As much as I would like to flame posts like this….. You do make a very good point….
But to just bash ArenaNet isn’t right, every MMO developer should be blamed for making these bad MMO’s….
I got tricked into liking GW2 somehow, I didn’t even look at it some months ago, but then it caught my eyes and I made the mistake of hyping the game, just to be let down pretty fast……. cause it’s just another MMO with some minor changes….
Don’t think any developer will change this though….. They don’t seem to play other non-MMO games at all….
Let’s just put a few hobbies down here:
- football: 2 times 1 hour training a week and 1 90 minutes match.
- Counter-Strike: a 12 game clanwar takes no longer than half an hour. You can dose them as much as you like… one per week at low+ or 20 a day at hi++
- running a marathon: once you are trained this is less than 3 hours, and you don’t do one weekly. Training for it is 3 times a week about 2 hours.
- reading Da Vinci Code: 5 hours
- reading 15 whodunnit pockets : one afternoon
- practicing musical performance: 2 hours a week
- practicing for an extremely good (amateur level) musical performance: 2 times 2 hours a week- becoming r14 in vanilla WoW: 14 hours a day for 1 month straight
- gathering a legendary: 2 hours a day consistently for several months or 2 weeks hardcore.Only three things come to mind that come even near this level of dedication:
- getting kitten laude in my final year at university
- training for Ironman triathlon which I won’t do because of this time commitment
- deadlines at work which sometimes go over this for shorter periods of timeNot that I mind hard, long term goals but people say a legendary “only” takes 2 hours a day for several months. That’s not a casual time commitment, that’s actually pretty hardcore, considering most people actually have a job, family and friends. I don’t know why people have this deluded idea that “merely 2 hours a day” is a casual time investment? Most days I actually struggle with completing the daily achievement. Not that I mind… I’d go for a legendary anyways, I’ve got years…
Until I heard about ascended items. I love ascended items as a one time gear increment. Nice to have another long time goal. If it becomes a tiered system however, it’ll be devastating for people like me (the absolute majority of players) who will fall behind and never be able to join pvp, dungeons, guilds etc. It happened in other games with tiered gear, I really don’t want it to happen to my favourite game.
Two hours a day is not a casual time investment, it’s pretty hardcore by standards set in all other games and past times. An MMO is the perfect thing to lose myself after a hard day of work, but it shouldn’t feel like a second job and that’s exactly what most MMOs are, a world for people without jobs and students neglecting their classes.
2 hours a day is nothing really….. it all depends on what kind of person you are, for example, all the thing that you do, makes me look like a extremely lazy person :P
I can easily play for 2 hours a day…. no problem, even during busy times (I study at university, so have busy times, and then not so busy times…)
That being said, I don’t play GW2 for 2 hours a day…. I did the first month after release, but then it’s been downhill from there, and now I haven’t even logged in for a couple of days, just waiting for the patch…. (witch will be make or break for me)
For me to play 2 hours a day, the game has to be really fun.

The thing that turned me off from games like WoW, (well don’t know how WoW is now) was the fact that you needed to have a guild, and be active in it to be able to experience all content…..
This is NOT the same thing, I can experience all the content from the beginning…….. So if you are a casual player, and don’t have time to get this gear, then just enjoy the easier levels of the dungeon……. You get the same experience……
I do hope the armor will be pretty hard to get though, cause otherwise it would be useless to do the other dungeons…….. for people that are not casual players at least…..
But if this armor is hard to get, then I don’t think this is a bad idea at all….. Cause like I said everyone will be able to experience the dungeon whatever gear they have…… and when you have got your exotics you can move on to try to get the ascended gear, just like some go after the legendary weapons right now…….
I see it exactly like the grind for the legendary weapons except this is more fun, it being in a dungeon……….
I’m sure this will not become a gear treadmill….. Especially since they will only add back-piece and accessory(?) ascended gear right now, and there will only be infusions for the dungeon….. So if everyone complain as much after the patch, I’m sure they will make changes to their ideas further on….
Have I got it all wrong ???? I’ve read that this gear will only be good inside the new dungeon………. That won’t change anything outside this dungeon, you will still use your other armor outside the dungeon, and even if it’s good outside the dungeon the added power is probably minimal, like between Exotics and Legendary right now….
PLEASE STOP GOING CRAZY ! We need to learn more about this before we can judge……
Infusion slot is the only part that is dungeon only. The rest of the stats works outside of the dungeon.
Okay….. But my point still stands that the gear will probably not be better than exotics, well it’s going to be “better”, but it’s probably minimal like I said…..
