BCDragon is a pro troll. Anet should ban him and lock this thread.
Yeah they need to remove the limit on how big you can make it… Obviously none of the devs have a high res monitor. hell even on 1920×1080 its far to small on a 27 but go up to 2560×1440 and were talking squinting…
More like AT LEAST $150, time to hitup craigslist if your a cheapo and buy someones year old GPU.

I have to agree with you… After playing GW2 for a while I cant play other games it makes me sick to my stomach. More options would be nice, but first fix the optimization of our CPU usage.

Good, you deserve it for wussing out of your server and joining a zerg loser server.
I think what all you people failed to get from the OP’s post was this very simple fact. In WvW the game is NOT utilizing our CPU THUS dropping performance substantially!
In WvW zergs my cpu is only being 42% utilized, in normal world only 15% utilized. The game needs SERIOUS CPU optimization.
If the game doesnt optimize and utilize our cpu’s better we will NEVER get smooth FPS where the cpu is needed. WvW! and big events too obviously…
Please Dev’s let us know you know this issue and your fixing it some of us have high end PC’s and we get kitten fps its just not fair at all!
I7-3820 at 4.3ghz stock voltage should easily smoke this game constant 60fps.
Anyone who says an SSD will die from writing alot has no idea what the kitten they are talking about! I have had the same Intel SSD since they came out years ago… IT has been my OS drive which I reformat monthly and reinstall whatever game I want to have lightning fast performance. At this time that would be GW2, the rest go on big old hard drives.
My drive still has over 90% life left according to the toolbox and there is NO slowdown. So dont listen to the KittenKitten people tell you about them dying. The only reason your SSD will die any faster than a normal HDD is a BAD one which happens with ANY hardware. TY

Agreed with MDK, thats probably why I dont have this issue at all… I dont have MSI afterburners overclock limit unlocked.
hahaha such a liar, that slowkittencpu cant run this game stable at 50fps with a 5800 series gpu. Good try tho troll.
I checked out some of your other posts. If you are still using the ATI 12.9 drivers that were released recently, a google search shows that several people are having blank screens and lockup issues with 12.9 drivers. 12.8 is stable, but has texture flickering problems. The only decent drivers for GW2 I have read about on forums are the ATI 12.7 drivers.
I can appreciate that you don’t want to divulge your system specs, but have you tried these previous driver sets?
I have 12.8 drivers and have tested a 6770 a 6950 and a 7970 and not a single one of those cards in my system has had this “texture flicker” people complain of. Clearly they need to let the application control anti-aliasing and whatnot or download the latest AMD CAP profiles.
No offense but you shouldnt even be playing with eyefinity without crossfire or SLI if you want a smooth gaming experience. Check out benchmarks the highest res they list is 2560×1600 and that severely taxes a single GPU in most games. Your most likely running 5000+ res on the highend thats double what a single GPU can handle with a constant 60fps in most games…
No clue why u people say AMD is garbage but…
I can get FFXIV running on a AMD Phenom with all config on ultra, while most people need an i7 which costs twice the money. So if I can get an AMD running with 50% of the capacity (not literally but u know…) of an Intel i7 which costs twice the price, then I dont know how you guys your “experience” and “knowledge” is… I think you need to study a little more and -or get more into hardware.
I know that when you benchmark a (for example) Phenom II Quad Core against an i7, that the i7 statisticly will blow away the AMD but…
I have made hundred of computers for customers. I set two computer right next to each other. One was a Intel i7, the other a Phenom which in costs was around 30-40% cheaper in cost.
I started different games like:
- Call of Duty Modern Warfare
- Battlefield 3
- Final Fantasy XIVBoth PC’s ran it with all settings on ultra high. CoD no difference, same for BF. In FFXIV there was a small difference when you get to crowded area’s i.e. 100+ people.
But then again, the difference was so small, it is not worth the 30-40% more costs if you ask me.
I dont mean it offencive that I say “your wrong” but I have seen it with my own eyes. You shouldnt beleve everything that magazine’s say, or what people on forums write.
When building a computer (i work with Intel to) you can calculate a lot of stuff into the final build.
CPU core, chipset, bus, brand et cetera. I know that a AM3 CPU fits on a AM2/AM3 mainboard, but that does not mean that it is optimal! with a little bit of research you can get the same power, as an (for example) i7 configuration for 30-40% less costs.
Anyways, this is an endless argument that people will always try to put at their foot. Some people prefer Intel, some prefer AMD. That’s how it is, and it always will be.
Anyways, like I tought, it aint my computer, but still I am getting a new one just because I want one lol
Thanks for your replies everyone, wonderfull to see that the GW2 community is so active, compared to a lot of other ‘communities’.
AMD may not be “garbage” but the Bulldozer or FX line that you plan on ordering is pure kitten my friend. Theres a reason its pathetically cheap, My friend has the 8150 at 5.0ghz with a 7970 and barely manages 55fps doing hearts and POI’s with major dips. My I7-3820 at 4.3ghz runs a constant 60 with vsync on and never dips unless its in WvW in a mass battle. And thats only because the game only uses 40% of my CPU
Clock for clock intel has been whooping AMD’skitten since the C2D, Im no fanboy I had AMD up until the C2D’s came out but that was when AMD was better at gaming… Some of these people come off as kitten with their fanboyism but it is true you should cancel that FX if you plan serious gaming and or ANYTHING besides it. Bulldozer was an epic letdown dont waste your hard earned money.
I forgot to mention I only have a 6770 until tuesday when my new GTX comes.. so yea
You also have unreal expectations of your 6970 at the insanely high resolution your trying to push with it. I dont know how you claim to max any game besides crap of duty at that res with a decent framerate of 40+… Def need crossfire or SLI for high end options

