Personally I’d just like more skins… all in all, dont really care about mix matching different armor types etc but I’m sick of all the coats/skirts/dress looking medium armors.
My main is a human thief and either you look like a hooker (cultural showing off your boobs or duelist tiny corset) or you run around in those infernal coats that dont make any sense for a stealthy/agile fast moving character in my mind, if I broke into someones house I’d leave the coat home and take a snug jacket.
Hopefully they’ll add more armor skins in the future though (maybe they’ll add ascended/legendary armors etc but who know) or add more continent flavored skins in expansions etc like they did in GW1 (assuming they’ll open more continents)

Well yeah but I’d like some Badges so I can get some gear… if I wanted ectos I’d farm champs in PvE

I mean, it’s all cool with adding new stuff to the chests etc but they didnt have to remove the rewards that’s actually useful in WvW -.-’

Right so I’ve gained several WvW ranks tonight and two days ago I gained badges of honor with each rank up, now however I dont get any at all, spend almost 3 hours in EB and Borderlands now and all I have to show for it is a couple of rams and a net gain of roughly 30 badges gained from taking towers/forts/keeps.
Was the reward removed duo to the S1 thing or did my character just break somehow?

As for the rune/socket things, plain Ruby orbs actually work quite nice.

works better then most standard runes unless you’re after a specific trait like condition removal from Lyssa’s 6 set bonus etc

Depends on how good you are really, it is possible to stay alive and be bring some utility like group stealth etc and you can go for rabid/carrion gear stacking up toughness like mad and deal some decent damage with conditions.
But as Pavel said, other classes can do the same and probably do it better then thiefs.

We cant really compete with warriors kittened dmg and tankyness nor with the group utilities engineers/rangers bring. So honestly it’s kind of a huge meh, some dungeons I’ve been able to tank with my thief mostly duo to D/D lotus spin with life steal food and signet of malice keeping me alive through the dmg but even then a guardian could do the same while healing the party, taking a dance lesson and sip a cup of tea.

oh forgot, with S/D we’re actually kinda semi useful as boon stripper
And all things taken into account: I still love the thief playstyle so I’ll keep at it regardless of what everyone else think :P

I havent played so much on live yet but I did play a fair bit during the beta, all I can say is that thiefs are fun as hell to play and the “issue” you have with guardians/mesmers aint really a issue. They’re probably the best anti-thief classes in the game so it’s simply your counter, what I could advice vs them is to play smart, if you see the guardian put up retaliation simply stop attack with physical dmg, if you use a bow put down some venom on the ground and wait it out or get a skill to strip boons (think swords flanking strike got a boon removal added for live).
As for the mesmers, once you learn to see which one is the real they’re fairly easy to kill, just keep a condition removal for their annoying confusion stack

actually… that particular setup is fairly easy to counter, most classes have a “when stunned/knocked down/feared etc etc do X, 90 sec CD” traits, for thiefs it shadowstep us to a random location, necros it fear everyone who’s close for 1-2 seconds when they’re stunned, guardians have one as well but cant remember what it did, fairly certain all classes have one of those traits.
And even if they did change the CnD/steal “abuse” it wont matter much since steal itself will trigger the venom if you spec for mugged, the only thing that would change would be that instead for dying in 1 second you die in 1.5 seconds

Monthly Achivement resetting at 100%

The reward is far from pointless though since the coins are used in quite a few legendary recepies and other mystic forge crafting…. the only source of getting these coins seem to be daily and monthly achivement rewards which seem to suggest they should be fairly “hard” to get since you’re efficiently limited to around 50/month normally assuming you dont buy them of the TP, however this month I’m rapidly approaching my 4th monthly reward bringing that number up to 80 (without cointing the daily rewards which is another 19 for this month) putting me at 100 coins for september, which is why I’ve bugged it 3 times? now and made this topic as well, but I dont think it’ll get much attention from the devs

Well… human thief lvl 80, human guarding lvl 16, sylvari elemtalist lvl 16, human necro lvl 16 and just started a norn ranger as well, I do admit I’m slightly low lvl on most of the chars to make the storylines matter much at this point but throwing in the experience I have from the BWE where I as a lvl 13 guarding completed the finding your parents storyline given (lvl 19) I have to say, I find most of the story missions so far to be way to easy :/
(on other hand I play Dark Souls for kittenz’n’giggles, which most people seem to think is retardly hard for some reason)
The only missions so far I’ve had “issues” completing was the source of orr mission with my thief since it bugged out everytime I used a shadowstep/infiltration type of skill turning completly immune to dmg (aware it’s supposed to do that when it warp back to the pond but the buff should wear off after a while, when I used shadowsteps it didnt) and the purple rainbowspray of doom oneshot me from full health ^^
Was resolved fairly simple by not using those skills though and the eye died in about 4 min

I had some issues with the monthly survivor bugging at first as well, counting “downed” as “died” and resetting, crashed and died to a single spider at 5% health etc but now I can get that 100k needed with a few craftings which is fairly fast done, or just a single dungeon run since the end reward is 177k xp for me. But since I got it completed the first time I’ve never had any issue with it bugging out, just have this reset the day after I reach 100%

So it’s the third time this month I’ve completed the monthly achivement just to have it reset the next day… is there anyone who have simular issues?
I know they reset it once early on the month to solve some issue with last month not resetting properly for some people but seriously?
It’s bloody annoying to be honest, sure I get swamped with mystic coins, but at the same time I’m unvillingly exploiting a major issue with the repetable achivements as it is now and I’d like to get it sorted out somehow cause frankly… I do enjoy WvW, I farm events for karma, I salvage -everything- for mats, and getting the survivor aint really hard and I’d hate getting banned or something cause I play the game -.-’

This thread again =).
I’m a FS player (DL alliance) and I say this: leave VS be. They are great players and we have great fights with them. I’d much rather get second VS-like server than Desolation.