And like someone said in another thread, it’s not like we can’t get to certain content without getting this gear…… We can get to all 9 parts of the dungeon with exotics or lower, it’s just that we need to get that gear for us to get to higher difficulty…. And you will get gear by doing the dungeon….
This is just a way to stop people from just getting to the “end” of the dungeon the same day it comes out, and then complain about there being no endgame…..

My biggest problem is that it feels like Necro is not part of the game….. Every other class have got some changes to them that either fixes problems or nerf/buff them…. Necro haven’t got anything of that, even though they have the most problems of all classes…..
Well this doesn’t sound good to me…… Every class will probably receive many changes, but Necro should get 60 changes if Engineers get 30…..
The fact that they only mentions Rangers and Engineers tells me those are the ones that will get the most changes….. So expect <15 changes for Necro, and probably no big changes…..
I hope I’m wrong, cause this is the make or break point for me, not only for the class, but for the entire game…..
The main problem is lack of things to do….. The the game is free though, so people will probably be back for the next update 15 November…..
I will take a break until that date myself…. With Halo 4 just being released, I will have other things to do…..
Damage taken in death shroud does not transfer on life in pvp, bug
in Necromancer
Posted by: Craiger.8579
Have no idea if this is a bug or not…. But can’t see why this have to be a bug…. might very well be supposed to be like that….
You should just be happy that you can deal that kind of damage in one hit….. Necro’s deal that damage over 30 seconds… :P You are right though, that doesn’t justify us to have a bug, but we can’t possibly know if it is one or not…..
@Kaarnak, that’s a good point….. If a weapon is going to be added (where have people got this from anyway ?), then I would like to see a long range weapon as I said earlier…..
I’m pretty sure a mace wouldn’t be long range….. 1200 range is always on two-handed weapons, so a hammer would be nice, I actually didn’t think of that at all….
For the ones that want to see greatsword for Necro’s, what range do you want to see on it ? Cause if Necro is to get a new weapon (witch I doubt), I want to see an alternative to the Staff when it comes to long range (1200)…. Cause in my opinion Staff is boring and very one-dimensional….
You make some good points there xEtherx….. I agree on every front.
I really like the idea of having 5 jagged horrors running around (if they don’t die so easily)
I would also like to see some overall increase in damage for Necro’s…. Not condition damage, but burst damage…. Take Scepter number 1 ability for example, it does almost no burst damage at all, it relies on the condition damage…. If your target can remove conditions, then you do zero damage basically…. of course you can’t remove conditions all the time, but it still hinders a lot…
Well the devs have answered now at least…. in this thread, https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/necromancer/The-cake-is-not-a-lie/first
The dev is saying that they’re fixing bugs for all classes and a lot for Necro’s…. We will probably see this the next patch…
Don’t like the idea of Greatswords at all…. That’s not a weapon a Necro uses…. I could see new weapons being added for Necro’s though, but not greatswords, something like a sword or torch or something…..
The thing I like to see though, is more long-range options…. We have Staffs, yes…. I don’t really like the abilities we get with it, it’s all just marks…. I would like to have an option to that, mainly for WvW, where range is a very good thing to have….. Either that, or fix the Staff abilities somehow, so that they are more interesting, and buff the nbr1 ability
Well Someone said they looked kinda like this in GW1 too (haven’t played it myself)… So I don’t think you will get your Skeletons and whatnot
But I want a change of their looks at least….. Like you said, they doesn’t look much like Necro minions….
But that’s the small problem right now… ArenaNet have to focus on fixing the 1 billion bugs about Necro’s first…. There are so many I can’t count them…..
Have ArenaNet even spoken about the Necro’s yet ? It’s the most broken profession by far, and some of the things should at least have been fixed already, lets hope they are planning a big change soon….
I want the Minions to get buffed, changed skin and most of all that they add a control-bar for our pets, so that we can actually use them tactically, not just as an army of brainless things that die after 1 second…..
I think they are working on fixing Necros…. They can’t have missed how broken we are…. That’s probably why it’s not fixed yet, cause it’s a big fix that is needed….
Maybe we will see some fixing next patch, together with the Ranger…
They have to make some big changes and buffs for me to play with minions…. I love minions, so it’s not that, but can’t see them as a viable option right now.
Even if they fix the bugs, I can’t see me using it….
Necro’s need some very big work and buffs overall, not just minions… and if they fix everything and buff the class, then I want to use minions instead, that’s what got me interested in the class way back.
Well all this is kind of off-topic since you were talking about more minions and different skins :P and to answer you, yes ! I want to see more minions (more interesting minions) and other skins…. I also agree that the Flesh Golem looked better in GW1, it looks kinda bad IMO….