I have a sony bravia 40inch and it displays perfectly with out any special drivers for the TV. Use your TV remote and open the menu and look for the screen sizing(stretching) option then try all the options like -1, Full pixel, and normal. I have to run it on -1 for it to fit properly. May or may not help give it a try
I love the people who are like “buy a new video card”….or “upgrade your RAM” to the very same people who ran the game perfectly just a few days ago. Clearly if a large number are experiencing FPS issues who were fine before…the issue is not on their end. I may not be a computer specialist, .but that is simple logic.
As above, best not comment if your full noob.
But the game was running perfectly for me at max settings… until today. Now it’s unplayable at the lowest settings.
My specs:
• i7 2600k
• Win 7 64 bit
• 8GB RAM
• 2x Radeon 6950s in CrossfireShould I go run to the store and upgrade!?
Nope just turn off crossfire, I have two 6950’s as well and run perfectly fine IF i disable one.
I had this same issue and it was driving me insane, goto options and turn your Sound quality slider to the middle instead of high, or low if you choose so. For some reason high quality is causing some kind of driver error on realtek and creative.
PS. lemme know if it works for ya!

I havent noticed this myself. But I do get unacceptable FPS in large WvWvW with my system… Going to order a GTX 670 personally as soon as my money is deposited.
Would be nice if they supported SLI and crossfire properly as it is now my second 6950 doesnt improve performance at all even with latest AMD cap.
CPU: I7-3820 at 4.3ghz stock voltage and chilled by my custom liquid loop
Mobo: Asrock Extreme 6/GB X79
16Gigs DDR3 1600mhz
Two MSI Twin Frozr III HD 6950 2gig cards
Yea this is absolutely unacceptable, add insult to injury some of us get the Nuclear reactor is overheating alarm sound bug and then we crash and have to join the terrible queue all over again.
I have the same problem its random in WvWvW for me. Doesnt seem to matter if its a huge opfor or just 5 enemies. sounds like some radiation alarm and it generally locks up gw2 for me causing me to have to wait another 30+mins for WvWvW again.
Mobo: Asrock Extreme 6/GB X79
Audio device :Sound blaster recon 3Di
16gigs DDR3 1600mhz
Two MSI twin frozr III HD 6950 2gig cards(obv only one works no xfire support yet)
I7-3820 at 4.3ghz due to bad psu cant overvolt atm.