You dont seem to see the issue though, it’s not about the players on the server, if they’re good/bad, nice or nasty etc. It’s about the effect different timezones have on WvWvW in general. If we take a look on how the weekend has been? VS and FS had a pretty event game, not sure what happened ith Desolation though, but overall it has been weekend of great fun for most parts on both FS and VS.
However during the week days people on FS who’re more or less only from EU wont be able to sit up whole nights to compete cause of work/school etc, where VS have people from canada who’re awake during the time most on FS are asleep can cap more or less 100% without much resistance and when they have to sleep the EU part of VS wake up and can continue the fight/hold the defences during the day.
This is called timezone abuse in most games I’ve played so far where the main focus is pvp etc and frowned upon, as shown over the weeked the only reason FS is loosing so bad during the week days is cause of the timezones.

Actually… the only real way to stop “timezone abuse” would be to put in a IP block on each regions servers so only people from that region can access and play on them…
Lets say the people in the nightcrew on VS are all french speaking canadians, and they joined a french EU server only to dominate WvWvW through timezone abuse, if a-net would do as you suggest and move VS to the north american region nothing really stop the nightcrew from jumping over to another french EU server to start over/continue what they did on VS. (I beg you guys pardon btw, it’s just a extreme example and not intended as a insult or attempt to state “facts” etc)

Really now? Looking at Gw2guilds there is only 1 Canadian guild listed as playing in the EU. ONE. If you think that 1 guild is the reason you are failing to beat VS I feel really sorry for your server and it’s lack of skill.

Not to be rude or anything but… That website only have guilds registered by players, not taken from the GW2 database, besides just cause a guild is listed as “French” or “English” dosnt mean all their members are from France or England… but way to go thinking outside the box right?

So far mine has reset twise this month and honestly I dont wanna get in trouble for exploiting a Achievement that give you 20 mystic coin etc, duo to the nature of the achivement I cant play the game on any of my chars at moment without pushing the achievement furter -.-’

Ok så:
Party: 2 people from Far Shiverpeaks, 3 from Underworld joining from Overflow server.
Initial issue:
Everyone get their own seperat instance, usually resolved by splitting the team and have one person entering the instance and then invite the rest while being inside the active instance, no result still got their own instance.
Second issue: walked out and couldn’t re-enter the instance, resolved by rebooting the client, allowed us to enter the instance again but still with the seperat instances.
Everyone tried both entering the instance manually and get in and then tried with the popup window and there were no significant difference betwen the attemptes.

So what I wonder is, is there anyone else who feel like the cultural armors should be account wide? they’re quite expensive and you outlvl them really fast and once you’ve traded them off for something else they’re pretty much useless? Would be nice if they could be used by alts (of the same race of course) so they’d have a bit more value then just a minor achivements, at least I personally wont get the tier 3 anytime soon since it require 119g to buy, will only be usable by one character and I’m already in full exotic armor for 76-78 (their stats still beat the rare cultural) and will soon trade those exotics out for Karma gear

I had never heared of the issue when I finnished my story about a hour ago, and got same crap as eveyone else, though I did get a lvl 80 blue shortbow, but he other 4 items were 30-60ish.

So a short while ago I finally managed to get through Arah story mode without getting stuck in any of the bugs that stop the progess of the dungeon, I report back to Trinity Fortress and get my story questline completed and I’m rewarded with a loot bag that would give me 5 “random” items. Sounds cool right?
My question is: Why the hell did I get level 30 gear from it?
To be precise I got a lvl 64 green heavy chest, lvl 31 blue rifel, lvl 80 blue shortbow, lvl 49 blue spear and a lvl 37 blue medium chest.

I know it said the items would be random and it’s fine, but for something like killing Zaithan the big bad elder dragon that raised Orr from the bottom of the ocean raised armies of undead… wouldnt it kinda make sense that you’d get random lvl 80 gear from the loot bag at least so there’s a chance some of it will be usefull?

Best way to test would be to find a single enemy, beat him down a bit (so you wont die) and then let him knock off your health a bit and then beat the living crap out of him to see if you get healed or not :P
Personally I didnt have any issues with the trait when I tried out my guarding in a quick pvp match (might be cause of the dmg difference though), stacks pretty nice with the -20% CD on 2h attack trait in one of the other trees

I acually think it makes sense in a way, even in a highly pvp focused game: Everyone can join WvW with no one to lead them (-.-’ noticed it quite well on my server lately where we have a large bunch of people running around doing PvE stuff and farming minerals/wood/food instead for taking part in the pvp which as a result make our server lose quite hard). However if you have a set leader (commander) you go from a unorganised mass of people waving around pitchforks and torches to something that can be more simular to a actual armed force. (That’d mean people need to listen to the Commander/let him lead etc though which dosnt always happened)

So Guardian lose 33% of their hp because they can "support? Considering all classes should be able to support, heal, tank dps to some degree.

Guardian is mostly a melee in your face with a few ranged options compare to other classes. So why should they also get Hp of a caster?

As mentioned by the guy above the Virtues play a part, another thing is: if the guardian deside to go face to face they have “passive healing” from their attacks, all their greatsword attacks heal them for a portion of the dmg dealt (grandmaster trait), one hander the mace “1” attack have a builtin heal from auto attacks, sword have a blind and a projectile shield etc where the warriors more or less only have different sorts of dmg migitation skills (if they even have that, havent played my warrior that much yet) but as a trade off the warrior have a bit more health and deal quite a lot more damage
