extremely often. So my thought was to make those crits hurt while bleeding the crap out of whatever it is I’m hitting. The one thing I am questioning is the 10 points in Strength verse putting those into Discipline…my thinking on this is that Berserker’s Power is better then anything that the 20th point in Discipline can get me.
Stats
I’m just trying to get my stat priority figured out so when I start getting gear I know what exactly I’m going for.
Condition Damage > Precision > Power > ? > ?
I’m not sure if the above is correct but I would imagine for a S/S build precision would be higher in value then power…correct?
Sigils & Runes
For my offhand I’ve always had the sigil that grants condition damage and stacks up to 25, I forget what it’s called but I imagine I wouldn’t be changing that. As for main hand I’ve changed things up so many times and I have no clue what would be best.
As for Runes I’ve just used whatever one has the most condition damage, is there specific ones I should be slotting at 80 for the s/s build?
Skills
I’ve been 100% signet from level 1, I have never really used any other skills. So I don’t have any of my own thoughts on what I think would be best and why.
I think that’s it. If you have any other tidbits or advise for running S/S I’m all eyes.
Thanks
—Edit—
Been looking at skills and such, and Shouts look rather good. With that in mind (if Shouts are something I do want to take) would I want to spend points in the Tactics line to get my shouts to heal to increase survivability? Basically move the 10 from Strength to Tactics?

Hello Everyone,
I’m kinda new to GW2 – been playing for a few weeks now. The two classes I am kind of leveling up together are the Guardian and Warrior. I went on these forums a little bit ago and asked for help in the Warrior section for a leveling build and upon taking the advise of fellow players I found a build that was perfect for leveling – I can dish out damage and I don’t feel like a wet noodle while doing it!
So, when I hopped onto my Guardian I felt a little squishy and decided to ask the Guardian section here for help as well. I would like to keep wielding a Greatsword as I like the skills that it has. With that in mind I am all ears…or eyes in this case for getting a nice leveling build for my Guardian.
So last night I tried a slew of different combinations and I was actually surprised how much I enjoyed the Sword/Shield combo (as I wasn’t all that impressed with that combo on the Guardian). I dig the shield bash – that one ability made me enjoy the combo. But after all was said and done I ended up with a Sword/Sword combination.
I hit 21 last night, went to the trading post and did some gear upgrades focusing on condition damage – same goes for sigils. I redid my traits for Arms and picked up Deep Cuts and did as recommended and for all my slot skills (including my heal), I am using signets. Was very pleased with the damage and how things were dying (and how few times I was dying).
I did have a quick question – does your offhand proc as often as the main hand? For my weapons I put steal health on each, I figured the regen of the healing signet plus the steal health would make my survivability a non-issue.
Thank you for the suggestions, I have a few things to try out tonight!
Getting gear with condition damage isn’t an issue.
You know, I haven’t ever tried a Mace so I can’t say if I like or dislike its abilities. I will definitely pick one up tonight and try it out.
As far as Axe in the OH, I like it because without it I don’t have any AOE abilities just single target (I understand that my single target does hit multiple targets, but I don’t have any straight AOE abilities without it). Maybe I’m off base here and my opinion will change when I try a mace. It’s hard because like I mentioned above, I really am a sword guy at heart.
And yes, I LOVE the leap on Sword MH which is one of the big reasons why I do want to keep it.
I did try using a GS last night, and while I did think the 3rd ability was pretty cool, I did want to DW with the Warrior as I couldn’t with the Guardian.
I am a sword guy so not using dual swords is rather disheartening, I would like to at least stick with DW on the Warrior.
Hello everyone,
I’m new to GW2, picked it up two weeks ago and since then have been dabbling a bit in a few classes to find one that I liked. I have narrowed it down to two classes as I enjoy the play style of both – Guardian and Warrior. I have leveled up the Guardian and now I want to focus a bit on the Warrior.
For reference I leveled the Guardian up to 65, a Thief to 19, a Ranger to 5 and am currently level 17 on the Warrior. I thought I might enjoy the Ranger/Thief so wanted to give those classes a whirl as well, while fun in their own way I enjoy my Guardian and Warrior more.
Because I use a Greatsword on the Guardian I wanted to do something different on the Warrior so I am currently using Sword (MH) and Axe (OH) – I like the bleed damage and mobility with having a Sword in the MH and the damage abilities with the Axe in the OH.
With that being said, I feel rather squishy compared to the Guardian, I feel almost like the Thief I tried. Currently I have all my trait points into Power (I’m sorry I forget what the actual line is called) and I am trying to wear gear that is +Vitality and Toughness.
I found a leveling Guardian build which is why I’m thinking I haven’t had too many issues in terms of survivability and damage and since I haven’t found that for the Warrior I’m hoping that’s why I’m dying a bit more then I care to admit.
Thanks
